Congratulations Mamamila

ameNbump - of course you can get pregnancy sickness at anytime of day & night. I know it's often called morning sickness but not everyone just gets it in the morning. What a stupid boss . www.netdoctor.co.uk/health_advice/facts/pregnantnausea.htm www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/besttreatments/morning-sickness-summary www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/23068976/ print these out for her.

ameNbump · 09/04/2009 10:37

Thanks Crafty I am still in complete shock at the way she spoke to me. She really was cross!! Just had an email from a colleague saying that she seems to have been on a bit of a rampage over the last few days, & has upset a lot of people. She is a terribly difficult woman, so I'll try not to take it too personally (easier said than done when you're hormonal & feel like crap already!)

I have the three words "4day weekend" running through my head like a mantra...CAN'T WAIT!!

6hours til home time, & 8 more sleeps til my scan!!

xxx

quixotic · 09/04/2009 10:48

Hello all - hope everyone is feeling well and looking forward to the long weekend. I had my 20 week scan (at 21 weeks today), the baby is healthy and is a GIRL - hurray, so excited. They did say she is big for her dates, I made my due date 29th July and they say 20th August, but will not move the due date. I suppose I just have to be prepared she might come a bit earlier. Do they not move the date after that first scan? Happy Easter!

kitkatqueen · 09/04/2009 11:49

Hi Amenbump, crafty got there before me!! LOL I found another one to print and wave at your boss!!
grrrr at her!! Hope u r ok!

www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/sleep/nausea/

Quixotic Congrats on scan and baby girl. I have my scan this pm and for the 1st time I am really worried that the baby won't be ok, I think I am just worrying because I am taking the girls with me and I know they will be really upset if there is something wrong, they can't wait to see their little brother / sister they don't care which...

Getting lots of wiggle kicks tho so bubs should be ok!?!

kitkatqueen · 09/04/2009 11:55

www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=397882

This one is from another chat forum about night vomiting in pregnancy - looks pretty common actually!

ameNbump · 09/04/2009 12:12

Thank you ladies.

I have duly printed all information (on the works printer of course). It does seem more common than i realised. It's not my fault if she's "never heard anything so ridiculous" . She has obviously had a very sheltered life...I hear about things more ridiculous than pregnancy related sickness on a daily basis!

quitoxic Congrats on your baby girl...Lovely news!!

kitkat Good Luck with your scan, I'm sure it'll be fine. Let us know. Are you finding out the sex? I wasn't going to, but I am so convinced it's a girl that I'll be unbelievably shocked if it comes out with a penis... 4.5 months to get used to it may be for the best!! Hehe!

xx

kitkatqueen · 09/04/2009 12:30

Hoping to find out - I've found out with all of mine and the thought of not knowing is actually a bit scary! LOL And ur right. with no 1 I was convinced was a boy, scan said girl and I was almost in shock for a couple of days, but 20 weeks is plenty of time to get used to it and i was so looking forward to seeing my little girl at 40 weeks!

Been getting girl vibes too so I could be in for a shock at 4pm! My ds had an enormous v obvious willy on the scan ( prompting shouts of "thats my boy" from dp)so hopefully it will be clear and no crossed legs!!

still stupidly nervous!

becksydee · 09/04/2009 12:43

ame - if anything my nausea/sickness was worse at night, in the end i started keeping a bowl at the end of the bed because i couldn't be bothered to keep getting out of bed! at your boss. can you take someone supportive to the meeting with you on wednesday? union rep?

mamamila - congrats, all sounds very lovely and romantic

oonagh - fab news about your cat

may - i hadn't heard about the drain covers thing, how ridiculous! someone my DP knows through his work was arrested under terrorism legislation a few months ago for taking wedding photos in canary wharf just about every photographer who's ever been harassed / beaten up by the police has been phoning or e-mailing over the past week to offer support and kind words, which has helped us both feel a bit better.

