Hi girls - v quick post - we've got big teething grumbles here and think its going to be a long night!!

I'm up for a midlands meet in the Staffs kind of area if llare and belgian are - and of course any else that is local

Dp just shouted down to ask what to do - men pah!!!!

frazzledoldbag · 11/03/2009 22:59

Just a quick note about grandparents attitudes and presents and things. I'd love it if my dad or inlaws made a fuss of me and bought things for the new baby but it isn't going to happen! Obviously this is my 3rd (and therefore nobody is remotely interested anyway) and it will be my Dad and step-mums 14th grandchild, and my MIL's 9th grandchild. No buying of prams, cots, suitcases full of clothes etc!!!!!! which is fine by me. The downside is that I do feel slightly neglected as I don't think MIL has mentioned this pregnancy or the baby since about 12 wks and my dad/step mum are only marginally more interested (last time we saw them they commented on what a big baby it was going to be - ie, how huge I am, but that was all). I don't expect a huge fuss and am sure when it's born they'll pop round with a card and an outfit for it or something but it does make me a bit sad sometimes that this little baby isn't being 'spoilt' like some of the others....and also the only people who ask how I am generally are strangers in shops!! I don't really mind and am not one for generally going on about it (in RL, on here I'm a right moaning minnie) but I guess I'm just a bit jealous of those of you getting a bit of TLC, mountains of baby outfits and suchlike
Get a grip frazzle. Am just a bit delicate today I think. Might go to bed.
Sorry haven't had time to catch up properly and am all 'me,me, me'.
Can't knit, sew or do anything useful like that by the way so well done to those who can.
divedaisy congrats on leaving the 30's - have a drink on me! cocktail of your choice coming up......
night ladies sleep tight x

pulapula · 11/03/2009 22:59

oh and no knitting skills here (aged 37) and no-one in the family seems to be able to either so no hand-knitted stuff for any DCs.

Momino- I believe your mum when she says your DC3 is just as exciting as the first, as she is making a special trip from the US to see you and yours

flippineck · 11/03/2009 23:04

Bugger! Only just realised how late it is. Got sidetracked doing my Sainsbos order, what an exciting life I lead . Night all!

Momino · 11/03/2009 23:39

still here.
you're right pula, I do believe my mum. I can't wait till she comes to visit.

oh, i get a pointy belly too! looks really weird.

now really going to bed. I'm actually turning off this laptop. now.
g'night all.

FiKelly · 12/03/2009 07:38

divedaisy Happy birthday to you.. happy birthday to you. have a fantastic day and you know what they say 'life begins now!!!'

hoping to get on MN for a while later.. missing having a good natter.. but busy day ahead. taking then later collecting dog at groomers, parcelling up stuff we sold on ebay last night, taking it all to post office and getting our hall carpet professionally cleaned today too! somewhere in there i'll hopefully get some MN time.

amazingly ds slept till 5.30am this morning after going to bed at 5ish last night. as the stair gate was on he happily played in his room for an hour while i dozed.. so maybe he's starting another growth spurt?

couldn't get to sleep last night.. brain wouldn't shut off. fretting about offer for our flat that estate agent is trying to get upped.. persimmon seem to be open to finding a middle ground but nothing agreed yet.. (sigh)

Happy birthday divedaisy!

Am pooped. Dp came in last night just before midnight and he was a bit, ahem, squiffy. Then he was a tad 'poorly' an hour later. No way I can be angry - I've done it loads of times! Just couldn't get back to sleep afterwards!

Off to another conference today, back tomorrow pm. This time in Solihull. I get sent to the most glam of places!

Momino · 12/03/2009 09:21

Divedaisy, Happy Birthday! what's on for today? HOpe you have a lovely one.

DD2 had a rash yesterday which has faded a little but still there. Nursery thought at 1st it was chick pox but today it's more rashy than spotty, then slapped cheek syndr but her cheeks aren't too rosy. She doesn't have a temp, eating well so I took her to Nursery. I did mention she had her mmr last week.... could this be related? It was 10 days ago.

anyway, work keeps giving me 'extra' things to do. did they forget I'm on mat leave in 2.5 weeks? i'll hop on/off later. hope all are well.

FiKelly · 12/03/2009 09:38

just back off from taking dog to groomers... and made myself a cuppa. Bit dizzy so need to have 2nd breakfast i think!

momino My ds got a rash about the same time after his MMR (and a slight temp too) it could well be connected to the Jab

OP posts:
Momino · 12/03/2009 09:43

have that 2nd breakfast, Fi!

i agree and suspect dd2s rash is connected to the MMR. we'll see how she is today. hopefully nursery won't ring me as I need the work time!

