ICBINB-that is fantastic news! How nice that she has said that-and great for the B/H weekend! I now feel much happier about my consultant being stingy with the scans-I have one on monday and then prob one at 28wks

I'm trying to get dp to agree to a 4d scan-he thinks it is a stupid idea-but i'd really like to see this baby that has caused us so much stress already

It has also made me feel more positive about going on the holiday......thanks ICBINB!!!

LittleMissBliss · 05/05/2009 11:37

Morning all,

Great news with the scan ICBINB!

Not much to report here 18+1! two weeks untill scan today, getting really excited now.

Hope you all have alovely day.

Hi all never posted on here before so am a complete novice!

I'm an NCT antenatal teacher and have started running classes in West Norfolk for the first time. There wasn't a teacher for years.
Just wondered if any of you were from that area and knew we were up and running?

MrsKitty · 05/05/2009 12:07

Morning everyone, and thanks for the welcomes!

Very glad to hear your good news ICBINB - it must have been such a worry.

Not much to report here - feeling quite rubbish though - having strange uncomfortable pains around bump - mostly around the top and sides...I'm not worrying about them as I'm assuming they're ligaments stretching as this little one gets bigger & bigger...Or am I being a bit too relaxed about things this time around and should be worrying? I'm worrying about worrying (or not!) Who says pregnancy makes you irrational?

DevilsAdvocaat · 05/05/2009 13:40

great news icbinb! you must be so relieved

i just found out that my nephew has slapped cheek so i need to have a blood test. could my ds have it? am worried now after him being sick all weekend. does it cause sickness? he has birthmarks on his cheeks so am unlikely to notice whether they were red or not iykwim.

misskitty please can i join you in the irrational worrying group?

DevilsAdvocaat · 05/05/2009 13:41

by the way has anyone seen flame?
i haven't seen her on mn recently...

sammysam · 05/05/2009 14:26

Devils-I know I am worried about her-I haven't noticed her around for quite a while...
Re slapped cheek-sickness isn't supposed to be a 'normal' symptom but dd was very ill with it-D&V on and off for a week. After the rash on the cheeks it travels down the body-to arms and trunk in a patchy rash that shows when they get hot (during a bath with dd)
How many weeks are you now? The good thing is are the chances of nothing being wrong greatly increase once the placenta is working (I think that happens between 9-12 wks?) so hopefully you were past that point

Poor dd-I've spent quite a lot of time online today-partly cos I feel rough but also i'm trying to sort hen stuff and holiday stuff out......need to stop!!!

DevilsAdvocaat · 05/05/2009 14:47

thanks sammysam. that's a relief to know. he hasn't had any other rash on his body. have a docs appt at 5 this evening to see what he thinks.

housework awaits.

HumphreysCorner · 05/05/2009 15:07

Afternoon ladeez

ICBINB-I love to hear good news about scans. Brilliant!

DevilsAdvocaat-more of this slapped cheek, how worrying for you. Hope DS is OK and doesn't have it. Wonder if there will ever be a vaccination against it.

sammysam and MrsKitty-fingers crossed you both feel better soon.

Am 19 weeks today and Fertility Friend said I am half way there. Don't know how it works that one out. Feeling so well apart from the occasional headache. It is nice to be able to cook and function again before I get too big. Am eating too much so hoping I will be able to BF to shift some of the excess.

Flame isn't on hols is she? Can't think where she is.

Love to all!

Sugarkane · 05/05/2009 22:17

ICBINB great news on the scan.

DevilsAdvocaat fingers crossed everything is ok for you.

misskitty and sammysam hope you both feel better soon.

Well I went to the midwife today and heard babies heartbeat everything seemed fine with bump, unfortunately I have to go for an ecg on friday as I have been having some palpitations. I also have a suspected infection which they are waiting results on, my blood pressure is high which they said they are going to keep an eye on for now and finally I cant take anything for my thrush boobs due to pregnancy they said just put some normal thrush cream on, dr said might not help as pain is in my breasts but I will try anything, I even contemplated digging the flesh out with a spoon last night but settled for some paracetamol.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 05/05/2009 22:24

Hello. Haven't been on here for a while (I think the start of this thread was my last input ).

I am 17 weeks pg and ripe old age of 35. Had scan a few weeks back and everything is fine. Baby spinning like mad. Due date is 15th Oct. Last midwife check showed I have an anterior placenta as heartbeat muffled when she tried to hear it. Not sure if it means anything???

I haven't been feeling baby move much. Nothing definite.

This will be my 2nd DC. DS was an emergency C Section. Got a nice midwife this time.

I will try to keep an eye on the thread a bit more. I'm at work during the day so it can be hard for me to keep up with the conversation so bear with me .

Mrs Kitty - I have also had bump aches. I think it is the growing pains! Sometimes it is when I've been doing too much and need to have a rest, or thats what I tell DH.

Sleep well ladies. Hope you're not up for the loo too many times in the night!

MrsKitty · 06/05/2009 06:27

Morning all

Devils Hope all went well at the doctors last night?

Ruby I'm not feeling much movement on a daily basis either - That's my other irrational worry (And I'm pretty certain I am being irrational about that one because I don't remember feeling DS1 regularly until 20+ weeks)

Sugarkane - Thrushy boobs sounds awful hope the cream helps (would hate for you to have to resort to a teaspoon! )

Fidelma - hope you're feeling better soon... We (I) have been thinking about names - If we have a girl she'll more than likely be Eliza as that was our girl choice when we had DS...Struggling for boy names though!

