Thanks Dandy - yeah, she was making suggestions for other people like for SPD for one woman and sciatica for another. I think I felt a bit rubbish after because I got the impression that I'm just a bit too hard for her. Which given the context is not good. And I'm a poindexter of a pupil, so not hard to work with. I will get there early next week and speak to her and if all else fails, I don't have to keep going. I've still got time to try other groups and there are plenty about the place. OK now block your ears again Dandy. Febes how did you go about the nipple stimulation?

Fi good luck with the inspection. You've been getting people through, thats a good sign. I finished my cleaning too, now I want a medal. Maybe DP will have brought me some more of that magic decaf...

Polony · 27/02/2009 18:34

oo a bit trigger happy on the asterisks there...

llareggub · 27/02/2009 18:44

Is anyone suffering with a really bad back at the moment? I developed one after mopping through our downstairs earlier this week. Lifting anything is a struggle and I feel like I'm getting quite stiff. Not sure whether to pop to the doctors next week for some advice. Running around after DS today was a real struggle, particularly when he was refusing to leave the park!

I've taken paracetamol and I'm sure I heard somewhere that co-codamol was also fine but scared to try it after the pharmacist said it wasn't OK. I'm sure it was my consultant who said it was fine though. In any case, paracetamol isn't really doing the job.

DH, bless him, has booked us a weekend away to Lacock in March. It is going to be an early anniversary break as we celebrate 5 years in early July, but I know I won't be up to leaving a newborn overnight by then. So we've booked DS into the grandparents. I can't wait, I've always wanted to explore Lacock ever since we drove through by accident and thought we'd been transported back in time!

ladyhelen2 · 27/02/2009 18:59

Evening. I cannot keep up with this thread! It moves so fast and its taken ages to catch up with everything.

I'm not on "The List" yet - prob cos I'm an infrequent poster but could someone who knows how to do these things add me please?

New one - surprise!

Ta ever so!

llareggub back pain. Talk to me about it! Have been in agony for 2 days having had what I assumed was sciatica off and on since about week 16. Its like I just seize up and I struggle bending down at all times. I don't normally suffer. So unless it gets any worse, shall take paracetemol and fingers crossed it will go away once baby arrives.

DS has just put his comic relief red nose on. He looks so cute. I must get round to doing a profile at some point with pics.

Have quite a lot to post. Qs re BF but I won't make this too long a post. Will be back later!

FiKelly · 27/02/2009 19:13

fikelly great link! Actually, this was very nearly me last week. DS and I were doing the weekly shop and he was sat in the trolley seat. Half way round he lifted up my top and shouted "boob, want boob milk now mummy" much to my shame. I didn't give in though, just left the frozen food aisle for another day.

FiKelly · 27/02/2009 20:07

llareggub I had a really painfull twangy back about a month ago... I would suddenly have a day (intermittently) when I got sharp shooting pains... sciatica like ones and aching the rest of the time. I spoke to my mw and she said if it was constant (day in day out) to let her know and she would refer me to get it checked out... but she said there was a good chance it was just the baby's position pressing against nerves in my back and it could well go on its own. It did go all of a sudden and i've had no back probs since... so looks like it was LO's position...

Ladyhelen Apparently a lot of the time pelvic girdle pain is confused with sciatica in pregnancy. Sounds to me like you have got PGP too. With me it sort of varies between pain in my pubic bone to a sciatica like pain in my lower back/buttocks.

fi I read that thread too. I bet she was embarrased.

My dcs seem to have completely forgotten about the car. DH came home while they were upstairs and they haven't mentioned it since. I think I've managed to dodge that one.

Gotta go and take dh to the pub for one of his friends b'day celebrations.

ladyhelen2 · 27/02/2009 20:18

Yes lower back/buttocks is where its at. It must be PGP. But christ its painful. I end up walking like an old woman at times.

bantam73 · 27/02/2009 20:28

Hi everyone

I've been reading but not had anything to say lately.
We had a extra scan today cos MW was concerned about how big we were getting. Anyway there is no problem with it's size it weight is about 3lb 8oz which is fine for 31wks but we've lost some of our waters so we have to go back next week to keep check if any more goes.
I'll learn more my MW on monday.

llareggub · 27/02/2009 20:38

Belgian that must be what I've got too. Is there anything that can be done? I hurt!

