fidelma · 06/05/2009 21:31

DevilsAdvacaatI am pretty new at the vegies also but Mum knows what she is doing. We put in potatoes and cabbages and raddishes today.Although I have a cheats garden comming from Rocketgardens.com

Lots of little plug plants will arrive by post.I did it last year.Good value for beginners or for people who don't have greenhouses. You choose the garden that you want eg large, small, patio, window etc worth a look if you need plants. And advice.I did the small last year but am going for large this year.

The bloom has set in,time to enjoy the summer,if it comes!!!

HumphreysCorner · 06/05/2009 21:35

Evening all

Busy again I see.

Watching The Apprentice but just want to confess I had a sneaky glass of weak shandy. Haven't had any of my beloved wine so weak lager is the next best thing.

Will catch up tomorrow.

Morning!

Devils-tis nasty to know isn't it. Hopefully you are immune and then you won'y have to worry I'm looking forward to my scan on mon and consultant apt. as I intend to ask far more questions and actually ask for stats as well. TBH though i've been convincing myself that something would have happened by now if it was going to
I just wish there was an easy test they could do to find out if baby had it......

Hopefully I can get this t-shirt thing sorted today-before I go crazy!!!!

19+4!

Morning.

I can't remember who said that they had a constant runny nose/cold symptoms. Well that's me too. Think it must be a pregnancy thing as I've never had a cold go on for over a month.

Love the idea of everyone growing their own veggies! we grew tomatoes and runner beans last year in pots. Would love the space for our own little Veg patch! Hopefully in the new house.

We have accepted an offer now. Still losing a fair bit, but that can only be expected i guess. The race is on to find a new house.

hope sun comes out today.

Morning all, hope everyone is ok, hugs to all who are worrying. I keep reading the thread but nothing out of the ordinary is happening here, just bog-standard pg stuff.

My friend had her baby yesterday at 31wks due to pre-eclampsia, baby (2lb14oz) is breathing unaided but critical for the next few days. It makes me think I'm very lucky.

We're upping our veg quota this year too, got potatoes, leeks, carrots, parsnips, cauliflower, red currants, raspberries and rhubarb.

HappyTangerine · 07/05/2009 09:34

I just started typing out a reply to you guys, only to realise I was replying to posts from 30th April!

Sammysam-how goes it with the t shirts?

PrincessMel-hope the back pain eases up soon

DevilsAdvocaat Keeping everything crossed for you that you are immune and okay

LittleMissBliss - congrats on the house offer and good luck with the house hunt. We're looking at the moment but realy want a bungalow-in a town full of elderly people there is a lot of competition for them!

Am also growing veg-we did courgettes, potatoes, lettuce and tomatoes last year, am trying to be a bit more adventurous this year. Will have alook at rocketgarden, ta for the rec.

Gorgeous day here, am off to see Star Trek in a mo (excited nerdy Trekkie icon ) then will keep researching my doppler question.

princessmel · 07/05/2009 09:34

I have the constant cold LMB! It's so annoying. Have blown my nose (tmi) so many times already this morning.

My coccyx cushion arrived today! It is NOT glamorous atall!! I'm sitting on it now...I hope it helps.

Good news about the house
Must be a relief.

No sign of the sun here.....

16 weeks today

princessmel · 07/05/2009 09:37

Happy Tangerine the doppler I'm using is borrowed from a friend. Not sure of the make.

The one I've heard mentioned on MN is Angelsounds. They sell them on Ebay.

theboob · 07/05/2009 09:43

morning
i have heartburn all the time, same as with DD, will catch up more later mock exam this afternoon x
cant remember who asked but we have all our names picked out, will revel all after the scan........only 6 more days

have a great day x

Flamesparrow · 07/05/2009 09:56

Thanks for those asking after me - been in hiding. Sick of bringing everyone down with my whinging so have sort of retreated to my own little thread of depression . Had to go back on the sickness pills, it all got far too bad again without them. The dr won't prescribe ADs anyway though so it isn't really an issue.

Everyone else at that lovely stage of a constant niggly need to wee, but not much actually happening?

HumphreysCorner · 07/05/2009 10:40

Oh Flame, sorry to hear things are not too good but please keep posting however you feel. We are here to support each other. Hope things pick up soon.

HappyTangerine-I have one of these dopplers. Got it from Ebay and it is excellent. Have a great day you Trekkie.