Belgianchocolates · 12/03/2009 09:43

Morning everyone. Both my dcs are brilliant sleepers, but somehow I'm not. I'm shattered again today. For once I slept for a 4h stretch, but then I woke and couldn't go back to sleep, so another day where I've been awake from before 6am. I'm seriously thinking of locking the cat in the kitchen or something, I'm fed up with her meowing at our bedroom door at 5.30 am. She's got food and a litter box, she doesn't need anything and she knows she gets to deal with me when she wakes me that early. (I'm not a morning person so now I can't run I open my bedroom door and throws a pillow at her, but that doesn't deter her)

Today I'm going to get the rattle in my car checked out. DH said that if it's something major that needs fixing then we'll part exchange it for a Zafira rather than repairing. TBH my Corsa will be too small for 3 dcs anyway, I've tested it.

I'm also going to see a osteopath in the area to just have a word and see if she's got any experience with pregnant women, the receptionist on the phone couldn't tell me.

Finally I'm thinking about having pictures done of my bump and dcs by this photographer near me. I want a really really good picture to turn into birth announcement cards. I need them, because it Belgium it's tradition to send them and so it's sort of expected. There are some amazing cards out there in Belgium BTW, what's on offer in the UK is really boring next to that. Here's an example I've also got all my stuff to make 'baby sugar' parcels. Another Belgian tradition where visitors or anyone who buys a present get a gift with chocolate almonds attached. I think you crafty people on here would find this actually really interesting, because you can do it yourself (like me) and really get creative. Here's some examples 1 2 and a whole page of them

Belgianchocolates · 12/03/2009 09:47

Oh and Divedaisy: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope your dh will spoil you and that you'll have a lovely day today.

Momino Sounds like the MMR could very well be the cause of your dd's rash.

re pointy bellly: it's your tummy muscles separating. Try not to use your them to much and start pushing yourself up with your arms or it'll get worse.

ladyofmuswell · 12/03/2009 10:06

3D scan was brilliant - so special, but only problem was that I now feel so attached to LO that I'm feeling doubly panicked about anything going wrong.... Can't stop staring at the photos, amazing!
Happy birthday Divedaisy

Momino · 12/03/2009 10:09

Belgian, the almonds gifts are beautiful! did you do these? about birth announcements - i'm terrible at christmas cards so not sure I can get the motivation to do birth announcements. I feel bad: didn't do them for dd1 and 2.

Hope the osteopath helps.

ladyofmuswell · 12/03/2009 10:16

PS. Yes to pointy belly when I sit up from lying down - thought it meant the head was up near my ribs, but scan yesterday showed it's head down which is good news seeing as I'm nearly 33 weeks. Apparently we should try and roll onto side then gradually sit up rather than crunching those abdo muscles - also find I grunt less if I do it that way !

ladyhelen2 · 12/03/2009 11:58

Checking in! This thread has to be one of the fasted moving ever.

Belgian the chocolate almonds look fab. But when on earth do you find the time or indeed the energy to get it all sorted! I find it hard enough to just to get out of bed and dressed in the morning!

DS DH and my parents are off to centre parcs for the weekend tomorrow. My dad celebrates his birthday on Monday so its a celebration for him with a bit of a farewell thrown in as he is off to South Africa in 3 weeks for a new job. Great timing dad - 4 weeks before your new grandchild arrives. I was really pissed off about it but he is doing 10 weeks there and 4 weeks here so he'll be back at the end of june which is much better than the original plann.

On the bright side I have a pregnancy treatment booked at the spa on Sat morning. I cannot wait for a bit of pampering although I suspect I will simply fall asleep. DS has wet his bed 3 or 4 nights (I've lost track of all time now!) and on top of the visits to the loo in the night, it means I am up 4 or 5 times. Bloody exhausting.

andrina · 12/03/2009 12:12

hi all! my scan yesterday showed ds has turned head down as well! i am 32wks + 2 today and quite happy with the progress so far. i'll be going for a growth scan in 2 weeks. hopefully we will be able to get a good look at him during that scan.

sweetbroody, get in touch with us or give us your email address. dandy, polony, sausage and i are meeting up soon. we'll let you know the details. looking forward to that!

and happy birthday divedaisy

Belgianchocolates · 12/03/2009 12:25

Hmm, that last link to the page of 'baby sugar' wasn't right. Here is it again. My own things I'm making are going to be a lot simpler! More like this. These little boxes are actually the colour scheme I'm going for: a brown box with a bright green ribbon. Quite unisex I think. The sweets inside will be green and brown too, they're actually not almonds but chocolate with a sugar coating, though traditionally they used to be almonds, but chocolate is tastier! For the children I've got got a green rubber duck with sweets attached. I think I'll just do a few a day, with 8 weeks left to go I should have plenty of time . After the baby is born I'll have to write it's name and d.o.b. on all of the boxes. That will be a hassle. Nice job for my mum I think

Detsy and llare I definitely want to meet up, but I'm not familiar with Stafford really, I've only been tere 1x and that was 8 years ago! So we'd have to meet somewhere easy to find. What was the place you suggested again Detsy?

llareggub · 12/03/2009 13:09

I don't know anywhere in Stafford either! Have satnav, will travel, so it should be OK but I definitely cannot be relied upon to suggest anywhere!