FiKelly · 27/02/2009 20:44

ladyhelen have added you to the list and had a go at updating our wks too at the same time... started from me and worked my up and down the list accordingly. Hope i've not made mistakes... if i have sorry

well done on the list fikelly

LoobyLou36 · 27/02/2009 20:57

well my trip to tesco was fairly successful.
Managed to get tommee tippee bottles/breast pump at half price but they were out of stock on the steriliser
got some more muslin squares too as they were on offer

Now sat with my DH watching the rugby and trying to decide if I really need to open the box of lily o'brien chocs I bought earlier

Polony · 27/02/2009 21:05

Yikes Fi thats a hot thread. I ain't going near that one.

I hope everyone's back pains go away. Llareggub that sounds horrendous, hope you can take something for it. It must be exhausting.

LoobyLou36 · 27/02/2009 21:18

Oh dear DH not happy - Wales are losing.

Promised to meet friends in town after the rugby - I must be mad I'm usually ready for bed at 10, still it'll be nice to see my friends - we don't meet up very often.

I can always have a lie-in tommorrow, that's if LO lets me, he/she has been very active today.

LoobyLou36 · 27/02/2009 21:24

I too am suffering from lower back pain which has spread to my legs at times - I am assuming the baby is lying on nerves. The joys of being pg - mind you I wouldn't swop it for anything

I am starting to get quite excited at the thought that is 9ish weeks I get to meet LO , altho the actual thought of the birth is still giving me the willies

Febes · 27/02/2009 21:31

Polony- RE: nipple stimulation. I just tried to mimic a baby sucking so massaging the area around the nipple. Just like if you are trying to hand express. Its a bit aof a grope fest but you do way worse stuff with the perinum massage .

FiKelly · 27/02/2009 21:31

LoobyLou36 we've the rugby on too... dh is getting really vocal! He's a scot so trying to think how he'll be when scotland play tomorrow if he's like this with wales/france?!

Some of the bf thread link had me hooting with laughter and other bits made me ... def not brave enough to post on it at all though!

DH did me proud and came home with solid dairy milk chocolate... still to stuffed from chinese take away for tea to have any just yet but might just have a wafer thin piece with my bedtime milk

Okay I've opened the chocs - yummy!

My DH is so loud Fikelly I'll be glad when the game is over.

Belgianchocolates · 27/02/2009 21:40

llare if it's pgp, then there's not all that much you can do except for getting yourself a referal to a physio to get a support belt and back excersises. I'm really suffering with it today. Don't really know why, because I haven't done all that much. I'm shuffling like an old lady too. I have noticed posture makes a huge difference, but it's so difficult to sit upright with my legs & knees at right angles all the time. Sometimes you just want to lean back and even all the cushions in the house don't seem to be enough + I keep leaning to the one side because baby's bum/head is stuck underneath my ribs. It's also important to concentrate on keeping your back and shoulders straight, but I can't seem to be able to walk without sticking my bump out, because of the difficulty lifting my legs. I might get back to the physio if it does keep getting worse like it is.
Paracetamol is all they'll give you over the counter, because co-codamol is not licenced for pregnancy, even though it's commonly used in hospital. You'll have to get your GP to prescribe it for you if paracetamol isn't strong enough for you.

LoobyLou36 · 27/02/2009 21:44

oh shit - wales lost.

Off out now - night ladies

llareggub · 27/02/2009 21:49

Thanks Belgian I might pop up to see the doctor next week. It takes weeks and weeks to get an appointment with the CMW.

Loobey I've been watching the rugby too, and have been strangely attracted to this chap. I think it must be the hormones!

Momino · 27/02/2009 21:53

evening ladies.
Just saw rugby as well. poor Wales.
And just saw the list - am I really 31 weeks? where has the time gone? i'm getting scared..... i want my mom (said in a tiny voice).

polony, am in York. this must be the weekend for NCT NNsales. Im almost done labelling. getting rid of a lot of unworn pink things that were gifts but just too... pink.

hope all are well tonight and backs are feeling less sore soon. I can't find a comfortable chair (where's that exercise ball?).
