No barnowl you aren't the only mad one, this is number 5 for me

LovelyPear · 12/03/2009 18:55

evening all.

tigger and scarlotti, glad to hear you're feeling "normal" again now (if it's possible to feel normal when first preg!). Hope everyone else is ok.

I'm feeling paranoid today as I don't really have any symptoms other than sore boobs (which is prob not helped by the fact that I am still bfeeding my 12 month old!). I really suffered with ms last time, so just worried that there's something wrong. Anyone else experience this? Perhaps it's just early days...

Other thing that worries me, is that last time when we planned to get preg, I cut out all caffeine, booze etc and took folic acid months beforehand. This time round it was all unexpected, so this little one hasn't had the same benefits!

ollie131 · 12/03/2009 18:58

Hi, I am 6 weeks pregnant with my first one and been told to join this site by my sister. Sorry for being a bit slow but Can anyone tell me what DS DD etc all mean? I have no real symptoms as yet so feeling a bit of a fraud! It's a funny feeling knowing you're pregnant but not feeling it.

EasyEggs · 12/03/2009 19:16

Congrats Ollie

dd-darling daughter
ds-darling son

Brain blank atm but if there's any others just shout.

Do you know when you're due yet? Add yourself to the ever expanding list

southernbelle77 · 12/03/2009 19:21

DS - Darling Son
DD - Darling Daughter
DH - Darling Husband

Is anyone else having cravings? I've been vegetarian for more years than I can remember but I'm craving meat something rotten!!

PootleTheFlump · 12/03/2009 19:25

I am exhausted, more tired than I have ever been before, cannot imagine how those of your with other dcs manage - respect ! I am mostly to be found on the sofa!
My boobs seem to be getting more sore too, may have to go back to the sports bra (any other tips?) but no sickness yet.

newhere I nearly burst into tears at a women in a shop being kind to her child, but realised this may lok very odd and shuffled off!

lovelypear I think a lot of people find themselves in that situation (and far, far worse) without huge evidence of harm. Just get taking that pregnacare now and am sure all will be very well x

Cies · 12/03/2009 19:27

Evening all.

Good luck to all those with spotting and early scans. It's such a worrying time.

I told my mother yesterday because last time I waited, hoping for the best, and had to break the news of pg and mc at the same time. So I now prefer to keep her in the loop. No one else knows though.

Luckily both DH and I decided to give up drinking for Lent, so I don't have to have anyone looking at me askance for not drinking for another month, by which time I will probably tell ILs and my siblings.

Amyboo I must get out my Spanish pg book and reread it so I remember all the right terms in Spanish. I think it makes you sound more confident and on top of it all with the doctors, which I definitely need here.

ursigurke · 12/03/2009 19:38

ollie131 - had the same problems but got this list of acronyms

PeaJay · 12/03/2009 19:40

Good evening everyone.

lovelypear i feel the same as you - no ms which I had last time for weeks (although I can't remember from when) and I don't feel pregnant. I have got permanent stomach ache though - which is stressing me aswell. On the positive side though one of my books says no 2 pregnancies are the same, and I have a friend who had no symptoms both times.

Wish I had a crystal ball........

beckynbump · 12/03/2009 20:12

Hi there everyone, I have been on the other thread for a while and just thought I would make the move over here. Actually I am the imposter who has their due date in oct!

Am in Cumbria, anyone else here? V surprised to hear alot of you have to go though a doctors appt before you go to the mw. My last pregnancy I just rang and made an appt with mw, so did the same this time. Seems the normal thing to do here and I guess as the mw is the expert, its sensible.

I am lucky as I don't seem to have ms again but it would be nice to feel just a little queasy sometime so I could prove I was pregnant.

Had a v quick birth (nearly home one!)at a midwife unit, but a retained placenta last time so I am banned from the midwife unit again Going to have to try to find a consultant led unit I am happy with then transfer to my lovely midwife unit asap after birth. Apparently you only have to stay in 6h after birth. The mf run unit is just so lovely and small, I felt so much more happier there than a huge hospital.

Got my 12 wk scan brought forward a week due to Easter so counting the days until 8th April.
Bye for now

scarlotti · 12/03/2009 21:04

Hi all

Glad so many from the other thread have made it over here ((waves))

Don't feel so tired at the moment but no doubt that's on its way. Keep waking up early too which is annoying. nausea is the worst with me - not sure i can cope with another 6 weeks of it to be honest!

