Morning all

Hope everyone's had a good weekend. I've just started to think about names too, I have a question for everyone... My DC's are Poppy and Freddie, do you think I could go for another name ending in ie/y (I'm liking Amelie, Tilly) or should I choose something with a different ending (I'm liking Eva or Emilia)? What do you think would sound the best?

Is there any more scans today??

LittleMissBliss · 18/05/2009 09:07

Morning all,

25 hours untill my scan........not that i'm counting or anything..!

Not sure about names as yet going to make a shortlist when i know the sex..in 25 hours .

20 weeks today. Can't believe i'm halfway already!

Hope you have a great holidays sammysam and littlepea.

Hope you enjoyed your weekend away HC.

Please try not to worry about movement, I don't think you should be feeling lots if any movement at this stage. Just a bonus if you can. It doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the baby if you can't. I know it's easier said than done.

Hi all, Scan at 2.40 today so nervous and excited at same time. Hoping that the medication I am taking for the chest & sinus infection isn't going to skew my blood tests.

Still not sure if we want to find out the sex

BedProb · 18/05/2009 10:40

you better make your mind up HT!

hackneybird · 18/05/2009 10:58

V. of all the scans, I have to wait until 28th May! That's a week on Thursday. An age away.

Twinkle, you should call no.3 whatever you want regardless of the ending! although I can see how you'd worry about it sounding a touch twee. I see you like the name Eva, that's on my list too. Eva or Ava, I like them both. Although I am having very strong boy sensations, so I should start thinking about boy's names too.

smallone · 18/05/2009 11:17

Morning all,
Thought I'd put down a few things about movement that I've gleaned. It seems that the obstetric profession agree that you shouldn't expect daily movement till 25-28wks, that previous c-sections or other gyne surgery can kill some of the nerves so you feel less, and the position of the baby and the placenta can affect things. If the placenta is lower on the front wall where you feel early movements, this will dull the sensation, and if the baby is kicking/punching towards your back you are less likely to feel it.

Also personally I can only feel kicks when sitting down and when I'm not doing anything else so if you're busy rushing around alot you're less likely to notice it.

I hope that puts some minds at rest.

Got my scan tomorrow, not going to find out sex. Just want to make sure its not twins, coz my first scan was so fast I don't think she can have checked properly!

twinklegreen · 18/05/2009 11:20

hackneybird Eva was my dh Grandmothers name I like Ava too, only problem is one of my best friends is going to have Ava if she has a girl and is due a few weeks before me , so i'll have to hope she has a boy!!

peachespaige · 18/05/2009 11:47

Hi all, just a quickie.

Oh no Twinkle, how annoying that a friend might go for Ava. Some friends of mine in the past have unwittingly chosen names that were on my list. I've always kept this list very quiet though so they don't know that.

We're going to keep completely silent about the names we choose, for all the usual reasons. Don't want people making faces at us when we tell them what we are considering!

Lameez · 18/05/2009 12:34

Hi Everyone

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, i slept the whole weekend it was so relaxing i cant wait for this bank holiday so i can sleep somemore, i know it all sounds so boring but thats the thing i love the most at the moment.

My MS is back for real now, its so annoying i cant eat anything and im so tinny.... I was realy hoping i would gain some weight as iv always weight an average of between 45 - 47 kgs...

My little cherub has been moving loads but its mainly in the morning and the late afternoon it has a little routine now its so sweet, there are just light thumps but i guess i feel it more as im so skinny.... Everyone still thinks its too soon as im only 16+2

Good Luck to all scans coming up, Hackneybird my scan in only on the 19th of June, im well of everyone...

Oh and i think the name Ava is so sweet i love it.... Here's hoping you friend has a boy...awwww

Lameez · 18/05/2009 12:37

Sorry for the mix up i meant Twinkle ....

Forgive silly me... im at work and doing two things at once...

KKKKaty · 18/05/2009 12:46

Hello all!

