ooh lovely... getting very dull around here

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 17/03/2009 11:36

BTW, Gruff- obviously depends on your wt pre preg but 1 stone gain is relatively little I think. I was banking on 2 stone at least...but there wasnt a huge amount of me before getting pregnant...

kayzr · 17/03/2009 11:45

Hello again.

We have had a power cut!! We are on a prepayment meter and we thought we had just run out of money on the meter as we are useless at checking it. But no!!

So I took a wander to town with DS1 to get some stuff for his party. Of course he decides he wants to be carried home so I had to ring DH to come meet us with the pushchair as I had loads of bags.

I put on 5 stone with DS1 but only about 2 stone with DS2 but a stone of that went as soon as he was born.

Glask, I'm not having another now. As tempting as it is, I want to lose the weight first.

Astarte · 17/03/2009 11:48

I gain about 2 stone and usually carry an extra 7lbs about a week or so after the birth. This goes over the next 2 weeks through the night sweats I get so that generally by one month I'm back to pre-pg weight give or take a pound or so.
Everyone is different though obviously.

for example...
Baby will be about 7-8lbs
Placenta about 3lbs
liquid about 3lbs
then you'll have some water retention which will go gradually over the early days (couple of lb's, bigger boobs another couple of lb's)

Should come to about 1.5-2 stone. Anything else is cake

I'm a bit freaky about my weight and body size though so perhaps I'm not a good example

NatalieJane · 17/03/2009 12:12

Hello

Looks like things are hotting up quite nicely in here - very exciting!!

God, don't know where to start the catch up? Ses, any news about your nephew? I really hope he's on the mend.

Glask, congrats on getting Ruby home, and it sound's like she is doing so well

Goodness me, can't remember anything else We're having a bit of a rough time of it here, but, I'm not going to turn up once a week and moan to you all, so you're all safe But it's DS1's birthday tomorrow, so we have some nice things planned from tomorrow till Sunday, he is going to be 7 - SEVEN [shocked] How the hell did that happen? Seems like yesterday we brought him home for the first time! And poor little Mikey has been/is quite poorly, it is only a cold but the poor little thing has been so stuffed up he literally can't breathe and then he starts choking, been more than a few panicky moments, thing is he's had it for over 3 weeks now, it seemed to get a bit better for a few days, but then came back worse than ever, took him to the doctors and they gave us a presriction for AB's if he's no better in a few days, but warned us the AB's will give him S&D, oh and told us if he stops breathing again to take him to hospital Nah, we thought we'd just leave him not breathing

Bloody hell, I am starting to moan, think that's my cue to scarper before I really start! Hope you all stay well, and I am keeping an eye out for births and babies xxx

kayzr · 17/03/2009 12:16

Hello Nat, I hope DS1 has a good birthday tomorrow. DS1 is 2 Friday! I hope Mikey gets over his cold soon. Silly doctor!!

NatalieJane · 17/03/2009 12:19

LOL I said more than silly doctor!

They grow up so quickly don't they? And I don't know about you but DS2 has completely lost any babyness he had left since Mikey was born, DS2 just seemed to go from my little baby to 100% toddler over night!

kayzr · 17/03/2009 12:20

Oh yes. DS1 is much more a toddler now then he was before DS2 arrived.

NatalieJane · 17/03/2009 12:27

It's funny though how it's all relative, my friend (yes that will be my one RL friend ) her youngest is 4, and she looks/treats DS2 like a baby still and she says her 4yo seems so much more grown up than he did before she got to know my DS2!

I think we didn't see it so much with DS1 when DS2 was born because DS1 was nearly 5 then so he had left all baby-ness and toddler-ness behind him ages before IYKWIM?

NatalieJane · 17/03/2009 12:30

Sorry was meant to say friend: "...looks at/treats DS2 like a baby...." , maybe I'm not mad, just crap at typing what I mean the first time!

Astarte · 17/03/2009 12:42

hello Nat, hope the LO feels better soon x

Ds2 suddenly seemed very grown-up too and he was 2 the week before Dd2 arrived. He also seems huge in comparison to her lol.

Have up loaded a new pic to the fb group, excuse the lack of make-up though

Off for lunch....

OP posts:
glaskham · 17/03/2009 12:51

Hiya Nat- long time no 'see'... glad things are ok if a bit hectic... hope Mikey gets over his cold soon, its awful when they get all bunged up when they are so small isn't it!!