LittleMissBliss-hope you find a house soon so that you can get settled in before the baby is born.

theboob-good luck with your mock exam. So far I am not suffering from heartburn. Had a bit in the 2WW which gave me a clue that I might be PG but had it terrible with DD2. Struggled to eat with it. We still can't agree on Matthew boys names.

princessmel-hope the cushion gives you some relief. Perhaps you haven't got a cold as I am permanently congested, worse at night but apparently this is normal.

smallone-crikey, 31 weeks is very early isn't it? Such a tiny thing too, how worrying for her. Hope all is OK with the baby.

sammysam-good luck with the T-shirts. It is doing my head in just gathering bits together for DD1's party bags.

DevilsAdvocaat-will you have a definite answer when you get your blood tests? Very worrying for you. Nice to feel the kicks though.

Well, DD1 has had a strop when I suggested moving into DD2's room and letting the baby have her room. She said she likes her HumphreysCorner wallpaper. Then when I said she might move into the lilac computer room she quite liked that idea. So obviously the reluctance isn't down to the HC wallpaper.

Good on you all growing your own veg. I grow tomatoes, cucumber and runner beans. Have a space now for veg being as though DH cleared the compost heap but has threatened me if I plant anything there. He made me dig up my blackcurrants and gooseberries to make way for the grass heap but now we have a green bin we put the cuttings in there. Men!

Better go before my post gets too long. Have a man coming to give me a price for replacing my double glazing-some of the seals have gone.

Love to all!

Hi all,

we are growing veggies too but I am a huge cheat. My dad has a big greenhouse and loves growing veg so starts everything off for me then passes it on when it can go on the patio. So far I have onions, garlic, peppers, potatoes, broccoli, courgettes, tomatoes, strawberries and pumpkin. He also got me some fruit trees for my birthday - plum, apple and pear - so my patio looks great.

I have my scan on Monday when I'll be exactly 20 weeks and I'm very excited. Hopefully we will find out the sex - we (and my parents) have been calling the bean 'he' for some reason so I might be quite shocked if it's a girl. Not disappointed though. We have started thinking about names but so far haven't come up with much we can agree on. I'm finding it really difficult, especially with boys names. Are people going to reveal their top options on here?

I still haven't felt anything yet that I am sure is baby movement - a few flutters but could just be hunger or wind. I'm not worried but I am looking forward to something more definite in the next few weeks.

brightonbleach · 07/05/2009 11:48

oh man, its good to hear that other people have the constant runny nose thing! I thought I was going mad for a bit there... blowing nose constantly, its been 6 weeks now, can't remember what normal breathing is like ah well, could be worse of course!

had bloods taken again yesterday, phlebotomist really nice but a bit brutal getting the needle in - they had to take a load from each arm, so have huge lumpy bruises both sides this morning, look like I've been punched in the arms...

littlemissbliss good luck with the househunt - we're going to rent our 1-bed out (as market is a bit poor - plus we can get excellent rent that will cover our rent in a bigger place locally that we wouldn't ordinarily be able to afford, so that will be good.) we both LOVE our flat though and it will be a real wrench to leave it...

hope everyone's feeling well!

littlepea72 · 07/05/2009 12:01

Oh HappyT....let me know what you think of the Star Trek film!!! I cant go watch it here as its in German! Might have to fly home to see it lol...

Flame im so glad you posted a message, we are hear to listen x

Im starting to get really hungry now, having 2 breakfasts! Oh the shame!!

LittleMissBliss · 07/05/2009 14:33

Wow, what a busy morning, We've just come back from toddler group. Where ds has been a little naughty so and so, snatching and pushing people away if he wants a toy. I really hope this is a phase as it seems to be going from bad to worse. He was such a lovely placid child untill a few weeks ago.

Brightonbleach I will be sad to leave here too, we have been here from a few weeks before ds was born and put allot of hard work into making it really nice. I'm really getting quite attached now, especially since the sold sign went up. Its silly because i'm sure i'll love the new house just as much. And would really love a bigger garden for the kids. We went to Ikea on BHmonday and got loads of ideas so starting over is something to look forward to!

Idreamofbeanie good luck with the scan on Monday. I remember last time, i got real butterflies when i asked about the sex, silly really as you have a 50/50 chance but its just so exciting!

Flame keep us posted, we are all here to help. Yes i am weeing allot More than i seem to be drinking.

boob Hope your mocks go well!

HappyT We are also thinking of buying a bungalow. Dp loves them, where as I'm not convinced, they make me think of old people! But MIL has one and she's in here 40's and said she thought the same before moving and loves hers.
Also when ds goes over he loves it as there is so much more ground floor space for him to roam in. Plus bungalows in our area often come with large gardens. There are quite a few on the market so not as much competition as you seem to be facing.

Right better go and tackle some house work. Bought some doktor power cleaner stuff and it's rubbish. It leaves a residue behind.... or maybe that was lime scale anyway wouldn't recommend it.

