Mine faded, then I had 3-4 days of HELL! I'd not actually thrown up until week 12, then all of a sudden I coldn't keep anything down.

I told myself if was just the placenta getting into the swing of things, and now at 14+ summat I'm starting to feel better than I have all the way through. Except, obviously, when I'm hungry... like now!

Postitive thinking! Good luck.

hunnybunnyaug09 · 17/02/2009 11:41

Hello Everyone!

New to this and would love to join you all. Due 8/8/09 and it's my first, so am happy and scared at the same time

Am 15 and a bit weeks now, but not showing yet... is this normal???

valz · 17/02/2009 12:41

hawkmoth i had it since about week 6 constant up til about week 12, thats when i thought it was startin to ease off except for the odd sick feeling. im feeling a bit better now, ate a few handfuls of grapes which did nothing for the hunger so im eating toast and banana now, me belly still seems to rumble even as i eat, its ridiculous. thanks for the reply.

hunny im in same boat, this is my first im happy, not scared at mo but when i read about labour i crap meself even though its a long way off yet...still id rather know whats to come. im 14+2 with twins and im not showing either, well sometimes i think i am but my husband says its my imagination, i feel my stomach quite hard though were the sticky out bit used to be soft ive been googling to see when i would start to show, seemly everyones different and with your first pregnancy you dont show as early as someone who alrady had a baby, seems to be about 4-5 months. the strength of your stomach muscles seems to have something to do with it as well. yesterday i was looking at photos on google of ladies at 36 weeks pregnant, that scared me big time, i cant imagine getting that big, it looks extremely uncomfortable, im hoping these twins get to a safe weight then arrive. keep in touch, hope you are well

cairns · 17/02/2009 14:26

hawkmoth - my sickness lasted from about 6 wks to 15 wks. It has only just gone, although I do still feel queasy if I haven't eaten anything (but I have always been like that pregnant or not). With DS I think it was the same 6 wks to around 15-16wks. A bit longer than the 1st trimester but it did pass. It seemed to hit its peak around 12-13wks if I can remember with a few v bad days

LittleFairySmile · 17/02/2009 14:35

Hey all, so many people feeling ill and having a hard time, I?m thinking of you all!

I am feeling better, less sick, but so tired still!

Nellyup if you only have to buy the small sized nappies, you will save heaps on using disposables, which I guess is your other route. And there are some lovely nappies out there too. I?m a nappy agent, and even the most expensive cloth nappies (with a sensible washing and drying routine) work out heaps cheaper than disposables!

Plus cloth is so much nicer than plastic, paper and desiccating chemicals! I certainly wouldn?t wear paper knickers (and those disposable maternity ones are awful so I?ll just be getting cheap supermarket cotton ones for after baby arrives this time! They are a comparable price, but much nicer!!)

I have far too many soapboxes!

Oh, and Blooming Marvellous are in administration and not giving refunds for any reason! Be careful with what you buy there!

nuttygirl · 17/02/2009 14:43

Hawkmoth - I had sickness until just over 16 weeks last time. This time it eased off a bit earlier.

Nellyup - as LFS says you'll still save money by getting cloth. Remember you can sell them on afterwards to recoup some of the cost and you could buy them used which would make them cheaper.

If you, or anyone else, want to buy them I do sell a few brands and can do you a deal

olivo · 17/02/2009 15:11

hello everyone, sorry to hear others are still feeling sick. me too if its any consolation. with dd it stopped around 17 weeks, but this time, i've actually vomitted a lot more. I'm worse at night and if i don't get the chance to eat. this week i am off work though and am eating all sorts of crap - must start trying to be healthier but carbs are all i want!

reusable nappy people, which make/s do yuo recommend? I intended to with dd but just never did, but i'd be quite keen this time, seeing how much rubbish they created.

