morning all

Juwesm · 04/03/2009 08:41

Morning (yawn).

PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 08:50

Morning Ju and Bronze.

Schulte / Lulu - Have you received a satisfaction survey from the hospital?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 04/03/2009 08:52

morning everyone!

i have been awake since 3:30. guess how I feel today?

had a horrible dream last night that DH let MIL hold the new baby before I had even seen him/her. (it was one of those weird dreams where I wasn't feeling well so I let DH and DS go to the hospital and I wasn't even there for the birth....wishful thinking!!) I woke up very very very very ANGRY.

i think it's time for DH and I to talk about what's going to happen after baby is born.

Swaliswan · 04/03/2009 08:55

Morning All.

I'm on a mission to pack my hospital bag today. I have a question though...what are you going to pack in your labour bag? I really don't get the idea of having a bag for use in labour that goes home afterwards because last time I used virtually nothing from it during labour but I wanted all of the snacks etc on the postnatal ward. I also used my TENS machine afterwards so I don't want to send that home. I've been told to pack my toiletries, nappies, clothes, towels etc in my proper bag, but I'll want them in the delivery suite. I just don't get it!

What snacks are people going to pack in their labour bag?

BarbarellaNz · 04/03/2009 09:16

Hi Everyone,

Just sneaking on before we go off to the hospital! We have to be in at 10. Spent yesterday there as legs, ankles and feet suddenly turned into big sausages. They were keeping an eye on things and have booked me in for c-section today at 2!! If they all have to go to NICU one (or two) may be sent to different hospitals but they want to do it today as swelling etc. suggests they're ready to come out. I will be 34 + 3 today so have made the 34 week target anyway

I have texted my buddy MrsFossil and have told her that dh will text her as soon as there is any news. Thanks so much for all your good wishes and positive vibes ((((((hugs for all April mums)))))

Lots of love, Barbarella XXX

PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 09:19

Barb - Everything is crossed for you. Woohoo, how bloody exciting. .

PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 09:20

Poor Purple, can you catch up on sleep today?

bronze · 04/03/2009 09:20

swali I've never done a labour bag.

I go for a me bag and a baby bag and just put the things I'll need first at the top. So top of babies bag a nappy, vest babygro etc. Top of my bag what I'll wear in labour etc.

Ooooh just saw Barbies pot

Hope everything goes well and can't wait to hear your news. Lets hope none need special care

PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 09:21

Swali - energy bars, lucozade?

thebluefoxategreensocks · 04/03/2009 09:26

BarbarellaNz: Hope all goes well for you today! How exciting! Can't wait to hear your news. xx

surprisenumber3 · 04/03/2009 09:27

Barb - all the very best of luck, can't wait to hear back from you

Swali - last time I packed three bags (labour bag, ward bag for me, baby bag) and hadn't a clue what was in where when it came to it! This time I've just packed one.

Going to catch up on the last million posts now

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 09:31

Yes Puzzle - I got the survey too. It's sitting in the glove compartment of the car where I left it after picking up the post when we last visited our house .

To be honest I feel so disconnected from the hospital that I don't know what to say. My GPs are pretty good, my sonographer was professional and thorough, the community midwife is a little moody. But I think I spent more time at Kingston Hospital being poked and prodded post-miscarriage than I have for this pregnancy.

I guess as I'm currently over 100 miles away I feel quite geographically disconnected too. I keep running over in my mind the best routes to the local hospitals here in case I go into labour early. Must remember to speak to some local taxi companies to see if they take labouring women (not all do).

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 09:32

Ooooooh - I just noticed Barbarella's post.

Best of luck Barbarella!!!! How exciting. I can't wait to hear all about the trio.

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 09:33

Oh - just had a very geeky thought (and a bit late really) but yesterday would have been a great birthday for the triplets - the 3rd day of the 3rd month. Ah well.

PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 09:35

I was only at the hospital ever for the two scans. After my incompetent midwife experience and not seeing anyone for 17 weeks I had quite a bit of grumbling to do on the other information section. But praise too for how my complaint was handled.

mrsfossil · 04/03/2009 09:36

Hi all good news about barbarella i bet she can't wait. So exciting another few weeks and we'll all be popping like peas. I will let you all know as soon as i hear.

Swaliswan - i'm a bit confused about the 2 bag thing. Didn't do it last time although i thought i would be going home the next day as it was i was in for 4 days because of emergency section so dh had to bring in a pile more stuff.

Yesterday i did my last bit of shopping for hospital lots of pads for boobs and under carriage. Newborn pampers nappies £10 for a large box from asda.

Also picked up antibac wipes and hand gel just incase.

I also got some soft moist toilet tissues incase its a bit sore down below afterwards.

PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 09:38

Geeky is cool. In a few years I will have a birthday where the day, month, and year are the same number and i'm very excited about it. It feels signifciant somehow.

PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 09:40

I wonder how Nutty is getting on this morning.

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 09:44

Ah Puzzle - a fellow geek! I realised recently that DH will turn 40 on 12/12/12. How cool is that!

I think I need to start planning the party now .

Love the expression 'popping like peas' Mrs Fossil.

And I don't understand the 2 bag thing either. I had everything in 1 bag (stuff for baby, washbag, clean nightie, snacks and cartons of juice).

Why do you need a seperate bag for labour? I guess I didn't have a tens machine or a CD player or anything like that. My bag was quite straightforward.

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 09:47

Oh gosh - yes. How many weeks is Nutty now? Should be OK to whip the baby out if necessary shouldn't it.

She's been keeping in touch with Springy but as Springy is in the wars too, we may not hear from either of them.

SpringySunshine · 04/03/2009 09:48

BB, I can't believe you did all that last night when you weren't feeling well! Nice hotel & black tie awards dinner sounds swish for tonight, though!

mathsmummy, well done on your observation! I'm sure I had a cervix question for you, but can't remember it right now. I'll be sure to keep it stored somewhere safe in my brain so you can be the special lady to answer it for me when I remember - I know you love hearing about our bits in such detail

Schulte, it was the front door that he was fixing naked Unfortunately for the strange man who lives opposite, it's just a wooden door with no glass & it was all on the side of the door that's in our flat (the self-closing mechanism detached itself & it needed putting back on), so I was the only one who got to enjoy the show. Puzzle's car door on the other hand...

& does anybody else feel that Puzzle's talk of her fast metabolism may just be an unfounded excuse to greedily neck the champers at the first opportunity?

Ooh, LuLu, when you were talking about a cold glass of wine on a hot summer's evening, I was thinking 'ooh, I really want some Pimms!', but I see you got that covered I last drank Pimms the week after I conceived (in my spotty dress ) & just thinking about it now makes me long for those ancient times. The ridiculous thing is that's still not pre-pregnancy & it seems like forever ago. I don't remember not being pregnant!

Barbarelly gets her babies today! Yay! Can't wait to hear the exciting news! & photos! We'll need PHOTOS! Fingers crossed they can all stay together.

I've texted Nutty this morning to ask for news, but nothing as of yet. Hopefully that just means that she's fine, but resting.

SpringySunshine · 04/03/2009 09:50

LuLu, I've been here ages but it takes hours to catch up these days

I'll have a birthday on 09/10/11 in a couple of years. That's pretty much as good as it'll get.

surprisenumber3 · 04/03/2009 09:52

am working out birthdays now. DS2 will be 7 on 1/1/11 - never thought of that before!

PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 09:54

OMG Lulu - How many coincidences are there in our lives? I won't be 40 that day, but that's my birthday!
