blue - at least you know why you were feeling so dizzy. Low bp is better than high but be careful with baths etc. - make sure your dh/dp is aware you are in the bath in case you faint.

Minshu · 28/04/2009 21:27

Evening!!

Congratulations on the blue bump, Detoxdiva!!

Scan was great. Everything is fine with the baby and the sonographer was happy that the placenta was far enough away from the cervix not to cause any bother. And its position is probably why I'm not feeling any movement. The sonographer told me I could buy a couple of pink things, but not to paint the room that colour, just in case... So a pink bump - how wrong could I have been??

Got some lovely pics, including one of her foot!! DP and I were supposed to be looking for a bathroom cabinet this afternoon, but I managed to buy some pretty pink baby shoes and some maternity clothes instead .

SabsBigPants · 28/04/2009 21:36

hello ladies, hope everyone had a good day....

blue good advice from ladylush...i also tell DH to listen out for me when im in the shower, not because my BP is low though, but just cos i can be quite clumsy at times and tend to fall over, have very poor balance!

nitnat congrats on your scan! we're also thinking we're not going to find out...

JRocks you have your scan on the same day as me! what time is yours? mines at 8.30am

detoxdiva congrats on having a boy!

tigerfeet i also have bump envy, mine is soft and wobbly like jelly

aprilmeadow have fun in orlando,i went over 10 years ago and loved it! is anyone else planning a holiday (or is it called babymoon?) before baby arrives...im hoping to go either rome or athens with DH, if not my mum has said we can go with her and my siblings to sharm al sheikh in july...

LJ congrats on your scan and what a relief it must be to have an explanation for the bleeding..

talking about constipation i also suffer, but also find that like daffodilli, that lactulose helps... i didnt know that during pregnancy that IBS meant to be non-existent, as i also suffer from that

minsh how did the scan go today?

hello to everyone else..

well today I got to hear bubba's heartbeat...i couldve waited until my 20 week appointment in 2 weeks time with my midwife but when my midwife said i could come in when i was 17 or 18 weeks to hear the heartbeat i jumped at the chance! My sister came with me and recorded it on my phone so DH could hear it.

dillydallydaisy · 28/04/2009 21:47

Check out daisybump.blogspot.com/ for a daft cartoon pregnancy diary. Might make you giggle!

Minshu · 28/04/2009 21:49

We seem to have cross-posted, Sabs. Hearing the hb at my 16 week midwife appointment left me on a high for days.

I second that, Mrswee - nice to know that other people are getting the lovely trapped wind problems Thanks for the advice on windeze, Lizlemon - I'll get some.

LOL at your mum stayfrosty!!! I too have been enjoying coffee - so much so I've had to go and buy decaf!

Great news on the scans ladies. Mine is 2 weeks tomorrow and I've been told I can't make an appt with mw until 25 weeks!

Just remembered a conversation about bump pics...dp and I have 'photo friday' - I stand in the same spot in the kitchen around the same time each Friday and he takes a pic...will get round to posting them soon. My bump is quite big and I have this freaky 2-inch layer of fat over the top!

Dp came home at midnight last night pissed as a fart. I was furious. Tis hard to say whether it was hormones that made me so very angry, but I was more upset at the fact he knew I hadn't been feeling well...bloody men Suffice to say he's got up an hr and a half late this morning and I am not speaking to him!!

ladylush · 29/04/2009 07:36

Oh dear blue - it's the smell of alcohol on their breath as well isn't it. Yuk! I sound like a born again teetotaller - when in fact I do usually enjoy a glass of wine or two Not missing it though.

Minshu - congrats on the pink one Fab news

Stayfrosty - congrats on the blue one It will be nice to say "my boys" don't you think Agree that your mum is a genius

Right then, I suppose I'd better get ready for work. I didn't sleep well again last night. Partly cos I've been dreading a difficult discussion I need to have with my boss this morning. I found out yesterday that I had been allocated a first year student nurse on a 3 month placement. Everyone knew apart from me and I've been back from leave for a week So I'm pretty annoyed that I wasn't asked. Also, I only have 3 months left at work and I have lots of intense work to do in that time (getting documentation completed, ensuring all pts. seen by doctor before I transfer them etc. etc.) I just had a first year student as well and she needed a LOT of direction So I'm not a happy bunny.

blue76 · 29/04/2009 08:02

ladylush good luck today. That does seem a bit unfair to you. But on the upside, your boss must think a lot of you. Maybe you could give the crappy jobs to the student??

