Hi everyone

How exciting to hear about all the girls. And names already as well! My scan is this time next week, but I think DH and I have definitely decided that we don't want to know. If the sonographer asks, though, I bet it will be a case of N.....Yes!

Not feeling the baby as much today or yesterday, so am relieved to hear the feedback about not being able to feel it really consistently until about 25 weeks. Trying not to worry......

rubyslippers · 14/05/2009 12:01

hi everyone

We are deffo due some boys! Am CONVINCED i am having a boy - the scan pictures look the spitting image of DS and he is lying awkwardly (just like DS)

Fidelma - have not really heard much about the blood bank thing ... what is the benefit?

Smallone - am ROFL @ the 7 dwarves! I have been sleepy, sicky and grumpy (poor DH)

Devils - are you feeling perkier today?

I am so tired - had such a hectic week at work. Have a late meeting tonight

Love to everyone - have good days one and all

DevilsAdvocaat · 14/05/2009 12:41

hellooo

yes i'm feeling perky today. just got back from work and scoffed some chocolate which helps! feeling pretty tired but at least it didn't rain whilst i was walking to work.

at those who haven't gained weight yet. your time wil come

fid we didn't bank cord blood last time and will not be doing it this time either. what happens when they do it though?

i have no strong feelings as to what i am having! can't wait to meet him or her though. it is FAR too early to be getting impatient .

BellaCullen · 14/05/2009 13:19

Congratulations on all the good scans and can`t believe how many girls we have now.Am so jealous off you alreday having had scan I still have to wait 2 weeks am so impatient. If baby has legs crossed thinking of having 3D scan am so desperate to know the sex.Think its a boy but secretely hoping its a girl.I love all the clothes you can get and am complete girly girl love buying dolls and other girly toys. Will obviously be happy with boy too and ds is desperate for a brother and we always have next time.Already thinking about next baby its definitely hormones was like this with dd until she was 4 months old and the broodiness went.

Anyone got any cravings?Had cravings for tomatoe salad in last 2 weeks not sure whether its the tomatoes or the vinegar. Its obviously something body needs so I1l just eat what it wants.Havent put any weight on yet either am sure that day will come and then it won`t stop.

Seen the physio this week for my SPD which was good she gave me whole list of things not to do like vaccuming and pushing trolleys. It was really good and make sure I bend down right and sit properly.

DevilsAdvocaat sorry youre having a bad day dont worry its definitely hormones and we all have days like that.I was shouting and ranting at kids mon as they were just driving me mad put them to bed at 6.30pm just to get some peace and quiet.

Flamesparrow glad youre having a good week and youve got such a nice friend.

fidelma how annoying they wont tell you the sex good luck with youre scan next week.Would love to bank the cord blood just don`t have the money for it.

Sorry its such a long post about me me me.
20 weeks tomorrow x

HappyTangerine · 14/05/2009 13:54

Hi all
Fairly quick post as have to take evil antibiotics in a mo which will render me useless. Husband dragged me to doctors this morning-turns out my stuffy nose/feeling of being hit in nose with a football is actually acute sinusitis and I have a chest infection to go with it. The only antibiotic I can take gives me terrible stomach cramps and nausea so its going to be a fun 7 days! I was so upset when she prescribed them that I burst into tears in the car, I really really hate these tablets but at least they won't affect baby.Pain has been worse than the infected wisdom tooth I had so looking forward to feeling better by next week.

(says quietly) I think we're going to find out the sex next Monday

Fidelma-congrats on the blood test result

Devils-so glad you are feeling better

HalfMum-sorry you had such a scare. I feel baby move on and off and stress if I don't. Find lying gently on my tummy usually does it, along with eating ice lollies(but not at same time

BellaCullen - how odd, I'm thinking about the next baby as well. Told DH last night and he looked at me like I was a bit mental. He'll be relieved to hear its hormones!

Cravings - yes, I am craving ice, big time.

Big hug to everyone feeling rotten x

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 14/05/2009 18:55

Thanks for lovely messages. Feeling a lot better today. Managed to get away with having the afternoon off work by saying I'd rather not talk about it....and no one noticed I'd got my mum to call in sick for me. I had to though as was so upset, crying and stuff, they'd have all been really worried.

Todays complaint is back ache and weariness at work by 4pm. Am now on sofa with laptop and duvet (and DS who is watching Ice Age).

Hope you feel better Happy and all those with our lovely pg symptoms, aches pains and hormones.

Still craving pineapple, marshmallows and cheese and pickle sandwiches.

I am 18 weeks but not had notice of next scan yet... impatient!

patmum · 14/05/2009 20:29

Hi All

We hHad our anomoly scan today. All is well as far as they can tell. So good news. No we didn't find out the gender. When I asked how bit it was she said Barbie/Action man sized which was so much easier to relate to than x cm!

