GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 17/03/2009 13:54

Hi Glask, just looked at your pics and Ruby is gorgeous Cant wait to see more pics up there soon!

Gingerbread man anyone? I finally got around to making them yesterday... not bad but they dont have faces

kayzr · 17/03/2009 14:03

Astarte, you are gorgeous!!! Make up my a*se!!! I love your hair colour. It is beautiful!!

I just fell asleep in the bath. I am now really wrinkly!!

kayzr · 17/03/2009 14:28

Just found out a friend has been diagnosed with PND. Her DD is about 3 weeks younger than DS2. She seemed so happy last week when I saw her. She rang to let me know so I've told her she can come round whenever she wants. She's asked if I want to go shopping to Middlesborough one day next week so I said yes. I really feel for her as her mum has told her that women don't get PND and it doesn't exist. Apparently women that get it are just tired and are looking for an excuse to get out of looking after their babies. Never thought her mum would be like that at all as she seems to be lovely.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 17/03/2009 14:34

Sorry to hear of your friend Kayz... sounds like you are being a great mate though. Am about what her mother said to her.... thats the kind of attitude that makes it so much harder to get over.

Good she has you to help

Cosmogirl · 17/03/2009 14:50

< grabs faceless gingerbread man and sits in sulking corner>

Astarte · 17/03/2009 14:56

erm...yes

Kayz that's lovely of you to offer help to your friend. You'll be up not far from me when you go shopping
Sad that her mum isn't acknowledging her difficult time, just when you would need your mum I'd expect.

kayzr · 17/03/2009 14:58

I have never been there but she goes quite a bit so we shouldn't get lost. I would get lost if I went alone.

tinkhas2scrummygirls · 17/03/2009 15:22

kayzr · 17/03/2009 16:26

Just been in the garden and next doors little boy(about 5) just chucked a piece of wood with rusty nails in it over the fence. DS1 picked it up before we could get it. Luckily he picked it up in between the nails. I actually feel really sick. It could have been very bad.

Astarte · 17/03/2009 16:38

What did his parents say Kayz?
Were they not watching him?

OP posts:
kayzr · 17/03/2009 16:41

Kind of, his Dad came out when he heard us yelling at Freddie to leave it alone. So he yelled at him. But no he wasn't being watched.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 17/03/2009 17:03

Crikey Kayz- sounds awful. Glad DS1 wasnt hurt. Hope those parents clear up their garden and teach the little boy not to throw things!

Out of interest, how far did anyone here travel once past their due date. I mean drive or take trains/buses alone etc?

Happy to go reasonable distance with DH but not sure how far is ok to go alone....

kayzr · 17/03/2009 17:35

Nowhere!! With DS1 I was far too scared and didn't leave the house after 39 weeks. With DS2 he was born on his due date!!

I keep trying to take a picture of myself so I can show off my hair as I love the colour but I have 2 chins

Diege · 17/03/2009 17:51

Hello! KAYZ, thnat sounds scary - could you have a (low-key) word with his parents?
Must check out these facebook piccies!
GYO, never got to due date, so not much help on travel front I'm afraid. Hope you have better luck with the more 'direct method' tonight . Heartburn seems to have calmed down here, fingers crossed!
Off to Cardiff for work tomorrow, back late Thursday, so fully expecting some baby news by then! Speak soon, D x

glaskham · 17/03/2009 18:00

Sorry Gyo- i also am no help as have never got to my due date- though i always thought i'd be doomed with 42 weekers for some reason when i first fell PG with DS!!

Can't believe i've actually got on here so much today!! And i've done a bit of online shopping too.... nothing too exiting, ordered my pet supplies for the cats, and a dress for Ruby... am going to have another browse for premmy clothes this evening though!!

Kay- thats scary about DS1, glad he wasn't hurt though- don't scare yourself with what could have happened.... god only knows I have been doing that for the last few weeks and it's driving me mad!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 17/03/2009 18:06

Hi Glask, sounds like you are really enjoying being a mum to 3 now, its great. Glad you have Ruby home and she is doing so well.