3 days till my scan......

nuttygirl · 17/02/2009 15:15

Olivo - what I recommend tends to depend n people's circumstances. e.g. if you have a tumble drier or plenty or drying space then bamboo is great. If you're in a flat and struggle to get stuff dry then microfibre or cotton is much quicker to dry. Similarly some people prefer to go for pocket nappies cos their dh's aren't sure about cloth and they look/work more like a disposable than a 2-part system. If you want email me ([email protected]) and I'll look at your circumstances etc.

2HotCrossBunsAnd1InTheOven · 17/02/2009 15:48

Just quickly as I am at work - I have a small pack of cloth nappies (One Life) which includes 5 nappies, liners, pants in a small size (and I have an unopened pack of larger pize pants) all in a matching cloth case. Only 3 of the nappies were used as DS1 was a tiny 6lb7 at birth and we just never got into a routine of using the cloth nappies .

I keep meaning to get round to selling it but never do. Anyone interested?

ScummyMummy · 17/02/2009 18:23

valz- I'm afraid twin pregnancies are notorious for mums feeling more sick and for longer... I was v pleasantly surprised at how much less sick I have been this time around with just the one. Still vomited every now and then but not nearly as often and it had more or less stopped by 11 weeks (unless my partner farted- bleuur!). With my twins I was sick till at least 16 weeks.

Hope everyone feeling sick will feel better soon.

BabyBump2B · 17/02/2009 19:34

I've only stopped feeling sick at 15 weeks (and now its replaced with the headaches!)

Nuttygirl - I'm thinking of going with the Bumgenius all in one cloth diapers - what do you think of them?

Hunny & Valz - I'm the opposite in that its my first pg and I'm seriously showing. I def look about 5 months pg when I'm not even 4 months! I can't imagine how giant I'm going to be towards the end if I'm this big now!

TaleofTwoCities · 17/02/2009 20:11

hello everyone, bleugh I'm still feeling a bit sick too at 15+5 can't believe it. Feel really bloated by the end of the day and woke up last night at 4.15 feeling restless and sick. Blooming I am not!

Babybump2B, I feel a bit massive too. I'm used to being petite in pregnancy, last time got referred for being small for dates. This time I feel like my whole tummy is sticking out already and my belly button has done that flip inside out thing. I think I've been eating too much!! Mind you, I look much smaller in the morning, so maybe its the bloated feeling doing it!

Feeling really bad for my friend doing IVF, her attempt hasn't worked. We're not seeing each other in the near future so have yet to tell her my news, hope I'm doing the right thing.

Glad so many are planning on cloth nappies! We're nearly 4 years into it. DD at 2.3 is starting to ask for the disposables that she wears at night during the day (sigh). How come she has decided there is a hierarchy of desirability when it comes to nappies, I don't know?! I do find cloth a bit more of a struggle with a 2+ yr old on the verge of potty training, but it's so much nicer than throwing away all those scented nappy sacks. my favourites are my 2nd hand plain old shaped Tots Bots pinned in place with a nappy nippa. Might get some more if they still do them. We also have the old fashioned prefolds though and some motherease onesize that I've never likes much.

nuttygirl · 17/02/2009 20:50

BB2B - Some people swear by Bumgenius and generally people find them absorbant enough. Personally I found they weren't a good fit on dd (she's very skinny) and didn't get on with pockets in general. The pockets I found worked best on dd are the Wonderoos but I've only recently tried them so not sure what they'd have been like as a baby. You'll find that with one size nappies they tend to be quite bulky on a newborn, not a problem for some people but with dd being so skinny we couldn't get a good fit. I would say don't go out and buy loads of them as you don't know how well they'll fit. I'd buy a selection (maybe 2nd hand to keep the cost down) and when you've figured out which fit best then buy more of those.

TO2C - I hated the Motherease onesize too. Found the Sandys great though - they were our workhorse nappies!

Got a phonecall from my IM today and they're doing the first proper appointment tomorrow. Am hoping to hear baby's heartbeat!

Hi everyone so many people on here now, its getting v hard to keep up.