MrsKitty · 06/05/2009 06:33

Halfmumhalfbiscuit Being at work is the only way I can keep up with this thread - wouldn't get a chance at home!

hackneybird · 06/05/2009 09:29

Hi biscuit, nice to see you again. We're due on the same day! Am also 35 although this one is my first.

When is your 20 week scan? Mine is on 28th May. Seems like such a long way away.

xx

LittleMissBliss · 06/05/2009 09:38

Just clocking in.

Not much to report, ds is running around with three tampons.......what a strange child. Better go and supervise him, have a great day all.

RRRRRAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!! Sorry just need to vent! I'm trying to sort out blooming customised t-shirts for my sis's hen do-why oh why is it so difficult to find what we need

Hope everyone is ok! x x x

princessmel · 06/05/2009 10:17

Just popping in to say hi.

I feel miserable today. I am fed up of being in pain (my coccyx) and it's getting me down. Got a headache I can't shake and have had a stuffy nose for as long as I can remember. I went back to the docs last night and got a prescription for cocodamol. I ordered a coccyx cushion too. I hope it helps.

On the plus side, dh did the school run today so I could stay in bed and he's popped to get me a Mc Donalds brekkie before he goes to work , to cheer me up!!
Oh and I managed to find the hearbeat with the doppler today! first time in about 4 weeks!!

I have my 16 week appt with the midwife on thursday.

Hope you all have a good day xx

princessmel · 06/05/2009 10:20

Sammysam, I know all about hen night stress...I had to sort 2 hen weekends and a hen night last year! Was sooo stressful! Fab fun though

HappyTangerine · 06/05/2009 14:11

Hi all
Welcome to the newbies

ICBINB - thats great news about the scan

Fidelma - yay for your morning sickness being over! Hoping the 2 weeks go quickly for you.

SugerKane - ooh you poor thing, that sounds so painful. Wishing you well for the ecg on Friday, hope all goes well.

DevilsAdvocaat and MrsKitty - can I join you in the irrational worrying club? Already getting nervous about scan - didn't have the most communicative sonographer(God she was a misery) or midwife last time so not looking forward to it as much as I should. We're thinking of getting a private scan later on.

PrincessMel hope you feel better soon

Idiot me fell over last night- felt dizzy and missed my judgement when I went to sit down. Didnt have far to the floor and cushions broke my fall but ooh, my back. I am so sore today.

Doppler users - what brands would you recommend? I'm thinking of getting one. is there a limit to how many times a week you should use it?

Love to all, sorry to anyone I've missed-this thread goes so fast!

fidelma · 06/05/2009 17:01

Natural yogurt is good for thrush.Rub it on and you can also eat it.Not too much sugar though.

Feeling better today. My mum has been round and we have started to plant out the vegies for our plot.Hoping to get a poly tunnel also.

I have decided to take Ds out of nursery. It has been good enough but I don't want him inside and not doing that much.He has had a ball today planting potatoes playing in the mud, feeding the chickens and pouring water everywhere. Then naked dancing with my cashmere dressing gown wrapped around him.He starts pre school in August so I am going to enjoy him this summer.

Off to pick the girls up from piano and who knows more naked dancing ma follow. (not for me as breasts would knock me out)

BellaCullen · 06/05/2009 17:51

Sammysam hope you find the right t-shirts soon.

princessmel hope you feel better soon.I had a cold 2 weeks ago you can have Lockets which are for sore throat and blocked nose.I did also use nasal sprays at night because I was so fed up not being able to take anything.

Had lovely weather today so went to the park although kids just wanted to go home, lazy things. Can anyone recommend a sling?Quite like the look of Didymos Wraps,as the baby can be craddled and lie down in it.I do want one where they can be craddled in when newborns.Just not sure how easy wraps are to tie.
Going onto a Nappucino soon to look at cloth nappies. Thanks to Flame for mentioning this never heard about it before.Luckily got one close by and they sell trail pack for £25 with laundry bin.

bella I used a wrap with DS1 and I was terrified of it at first, but once you've got the hang of it after a few goes they're fab - so versatile and very comfy.

Didn't discover wraps till DS was around 9-10mths so got a Calin Bleu as i'd read that a woven wrap would be more practical for his weight, but I have plans to buy (and sneak past DH ) a stretchy wrap to use from early on with the new baby. Can't give any opinion on Didymos - have you looked at www.thebabywearer.com or www.slingmeet.co.uk Think that's where I did my sling research!

DevilsAdvocaat · 06/05/2009 18:23

hi all,
thanks for all you best wishes.
doc was fine last night, had blood test this morning to check if i am immune. may take up to a week.

doc very matter of fact, said 50-50 chance that i'm immune. if not and i do have it then 10% chance of mc or stillbirth.

keeping my fingers crossed but trying not to think of it at all tbh.

spent the day in my garden tending my veg patch. fidelma what you going to grow? this is my first year of growing veggies and what i lack in knowledge i make up for in enthusiasm by this i mean lovingly checking my seedlings everyday to see if they've grown. my nuturing thing is kicking in all right!

getting some big kicks and lots of movement through the day which is nice. i wouldn't worry to those of you who haven't yet, i think sometimes it depends on where your uterus sits iykwim and how the baby lies.

hen nights are stressful any chance of delegating some jobs? (not to me )
