Cies I laughed about your 17 month pregnancy. I don't know when you should first hear the heart beat but six weeks sounds early (that's me!). I can't imagine that! That would make it seem so real.

Sitting here sucking polos like there is no tomorrow.

cupcakefairy · 25/03/2009 12:03

Morning ladies. This week has thankfully gone sooo much quicker than last week, can't believe the scan is tomorrow. Feeling so much more positive now and definitely feel more pregnant. Been so nauseous this week, and everything just feels really tight in my belly..is that how others feel? I am getting twinges but they don't feel like the bad type, just the stretching type.
I am just really excited about the potential of telling my sisters this weekend after we hopefully hear everything is fine!

All these blood tests people are mentioning, I haven't been offered any. Should the EPU have taken my blood to check HCG etc? Haven't heard a peep about that ...will the midwife do it when I see her?

Fruitpastels · 25/03/2009 12:34

Glad to hear you're feeling better this week cupcake. I'm 8 weeks today, I haven't had any blood tests yet either. I have my booking in appointment with the midwife next week. I'm sure they will send me along for blood to be taken as a matter of course. Also, they will be taking blood from me at my nuchal scan as well. My tummy feel a lot tigher (more solid) this week and my skin is starting to dry out. I'm getting my bio-oil on saturday!

katster37 · 25/03/2009 12:45

Glad you're feeling better cupcake and that's great about increase in symptoms.

Hmm well had a blood test but don't know if I need to go and see GP to get results. Nothing's ever really made v clear! They took a lot of blood though!

Feeling really nauseous this morning. Does anyone else feel worse after eating? I feel especially bad when really hungry, but then when I eat I also feel bad.

Fruitpastel amd jealous that you're 8 weeks!! I'm only 5 and a half and it is dragging so so much!! Got my viability scan a week on Tuesday... Am simultaneously terrified and excited.... Good luck to all those with scans today x

Fruitpastels · 25/03/2009 13:00

Hi Katster I don't have a scan until i'm 12+5 that's for my nuchal scan. I'm hoping the midwife will do a scan next week for me.

turtle23 · 25/03/2009 13:00

I feel soooo far behind. I'm only 5 weeks today! So pleased that my hospital does 12 week scans at 11 weeks, though. Only SEVEN weeks to go!

turtle23 · 25/03/2009 13:01

Errr...meant to write six and it came out seven. Durrrrrr...

Cies · 25/03/2009 13:01

Prganancy brain has kicked in already! I so thought I had to go back to the EPU today, but luckily I reread my notes and it's tomorrow, which actually fits in much better with work.

Went the the GP and had the blood test results back. All ok, and I've even had Toxoplasmosis in the past, which means I can't have it again, so don't need to take so many precautions with food/cats, which makes life a bit simpler. Was a bit shocked to see that they ran an HIV and Sifilis test (both neg thank God).

btw, I'm not in UK so the procedures I go through are most probably different to yours. The Spanish health system seems (from my own personal experience) to be more generous with tests and scans that the NHS.

ButtercupWafflehead · 25/03/2009 13:02

BeckyBendylegs All I am eating at the moment is Cheerios! They are an absolute lifesaver as any fruit/veg/dairy makes me feel ILL! It's cereal all the way.

I think that actually being sick is somewhat of a relief, actually. But I suppose it depends how much time off you get before the nausea kicks in again! I'm still really carsick as well, anyone else got this? I am dreading any journeys over 10minutes

Good luck to those with imminent appointments!

hobnob57 · 25/03/2009 13:52

I've got a definite decrease in nausea and sickness

Wondering whether to ring MW ahead of my appointment on Fri.

BeckyBendyLegs · 25/03/2009 14:17

hobnob please don't panic and assume the worst. It is totally normal to fluctuate in how sick you feel day by day. How long have you felt less sick? I'd still ring the midwife though just to see what she says. How many weeks are you?