Hello all - IT'S A GIRL!!! Found out on Tuesday. DD is absolutely overjoyed, which is lovely!

Good luck to everyone else with scans coming up.

rubyslippers · 07/05/2009 17:38

aw - lovely lix

my scan is next week but we aren't finding out - although am wavering slightly

have serious girl envy and

flame - hope your tooth thing was ok

will go back through thread to catch up - all is saw was "ITS A GIRL" [

HumphreysCorner · 07/05/2009 18:06

Oh wow lix-that is wonderful news. I love my 2 girls as they play so well together.

LittleMissBliss-when DH and I were looking for our first house he was keen on a bungalow as his sister lives in one but having lived in one from the age of 12 until 30 when I moved in with DH there was no way I was living in a bungalow. I just didn't like the fact you couldn't escape to your bedroom and mum was fed up with my messy bedroom being on display. You have to remember to keep the doors shut when guests come round. Turns out SIL feels the same way but still lives in her bungalow with just her DH. Hope you find something nice.

Must go and check on the spaghetti.

Just popped in quickly and it is nice to see you flame. I'm sorry you're feeling so awful - at least you are nearly halfway there. When I feel rough that is what I tell myself.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 07/05/2009 21:18

Hackneybird not sure when my next scan is. I have a consultants appointment early June then MW appointment after that. I guess something will come through on the scan soon.

Would love to grow veg but don't have enough time. Bought some seed potatoes and shoved them in a while back but lacking the motivation to lovingly cultivate anything else. The instant cheats garden idea sounds great!

Last time I grew corgette, squash, kale, onions, garlic, rocket, runner beans. We have raspberry and blueberry plants that look after themselves.

Flame - hope you are ok. See you on the slatterns thread. Predicting another 4am trip to the loo tonight.... so annoying.

fidelma · 07/05/2009 21:19

flameGlad to hear from you.How many weeks are you now?Your MS should e over by 20 weeks.Did you see in the press todat that mothers who suffer from MS (the worse the better)the children have higher IQs!!!!Mine must be Einstines!!!!!

BooB good luck with the exams.

What alot of veg growers. We will be getting our freezers full of baby food well in advance.

I am getting very excited about this baby.It may as well be my first.I have also had the congestion thing.Although it seems to have gone with my MS!!

NAMES ahhh not easy.At the moment our front runners are Connor,Ben,Iona and Holly. It is not easy to agree.I love the name Harris but best friend's son is Harris. She wouldn't mind but it doesn't feel right.I also love Poppy Daisy and Rose. However our children take after their Dad.He is built like a rugby player, so the names may not be funny when they are older.Although this one may be more like me.

sleep tight.

DevilsAdvocaat · 08/05/2009 06:33

lix congrats! get shopping now

flame glad you've checked in, we were going to send out a search party.

hc we had an old friend for dinner lst night and i had a (very) small glass of red was. was amazing

yay for all the veggie growing. i'm seriously considering making a veg plot in my front garden next year too. just seems like wasted space to me!

sammysam · 08/05/2009 08:20

Morning!

Boob-good luck!

Flame-please don't stay away We are all here to moan if that is how we are feeling-everyone will support you My ms has got a bit worse again-I could even taste the water i'd put in the curry last night to thin the suace-so couldn't eat it and went to be sick How the hell I can taste water through all those spices etc I really don't know? I'm more worried about going away now as seriously anything other than soda water makes me sick.....why is water so bad??????? I'm so sorry that you are still so bad-I really hope it doesn't last as long as it has for you before (30wks?)-you have done so well getting through this much-I think we should award you a prize x x x x

Lix-congrats on it being a girl!!!! Girls are great I'm convinced we're having another dd. 90% sure we're going to ask to find out on monday at the scan!!

LMB-congrats on the offer-I hope you find something soon! We'd love to move but there's no chance at the moment-so we're looking into a conservatory to give us a little more space!

T'shirts almost all sorted-found a great local company run by a really nice, helpful young bloke and he is sorting them out for me-half the price of most of the quotes I was given-feel very Wish I'd just gone there first!!!

DP is very excited as we're bringing my old mini down from my mums tomorrow for him to start doing up-he can't control his excitement-bless him!!! I'm going to stay there the night and then I'll get to have a lie in!!!!! YAAAYYYY!

sammysam · 08/05/2009 08:33

Ps Fidelma-where did you read about the ms and higher IQ? Would like a read !!

Re veggies-I cheat and my mum grows loads as she has a massive veggie patch and greenhouse so we get fresh stuff from her and also she starts a few things off for us-whatever we can fit in our garden-this year we'll definately have runner beans and toms again and then whatever else mum has done for us