Oh and i forgot to brag earlier about how good Ruby is.... she is currently going 6hrs solid at nights!!! from when i finish her last evening feed at between 9-9.30ish she'll then sleep till 3-3.30am ish!!! its fab!! Didin't think she'd be sleeping through for that long for ages... and she's now getting to be a good 3-4hrly feeder too!! i think my milk must be doing a good job!!

NatalieJane · 17/03/2009 12:52

Yep, DS2 feels like a tonne weight compared to Mikey, the biggest difference we found was the nappies, especially at first because Mikey was in the tiny ones, everytime it was time for a bum change we'd be holding them up together and oohing and arring over them (fraeks!)

I have made myself very busy today looking at the house we will be buying on Monday with the lottery winnings, how about this for some serious property porn? Can you imagine 3 kids in that white room? In fact never mind the kids, can you imagine DH coming home from work with work boots and filthy work clothes? (Not that he would I suppose if we won the lottery!)

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 17/03/2009 12:53

Astarte- thanks for wt gain information. It really is better to not know (i am like you by the sounds of things!- seeing a number on the scale which is more than i've ever been will be most bizarre!)

Hi Nat, great to see you here. Hope Mikey is feeling better soon. How exciting that your DS1 is going to be 7. Thats a lovely age and I can remember my 7th birthday really clearly even now!

Kayz- glad your power is back up. We had a prepayment meter thing in our old house, we were ALWAYS forgetting to top it up, drove us mad!

Tink- hope the injections go ok ... must be horrible thing to do.

My community MW has just been (not my named MW but another one who is on call for me). She was lovely which is great, so all 3 of my on-call MWs are lovely. I am apparently now 4/5ths engaged and she said any lower and I'd be in labour Everything else is normal. Actually feeling a lot more relaxed about things now... - I really need to believe that Im actually going to give birth in near future..

NatalieJane · 17/03/2009 12:55

Sorry x posts Glask, we've not been on at the same time for so long! Sound's like you're doing a really good job with her You deserve a good night's sleep after the last few weeks, it takes it out of you all of the worry/stress to-ing and fro-ing doesn't it?

NatalieJane · 17/03/2009 12:57

...and x posts again! I don't think you ever get your head round the fact that you will be in labour soon, until you are actually in labour, and even then there is an element of denial that creeps in! Sounds like it's well on the way GYo! And glad you're pleased with your MW's, that makes it all the difference in labour.

Astarte · 17/03/2009 13:05

I wonder if Star is okay?

Where's LB too?

OP posts:
GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 17/03/2009 13:14

hello

Ast- great photo of your and baby. You are looking pretty good to me despite saying you need make up etc

I was wondering about star too... wonder if she has come first over the finish line....

Feeling all achey since the MW has had a poke about feeling the head.. hopefuly thats a good sign. She didnt do a sweep though

Astarte · 17/03/2009 13:17

GYo that's very nice of you, but I don't have any makeup on and would scare frogs atm, but thank you x

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Fully engaged and raring to go eh? Dead excited for you.
Yes, birth story needs to be long and detailed please :D

OP posts:
glaskham · 17/03/2009 13:17

Star hopefully has given birth and is too busy with her bundle of love to be wasting time on us lot!!

Nat- just having her home was good enough, i would much rather do night feeds than waking up to an alarm and a breast pump like i did the first 2 weeks!! but to have her sleeping so well within the first week of her being home is amazing.. the first 2 nights i spent with her when rooming in at the hospital she fed every 1-1.5hrs even in the night!! and i was told not to expect her to go through the night as early as the other 2 did because her stomach is smaller etc, but she's doing so well!!!

I have just been on the FB group and added a couple of pics of Ruby, think they are on my FB and MN already, but had to add them!! need to sort out my bluetooth on the laptop so i can upload some more recent pics i have of her!!

glaskham · 17/03/2009 13:20

Ast- you look fab!!!! (just take the compliment and dont moan!!) i dont even wanna add pics of myself on the MN page!! you Yummy Mummy's put me to shame!!

Astarte · 17/03/2009 13:22

glask she is gorgeous, sooo tiny though!

Good sleeping pattern for such a littlee.
Dd2 sleeps from 10pm until 4pm, then feeds at 6am and 8am to make up for it.

OP posts:
glaskham · 17/03/2009 13:27

Yeah Ruby does that too, she'll feed at 5-5.30ish and 7-7.30ish to make up for it, then 3-4hrly from then onwards depending on how soon she falls asleep while feeding!!
