Nah, you smell fine...

I've just ordered a lambskin rug from Kiddicare - our NCT teacher has one and they're sooooo soft and lovely! Can't wait to snuggle with it...

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/03/2009 11:59

I mean - snuggle BABY in it, of course... I'd never buy one just for me, that would be selfish!! [grin[

tristaleejac · 03/03/2009 11:59

back in a mo, DS wants beans on toast

frostyfrekkles · 03/03/2009 12:01

you're not whiffy darling, but you are a little repetitive

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/03/2009 12:03

Hooray!!!! Just checked bank statement and backdated MA has been deposited!! Whoo hoo!!

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:08

I have no idea what i am meant tp be paid from one month to the next.....

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:08

Well, home and back in less than an hour (on foot, I might add), and I appear to have just booked a home birth! No fuss, no bother, MW just got the forms straight out, all filled in to send off to Supervisor of MWs, went through her checklist of things to tell HB people, I went through my qs and DONE!

After seeing the difficulty many people have in getting support for HB I am a little concerned it was all too easy. Perhaps lulling me into a false sense of security. Actually, I wouldn't have minded a bit more fuss actually. I went in and said I'd like to discuss the idea, but we didn't really discuss pros and cons or anything. The only things she said were that if waters broke and nothing happening after 12 hours they would want to take me in for monitoring, and that if transfer needed, they would not take me to 'my' hospital, but to one of the two consultant units in my area (even though 'my' hosp MUST be closer with blue lights on). Don't know if she just assumed I had read up on pros and cons and made informed decision. For all she knows, I could have asked for HB cos someone told me you got free cake!!

Anyway, don't mean to sound ungrateful at the ease of the process, especially as some people have such unsupportive MWs and have struggled to get the HB they really want. I am pleased, quite excited about it actually. It's all go go go for live homebirth thread!

Better tell DH!! Think I will keep it quiet from parents and in-laws for now. Not sure how they'll respond. Also better acquire a pool.

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:10

coool good luck with home birth!!!

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:10

cant believe they won't transfer you to our hospital though like you say thought that would have made more sense..

tristaleejac · 03/03/2009 12:12

Juwesm that sounds great, I'm jealous, I'd love a HB, but am settling for the kind of half-house option of a MW led unit

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:12

I think it will be nice to be at home, rather than have to spend at least 3-5 days in hospital like me ( something I am really freaking out about) shame they cant invent home c sections ( i do have a large dining room table..... )

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:17

Kaz - It'll just be like work - one of those days when you get in early after not leaving until really late the night before, and you feel like you've not been away! Plus, think of the easy access to bacon rolls.....

Can you push to be released sooner, if everything goes smoothly? They're not expecting the beanies to have to go to SCBU are they?

Re: maternity pay - I also haven't got a clue. Still haven't actually had confirmation of my maternity leave, and I started it yesterday! Maybe if I keep quiet they'll just keep paying me full time.....shhhhh........

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:17

have you got a good boiler for your pool?

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:19

lol oooh yes bacon rolls, that makes the prospect a lot better. They said at least 3 days with c section but with twins sometimes a couple of extra days to establish feeding.

I also always think the hosp is really creeepy at night. lol

tristaleejac · 03/03/2009 12:21

mmmm bacon rolls with runny egg.... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:23

Ohhhh runny egg, how I miss you!

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/03/2009 12:24

mmmmm runny egg with ANYTHING...

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 03/03/2009 12:25

Boiler is not fabulous, has to be said. Do have a REALLY BIG saucepan though! Maybe I should get the pool that has the cover for keeping heat in - think is the BPIAB?

Now having small panic that I have made rash decision.
Reassured that I can just decide to go into hosp at any point though.

tristaleejac · 03/03/2009 12:25

I must say I'm really impressed with the amount of people so positive they are going to breastfeed their babies. When I had DS nearly 4 years ago, I was the only one in ward who wasn't bottlefeeding. Fair enough some of the mum's tried and gave up but lots didn't even consider it. Not trying to start a debate or anything, each to their own and all that. It's just nice to see a change in general opinion.

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:28

BF free! Bottle feeding costs. That does it for me right from the start. Come on breasts - live up to it! Don't let me down!

tristaleejac · 03/03/2009 12:28

nutty that sounds awful, please try to find out what your BP is, just in case

tristaleejac · 03/03/2009 12:29

juwesm you're totally right, I'm using terry nappies too, what money I'll save not having to buy formula and disposables

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:32

Hurrah for reusable nappies! I've got some Bum Genius ones. Have you got proper terry squares? My Mum was all for me getting terry squares and nappy pins..."If it was good enough for you...", but thought DH might get on better with a more high-tech option.

(I should also mention that I do have a pack of Pampers Newborns, just in case I flip and decide I can't be doing with all the washing!)

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:33

ju lol at the saucepan. I could just imagine pip (my dog) trying to go for a swim if I tried a birthing pool!

I am going to bottle feeding although most people agree I probably have adequate eqipment for BF I just think that if I was having one baby I would do but I feel I need more support from hubby with having two.

Although I do think I need to buy more bottles as only have about 5 at the moment. not sure how many i need with the two of them.