an update from me - went for my scan on tuesday, had to wait nearly an hour to be seen but ho hum. everything seems to be fine, apart from the measurement of one of the ventricles in the brain which is at the upper end of the normal range, so the sonographer wants me back in 2 weeks for an internal scan (ouch) which will also check the neck of my cervix apparently. he said the measurement might just be because i was seeing them at 19+6 instead of 20+whatever and seemed fairly confident that it was no big deal, so i've decided i'm going to be relaxed about it too. no, really!

on previous scans the baby was measuring a quite small (so much so that they were considering revising the due date) but it seems to have caught up a bit now, probably because i've been able to keep more food down. and it has a really big head hoping that's just a random head-growth spurt that slows down over the next 20 weeks so i've not got to give birth to a baby with a massive head! got some fab photos including one of the baby giving us a wave and another of it sucking its thumb, aww. we decided not to find out the sex, so all they told us what that it's "normal", which is good to know

also managed to get a referral to a physio sorted for the SPD! i was having a whinge to the receptionist about my crap GP and was overheard by one of the doctors who said she would write me a referral there and then - amazing! she saw me & DP waiting by the lift a few mins later and told us to stay there, and went and fetched the fax confirmation sheet and a copy of the referral to show it had gone through. i've been feeling so disheartened by the general incompetence i've encountered so far that i could have hugged the lovely efficient woman! not sure how long it'll take for an appointment to come through, but at least the wheels are in motion now.

is anyone else planning on using reusable nappies by the way? or has used them before? i got my tailored advice e-mail back one of thenappylady advisors and just trying to get my head round the whole thing. would be interested to hear any tips anyone may have

LittleFairySmile · 09/04/2009 14:56

We used cloth nappies with DS and will with this one. My email is dappernappies at yahoo dot co dot uk if you want to chat about the advice you've been given!

Been wearing support belt this morning, but it keep slipping down, so not helpful. Perhaps my bump isn't big enough yet! Back really aches!

BabyBump2B · 09/04/2009 17:07

mamamila - Congratulations! Sounds incredibly romantic and SO thoughtful!

Congrats to everyone on their scans too. I've got my 3D one later today so fingers crossed we can tell the gender!

Beckysdee - We're using reusable diapers. Picked up our Bum Genius ones last weekend!

Will check back in after the scan!

craftynclothy · 09/04/2009 17:22

Becksydee - I used reusables on dd and will be using them on this baby too. I also sell them so if you're looking for any particular types or want anymore advice (or an explanation of the advice you've got - sounds v confusing at first) let me know. My posting name is my website and there's a Contact page on it if you want to email. There's also 10% off your first order if you enter CLOTHY at checkout.

Oh btw if anyone wants the chance to win a special Mama Pack (basically an ethical alternative to the Bounty pack) with loads of goodies in, all you have to do is sign up to my newsletter and email me with your fave product on my site. There's other wahm shops doing it too so you can gain more entries into the comp. Totally free.

Hope you don't mind me posting that info, just thought you might all be interested.

We're away for the weekend - going to see my parents so won't be on until maybe Tuesday. Need to get packing really. There always seems to be so much less stuff now that dd is out of nappies and not needing any baby stuff.

Hope you all have a lovely Easter weekend.

becksydee · 09/04/2009 17:50

craftynclothy - thanks for telling me about your site and the discount code. you sell the nappies we've been recommended (bimbles and bumbles) so will probably be putting some business your way in the near future! will do part of the order through you and part through thenappylady i think, as they accept the real nappies for london vouchers.

will dedicate some time this weekend to getting my head round it and working out what i need, so i might e-mail you at some point littlefairysmile

craftynclothy · 09/04/2009 19:16

Oooh I will be taking the london nappy vouchers - just have to send the forms back to them and get it all put on the site.

fairygirl3 · 09/04/2009 19:34

AMe - hope all goes well with your stupid boss, like you need stress like that .Im 22wks &
4 days & im still sick mainly evenings /nights.
Had our scan 2 weeks ago ,all is well & its a girl ,its took me this long to get my head round it as was convinced it was a boy,my other children are a bit upset as they wanted another brother but am sure they will get used to it.