Bit of a shock when we realised that next time we see the baby it will no longer be via a scan. OMG how the hell am I going to deal with a new born all over again?

The house seems to be moving well, the surveys etc are all on track and the solicitor seems to be on the ball which is good. We hope to exchange in early JUne and complete in early July.

Visited the doctor again and he's not keen to "treat" me as such for any depression but is keen that I don't get any worse. Advised me to take some time off work but I had to say it isn't possible until July. I have to go back in a few weeks so that he can check on me. I hate being so out of control of my emotions.

Oh well, roll on July. When I will either have made my target and get a bonus in September (basically my maternity pay) or I won't and we'll just have to cope - new mortgage and all, not ideal but hey ho!

sammysam · 15/05/2009 08:22

Hi all.
Ive felt much sicker this pregnancy, I didnt at all with my boys.....not another girl surely?
Im going out tonight with dp for a friends birthday, its in a club! Not really too excited about it.
There is so much going on this year by way of celebrations, weddings, birthdays (30ths), hen nights all of which Ill be pregnant for. Thats the only thing, to get these beautiful babies we have to be pregnant!
Still no movements and Ill be 17 weeks on Monday. Im wondering if there is something wrong with bean, too worried to go to doctors. I have to wait until the Antenatal Clinic on Wednesday anyway.
Well thats all for now.

littlepea72 · 15/05/2009 15:54

Hey Everyone

Just writing now as im going to Euro Disney tomorrow morning until Thursday. Well, i hope we are going. DS is ill, took him to the doctors and he has more spots on his tonsils & also some bug. Went to drive him home & he has been sick all over the car & himself....3 times! We are going to check what he is like tomorrow morning, and if he is still bad then we will cancel. Just phoned the in-laws to tell them, as they are flying out tomorrow, just incase. Dont think a 6 hr car drive would be good with a sick child. It means losing out on the money, but hey, he is more important. Why does things always happen at the last minute? Its for his 5th birthday too....

Oh well....i hope everyone is ok. Im finding it hard also finding something to eat. I make it then dont want it.....

Sammysam have a great holiday!!!

CalypsoFlame · 15/05/2009 18:33

Hello all!
ooh some nice holidays (or not littlepea if your DS doesn't perk up ), wouldn't mind getting away.

Supposed to be going to a 'primary school reunion' tomorrow, but transpires that out of about 45, only 2 of my friends that I still see fairly regularly are going, heh. I hope there are some suprise visits, otherwise waste of time going back to my old city...

HalfMumHalfBiscuit I know exactly what you mean about the fretting of non-movement. I've been feeling baby move quite a lot recently, but today nothing. Had to spend some time trying to relocate the doppler and relieved to hear a HB of c150bpm which I think is ok? So perhaps she was just having a day off! Pretty scary though

There was talk of nursery visiting which prompted me to PANIC that I haven't even thought about logistics of childcare. My university has a small nursery which charges £50 a day - is that about average? It's in central London, but then I live in central London so could be normal for locality? How does one pick a good nursery? What kind of things would you look for as important? It would only be for 1-2 days a week but I want it to be as nice as we can (barely) afford!

Have a nice weekend!
x

20+3

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 15/05/2009 22:17

Calypso -£50 per day seems a lot especially for a university nursery. Mine is £30/day but we live in the middle of nowhere in wales so quite different price range. I am sure someone else will be along to tell you some different costs.

My DS loves his nursery. It is small, 10 or so children. Good age range in the carers which means you've got some energetic young girls, nice mummy types and a granny aged nursery worker which works really well.

I'd check out what they do for a day plan and what they feed them. Make sure they don't get left watching tv too often.

I booked DS in whilst I was pregnant to secure a place.

I didn't do this (wish I had) but it might be good for you to pick a place near the school you want them to go to so they can pick up and drop off after school so you can still go to work. I am having problems arranging wrap around childcare at the moment.

Good luck at the school reunion.

littlepea72 · 16/05/2009 04:43

We are off to Euro Disney!! Hooray!! See you all next week...be good!!! xxx

Supercherry · 16/05/2009 12:58

Hello Everyone,

Can I join you? I was on the November thread but found out at my 12wk scan that I'm actually due on the 29th October.

Is there a list of everyone on here somewhere- I can't seem to find it?

Thank you x

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 16/05/2009 14:23

Supercherry welcome. You could probably go on both threads!

Not sure where the full list is. Might be on a different thread. I am sure one of the lovely ladies on here will enlighten us...