DS slept well last night so I am feeling soooo much better. We are also sending out birth announcements but it is very easy for us to do, due to DH's business in print and design! Last time I was a bit late sending them so we just did a combined birth announcement and christmas card, easy!

ladyhelen2 have a great day at the spa on Saturday. I shall be very jealous as we are painting our bedroom on Saturday (more nesting!) and putting together our new furniture.

divedaisy happy birthday!

sausagemash I very nearly went on a shopping trip to Solihull today. We could've met for coffee there! Wave as you drive past...

chocolatebunnies · 12/03/2009 14:06

happy birthday divedaisy have a good day, hope you get treated extra special!

im in a really grumpy mood today, didnt sleep well, am pissed off with everything and everyone, you know when you just want to be on your own, feeling really down and crappy.

keep arguing with dp, not coping very well, have decided i dont want the pram we got and hes pissed off about that, i want to go for a 4d scan and he doesnt, so therefor i cant. so wound up, and dont get me started on this wedding malarky, its a complete nightmare.

so if anyone is interested in a brand new never been used chicco trio 4 me in vertigo, let me know, someone cheer me up!

Lazzer · 12/03/2009 15:06

Chocbunnies those Chicco pushchairs look fantastic - I'd stick with it if I was you! Would love one myself, but have a budget of about £150 so be getting a (untrendy and basic - I know) MacLaren I expect.

I hope you are okay though...

Lazzer · 12/03/2009 15:06

Belgianchocolates · 12/03/2009 15:49

chocbunnies I know how you feel; lack of sleep really is some form of torture isn't it? I think for the last week or so I've been averaging 5-6h of broken sleep a night. Unfortunately with 2dcs, 1 ap and 1 handyman in the house being left alone is just not an option for me. I've found life is much more bearable if I try and get over my grumpiness and smile. Try and not let it get to you too much, it'll be your normal state for the next few months.
Is your Chicco pushchair still new and in the boxes? Do you still have the receipt? If so you might be able to exchange it for something you'd prefer.

llare Detsy proposed somewhere on the previous thread, but I really can't remember where it was. It sounded like something that wouldn't be too difficult to find. I don't have a satnav, but plenty of experience trying to find my way around unfamiliar places, so I'll get there too!

Gosh my tubigrip is really getting to me today. It's too tight and uncomfortable. I might take it off and hobble with crutches instead. My bump wants to be liberated!

I booked a session with that photographer today too. It's £65 for a 3h session in my own home, which I think is reasonable and it would be so nice to have a couple of lovely bump pictures together with the dcs.

pulapula · 12/03/2009 15:50

I agree with Lazzer- the pushchair looks great but i can't justify getting a fifth pushchair.

I was in a really grump mood earlier too, but just had 30 mins nap and everything seems much better now lol.

If the wedding planning is getting you down, is it worth waiting until after LO is here- I worry about all the pressure on you from family. Either that or just do what you want and tell everyone else to stop interfering.

chocolatebunnies · 12/03/2009 16:10

belgian i bought the pram months ago, i still have the box, and its still in all the polythene bags, but i got it online so i doubt they'll let me do that, i really want a Quinny Buzz, but they were too expensive back when we bought this one, now they've typically come down and im kicked myself for being so damn impatient

sleep is just a nightmare, i've reached the stage where im so tired but just can't get to sleep

pulapula i wish i was allowed to buy 5 prams lol! dont think DP would allow it, espec as he's still grumping about the scan i want.

the only part thats getting me down is that everyone seems to think they have some kind of right to stick their oar in, not just family mind, friends as well, some are just being plain rude and suggesting we cancel it, its too soon blah blah when i just feel like screaming FK OFF, its none of their business, even one of me and dps so called friends wrote on my dp's facebook wall "dead man walking, dude just f*g run and dont look back" what kind of twat writes that somewhere where everyone can see it, including me! im so angry with him, me and dp have been together 4 years and are about to have our 2nd child! Just becus hes 24 and Im 22, and therefore our mates dont live the same life as us. ARGGHHHH