Enjoy Cardiff Diege.... we are actually going out to celebrate the 40wk milestone so might not get around to "administering" the prostagladins

Right, off to dust off my Seraphine maternity dress, hopefully for last time!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 17/03/2009 18:11

Hi all!

Been at a meeting all day toda so not had chance to post

News on nephew is that he's out of ICU but still hooked up to oxygen. He has apparently smiled and said hello to his mum & dad. Anyway, sounding a lot more positive than it was and does look more like a severe asthma attack rather than cardiac problems. Thanks for all your good wishes and positive vibes.

GYo - good question.... I await further answers....

Kay - hope your neighbours realise how serious that could have been and pleased that Freddie didn't hurt himself.

Diege - hope Cardiff trip goes ok.

Glaskham - sounds like Ruby is doing really well. 4 weeks??!!

NJ - great to hear from you

Re weight discussions... I've put on about 20lbs so far and was feeling ok that it hadn't been more. I have struggled with my weight in the past (more my perception that being clinically obese) and was getting really worried. I actually feel like my appetite has lessened whilst I've been pg. Not because of persistent nausea or anything, just because my stomach has less room I think!

Sorry if I've missed anything on my skim read through...

glaskham · 17/03/2009 18:11

Fingers crossed it's the last time GYo!!

Yeah I'm thriving on having 3 amazing children!! Though DS is trying my patience right now... being very disobedient (sp?) and is driving me mad- roll on bed-time!!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 17/03/2009 18:12

Oooh GYo - that sounds a lovely plan. I must remember that. Enjoy your evening out

Starshinetiger · 17/03/2009 18:14

Hi All, just a quick post to let you know that Charlotte Carys Rose was born on Sunday evening at 7.21pm weighing a healthy 7lbs 1oz. Born in pool at hospital (but I only had a chance to be in pool for 8 mins before she popped out - only in hospital for 40 mins before she arrived . Gas & air and water again and she was a speedy girl!

She is absolutely beautiful and an absolute star. Unfortunately, she was born with a bladder extrophy (not all closed over properly) so we've been at Gt Ormond Street since yesterday and I'm currently whiling away the time while she has surgery. She's going to be in intensive care for next 4-5 days, but she did have the chance to bf yesterday afternoon and overnight to get my chances of expressing going. Going to be here for 2-3 weeks and missing DS like crazy, but he is being a star too. GOSH staff are absolutely fabulous, so we know she's in the best care.

For those of you due, don't panic - this is a very rare condition - 1 in 50,000 babies in UK born with it (yes, she is very special but she didn't need to go this far to prove it!).

GYo, Cosmo, Gruff - good luck with upcoming births, wishing you pleasant experiences.
Have to admit, did log on to MN on my mobile from hospital bed on Sunday night while she was in special care and I was in shock and just reading your posts cheered me up. Not sure when I'll be on, but shall try to catch up on any births as and when.

Obviously my 2x faulty home birth pools were for a reason - so we would be in hospital for Charlotte's arrival. I'm a great believer in kismet.

Love to all.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 17/03/2009 18:18

Star!!!!
Huge congrats!!! I was hoping that no news meant baby news

Fingers crossed that the surgery is straight forward and the next 2-3 weeks go smoothly and quickly!

Yay for Star having two star children

kayzr · 17/03/2009 18:21

Star!!! Congratulations on Charlotte!!

I'll keep everything crossed that surgery goes well and that the time goes very quickly.

Sending you loads of love and brownies!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 17/03/2009 18:22

Congratulations Star! I am thrilled for you and a beautiful name too

Sorry to hear you having to be at Great Ormond Street, but it sounds like you are getting good treatment. Hope the surgery goes well.

Congratulations again

GruffaloSoldier · 17/03/2009 18:24

Congratulations star! Hoping that all goes well and a speedy recovery for your DD Beautiful name! Hooray and congrats to your family!
