Ju I used a Coorie sling at first with DD. It was brilliant and she slept wonderfully in it at first but as she was a pretty long baby she was soon too scrunched up so I moved onto my SILs old Baby Bjorn. The Baby Bjorn is supposed be to excellent but I got bad backache almost immediately every time I used it. This time round I am going to go and get it professionally fitted (John Lewis nursery dept will do this for free) and see if that makes it better. Newer models also have an extra lumber support fitting (you pay extra but it's probably worth it).

I have been eyeing up those ones that you wrap around yourself but I don't think I can justify buying another one. Especially as DH seems keen to get a double buggy after all.

Conkertree was going to go to a sling meet so see if she can give you some feedback. I've always been too nervous to attend one but you can look for a local support person on there and pick their brain, learn different ways of tying the sling etc etc.

Oh - ok - see you there.

With a black cab you just put the whole buggy or pram into it as it is with the baby inside.

You can take babies without car seats into taxis and minicabs as the law provides for this by saying they only have to use car seats 'if available'. So for a short hop around London or something like that, it's absolutely fine. I tend to take my own for longer trips though because I am quite safety conscious on the whole. BTW if you are living dangerously and taking a baby on your knee, put the seatbelt around you and not them as well in a misguided maternal way, or you will crush them to death in an accident.

Surprise, my waters don't usually go but I have had a show once.

Juwesm, Re: She who shall not be named, I tried this, it's a bit too Nazi for me personally. I found all of my kids settled into a pattern eventually by about 6-9 months anyway. The blackout blind tip is clever though. I will probably buy a travel one from the NCT shop for this summer.

Re: slings, I have forgotten how to use mine, but it's a Baby Bjorn. Plus we have a special backpack for hiking with them in.
