Hi all

am so jealous to hear about your scans - its lovely but mind isnt til 25 June which seems such a long way off still! We also havent done anything about names apart from DP sugesting every member of Liverpool FC

not sure who was asking about pins and needles in their arm at night - I've had this since i got preganant and the concencious seems to be carpal tunnel syndrom (apparently). Wearing a splint at night is supposed to help (according to the physio but am still waiting for mine). Am now kitted out in a giant tubi-grip to wear from my bra line to below my hips to try and improve my back - just when I felt completly unsexy anyway....

take care all and back soon

MrsKitty · 21/05/2009 23:26

Hi All

Had my scan today! All fine, although have Anterior placenta (which is why I've not been feeling much movement) and is partly covering my cervix so have to go back for another scan at 32 weeks to see if it's moved. Didn't find out the sex as we'd decided not to (Although if she'd asked I might not have had the willpower to say no!)

Scan pics were a bit rubbish & blurry, and she only took about 15-20 mins, but baby is OK and that's what matters.

treats your friends "DP" sounds like an arse - what a thing to say to her!

DevilsA you're very brave doing your bathroom at this stage - haven't got any experience, but i'm a bit of a chicken when it comes to house renovations!

SassJ Delphi is a FABULOUS name - not heard it before, but think it's beautiful!

Possible names here at the moment are Eliza for a girl and George or Elliot for a boy (although I got 2 baby names books from the library this afternoon and I'm not afraid to use them! )

No talk of bank holiday weekend please I'm on night shift all weekend from tonight through to Wednesday night so will have no weekend to speak of! (And those of you in Wales & West Country can thank me for the change in the weather - it always turns sunny when I'm on nights! )

Hope everyone's doing well...I'm feeling so relieved now that the scan has come back OK - feel like I can start really enjoying things now!

DevilsAdvocaat · 22/05/2009 07:34

morning everyone

good scan news everyone. sorry to hear of your Anterior placenta MrsKitty, hopefully it'll move. what happens if it doesn't?

i have all unisex stuff from ds too but having looked through it, a lot of the clothes won't be suitable for an october baby. ds was june. babygros and vests are fine but most of te little outfits are sort sleeves and legs. we'll see though as i may be able to get some long sleeved vests to go underneath.

knitting! yes i knew i was forgetting something! will investigate. although i'm hesitant to start another project as i am currently making a rug for the newbie but it's taking ages. mind you, the cross stitch i did for ds wasn't finished and framed beofre he was 1 so i suppose it doesn't matter really!

i have my scan today, can't wait. had a really cool dream last night that i had a window in my stomach which i could see the baby through. it had a vest and hat on lol. i think it was after watching that program 'emergency in the womb'. did anyone see it? about identical twins who share a blood supply. one twin gets massive with loads of am fluid around it, the other is smaller and not thriving. they would both die without this treatment where the doc inserts a tube inbetween the two babies, sticks a laser with a camera down there and uses the laser to quaterise the blood vessels that link the two babies together. you could see the image of the babies in the womb and their little feet and hands. the woman was about 20 weeks too so it was interesting to see what our little ones look like at this stage. they also had to remove four litres of am fluid from one woman at this stage . it was amazing.

scan at 13.30, will check in after

rubyslippers · 22/05/2009 08:30

yay for all the scans and the shy babies LOL!

we were getting quite even with the boys and girls ...

so, lovely weekend beckons - lots of time in the garden i think

HC - how is your DD today? Must have been a day for accidents as DS fell off the see saw at nursery and has a big bruise/lump on his forehead

lovely days to all

x

HumphreysCorner · 22/05/2009 11:45

Morning ladies

MrsKitty-good news about your scan. Shame it was rushed though, they should be longer than that.

rubyslippers-DD is fine today but big scabs on her cheek and under her nose. Hope DS is OK.

DevilsAdvocaat-good luck for today. I watched the program last night and was amazed at the 21 week bit as I am 21 weeks so can't believe my boy looks like that. DH worked with a lad whose girlfriend had TTTS but she sadly lost one after an emerg C-Section and they scanned her every week but didn't operate.

