Happy Easter Everyone!! Remember chocolate is really good for the bumps!!
Hey Jellytotz, I was exactly the same before my scan too - hadn't been remotely sick, so was really worried there'd be nothing in there at the scan!! Midwife told me that loads of new mums feel the same.
Ahh, Flamesparrow I'm sorry you're still feeling rotten, hope it gets better soon.
I've had an achey tummy the last couple of days - hoping it's just the bump having a little growth spurt and stretching everything. I'm pretty sure I can feel the odd wriggle now, like little ripples - at fourteen weeks, is that ridiculous (imagination) or is it quite possible?
Have a lovely day everyone, hope you have better weather than us!

KleineMaus · 12/04/2009 21:32

Also very happy for treats and baby treats. Great news!

Have an appointment with the midwife on Tuesday. Looking forward to hearing the baby's heartbeat (hopefully), but really not looking forward to having blood taken as when I was pregnant last time I fainted out in the waiting room afterwards and it was really embarrassing!

fidelma · 13/04/2009 07:44

morning all.I hope ypu've all had a lovely Easter. We had the hottest day of the year in Scotland yesterday. All the family were at mums and it was perfect. The children all played outside as did the adults .DD7 was also 7 yesterday so made it quite special.(also great to have 2 big events taken care of at my Mums.)I am not realy into childrens parties any more.I can't stand the expense (most people seem to spend about £300!!!!)Dont like having 20 crazy children to look after and can not stand the amount of gifts the children get.(call me a meanie if you like)Think about it 3 birthday parties a year=60 gifts x 7 years =420 pressies I would need a new house to fit it all in.Don't get me wrong we have had some lovely parties in the past but we are now enjoying Birthday teas with the family.Grandparents and 2 aunts.A nice table full and enough pressents.

Sorry didn't mean to rant.

Not feeling too bad any more.especially if I don't do too much.Great excuse.

Feeling little movements. 15 weeks tomorrow.Roll on the blooming phase.I do look at least 5 months pregnant.

fidelma · 13/04/2009 07:46

Not DD7 but DD2 who is 7! shouldn't of got up so early.

HappyTangerine · 13/04/2009 08:13

Hi all
Not been on for a while, hope you've all had a lovely Easter. We decided to do the tourist sights of Liverpool on Saturday, never done before.Twas great fun and cost v little as I'd had a nice win on the Grand National the week before! Am starting to look obviously pregnant now, someone even offered me a seat on the train on Saturday!(which I gratefully took!)

Treats, thats such fantastic news, congratulations! What a fab Easter present

FlameSparrow and BellaCullen - really hope you feel better soon. I've only just stopped being sick several times a day and its only now Im feeling good that I realise how awful its been. I was a few days away from being hospitalised when things turned around so hope its not long for you. Grapes were my saviour.

LMB - stick to your guns on the house, people will try to get the bargain of the century at the moment.

Am 16 weeks today and think I my be starting to feel the odd little movement. Has anyone else got really sensitive nipples btw? They are agony of I brush them against anything-any cures?

I am finally starting to relax and realise that I HAVE left my stressful sales manager job - it was difficult the first month as they were emailing/phoning me almost daily. Its wonderful to have an Easter break and not spend Sunday/Monday writing reports and dreading going back to work. We're looking to buy our first home later this year so am busy sprucing up our rental house at the moment and especially the garden. Weather here is wonderful so I'm taking advantage of it - I think Southport has its own microclimate.

Love to everyone x

theboob · 13/04/2009 08:44

morning all

happy i have the same nipple problem and i'm also 16 weeks today, i keep getting the sensation of leaking milk too

we had a fantastic weekend and the weather is glorious, today is supposed to be hotter , so off to the park for a picnic i was sick this morning ,not been for weeks now, hope it's not coming back

littlepea72 · 13/04/2009 11:00

Had such a great night last night, the couple a few doors up from us knocked at the door about 10.40pm....she had gone into labour, i went up to look after their DD would is only 1, thought i would be there for a good long time, but no! She just reached the hospital 5 minutes later, and had the baby within 20 minutes!!! No pain relief, no tearing, nothing! Now thats the way it should be lol....Her DH came back home & was jumping arround laughing & crying, it was so nice to see.

Hope you are all doing great today!!!

