Hope no-one minds me kicking this one off - 39 pages seemed a bit unmanageable!

Had 20 week scan today. Tiddler unco-operative to start with (although not as bad as DD was - took 3 goes to see everything) and it looks like most of the bits are in the right places. Decided right at the very last minute not to find out the sex. Realised that, if DD thinks she's going to have a sister, that nothing, not even photographic evidence, will change her mind anyway. So stuck with the 'don't ask don't tell' as per first time around and will just have to wait to sort out all the sodding clothes 'til we know what we've got.

Although... What do gonads look like on a scan?! Got a very good look at the hips from underneath, so to speak, and thought I saw two little bright spots, but that could be the sitting bones of course. Anyone tell me what the crown jewels look like on a scan?!

Welcome and congrats alibobble, we're due on the same day

The big thing that kept me awake last time was really bad cramp in my calf. Touch wood i haven't had any yet but not looking forward to it if it's as bad as during my last pg. Dh is really not looking forward to getting out of bed to rub my legs/hold my toes back at 3am

Our bathroom and toilet is on the ground floor so, although it's handy during the day, is a pain getting up to go in the night so last time i put our camping portaloo in our bedroom as i started going more often

I can't help myself i've bought 3 sleepsuits, 3 vests and an outfit all in blue. I also got some boy's dummies

I've been feeling the baby kicking for a few days now too. Feel so much better been able to feel it

PatchyBob i didn't realise we were due date buddies until you said earlier that you are 20wks tomorrow.

I'll be using the same infant carrier that i had for ds (that i got off ebay for £5) but after a while we're gonna buy one of those Britax seats that can go rear facing and forward facing. We had to get one for ds because he was starting to look really squashed up in the infant carrier but too young to go forward facing. Unfortunately we didn't keep it so will need to buy a new one.

xxhunnyxx · 26/02/2009 17:21

This may sound like a daft question but does anybody know when baby goes from lying horizontally to lying vertically IYKWIM?

I know it doesnt really matter but I think baby is maybe running out of room in there cos he's not been as active over the last week or so and on the scan he looked very very cramped!

alibobble · 26/02/2009 19:05

xxhunnyxx When they were looking at the head for my scan bump was head down at the moment anyway so I guess it could be any time. Dunno.

Pheonix Been able to feel bump moving from really early this time but starting to feel like a punch bag already. this one measured longer than DD at 20 wk scan (she has hilariously short legs like DH) so maybe there's less room for all that leg now!

dannyg · 26/02/2009 19:13

Hiya all SPD seems to have eased a bit, 20 weeks yesterday only 7 days till scan Yippee cant wait to find out sex. Baby's been really active over last few days DP felt it last night too. Cant believe I'm have way now, The name debate for me will start after scan, hope we can find a name this time, me & Dp only shared a like for Ds 2 name Dylan & first Ds name Jack. Glad all your 20 week scans have gone well x x

EvieBear · 26/02/2009 19:25

hi all,

welcome to ali!

i'm sitting here eating my dinner all alone again... my DP is doing an MBA at the moment so i'm spending tonnes of time alone it better be worth it in the end

hunny- what pram did you buy again? i remember seeing ou on pram threads before... i think you mentioned the quinny buzz. i really like it but want to know what it's like for buses? i need a pram that's good for getting on buses.

can't stop looking at my scan pics from monday, so cute!

mickeylou · 26/02/2009 19:32

Phoenix - i had awful cramp in my legs too. not had it again yet. hope it stays away!

my lower back is killing me - i never had this last time. i am whinging about it constantly and am sick of hearing myself!oh and i threw up at work again today!

DH still wont condsider finding out the sex. my gut tells me its another boy this time tho - i'm thinking Harry or Toby at the mo.

mickeylou · 26/02/2009 19:35

Hi EvieBear - i was looking at a Quinny Speedy. i have a Quinny Zap buggy for DS at the mo and its really good for folding up small to get on the bus.

Patchybob · 26/02/2009 20:20

Hi everyone

I saw the midwife today who says its another big baby (abit early to be saying that isn't it!!!) I measure 22 weeks and am 20 tomorrow so given that and the fact that my other 2 were big she says chances are that this one is too. Ouch!!

BonzoDoodah When she bought down all the bits she didn't bring the car seat, so I haven't seen the damage! Think she is embarrased that it is a mess as she is quite anal!! I think I would be quite happy with a cover on it but dont want to appear tight!!

