Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:33

I sound like someone out of Swallows and Amazons with all my 'hurrah's and 'goodness's.

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:34

You have enough equipment for that woman in the US with 8

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:35

I know you are sounding like a right earth mother.. what with home birth, breast feeding and reusable nappies. you will be cooking the placenta next!

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:35

Thanks, I was thinking yesterday that Rigby and peller might be quite apt names...

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:36

sandwich on loose women just made me feel really nauseous...

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:36

I wonder if with twins you could do a mixture of bottle and breasty? If you did 50/50, assume your milk production would stay high enough to keep going, as feeding 2 50% of time is same as 1 100% of time? I daresay its all down to nipples and teats though.

I've got my tube of Lansinoh on standby...

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:37

Oh dear, turned this into Ju and Kaz thread.....

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:38

I was thinking the same myself. where has everyone else gone.....

hummm possibly with the aid of a breast pump and expressing...

tristaleejac · 03/03/2009 12:38

yeah I have the proper terry ones, with nappy nippas. Been practising my folding techniques!
I bought the whole bambino mio birth to potty nappies with DS1 and loved using them but after only a week or so his dad flipped and wouldn't allow them to be used (he had no patience for the folding, which wasn't even that hard)
After we split up he dumped all the baby stuff I had kept, so it was such a waste. Anyway, this time, new DP who is equally keen to use reusables and is also equally keen to learn folding, so hopefully won't have any problems!

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:43

I like the look of the reusables.. but I panic everytime I think of twice as much as everything.... I am just woosing out about everything at the moment I think. I keep thinking how different my opinions would be if i were having one. I would be more likely to breastfeed and would definatley use reusable nappies. (not sure I would be brave enough for the HB though am quite a wimp and would have the epidural put in now if i could...)

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:43

What an arse! He might at least have sold it on ebay, that is surely more revengeful than just dumping it?

Nappy nippas scared the willies out of me at first. Couldn't work them out! The Bum Genius ones just have poppers and stretchy velcro stuff. DH has investigated them more thoroughly than me (high tech, again). I plan to get on and get them all pre-washed, if only yesterday's weather would return.

I am sounding rather eco-wholesome, aren't I? I do have some Ecover washing liquid you know. And a compost bin (albeit the contetns must be entirely unusable as compost).

frostyfrekkles · 03/03/2009 12:43

oooh how interesting juwesm, I'm hoping to do the very same as you on friday and hoping for a supportive midwife too. As i've just moved I've got new midwives and therefore haven't asked yet. Fingers crossed they are nice, will only feel comfortable doing it if the midwife is confident and supportive and nice.

aw nutty sweetheart, god you've had a rough time health wise, and you're always so lovely and happy and funny. much respect to you lady. hope the apt goes ok today

thanks for perspectives on moving everyone, i'm trying not to panic. slurping rescue remedy, ordering daylight light bulbs and deep breathing. yoga on thursday. got to stay positive. going to hulahoop in the garden soon.... that'll help

i have huge feet! that's something to feel positive about!

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 03/03/2009 12:45

Nice one on the reusables! We're going to try a combination of Totsbots Bamboozles (i got a really good deal on eBay) and disposables for when I can't be bothered... should be interesting!

On a related note, my Dad and DH are both FASCINATED at the idea that Bamboo can be absorbent... they're both super-keen to see how they work! I never thought two grown men could get so excited about using nappies!!!

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:45

Chat to Barbarelly once her trips have arrived - I don't know what her plans are wrt breasts/ nappies etc, as am too new to thread, but I imagine if she can do it with 3, you'll be able to do it with two.

That sounds a bit like 'even you could do it with two', not how its meant!

tristaleejac · 03/03/2009 12:45

Is there no way you would try reusables? I just keep thinking of twice the expense with disposables. Your boobs would provide you with enough milk to feed 2, but I do understand it would be very difficult if you don't feel you have enough support

tristaleejac · 03/03/2009 12:48

yeah he was an arse for getting rid of all the stuff, but hey, he's a fantastic dad to DS1 so I'll not hold it against him

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:49

Bamboo is v in at the moment isn't it? Lots of bamboo clothes in the catalogues and so on. Is it an organic thing making it so popular for baby/ maternity kit?

I'm telling you, make it high-tech and the DPs come rushing to help. That's why they like TENS - it's got buttons. I'm not sure I want too much help with the electric breast pump, but baby monitors are definitely a blue job. What else can we 'tech-up'?

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:49

Has anyone looked into the reusable nappies where a company pick them up once a week and drop a new supply off. Or is that a defeating the object.

Trist: I also cant believe he chucked everything out. That just sounds petty...

Frosty.. I only have size 4 feet!

I have a supply of bach rescue remedy must find soon methinks.

Hubby is very excited at moment as baby moniter has arrived (also a computer geek)although I might need a degree course to learn how to use it!

tristaleejac · 03/03/2009 12:50

kitty - men are so funny they have to know the ins and outs of how everything works. I always find it very amusing too

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:51

Plus, Kaz, have you not just had new wash-machine plumbed in, or did I make that up?

Don't want to give the impression am huge reusable nappy fanatic (yet) - just seemed like a good idea at the time (give me a few weeks for a final verdict).

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:52

You have ignited my interest in reusable nappies and am now investigating online...

lol about the triplet conquest.. i got that a lot when the octuplets were born.. ha ha

tristaleejac · 03/03/2009 12:52

DP was amazed at CTG monitor when I was in hospital last week, he had a gadget to keep himself occupied

kazkiss · 03/03/2009 12:53

no had washing machine for about 4 years now. lol

Juwesm · 03/03/2009 12:53

Lawks, have immediately made assumption that your EP (???) is an arse and split was not amicable, Trista. Apologies for that. Assumptions make and ass of u and me, as we all know.

frostyfrekkles · 03/03/2009 12:54

my blokey is obsessed with his home cinema system. currently we have a 6 foot high shelving unit infront of the only window in the living room i order that the projector can be positioned.