Lol-when I was expecting DD1 my MIL mentioned to DH about being at the birth. Luckily he was in agreement with me. Noooooooooooooooooooo! Half expected her to barge in though.

We had horrendous hailstones yesterday and today doesn't look much better so cleaning inside methinks.

Big wave!

HC

21+3

rubyslippers · 22/05/2009 15:49

just checking in to see Devils scan news

HC glad your DD is ok

anyone else's cravings kicking in? I have such a sweet tooth at the moment and i can eat for Britain - my appetite is through the roof

DevilsAdvocaat · 22/05/2009 16:20

thanks ruby i'm back now!

scan went well although little monkey was lying on it's front so she had to scan the heart through the spine which took a while but was also quite painful as she really pushed the thing into me to get the right angle. however, all for a good cause. we're having a baby apparently we didn't find out the sex! first time dh has seen this little one on tv so was nice to do that together.

i am hungry a lot of the time but don't fancy anything i can think of to eat. not really thinking about choc or cakes like i did with ds. mostly wanting toast or sandwiches. mmm. i may have a pre-dinner snack!

i am so hormonal. keep getting really annoyed with people and really snappy. also finding it hard to let things go in my head. it's like permenant pmt. hopefully i'll get it in check soon.

rubyslippers · 22/05/2009 17:36

LOL @ "we're having a baby"

so pleased it is all ok

hackneybird · 22/05/2009 18:06

Have a nice bank holiday weekend everyone. x

HappyTangerine · 22/05/2009 20:16

MrsKitty and DevilsAdvocaat - congrats on the scans!

MeHimCatBob- it was me who was asking about pins and needles in the arm. Thanks for the tip, I'll make it my mission to find that splint this weekend.

rubyslippers - I'm craving ice, all the time.

Had lovely afternoon shopping with mother in law, sister in law and my neice. Shattered now tho! My 25 wk check-up has been booked for the 15th Jan. Tis our mission to find a new sofa and somewhere to go on holiday this weekend, we're hoping to go mid June for 2 weeks. Sorrento/Amalfi is winning so far, if we can get a good last minute deal.

Echoing hackneybird's best wishes for the bank holiday weekend, hope we all get some decent weather!

HappyTangerine · 22/05/2009 20:17

Meant to say 25 wk check-up for 15th JUNE. One day,I will post on this thread without making typos...

smallone · 23/05/2009 09:23

Morning all, well its a gorgeous day here, thankyou MrsKitty! Woke up to a bright blue sky with one tiny white fluffy cload in the middle. Lovely! DH is working today but off sun, mon, tue, so hopefully we'll get to do something productive this weekend!

I'm not craving anything yet, in fact I'm still struggling to find anything I want to eat! Jordans strawberry crisp is the only cereal I can tolerate and I have to eat that before I've woken up properly and have time to think about it! Other than than, I've cooked tea a few times this week and then not eaten it myself! Still, I've got plenty of reserves to sustain baby! I think I've discovered why a bit of a fuss has been made of my weight this time, when I was having my scan there was a poster at the hosp about BMI in pregnancy and how certain hospitals were monitoring pg women this year to see their BMI vs the outcomes of their pregnancy.

Glad its not just me with the MIL thing, I don't know what it is, she's perfectly capable of looking after dd, its just that my parenting style is the same as my mums. And my mum knows when to make herself scarce!

Does anyone know anything about chicken pox? Friends DS has it and was wondering if its worth taking DD round to catch it. I've definitely had it myself and seem to remember its only a prob in pregnancy at the beginning and the end.

smallone · 23/05/2009 09:24

cloud not cload!

rubyslippers · 24/05/2009 09:47

hi all

glorious weekend so far - managed a BBQ yesterday and lots of time outside

we are off to a posho garden centre later whcih has a mini railway and loads of animals so DS will love it

smallone - have no idea re CP but have a feeling you may be right, You can always call NHS Direct

anyone elses toddler a terror for kicking ATM?? DS caught me right in the tummy today - not sure what it is but he is 90% angel and 10% devil ...

princessmel · 24/05/2009 20:17

Hi everyone
Got back from Mallorca yesterday so haven't read all the posts yet. I will catch up after this.

We went with dh's family (15 of us in total) and stayed in a villa. It was lovely but the whole of them can be very loud altogether!