Phoenix and alibobble wow 3 of us now on the 17th...who will be first!!! It won't be me thats for sure as I always end up being induced (although this time will do everything in my power not to be!!!) Both my dc were back to back and the midwife says that this stops you going into labour naturally as there is no pressure on the cervix...if I can sort the position I will hopefully avoid being induced and have an easier labour (last 2 34 hours and 24 hours!!)

DS gone to bed clutching a sick bowl so I may be in for a night of vomit! Hoorah!

Phoenix · 26/02/2009 20:24

Patchy - How big were your other babies? Ds was 9lb2oz but this one is measuring average according to scan yesterday but the sonographer did say that babies don't always get big til after 25wks. Ds was back to back too and it resulted in a c-section for me.

xxhunnyxx · 26/02/2009 20:58

eviebear I've ordered an Icandy Apple, dunno wot it would be like on a bus tho, the frame is actually quite heavy but the Icandy Cherry is really light. Both have really good reviews, there used to be probs with the Cherry but they've been fixed now.

I've got a bit of a pram dilema now tho, we ordered the Icandy Apple a few weeks ago and today BF went to visit his brother and they've offered us loads of stuff incuding a pram which BF said is a really good one, apparently cost them £800 so I assume it's a Bugaboo. But we've already put a deposit down on the Apple and I've got my heart set on it and TBH I don't actually like Bugaboos very much. Am I stupid to turn it down tho? Also don't wanna sound ungrateful. Was thinking we could just accept everything else and still buy our pram so then we're still saving a lot of money.

patchybob hope DS is ok xxx

Oh i didn't update u on my birthday meal! well before I even had chance to broach the subject of his drinking etc he said to me ''I think I've got some serious growing up to do haven't I?...I can't carry on like this! I've been doing it for long enough now and I don't even enjoy it anymore'' I was shocked but delighted! It's like he just read my mind! )

EvieBear · 26/02/2009 21:27

hunny if you've ordered the icandy apple and like it then i'd stick with it, i actually don't like the bugaboo either and there are so many around! the icandy apple is gorgeous, just a bit heavy for me i think... we live in a flat with about 5 steps up to our flat so i need something light. gee it's so hard to find one to suit all your needs isn't it?? there's always one downside!

mickeylou the zapp looks good alright, and the speedi is nice too, you can put the dreami carrycot on it which is nice as i'd love to have a carrycot for the first few months.

hmmm will carry on researching..!

thanks for your help!

xxhunnyxx · 26/02/2009 21:42

eviebear have u looked at the Icandy Cherry? It really is very very light, I actually prefer it to the apple in some respects but decided to go for the apple as it seemed to suit me a bit better. The world of prams is certainly a confusing one isn't it?!
Also check out the review section on here, I found it really helpful x

EvieBear · 26/02/2009 21:52

hunny i'm looking at it now, it is actually very nice!! thanks for the tip, will have to get to a shop to try it out, and you can put a carrycot on it too! thanks x

xxhunny glad you had a nice time and your OH sems to be coming to his senses - long may it last
activityapple your last post had me laughing - I always have long lists of criteria but the making a cuppa one is great - In fact if you could invent it you would make a fortune!

I am feeling decidedly lovely at the mo and my Dcs are being equally gorgeous so making the most of a good few days! (and making mental notes for when it gets bad again)

On the downside I am starting to potty train DS tomorrow. He sat on the sofa tonight pointed at his nappy and said Poo mummy then proceeded to fart followed by a giggle -how like his father

Phoenix · 27/02/2009 09:34

Oh my god QueenFee, i've just got ds to wear pants today. I ran out of nappies yesterday (well nappies that he can see, i've got a pack hidden away ) and we told him he was going to wear pants and wee/poo on the potty today. So far the pants have been on for half an hour but no wees yet. Good luck to you and ds. Ds was 3 2wks ago how old is yours?

We got a 3 wheel Urban detour for ds. It's quite heavy and big so we ended up buying a Maclaren Quest once he was over 3mth old and mostly used that and kept the 3 wheeler in the car and just used it occasionally. Once he was a year old we put the 3 wheeler away and only used the Quest. We are planning on using the 3 wheeler this time for a while but we have also got a Maclaren Techno XT that can be used from birth.

