Thanks Calypso and LMB, I sure everything will be great when she arrives and, as you say, she doesn't have to be dressed in pink frilly dresses (thank god!). I just feel a little guilty I'm not more excited she's a girl.

Calypso - glad I'm not the only girl with very very limited make up! I have a foundation and one mascara to my name.

Quick question. I keep feeling twinges in my lower tummy - like little muscle spasms. Is that the baby? It's in the right place and I feel it a lot in the evening and when I'm in the bath. It's getting more frequent and does feel like little kicks and wriggles but it's not like the 'bubbles' people describe.

LittleMissBliss · 11/05/2009 22:15

IDOB they could be braxton hicks. I've had them in my lower back. But only when i've been standing for a long time, like at work this weekend just gone!

Not own make up! I can't leave the house without my 'face' on! I look ill!

SassJ Congratulations to your sister! It will be lovely having children the same age.
My sisters are 7&9 years younger than me, so by the time they have children mine could be teens!

yay for sammysam's girl!

dh felt baby move at the weekend, i can see my tummy flicker when i get a big kick now too.

feeling tired, had my bsl exam last night and they put me second to last to go in. it was about 9 o'clock and my brain had completely switched off. felt like i didn't do as good as i could have but fingers crossed i passed.

idob when your baby gets here you won't be able to imagine having anything else! they just fit in with you, i promise

idreamofbeanie · 12/05/2009 08:18

Hi all,

thanks again for not making me feel crazy yesterday . After a goods nights sleep I feel much happier this morning and realised I wasn't actually worried about the baby being a girl just a bit overwhelmed. Between the scans and checks, seeing the new house we are moving to and visiting our works nursery, yesterday was a busy day - no wonder I felt a bit anxious. Especially after seeing the nursery - they invited me to visit when I joined the waiting list but I had no idea what to look for or what I should ask. I think that's what brought on the new mum panic and made me feel I have no clue what I am doing. I woke up this morning with a big smile on my face and feeling really excited about meeting my little girl in a few months !

Congratulations sammysam!

LMB - it takes me forever to put my face on as I have so little practice but when this little bean wants to learn I'll send her over to you .

Devil - fingers crossed your exam went better than you felt. When do you get the results?

Flame - yah for scan date

SassJ - congrats on your new baby niece. The time till your scan will fly by - I found it dragged until the 12 week scan but went really fast to this one.

HappyTangerine · 12/05/2009 09:43

Idreamofbeanie and SammySam - congrats on the scans and your little girls

CalypsoFlame - yay for Star Trekand sci fi nerds. Um, I'm another one not that keen on make-up-I have foundation and lipstick but thats pretty much it. Me and mascara don't get on, I always end up looking like a a)smudged eyed goth or b)panda!

Idreamofbeanie - Glad you're feeling better now the shock has worn off. I also completely understand where you are coming from, have been secretly hoping for a boy as am a complete tomboy. I spent most of my childhood either playing football or rock climbing, dolls were not my favourite thing! I was 11 when my sister was born and had great fun indtroducing her to my tomboy activities although she is definately more girly than me now!

Sammysam - so sorry you had such a scare.

SassJ - aw, congrats to your sister. I am dreaming/praying of a short labour, esp as moth of my mum's were 36 to 48 hours. I think ante-natal classes are going to scare the hell out of me.Told my mum last night that I was hoping/praying for a 4-6hr labour in a positive thinking way and she broke into hysterical laughter.I'm scared now.

DevilsAdvocaat - you will have donen far better than you expected. Good luck with the results [fingers crossed icon]

Go up feeling great desoite being unable to breathe out of my nose(3 weeks and counting - I MISS my nose and sense of smell ). Did two lots of washing by 8am. Was about to go swimming and them morning sickness came back with a vengeance. Am hoping its a one off.

Looking forward to more scan news

HappyTangerine · 12/05/2009 09:45

princessmel · 12/05/2009 09:55

sammysam thanks for posting on the slapped cheeck thread

HappyTangerine my nose is exactly the same. very frustrating needing to blow my nose ALL the time!

My mind has gone blank to everybody's news. Sorry!

Lovely too see the sex's of all the babies
We are going to have to wait 24 + more weeks to find out what we're having!! I keep swinging back and forth between thinking it's a girl or a boy.
I think it is most likely to be a boy though. There are so many boys in my family and on dh's side of the family. dd was the first girl born in my family since I was born!!

littlepea72 · 12/05/2009 15:13

Hello....

Great news on the scans....little girls!!!

Had a bit of a scare yesterday, i was having back pain with sharpe pains in my tummy, then left with a sore feeling on the right side of tummy. I seen my MW today & had to go get some tests done. They had a good feel of my tummy & said that i was to high & big for the due date i had, so they said that it was either: Im further on that we thought, big baby or twins that had been missed! Scans say that im still due on the 12th Oct, only 1 baby to be seen, so they all think im having a very big baby!!! This scares me as DH's Father was a big 14lbs! Im only 5 ft 1, so they are going to keep an eye on me. They could see the ripples on my tummy when the baby moved. What i have been feeling is the baby moving and curling up....Im feeling the baby move so much now, which is great, but im a bit shocked at what has happened today. Must admit, I am glad its not twins!

littlepea72 · 12/05/2009 15:16

Oh god have i gotten it right...14 pounds, is that written as 14lb?? Well you all know what i mean! LOL....

lixanismapolium · 12/05/2009 15:35

Litlepea 14LB ....... OMG!!!! That is HUGE! DD was 6lb 13oz and that was big enough - less than half the weight of your DH's father!