Well, we've just been for my 20 week scan, and despite me being convinced for some reason that we were having a girl, we're not - we're having a boy!! I really didn't mind either way, but I'm glad I found out so I've got time to get my head around the fact that it's not a girl! DH is really chuffed although he didn't mind either way either. The scan went really well, all the bits are in the right place and working fine, so that's a relief too.

And now we can shop!!!! Hurrah. All in all, a very good day.

hackneybird · 18/05/2009 12:49

Congrats Katy, about time we had a boy or two on the list.

You must be very relieved.

xx

LittleMissBliss · 18/05/2009 13:09

Congratulations katy!!! Boys are lovely!

OOh shopping can't wait....

Lameez-sorry about the MS returning.

HappyTangerine-of course you want to know the sex. Good Luck!

smallone and LittleMissBliss-good luck for your scans tomorrow.

Lol-we went on a caravan site with electricity so I could use my GHDs. DD1 cam down with Chicken Pox so was poorly all weekend and it rained but we did have a nice time.

Oh, must have jinxed DH's puter too.

Treats · 18/05/2009 15:33

Hi everyone.

Can't remember who was asking whether £50 a day was good value for a nursery in Central london, but I can tell you that our local nursery in Battersea is £69 a day - so think you're on a winner there!

Loving the names that people are choosing! KKKaty - congrats on having a boy.

MHCB - pleased to hear that your back pain is easing. I know you went private in the end but it's good that your consultant was able to sort out all those NHS appointments for you.

Had an absolutely horrible day yesterday. I have a very good friend who has recently been for her third course of IVF, and I've been really praying that it works for her this time. Found out yesterday that, not only has it not worked, but that her not-so-DP is now saying he'll leave her if she can't have his baby. It's his "human right" to have a child apparently . I could feel my bump pressing up between us as I hugged her (couldn't think of anything to say) and felt absolutely awful. It just makes me feel so to think that DH and I are so happy and looking forward to the birth of our baby - which just seems such a simple thing - but for other people it's so hard........

hackneybird · 18/05/2009 16:45

OMG Treats I feel so for your friend. Her DP sounds like a class A b***d.

A dear friend of mine is having trouble conceiving also and it is really upsetting for them. I was dreading breaking my news to her, but she was good about it.

HappyTangerine · 18/05/2009 17:22

Had scan, there was a gynae clinic on at the same time so we were 40 mins late going in. Had loads of missed calls from family by the time we came out. Anyway...

Curiosity did get the better of me - so much so that when the sonographer turned the scan around, it was the first thing I asked!

Everything fine and we are having a... BOY! . So our instincts were right. He was wriggling about so much that the scan pic isn't that great but he gave us a little wave and did some busy kicks before helpfully showing us his bits!

KKKaty - congratulations . We're slowly catching up with the girls

smallone and LittleMissBliss - good luck for tomorrow

HC glad you had a good time at the caravan, I did wonder with all the mad weather we had over the weekend. Hope your DD isn't too ill with the chicken pox.

Treats I so feel for your friend, her DP sounds horrible

HappyTangerine · 18/05/2009 17:23

ooh, forgot to say welcome to the newbies , big wave

rubyslippers · 18/05/2009 17:47

kkaty and tangerine - let's hear it for the boys!!!

So funny about curiosity getting the better - me and DH had a wobble at our scan last week but baby had its legs frimly shut

treats - how awful for your friend - he sounds like a git

hope everyone else is ok - just realised we have a long weekend coming up with the bank holiday

actually feeling a bit daft - been really sore since my scan last week. The scan took ages and they were fairly rough ... do you think i should call MW or is that just silly

CookieMonster1 · 18/05/2009 17:49

Hello everyone.

Had my 20 week scan last week and it's a boy. So I think that makes 5 girls, 3 boys so far looking at the dates list.

Happy news!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 18/05/2009 18:12

I am scheduled in for my scan on 1st June and trip to consultants.

Feeling really tired today.

Treats - sorry to hear about your friend. how crappy of her DP!