We've told dd(14) but won't tell ds(3) until we want the wider world to know as he won't keep a secret! Once we've had a few scans and know all is well then we'll start to tell more people

Does anyone know anything about twins - my DP is a non identical twin, does this increase the chances of us having twins? I had also heard that as you get older the chances are increased (I'm 37) - any info welcomed

scarlotti · 12/03/2009 21:43

Yes, i've heard that the older you are the more likely too - not impressed as I'm 35. Would be just my luck

Apparently the odds of non-identical twins are 80:1 - so I was told by the mother of a set.

I told the doc that I was having dreadful ms and was surprised it had started so early (4.5 weeks). He said it must be twins apparently it's an old wives tale. Let's hope that's all it is.

NewhereHelp · 12/03/2009 22:08

It's a shame there isn't a possibility of twins calculator

Hi everyone, just came over from another thread, just found out about this one.

yumsta · 13/03/2009 00:20

Had scan - EDD 09/11/09

cant see anything as only 5weeks +3days, going for another scan in 2 weeks...in CAPE TOWN ... leaving in 11 days

dry wretching has offically begun...hope i don't do much of it on driving test tomorrow hahahhaahhaha...

NewhereHelp · 13/03/2009 07:03

Just q quick word of reassurance for those with spotting - when I was pregnant with my eldest DS I had spotting then bleeding in the first 12 weeks. I was signed off work for 4 weeks with 'threatened abortion' (lovely term I know) - however, he is now doing his GCSE's so, whilst it is scary, it doesn't always mean the worst .

Hope that helps, off to catch my train now x

Just came to check in from other thread, and OMG, are there usually this many people on the antenatal threads? There's millions of us!

Koumak · 13/03/2009 10:04

Good morning all and it seems like a lovely one!
Actually warm and almost sunny when I left the house this morning made me feel much better.

I am sorry to hear about the scares some of you have and hope the scans will put your minds at ease!

Congratulations to all the new additions and hello to everybody else on this ever growing list.

How lovely to talk to you all! Just found out that my SIL is pregnant as well, although not from her. My MIL mentioned this to my dh or he guessed? He is just visiting them with my ds as I SIMPLY HAD TO stay behind to work? if you know what I mean. Her EDD is Oct and I think it?s still supposed to be a secret. I hope my secret is safeR for a little while. I made my dh swore or else!
My MIL had so many opinions about my pregnancy last time that I don?t think I could take it again. Like - you can?t be that far along if you can?t feel the baby move yet!?!? And after being overdue - I told you you had your dates wrong!!! Even though I insisted that both my mother and grandma had all their babies at least two weeks late etc.

Have been thinking about this and at least the pressure is off about being overdue and birth etc. BUT there will be so much comparing the two little ones when they will be growing up!

Sorry about the long post. God but did it make me feel better !

Koumak · 13/03/2009 10:05

roomac where did you have your other babies and where are you going to be having this one? I haven?t been in north London long and my son was born in Chelsea & Westminster so its not I can go back there!

lemontop · 13/03/2009 10:09

I had no idea they did maternity wedding dresses! Just hope they come in my size. I'm quite big to start off with.

Got date for 12 week scan!!! April 27th. It's just so far away! What am I going to do till then?

My 'morning sickness' now strikes like clockwork between 5.30pm-6pm. I could set my watch by it. Still just nausea at the moment thank goodness. It's more the tiredness that's getting to me. I'm ready for bed by about 8pm. Very painful boobs as well. Might try wearing a sports bra till I can go and get measured somewhere.

Hope everyone's feeling ok.

cupcakefairy · 13/03/2009 10:49

Hi everyone.
We went for the scan this morning and unfortunately didn't put my mind at rest.. the doctor gave a whole speech about membranes or something looking unusual and said they couldn't see a heartbeat so I have to go again next Friday. I was in tears which I hadn't expected.

On the one hand I am reassured to know I wasn't just imagining being pregnant, but I am also really worried now. She calculated me as 6wks+4 but DH and I know it is really more like 4.5wks from our charting so really really hoping they will be able to see the heartbeat next week.

She said the embryo measures 1.4mm.. it's just a dot but I really want it to be safe

On a different note... I too cried at Deal or No Deal yesterday (the one where the girl won the quarter mill??) and my boobs are definitely getting bigger as they're making it uncomfortable to sleep on my side!
urisgurke if you're concerned about the pain in your side you should ask for a scan. I've had pains in my sides too and thankfully it's not ectopic (although obviously I don't know yet if I'm completely out of the woods.)