We were so lucky and had fantastic weather. It was late 20's every day. I was worried as it's not high season yet.
Kids had an amazing time and were in the pool and sea loads I did lots of lying down and reading and taking photos. I'll put some on my profile.

Heard the HB the morning we left England and then again this morning when we got home. Was a relief to hear it again. I know I had no need to worry but I was a bit worried about the flight and the sun etc.

I hope everyone's ok.

princessmel · 24/05/2009 20:47

Oh and my scan date is June 4th

I am not on the list of important dates sob

rubyslippers · 25/05/2009 08:01

Hi all

Got back from Cyprus late last night-am knackered! Had a fantastic time-as did dd! They were having a heat wave-was in the early 30's every day! Didn't seem as hot as there was a lovely breeze! DD swam all day every day-not sure how she'll cope with the boredom of being back home! She had 9 women paying her constant attention whilst being outside and in the pool/sea-she was a very very happy bunny!
Glad to be back to see dp but wish we were still there!
Tis raining here this morning -I hope it cheers up soon!

Have tried to catch up on the thread! My prediction was correct-it was a week of boys! Looks quite even now! Congratulations on all the scans!

Baby has become very good at reassuring me-whenever I think I haven't felt anything for a while there is a load of movement! Tis VERY active at the moment-may be liking the rain!

Can't believe the amount of washing and stuff I need to sort out!

I'm in the leaving buying stuff for a while camp-don't really need to buy much but do at some point need to get all dd's stuff down and sort it through and wash it-will leave that for a while! Might get my sis in to help-she likes organising things!!!!

I hope everyone is well x x x

Whoops!

Princessmel-just copy and paste and add yourself in-can't miss you off the list !

Have a great day everyone!

DevilsAdvocaat · 25/05/2009 10:34

oi you lot with your fancy holiday news! we actually don't want to hear where you've been swanning off to ok?!

has anyone else noticed a big increase in appetite around the 20 week mark? i am starving. i actually can't believe how pg i look today as well. i seem to have woken up twice the lady that i was when i went to bed last night.

halfway through, woo hoo!

must go an eat something (again).

hackneybird · 25/05/2009 12:58

Nice to see you back princess and sam, glad you had a good time. Am v. envious. We have cancelled our trip to Italy in order to save money.

Devil yes I have started eating a lot more all of a sudden, and I have suddenly 'bloomed'. I have finally started to look properly pregnant. I am trying v. hard to snack on fruit and yogurts etc. as I really don't want to pile on excessive weight. Although I had TWO cornettos yesterday. .

KleineMaus · 25/05/2009 14:42

I was just about to post about food too. I can't stop eating today, in particular biscuits. Not good. princess and Sam's holidays sound great. I'm off to Orkney in a couple of weeks, not quite the same...

Had my scan last week. All fine thankfully. Don't know the sex, despite dh asking . They won't tell you here. Names-wise thinking of Astrid or Ingrid for a girl and Evan or Magnus for a boy. We have a feeling it might be a boy, although dh has now confessed a wish for a girl. I don't really mind, except that I'm keener on my girls names than my boys ones.

peachespaige · 25/05/2009 16:10

Hi all. What beautiful weather!!!
All of the holidays sound perfect, we are going away next Monday for 2 weeks to Gran Canaria, wanted somewhere with guaranteed sun .
Chicken Pox is more worrying at the begining and end of pregnancy I believe.

Im hungry a lot and have the attitude of "cant drink etc so Im not denying myself sweets, crisps, biscuits......." Thats going to blow up in my face!
Ive put on about 7lbs at 18 weeks but I was about a stone over my happy weight to begin with so I look bigger already plus my tummy is huge but a bit wobbly again!
Well off to eat......

princessmel · 25/05/2009 16:49

Hello.....I've added some pictures to my profile from the holiday. You can't really see the bump very well in them though.

I am not feeling too hungry at the moment and because of that am trying to eat a bit better. I was eating so much in the beginning!

I am also not buying anything yet. It seems so early. Plus we have so much stuff from the other dc's.
I don't even think we need anything apart from nappies.

My friend has lent us a crib, not sure if it rocks or not!!