Gp joked that I might be having a boy due to the greatly differing pg!! Only prob is we're struggling with boys names...

ladylush · 29/04/2009 08:17

Thanks blue, think I'll need it He is a new boss so doesn't know me well, and frankly if he did think well of me you'd think he would actually consult me first! Looking forward to getting it over with. I'm normally ok with these kind of situations but maybe my hormones are making me stress over it more than I usually would. As for giving him the crap jobs, I don't really work in that kind of setting as I am a community nurse. In the old days ward nurses would send students to the sluice - now that is wicked Yesterday he managed to lose a drug chart that I had only just written (because the original one had gone missing)and didn't have the common sense to look in the folder that he'd put it in. So he will need supervision with the simplest of tasks and frankly is no good to me, and equally I will not be good for him because I will be spending too much time with my caseload and not enough on his development. Sigh.........rant over

ladylush · 29/04/2009 08:18

Lol at your GP by the way It's funny how everyone wants to guess the sex isn't it

Neddie · 29/04/2009 09:02

Hi all
Wind- don't talk to me about wind. I have had a horrid tummy bug that has been going around and had stomach ache for 2 days and really sick. At one point I nearly thought I would have the babies there and then. I'm better now and off to have my scan to see what they are-so exciting. Dp home tomorrow for 3 days-yipee! I must check out our stats to see who's having what- I am sooo forgetful at the moment.Fingers crossed for one of each.

LizLemon · 29/04/2009 09:34

It's so exciting finding out what everyone's having - fingers crossed for one of each Neddie! (Can't believe I have to wait another three weeks - I feel so impatient.)

ladylush I'd be pretty pissed off if I were you, more for just not being consulted and having a chance to put your side of the case. Plus your student sounds like a bit of a headache - not looking in the folder? FFS.

Next time I make scones I'll make enough for the whole class

love your mother's tactics stayfrosty

I'm excited today. I was supposed to meet my oldest and best friend at lunchtime but he texted me to cancel at 4.56 am - his wife's in labour! I feel so emotional already, I know I'm going to cry buckets when I meet him.

JRocks · 29/04/2009 09:44

Sabs mine is at 10am, plenty of time to get myself all strung out about it on the day!

Am loving the genius of stayfrosty's mum. What a cunning plan

This week, far from being blooming, I am sufferiong from another outbreak of spots on face, and nosebleeds. Although have been assured by friends that I'm 'looking really well'. Hmmm.. do they mean size of house?!

mumtobe23 · 29/04/2009 09:50

Good morning ladies!
Sorry not been around much I have been reading but not inputting for a while as have been so busy at work. Very excited/ nervous / anxious about my scan this afternoon & cannot concentrate at work, thank god my boss it out!

Am hoping to find out what it is but I'm so, so convinced its a boy if its a girl i think I'll pass out with shock! If im totaly honest I would love a girl, but i havent uttered a word to anyone if RL, as I feel bad for having a prefrence!

Hoping to go and buy the pram & bits & bobs after if all is ok. Has anyone else bouht a pram yet?

Congrats to all the good news on scans to everyone!

BabyLady · 29/04/2009 09:58

Morning all - back in the country after my impromptus trip to NZ. My Grandfather passed away just as I was getting on the plane so I was at least home for the funeral! Bit sad but actually got some closure out of it and nice to have been there to support my Mum.

Flight was mega long and bubs didn't help by kicking its way through a lot of it.

Heaps of posts to catch up on. But great to hear everyone's scan news! Very exciting that we are all getting to that stage now. I think I was pretty much the fist so nice to have you all getting through just fine as well. 23 weeks today and I now feel enormous. There has been a massive change in the last 5 weeks and I am now up to +5.5kgs. A bit worrying when still 17 weeks to go??

Re the sleeping on your back thing, the specialist Obstetrician I am seeing said not to worry about it at all. The uterus is only big enough from 24 weeks to press on any arteries and he said that even if you did, your blood pressure may fall and most likely outcome is that you would roll over in your sleep. He said not to worry about it, but did note that I would likley be more comfortable on my side anyway.

