Right then, I can't stand the mad scrolling any more so I'm starting a new thread.

Hope you feel better today, fashill. Hugs. Don't worry about the stretchmarks. Wear them with pride as my last midwife told me...

Saw a midwife yesterday. Yet again a new one! On the upside, she said that what I experienced last week was probably pre-labour and that she doesn't expect me to go full-term! Wahey! Knowing my luck, I'll still be here at 42 weeks though. Feeling much more positive now generally.

Hello everyone, I've not posted in AGES so good to hear everyone's well - more or less. 35 weeks now and am desperate to finish work - never anticipated being quite this tired, I certainly wasn't with DD1. Three weeks left at work still! Am almost hoping the contractions start at my desk so I can leave a bit earlier, and the thought of my boss boiling up some hot towels is quite amusing.....

fisil · 22/04/2005 16:23

oh fashill, can I have that number too? I get worried about having to get to Kingston and dp being over an hour away!

uwila · 22/04/2005 16:57

Noggermum I had that same though about contrations at my desk about an hour ago.

Yes please, taxi phone number??

tab · 22/04/2005 17:17

Noggermum, you're making me feel quite guilty. Im 35 weeks and finished work last week. You must be knackered. Midwife seemed to think Id worked quite late as it's second time around. Cant believe you're doing 3 more weeks!! I was so relieved and I dont think it's til you stop that you realise just how exhausted you are.

tab · 22/04/2005 17:21

Tinker, re homebirth. Dont be put off by neighbours. I think our walls are quite thin one side. One side we have an older couple who quite often have their tv on at volume 300!! and the other side the lady has recently had a baby herself and our bedroom's not next to that wall.
I think Ive just about made up my mind. Ive told the midwife and she's written it down! Im going to a workshop thing on Sunday in Camden which is all day so I'll tell you about it if you like. Are you in the London area - its 25 quid I think.

Tinker · 22/04/2005 17:23

Tab- not in London but will follwo how you got on. I'm 38 weeks next week adn finish on Friday. Thought I was get a bit crampy today!

northstar · 22/04/2005 17:24

Tbh I think it is as difficult to keep working as be looking after lo's at this stage. The lucky ones are the first timers who have finished up work, but as such, they will NEVER appreciate how much. I used to want to scream first time round when people said to me "make the most of this time" but now I know what they meant. A good friend told me to go get all the books I've ever wanted to read, because i'd never have time again. She's right so far.
Oh last night dp said OMG look at your thighs they're massive! He was really sorry, but way too stupid to lie his way out of it, just followed it by "but I've not noticed them before"

northstar · 22/04/2005 17:25

Then he bought me home an ice-cream to say sorry LOL

fisil · 22/04/2005 18:55

Thinking of being a 2nd timer - OMG what have we let ourselves in for? DS just wanted his dolly to have bathtime too. So we did a trial run, bathing ds and baby at the same time. How will it work when I can't abandon the baby in its bath to chase after the toddler? If that dolly was a real baby it would have either drowned or frozen during that escapade! Well, I guess we will cope, won't we. But the thought of it ...

logic · 22/04/2005 19:37

OMG, I think the baby has engaged at last! Given that last night's contractions were so severe, I couldn't understand how my back has been so much less painful today. I just caught sight of the bump in the wardrobe mirror and it's definately dropped. There is a gap at the top which is the size of my hand, there are no feet there. Brilliant!

wow, looks like you lot have had a busy day

Just one thing about he weight issue that might cheer people up, I must have gained 2.5 st for each of my 2 DD, but I ended up being slimmer afterwards, especially after the second one. I think its the running after a toddler and caring for a baby takes up a lot of calories ... but I think you have to give it time, 6month at least to get your body back slowly, otherwise you just get frustrated and binge ...

And I am envious of all of you who are already engaged and suffering . I just feel fat, heavy and lazy and wondering wether I will go over my due date

logic · 23/04/2005 09:47

Did you have a nice evening out Myermay?

fisil · 23/04/2005 09:53

Is anyone else beginning to get wary of ringing people? Every time I ring someone these days the conversation goes:

brrring brrring, brring brring

Hello?

Hi!

Hello fisil. OMG, I've just had a glass of wine, oh no, I should be fine to drive over. You OK?

OR

Hello fisil, go on, tell me. What've you called him? Oh, congratulations!

OR

Hello fisil. Are you OK? Do you need me to come over?