Treats · 13/04/2009 18:02

fidelma - I was just going at your seven daughters.......

Thanks for all your good wishes everyone - definitely feel a lot better now. Went for lunch at my mum's yesterday and she'd bought me and my sister a little toy for our babies. Think this is going to open the floodgates for a lot of shopping over the next few months! DH was very reluctant to start buying things for baby, but now that we don't have the gastroschisis to worry about, he's a lot more keen.

Sitting here in my maternity jeans at the moment. I am SO glad I bought them. The comfort is indescribable compared to the straining of getting into my normal clothes. Spent the day clearing out the spare room (to make space for the baby things!) and putting all the clothes away that I'm definitely NOT going to be wearing between now and the birth. Wardrobe is now looking a bit sparse .

Bump is a little bit noticeable - if you know me well - but I would still just look a bit podgy to strangers. When I'm lying in bed first thing, and have a full bladder, I can feel a small, hard bump. It goes more squashy once I stand up or go to the loo, but it's definitely a bump. I made DH feel it this morning and he was very excited.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and took advantage of not having to worry about putting on weight to scoff loads of Easter eggs!

hackneybird · 13/04/2009 18:47

Hope you all had a lovely Easter. The top shelf of my fridge is exclusively full of chocolate.

Treats v. pleased at your news.

Flame sorry you're feeling so rough. Is your DH looking after you?

LMB hold out on the house, and I look forward to hearing how it goes.

Tangerine I also have sensitive nipples, I was in the shower this morning and the jets of water were really uncomfortable. Also when it is cold they really hurt! Feel burny like icecubes are being held on them .

We visited DH's family this weekend for the first time since we broke 'the news', and it was lovely to see them, but as it is our first baby they were all superexcited for us and I kept being bear hugged which was v.sore for my poor tender boobs. I found it all a bit overwhelming as I don't like being fussed over. Although I should make the most of it while it lasts shouldn't I! They really are lovely though, I am very lucky to have such nice ILs.

rubyslippers · 13/04/2009 19:43

hello all - not been around much so need to mark this thread, read up and come back to it!

hope everyone is doing ok

we were oop north and had some glorious sunshine - bump seems to have sprouted as a result and can only just do my jeans up

HumphreysCorner · 13/04/2009 21:01

littlepea72 · 14/04/2009 08:31

HC good luck today with the test.

Im off to the hospital now myself, will look back on after i get back.

sammysam · 14/04/2009 08:50

There is no chance of me being able to catch up so I'm sorry if I have missed anything important!

HC good luck and I hope it all goes well today-how exciting you'll soon know that everything is ok and what you are having!!! Have you taken bets?!

Still waiting for blood test results......

Potty training still going very well-haven't had more than 2 accidents a day and thankfully no poo accidents I'm so very impressed and relieved. Just hope it doesn't go pear shaped next week when we start back at all our activities....

I'm having loads of very vivid dreams that are very LOUD! I wake up and am relieved that it is so quiet-very strange!

Hope everyone is ok and sickness is not too bad-mine has gone very on and off-still feel quite sick but haven't been sick for a couple of days again now......

MrsPuddleduck · 14/04/2009 09:40

Hi to all. Sounds like everyone had a nice Easter!

LMB - any more news on the house??

KKKKaty - have you thought of going to one of the Babyshows to look at nappies. I bet all of the majoy brands will have stalls. I want a sling so think I am going to make the effort so I can look at a few.

Fidelma - I am about to have my third. I have recently started to have mini-panics about sleeping arrangements, car seats and the fact that I have two knees and will have 3 children. Is anyone else feeling this way?

I am 14 weeks tomorrow and the ms had finally gone

I have got all my maternity clothes sorted and bought a load over Easter so am set now for a couple of weeks. I have gone for a pair of under the bump cropped jeans from New Look which is a new thing for me I usually wear the ones which go over but thought I may get a bit hot over the summer. They feel like they are going to fall down. Is that normal?