At least everything is OK, but you might get really uncomfortable towards the end if the baby really is going to be that big.

DevilsAdvocaat · 12/05/2009 15:57

14lbs holy moly!
ds was 8lbs 13 oz and was so long!
i bet a 14lb baby looks like it's a few months old.

Flamesparrow · 12/05/2009 16:02

Ouch at 14lb! I thought my mate's 12lber was huge

MrsKitty · 12/05/2009 16:57

littlepea Don't panic too much about the estimated weight of the baby from a scan - I was scanned 24hrs before I gave birth to DS and they said he'd be "11 1/2 lbs at least" - he was 9lb 6oz (which is quite big enough, thanks very much, but some way off their prediction a day previous! )

I've had quite similar sounding pains to what you've described a couple of times over the past few weeks - I just put them down to uterus stretching/baby shifting - they've disappeared now. Scan next week so will mention it then.

SassJ · 12/05/2009 17:14

Hey LittlePea, sorry you had a scare yesterday, but like Mrs Kitty says, try not to worry too much.
I'm due the same day as you and I've been getting dreadful back pain and tummy twinges over the past week or so. I've just started to feel the baby doing somersaults this week and I'm 5'9" and a pre-preg size 16, so not surprised that you at 5'1" are feeling it (and seeing it!) more keenly. I'm guessing that much of the discomfort is because the abdominal muscles part around now (causes the linea nigra in some of us). Plus as MrsK said, everything is moving and stretching now because those babies are turning into little people so fast!
Hope you're feeling OK - and hey, enjoy that you've had extra tests/scan and everything looks OK!

theboob · 12/05/2009 17:56

congratulations on the scans.......girls how lovely

sorry about all recent scares, my little bean decided to scare me by not moving for a day and a night.......very active today thank god

have my scan tomorrow and i really cant wait, but that time of concentration from the sonographer i will have my heart in my mouth , will report back tomorrow what we are having as soon as i get back

littlepea72 · 12/05/2009 18:15

I know that i wouldnt have a baby anywhere near 14lb, thank god! If i did then i would faint on the spot lol. My FIL was telling me earlier that his mother had 10 off them, all between 11lb & 14lb! That woman must of been made of steel. I can feel were the baby is sitting, it does feel like a mild pain, slightly to the side, so if i bend over it hurts, im hoping that it moves over soon . Also glad that im not the only one with these pains, it makes me feel more normal.

Well done Flame to your friend, 12lb...did she do it without having a c-section?

SassJ...wonder if we will go on the same day?

Theboob...enjoy your scan tomorrow, are you finding out the sex??

Im off to lie down now, feeling very tired & very sick, but my mind is relaxed! Hope everyone is feeling well

littlepea72 · 12/05/2009 18:17

Must ask my MIL if she has a picture of my FIL when he was born, then i will post it on here, bet he must of looked like a 3 month old!

peachespaige · 12/05/2009 18:47

Hi all. Congrats on the scans. We arent going to find out the sex. I have 2 boys already and would be happy enough with a third, bit bored of blue though.....

I have an awful blocked nose and nose bleeds. I had this with my pther pregnancies too. I still havent really felt the baby move yet (Im 16 weeks), so Im a bit worried, felt ds2 earlier than this.....

Well thats all to report for now.xx

HappyTangerine · 12/05/2009 19:34

LittlePea sorry you had such a scare, glad everything is okay. Twins would have been a right shock!

The idea of having a big baby alarms me- my sister was around 13lb 9 when she was born - 2 weeks overdue and without aid of a c-section. (There's an 11yr gap btwn us so I remember this well). My mum was 38 at the time and lost a lot of blood, not good as she is v anaemic anyway. My sister went straight into the next size up of babygrows, she was v long!

TheBoob - good luck for tomorrow

peachespaige - try not to worry, I didn't feel much at 16 weeks either and then suddenly I startd getting flutterings. They're more like little flips now.

Have had a real nothing day- was sick again and have rotten headache. Didn't feel baby move for most of the day and got a bit worried unti I ate an ice lolly and it suddenly woke up. I do miss my nose though. Best thing I've found to help the congestion is to leave the shower running for a bit and go stand in the bathroom. Terrible waste of water I know but at least I can breathe properly for a bit.

LittleMissBliss · 12/05/2009 22:46

Just checking in,

Boob good luck for the scan tomorrow!

sammysam · 13/05/2009 07:57

Morning all!

Sounds like we have a few babies between us that like to keep us on our toes!!
I still can't get those images and panic out of my head-really must stop it NOW!

God-some of these weights DD was 8lbs 14 which was big enough! Quite glad it is another girl as hopefully that'll keep the weight down a bit at least that is what i'm trying to tell myself!!!!

I'm still getting a few pains-so have just assumed it all must be normal stretching etc-would be nice not to have it though!

Good luck for the scan today boob

Have a lovely day everyone-we're off to see Boogie Beebies at the theatre at lunchtime-should be interesting!!!!

rubyslippers · 13/05/2009 07:57

rubyslippers · 13/05/2009 09:43

lameez - the 19th June is around 5 weeks away so you would be 20 + weeks?

have you had your 12 week scan?

where we are you have to book your 20 week scan after you have had the 12 week one

if in doubt about the procedure then call your MW