And then when I say "no, I was just ringing for a chat" or "no, I just wanted to see how your appointment went" or "shall we meet up for the boys to play?" They get really disappointed.

So now I feel guilty before I dial anyone's number! I just rang my childless brother (waited til 9:30, I was kind), and he let it ring cos he was asleep. But when he did 1471 he rang back immediately in a panic. All I wanted to say was shall we meet up this afternoon!

cab · 23/04/2005 09:56

oh oh help! Think I MAY just have had the show???
I'm not ready - at all. Major panic here. Could still be a week or so I think after the show, but..... maybe it's not the show. Oh jeez.

cab · 23/04/2005 09:59

Fisil - I just phoned my mum and asked her to come and give me a hand - but not sure whether to tell her about the suspected 'show'.

tab · 23/04/2005 10:33

morning everyone. Im sciving upstairs, pretending I've taken an extra long shower and dh is downstairs with ds1 watching cbeebies. We're having a last go at potty training before the new arrival, asking him every 1/2 hour if he'd like to sit on potty. Its only 10.30 - and its so tedious, knowing that we'll probably get at least 3-4 accidents and I'll be mopping the floor. Still - am determined once again. It is exhausting looking after the toddler as well and I feel guilty cos Im just really short tempered and dont feel like doing anything with him. Im really lucky as dh has been home a lot lately.
Cab - how exciting, a show. #thinking of you. Might be your time. Everyday I think I must pack my bag just in case.
Northstar your partner sounds about as subtle as mine. He laughed at me the other day and said he just could not believe how huge I looked. Still, he's very compliant when I order him to go out on a chocolate mission and he is trying to be supportive about a homebirth.
Oh well - we must all be a day nearer!!

logic · 23/04/2005 10:55

OMG Cab! How exciting! Pack those hospital bags.

Tab, my HV told me not to bother with the potty training until after the baby is born. Too great a risk of regression. Isn't cbeebies great though?

OP posts:
fisil · 23/04/2005 11:22

we've had a special request for pants this morning, tab, so we're in the same position as you. Been on over an hour, and no accident yet (but no wee yet either). I was chatting with the nursery staff yesterday and they were saying that he is definitely ready, but I absolutely refuse to, like logic, because of the risk of regression!

Very exciting about the show, cab. I didn't have one last time - what's it like?

Hi guys nothing more yet except crampy pains, but that's probably caused by me panicking.
Fisil - hope it's not too much info, but just a big blob of jelly-like sticky stuff which I THINK is what I had last time - no pink in it.
Probably panicking over nothing - but at least it's got me moving a bit. Still haven't packed a bag............

northstar · 23/04/2005 13:19

Great posts from everyoneLOL at bathtime in the fisil household! Will be popping in all wkend to see if there's any news. I went out for dinner last night, was tempted to have curry but there were so much nicer things on the menu. I decided to have something else, then try sex when i got home in case baby needed some encouragement to come this wkend BUT I was way too full up and tired and just pg so it was an early, uneventful night for the northstar household!

logic · 23/04/2005 13:34

There isn't any action going on in the logic household either, northstar Haven't got the motivation or the energy and I can't stand my ridiculous body shape...

Hello all. Weird, just had midwife round (15 minutes notice ) and was asking her what a show was like since didn't have one last time. She's also booking me in for a late scan sicne I measured 36 cms 10 days ago but am now 35cms so, we shall see what's happening...

tab · 23/04/2005 18:12

DH has just taken ds1 out to park, despite very grey and overcast here in london and has been raining so I thought Id have a quick read. no luck with potty training - one huge wee in his chair (thankfully his chair!) which he just didnt mention until I went to give him a hug! and then every excuse to put a nappy on. You're probably both right ~Fisil and Logic - my problem has been that the nursery insisted on starting a couple of months ago (he's there 3 days aweek & has apparently mastered it more or less) and we just havent made any progress at home.
Have got so many papers and stuff to tidy and just keep making excuses. Also got a load of baby stuff down from attic which all needs washing. Need a housekeeper!! Need to win the lotto.
Have had upset stomach which Im sure is down to iron tablets prescribed by midwife. Have cut down and am only tking them every other day. mwife said very unusual as most get opposite prob.Has anybody else had upset tummies. I seem to have had it alot this pregnancy and didnt at all the last time.
Sorry rambling on. Will stop now. Hope you all have good evenings.