Beccabump · 27/02/2009 11:03

Hello ladies

Well after asking about my cough on here I ended up at the docs as it got much worse and I just couldn't breathe

Turns out my childhood asthma is now back and out of control!! My lungs are only functioning at something like 60% so no wonder I have felt poorly! I picked up a ventolin inhaler yesterday but I have to go back today as it is not controlling it as much as they would like so it looks like I will be on a steroid inhaler too. luckily I have been able to get in with the practice asthma nurse practitioner so should be in good hands.

Can't believe I am 20 weeks now, this pregnancy is flying by :S

xxx

Patchybob · 27/02/2009 13:25

Beccabump hope you are feeling better and that the inhaler is working. My asthma got worse and with the chest infection was awful, they say it can get worse when you are pregnant

christina I agree with you on the pram front. Where we live we need a 3 wheeler (infact thats all I had with the other 2, it lay flat and was great....sold that too!!) I will def buy another one and just use the donated quinny in town.

xxhunnyxx ds fine today thanks. He didn't eat any lunch at school yesterday as he wanted to go out to play and then played an hour of football after school so I think his blood sugar was very low and thats why he felt rubbish. By the time it came to tea he felt so bad that he couldn't eat that either. I gave him boiled egg and soilders for breakfast and he was fine. Bless him

Phoenix My other two were 9lb (I'm quite small) I will be interested to see what they say at my scan next week re size as I do think its early to be telling me its big!!! Maybe its going to be huge!!? Oh dear! Are you having another c section? They have given me the option which is good but I am swaying towards a natural delivery. Both the consultant and midwife say that with the right help I will be able to get this one in the right position and then it should be fine (they would say that though wouldn't they!!)

I had a great morning, met a friend for coffee and 3hrs later we were still gossiping!! Bliss!

Have a great weekend everyone xx

QueenFee · 27/02/2009 13:50

Ive been using a Urban detour 3 wheeler for 4 and a half years now! I love it but likewise I did buy a cheap umbrella fold stroller to keep in the boot of the car for quick shopping trips. I was lucky it turned out to be the perfect buggy for me!

pheonix Hes only 2 1/2 so not holding my breath. Thought I would start this afternoon when I get home from school which gives me 2 1/2 days before I have to go out to get the message through. I am not bothered too much if he dosn't master it yet (DD was 3) but I would rather do it now than when I have a newborn or worse a crawler round the place!

Misspaella · 27/02/2009 14:43

Hey everyone
Just had 2nd scan and all is good. We didn't find out what the sex was but it is a very active little one! The baby's measuremens are 10 days out (taking me to 27 June instead of 7 July) but I know that can't be right as I know what week I conceived. I reckon the baby will even out (I hope!) My dc's have all been decent avg sizes (DS 7lbs 13 oz, DD 7lbs 6 oz) BUT they have both been a week early.............watch this space I guess.

Beccabump my asthma got worse when pg with DS, was normal with DD and has gotten worse again with this pg. I was lectured by the dr to use my steroid inhaler twice a day and to not forget. Whatever you do, just have your inhalers around you.

Queenfee good luck potty training. I have to admit it it probably the one parenting thing I really did not like. DS was 2y 8m when we did it. It took sitting in for a whole 3 days. DD (only 20m) has started telling us when she has done a poo and sits on the potty. I may try in the early summer if she keeps giving us the signs before DC3 is born.

Anyways everyone bye for now.

Phoenix · 27/02/2009 15:10

Patchybob - At booking in my mw said you do know you won't automatically get a c-section because you had one before. The consultant at the hospital didn't focus on it much but she did say they would keep an eye on the size of the baby. I did say that i would like to avoid a c-section unless i really need one but i sometimes lean towards an elective then think about the recovery with a newborn and a 3yr old. I'm seeing the consultant again near end of June.

QueenFee - Ds was 3 2wks ago and always says he's a baby and will wear nappies forever. Bribery and sticker charts have never worked. But most of yesterday we were counting down his nappies saying only 2 nappies left etc. and he would have to wear pants today and he agreed . He's doing quite well actually, even done 2 poos in the potty. He's had 2 or 3 dribbly accidents but i'm so proud of him.

for asthma. I normally get asthma in the summer brought on by hayfever.

Hi guys

I'm planning on going to Chester Zoo then Cheshire Oakes tomorrow. I feel as I haven't done anything with DD and DP apart from moan about being ill so fingers crossed my back will hold up and I'll enjoy it! Might end up buying something yet for baby from Cheshire Oakes, I may not be able to resist. Starting to feel a little bit better now but still not right yet.

I'll let u knwo if I make it to the zoo.

Love to all x