CalypsoFlame · 16/05/2009 15:07

Hello Supercherry

Welcome to the October thread (although as you will see from the Thread List

www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=2290&threadid=723618&o=1242482534985#15452777

Some of us are due in September )

If you like, you can also pop the number of DC you currently have (if any!), your 20wk scan date, and if / when you know the gender of your baby. As you can see we're currently 6 girls to 1 boy .

Supercherry · 16/05/2009 19:43

Thank you for welcomes, hope I haven't messed up list. I have a 15mth old DS already. Not sure if I want to know the sex this time round. Really can't decide. I won't know my 2nd scan date until I have spoken to the consultant at the hospital about the last birth. Not sure if I want to go for a caesarean this time round. As you can see I'm very indecisive.

Morning all. Sory for the me, me, me posts of late, just a bit worried.
For all of you lucky enough to be going away have a wonderful time rain or shine!!
Ive decided to book a Drs appointment for Wednesday and see what she thinks about the non movement.
Sammysam could the cramps be stretching of the Uterus, it can be quite painful, stops me in my tracks.
I have been experiencing a sort of tightening/ pushing on the left side of my tummy. I seem to remember the same feeling with my boys when they were bigger and used to roll over, Who knows.
Have a good day all.

MeHimCatBlob · 17/05/2009 13:23

morning all. Hope you're all having a great weekend?

Saw my consultant on Thursday (appointment was only 1.5 hours late) and promptly burst into tears as my back was so painful. She has referred me to the orthopedic consultant, anaethetist and specialist physio unit to try and sort things out but it potentially another 2 weeks before i get to see the physio so bit the bullet and went to see my usual (private) physio on Friday and am so happy that i did as today i can actually stand up straight and walk without my back giving out which is sooo nice. Apart from hot packs, can anyone recommend anything to relieve the back ache? Does anyone know if its safe to use things like tiger balm or deep heat?

enough moaning, off to the sunshine

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 17/05/2009 16:31

MeHim - sounds like you did the right thing with the physio. Its amazing when you can walk again after feeling so bad.

When my back has been bad having a rest on the sofa with cushions and hot water bottle has worked or lying down with knees up to press lower back into bed/floor.

I've had a few days at work where by 4pm want to cry as back hurting so bad.

Got my scan date at last. It is on same day as consultant appointment. Consultant first then scan.

Anyone know what to talk about at the consultant appointment, mine is cos had EC last time.

patmum · 17/05/2009 16:38

Hi

Peaches I hadn't realised quite how different different pregnancies are. This one #2 is SOOO active so it's only now I realise that DS was really inactive as I barely felt him much at all. It seems that so long as they are self consistent it isn't so much of a worry.

MHCB I don't know if it's worth checking out but I was speaking to a GP friend recently (rather than my own GP) and apparently the only issue with ibuprofen is in the last trimester. I've been lucky so far in that my back has only given me occasional twinges but if it did get really bad again I think I would be asking very specifically whether I could take it.

mrsgamp · 17/05/2009 17:17

Hello,

I joined this thread a while back, but have never contributed. I have been constantly stalking you all though!!

I am really thinking of peachespaige at the moment. Peaches, I am also pregnant with number 3 - 17+3 weeks - and I too haven't felt any movement. I had felt my other two long before this time, especially no.2 - boy - who, like yours, was really active.

I have put on a lot of weight since my previous pregnancies and have thought that my extra bulk is the reason I can't feel the baby.

I'm quite relaxed about things at the moment, but my husband and dad are getting a little alarmed. I bet we'll be complaining about are wriggly babies keeping us awake before long!

All the best for Wednesday.

HumphreysCorner · 17/05/2009 20:46

Am back from the caravan so quick hello and just to say that Willmouse due 17-10 has no movements whatsoever with her baby (No3) so she went on Friday and the MW found the HB. So it is possible not to feel anything yet.

Hi Supercherry-you are most welcome.

Big wave!

HC

DevilsAdvocaat · 18/05/2009 07:09

supercherry have added your details to the dates list.

welcome newbies!

the movement thing is such a worry, i remember being concerned last time, esp as the baby gets bigger and doesn't move around as much.

this weekend my hormone have been running wild. has not been very enjoyable, i hope i stop feeling so up and down soon. it's the halfway point for me this week and my scan is on friday so i feel like i have something to look forward to.

i had a course all day saturday and had to sit on a very hard chair all day. i had a numb bum by the end! which is surpriing considering the padding

how is everyone doing with names? we have some but i keep changng my mind completely. i think we have a boy's name sorted but girls are harder imo.

we ate some radishes from the garden at the weekend too! i can't believe i actually grew something now i'm really excited about the rest of the crop.

hc how was the caravan trip? did you survive without your straighteners?!