Joycey29 · 25/03/2009 14:20

I seem to have lost all my sympton s and like most of you are weeks away from tests and scans at only just 5 weeks tomorrow.
Should I test again?

hobnob57 · 25/03/2009 14:21

Joycey I remember feeling that way at 5 weeks, right before MS struck big time at 6 weeks. Hold out if you can

Joycey29 · 25/03/2009 14:25

Had horrible MS with both dd and ds though different times so just don't feel pregnant at the momentas that's all I've ever known.....
I know I should be pleased - I mean holding down lunch is good?? but am not sure if I should be worried at all.

Kyte it's all too easy to google symptoms and start to worry. Glad it's turned out to be nothing.

cupcakefairy Yes, I've seen SATC! So must be fine to go jogging then

hobnob57 Thanks for the advice. I had read about Paula Radcliffe running whilst pregnant. I'm sure she cut down, maybe just a half marathon instead of a full one!

Yesterday, I felt totally back to 'normal' and had a strange amount of excess energy. I think it's important to go with what your body is telling you. Although, like the others on here, whose symptoms have disappeared, I'm a little worried.

Maybe MS will kick in soon. I calculated I'm 6 weeks gone and aside from a twinge in my right ovary when I'm sat in one position for a while and then get up I have no other symptoms or should that be Not sure.

PootleTheFlump · 25/03/2009 17:58

turtle thanks for mentioning that about the nhs desktop thing, was wondering!

sorry to hear you're worried hobknob - hope all is ok.

I had another scan today and have been put back a few days, sigh! But saw a HB and all was well so feel much happier. Saw my GP and am booked with the midwife for a couple of weeks' time (spacing these appts out helps break the time up!) and it is all beginning to feel like it might really happen!

Cies · 25/03/2009 19:26

Nowherehelp Sorry to hear you're in pain. Is there any way you could get to the EPU? I'd have thought with your history the GP would send you over straight away.

NewhereHelp · 25/03/2009 19:36

Me too but apparently not tried to call the epu but doesn't appear to be open

hobnob57 · 25/03/2009 20:03

Sorry becky I missed your message. I'm 7+1. I was REALLY sick this weekend (glued to the sofa sick) and through this week have felt gradually much better. I've still been dog tired and unable to function in the evenings, but the nausea has definitely waned to the point that tonight I'm beginning to feel pretty human again. Even though I only managed half of a small portion of tea, I'm not now feeling ill or in desperate need to make up some calories. I even managed to glug down half a glass of water quickly which would have been impossible before.

Part of me feels like I'm torturing myself, but part of me just 'knows' that something is not at all right. Like I said, I had less MS with my mmc in December, and that one stopped growing at 7+4. I actually phoned the EPU tonight, and they basically said they weren't interested unless I had pain or was bleeding (in the nicest possible way). I could be imagining it, but I'm beginning to feel the peculiar little tugs here and there that were common in my mmc, rather than that nice, full, bulging feeling of my dd's pg.

newherehelp if you're worried please call your midwife unit or NHS24 if the EPU aren't answering. Ectopics shouldn't be 'sat' on!

katster37 · 25/03/2009 20:49

NewHereHelp, I am sorry you're in pain - it seems outrageous that you can't go to an EPU. Could you try NHS direct or even go to A and E if you're really worried?

hobnob57 sorry you are not feeling great. Aren't twinges meant to be your uterus expanding though? Now I am worried as I have quite a few twinges! Can you go to EPU and just say you are in pain, esp with your previous MMC, surely they would give you a scan?

How is everyone else? I managed some tea but sickness coming back. Gross.

cupcakefairy · 25/03/2009 20:56

Hi everyone...I am bored waiting for the apprentice so thought I'd check in yet again!

DH has actually been looking up names online tonight..I know, I know...a bit early but I was enjoying seeing him actually get enthusiastic about it for a moment!

By the way, was going to ask how old people are.if you don't mind saying? I know a few have mentioned their ages but would be interesting to see the spread...
I'm 24

Fruitpastels · 25/03/2009 21:06

I will be 33 when baby is born