Flamesparrow · 14/04/2009 10:17

Went to see Priscilla last night. It was amazing, but didn't get home until 3.20am

Scan at 12pm

Flamesparrow · 14/04/2009 10:58

Just got a big bag of maternity clothes from EachPeachPearMum. I have never had a pregnancy with this many clothes

sammysam · 14/04/2009 11:34

Flame- at 3.20!!! I'm very of all your clothes-my megre lot of 5 things from last time are too big as i'm smaller than I was since having dd and the pair of jeans I bought this time I got too big as they were the only ones they had and I couldn't resist as they were only £10. Have spent the entire morning (with potty breaks!) searching for jeans online as castlepoint was crap yesterday I need comfy and NICE clothes to wear!!!!! Sorry rant over!

Good luck for your scan-can't wait to hear all about it!

theboob · 14/04/2009 12:05

good luck today hc,and all with scans

my ds2 has chickenpox am i safe??

MrsPuddleduck · 14/04/2009 12:40

Theboob - think you are OK as long as you have had chickenpox yourself. Both of mine had it during my first 8 weeks

patmum · 14/04/2009 12:42

theboob have you had chicken pox yourself? If so then yes, it seems you're safe. If not, talk to someone as soon as possible as there are things that they can do to make it less severe if you catch it early.

treats fab news - you must be so relieved.

As for wardrobe clearing out, it's such a good thing to do. Firstly you get more space for different clothes but the best thing was last time that about 4-5 weeks after the baby was born I got out all my old clothes and felt like I had a totally new wardrobe (not that I could quite get into most of it for another few weeks!) At a time when there's probably not much money coming in it was quite a boost!

LMB glad you've had an offer. Not surprising though that it was on the low side. Property is beginning to move again round here (Sussex) but people are still trying to future proof to some extent so that they don't get bitten too hard by the drop in the market. If you've got two parties interested that must really help. As potential purchasers, we certainly wouln't be offering asking price on a first offer. But if we really wanted something and we knew someone else was really interested too it would definitely put a new light on things. I won't advise as I'm coming from the other side. Just hope that whatever you sell for, you manage to get a good bargain yourself.

littlepea for ticks on our labradors we smother them (the tick not the entire dog!) in vaseline and leave it for a while. It seems to kill off the tick and then you can remove it much more easily. May not be so easy with a cat that insists on cleaning everything meticulously but if it was on its neck and a bit more unreachable it might work?

Just been to meet with the consultant at the hospital to discuss VBAC etc. At first we had one of her registrars who was nice enough but did only have the standard answers. When she said that no I wouldn't be able to go into the birth pool I started talking much more seriously about an elective c-section and she toddled off to get the consultant! The consultant was totally lovely and assured me that if it meant that I try for a natural birth then whilst they could recommend one course of action it was totally up to me and that, yes, I should be able to go in the birth pool for at least some of labour! They even have some equipment that means that I should be able to be monitored when in there. When I said that I was happy to come out occasionally for monitoring then she was totally relaxed about it and said probably not for the birth but otherwise let's give it a go. The three new pools should be operational by October too.

I spent a lot of time crying - lots of anxieties about the last "birth experience" coming out I suppose but I do feel somewhat relieved now - I think.

hackneybird · 14/04/2009 13:24

Hi all

I have the most dreadful period-pain like backache today, with lots of stretching and cramping like pains in my abdomen. I've had lots of stretching sensations so far for several weeks now, but as yet no back ache. It really is so uncomfy.

Please tell me this is a growth spurt/ligaments softening and not the beginning of something awful. Am feeling really anxious. I'm 13+5 today.

Is this normal?

Hope you all had a fab Easter with lots of chocolate. Mmmmm great excuse!

Great news treats!

Havent been online much as had 12 week scan this am, and was thinking a bit like you JellyTotz in that had been feeling so well that maybe things werent well for bubba! So had dug my head in the sand a bit. Anyhoo, to cut a long story short, all looked ok, apart from the little munchkin decided to be sleepy and not easy to see, so they decided to do an internal scan instead (ds and dh left at that point!) We also told our ds (2 and a half) that he was getting a little brother or sister and he seemed quite interested for about 2 mins and kept saying my baby in mummys tummy! Lots of his friends have had brothers or sisters appear over this year, so maybe he got it, maybe not!

Results next week, so see what the ratio thingy is. Of course I forgot all my paperwiork today, so have to go back for blood test tomorrow... doh!

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather!

KKKKaty · 14/04/2009 14:15

Good suggestion Willmouse but I've managed to find a Nappucino up the round soon, and the Baby Shows are a bit far afield for us here in York. Thanks anyway for the idea.