Scummy , hope there is some good news on your FIL

Hiya Heinz , thought for a mo u had disapeared! lol! sorry to hear u had one of "those" dreams. I haven't had any about the baby yet but I do have them about my other children - its the worst.

Valz If it decreases your worry in any way I can honestly say that I am not remotely worried about the birth - and this is number 4 - I love being pregnant, but I can honestly say I am looking forward to the birth. It does not hold any fear for me. Did you read any of the lovely birth stories that were posted on the last thread? I will go back and see if I can get them and repost them on here.

As for sickness mine had gone for about a week and all of a sudden its back with a vengence. I am trying to see it a a positive as by this time in my previous 3 pregs I had put on about a stone this time I've lost 2lbs!! ( shame I was still 2 stone overweight to start with really)

Have just found out you can order Spatone direct from their website - I think its spatone.com so that may help if you can't get it locally.

Hope everyone who is feeling yucky still starts to feel better soon...

KKQ xx

Hi there Found It!!!!

Originally posted by Nuttygirl - I never got round to mentioning it b4 but thankyou - spent ages reading the birth stories, particularly liked the one about the lady who had her baby alone at home and popped down to the library afterwards to show her dp the new baby - how amazing is she?????

Hope u don't mind me putting this back on Nuttygirl

HunnyBunnyAug09 · 18/02/2009 09:48

Hi Valz & BabyBump2B
Thanks for your advice, I guess everyone is different BUT I'd love to have a beautiful big bump! I'll just have to wait for a bit longer...

Valz - Hope you are feeling better now and are able to eat more foods. This goes for anyone out there who is feeling sick...

Thanks for putting me on your list KKQ

I'm gonna have a look at some of those birth stories now.

xxx

HeinzSight · 18/02/2009 13:19

Afternoon, all, we're enjoying half term here.

nuttygirl I've sent you an email, I've never usual cloth nappies before despite having 3 kiddies already , so need info!!!!

How's your back kitkatqueen? Are you starting to feel better in yourself too? I'm getting there, I do remember starting to feel better at this stage last time, fingers crossed it may continue!

OP posts:
nuttygirl · 18/02/2009 13:35

Heinz - have sent you a HUGE email

My bump was huge really early last time but seemed to slow in the 2nd trimester and was normal throughout the 3rd trimester. This time I think it's growing slower but more steadily iyswim.

Am stuck in all afternoon. Mw was meant to be coming at 2 but her daughter has been kicked by a horse so she's in A&E having x-rays and will come when she's done.

In typical fashion the one day I have someone coming round, dd has tipped her entire beaker of water over the sofa!

kitkatqueen · 18/02/2009 13:40

Hi Heinz, Amazingly my back is actually pretty good. Hopefully only one more trip to the osteopath next week. Am not enjoying the half term too much tho' I am not used to dp not being here - we normally spend a lot of time together - before I stopped working to look after the children we worked together every single day, since I stopped working I literally miss him from the moment he leaves in the morning until he walks in the door that night. I haven't seen him or spoken to him ( mobile dead zone) since sunday night and last night my nearly 5 yr old and my 3 yr old stayed at nannies for a sleep over. So I only had the 13mnth old here. Am I a totally sad case for feeling so lonely?

Think i'm just going to go and slap myself and get on with some housework

nuttygirl · 18/02/2009 13:42

KKQ - no, not a sad case at all. I miss dh when he can't come home for lunch .

kitkatqueen · 18/02/2009 13:46

Thanks nuttygirl- still feel tho

kitkatqueen · 18/02/2009 13:48

Hope u didn't mind me reposting the birth stories btw - they were so lovely.

nuttygirl · 18/02/2009 13:51

not at all

kitkatqueen · 18/02/2009 13:53

Hi Hunnybunny You are welcome, but its not really my list - my secret is out i'm just terribly pedantic about things like lists being up to date so I keep sticking people on . Hope u like the birth stories brought a tear to my eye ( not that difficult these days - whirling bucket of hormones!) so lovely. Lots of ideas for different ways of doing it too.