Snowfalls108 · 29/04/2009 10:51

BabyLady - so sorry to hear about your grandfather. My grandfather died at Christmas and I know how horrible it can be. Lovely that you could be there for the funeral though.

Thusnelda · 29/04/2009 11:51

I've updated the stats thread, but I might easily forgotten someone!

Sorry to hear about your grandfather, BabyLady. It's good to have been there though, glad the trip was ok.

Gonnabamumma · 29/04/2009 14:12

Hi Ladies sorry I haven't been round much, evil boss has been keeping my nose to the grindstone. Sorry to hear about your grandfather BabyLady - hope you are doing ok.

Am so envious of everyone having their scans already. I am 20 weeks today and my scan is in 2 weeks time - no fair! Apparently in QC they don't do them until later. Nothing of note to report, just very sleeeeepy.

FairySparkles · 29/04/2009 16:12

Hi Girls - just popping in very quickly to let any of you in South Wales know (as I know there are a couple of us) that there is a new Mamas & Papas store opening in Cardiff tomorrow and if you go online you can download a 10% and 20% discount voucher valid for tomorrow
here

they're open till 8pm too so I'm gonna try and pop down there after work with my credit card!!

Hope everyone's ok - haven't had chance to catch up and read all the posts yet!! Counting down to my scan.... 1 week friday - Yay!!

daffodilli · 29/04/2009 19:50

LJ so glad scan was all ok x x

Audrey all up to date here to! am loving this series, haven't got a clue whats going to happen - but cannot believe Tony and his evilness!! (he does it very well though )

Detoxdiva for blue bump!

Minshu for pink bump!!

Bit slack of MW not to tell you you were meant to be taking iron supplements Blue! Would be a bit if it was me!

LOL at your mums naming tactics StayFrosty

Really sorry about your grandad BabyLady x x

Will have to drag DH to Cardiff methinks FairySparkles.....also an Ikea there!

Had a lovely walk in the park at lunchtime today,am really lucky that we have a park and botanical gardens alongside the Uni,its fab to get some air and escape the germy patients (!)...can not seem to get very far though as my legs seem to have forgotten how to work properly! LOL.
Off for some mint choc chip icecream now after a nice healthy tea of pizza and chips.. !

ladylush · 29/04/2009 19:59

Ooh Fairy - I'm jealous. There's a M&P opening near me but they're not offering a discount voucher!

Babylady - so sorry to hear about your grandad but it's so good that you were there to attend the funeral and support your mum.

I spoke to my boss today. Just as well I didn't go in guns blazing. He apologised for not telling me, said he'd meant to but forgot. He also said that he had just intended me to support one of the other nurses with the documentation - rather than directly working with the student. Absolutely fine with that It seems that the nurse who was asked to be the mentor has been a bit manipulative and told everyone inc. the student that she was only working with him until I got back from annual leave

LJ29 · 29/04/2009 20:07

More bleeding today so trotted off to the mw. Shewas really reassuring and said thatas long as its pink its fine and could even be caused by straining on the loo! Explained that I was concerned abou anxiety levels and she was more than happy to give me an extra appointment in 4 weeks for reassurance.

Minshu · 29/04/2009 21:26

LJ - sorry to hear about the bleeding, but your mw sounds good. There are quite a few good ones out there.

Ladylush glad to hear that's sorted. Apart from the manipulative colleague - or could your boss be climbing down and has "forgotten" to tell your colleague about these arrangements. I'm horribly suspicious, aren't I? My current boss agrees with everything I say (sounds good, but..), even when I know he's agreed something different with someone else. Would rather have the challenge I had with my previous boss, sometimes... At least I had some idea of where I stood. I could rant all night, but still in far too good a mood after my scan

Sorry to hear your news, babylady.

Not sure if I'm getting kicked right now, or if that's just the pizza getting digested

daffodilli · 29/04/2009 22:20

LJ xx

Am very lucky with my bosses and my collegues really,me and my collegues all started at the same time so we were all at the same place in learning the job etc which made it much easier, and we all get on very well. They've been great covering for me while I've been off sick as well, and I had a lovely 'back to work' interview, cannot complain at all! Have worked for for not so great people in the past and its not fun.Sorry to minshu and ladylush, work stress is not needed.

Am glad I'm not the only one with a healthy pizza minshu !

Now..had my fix of The Apprentice and am knackered from all the arguing! Night all!