OonaghBhuna · 09/04/2009 20:27

Mamamila, Congratulations, fantastic news, your DH sounds very romantic and orgnaised!

I have a heart scan tomorrow so fingers crossed everything is still ok.

I hope everyone has a good Easter weekend

Haribosmummy · 09/04/2009 21:15

mamamila - Just read your post! Congratulations!!! I'm def. going to have an El CS but don't have a date yet - but somewhere just before 7th August is most likely!

BabyBump2B · 10/04/2009 04:27

Well back from the 3D scan and it was AMAZING! I highly recommend it if you can swing it (Ours was free as I'm writing about it for work otherwise we wouldn't have been able to afford it.) It was so sweet and.... its a girl!

So my women's intuition was very wrong and DH was right! It was so wonderful to see her and we got to spend 45 mins with the tech just watching her yawn and hide her face, suck her thumb and play with the umbilical cord! So lovely!!!

Good luck tomorrow Oonagh with the heart scan!

Happy Easter everyone!

kitkatqueen · 10/04/2009 08:37

Well my car just made it to the hospital yesterday for my scan, and everything seems "growing very well" comment I am guessing I am looking at another 4kg baby but thats fine. The girls came along and were so excited to see the baby on the "hospitals tv", however the sonographer proved dp right me wrong and rather upset dd2 by say "oh yes definatley a boy"!!!!

I think dd2 will get over it I don't know why I was so convinced it would be another girl. Am starting to think though that another boy couldn't be better really. There is a 20 month gap between my 2 girls then 26 months before ds was born and the gap between him and his brother will be 20 months. I wonder if I can make out that I planned that...

Oh yeah and then the car died an absolute death on the way home... Luckily I have managed to borrow a car, but it is a bit of a squeeze!

Looks like baby "Ollie" has a healthy heart, thank goodness. He has a strong heartbeat and everything looks great. What a relief!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. My Dds have the vomiting bug So I am sure we wont be doing much!

MichaelaS · 10/04/2009 19:55

Hi all, glad to hear you are all ok and that scans are going well.

We had our second scan (21+0) yesterday, and the baby is fine, wiggling all over the place although I can only feel the very big kicks. all the tests were normal, and that's very reassuring :-) we didn't find out the sex, so it'll be a suprise, subject to the below though.

so, the baby's fine, but my cervix isn't holding out well. For those that don't know, I had a dodgy smear a few years back and had a LLETZ (loop excision). They told me at the time it can have complications with pregnancy, so I knew to check the doctors were looking for it. At the 12 week scan though they said my cervix was 3cm ("normal" is 4cm), and they told me not to worry, that the procedure I had couldn't possibly have removed more than about 1/2 a cm and the consultant doing the LLETZ shouldn't have worried me. Yesterday at the 20 week scan they did another check and i'm down to 2.2cm. they have prescribed me progesterone pessaries, and want to re-scan in 2 weeks to check if things are getting worse or not.

I'm not sure whether to be pleased that they found it and are treating it, or worried that it seems there is a real risk of early delivery. I'm only 21 weeks, and i'm just worried i might go into labour before it's safe for the baby - one of the side effects of the surgery is late miscarriages. Just didn't think it would ever happen to me.

Anyway, sorry for offloading, sometimes i'm not worried at all but each time I think about it I wonder what the chances are of delivering in the next few weeks before it's likely to be safe (after 32 weeks).

Well, at least i'm glad to be going back to the hospital for another check in 2 weeks. Anyone else experiencing this?

mamamila · 10/04/2009 20:27

thanks ladies! although my married glow is wearing off rapidly..! because dh has stayed behind in zanzibar and not due back for at least 2 weeks, probably more.

MichaelaS poor you, what a lot to worry about. try to stay positive. what do the pesseries do? will you be confined to bed rest? do you have other dc's to look after?
you should start a thread about it as there are bound to be a lot of other mums who have experienced same and can give more practical advice and support

OonaghBhuna congrats on the heart scan
kitkat congrats for your boy! sorry about your car though...

BumpVLump · 10/04/2009 22:22

MichaelaS that sounds awful. I do think you have to be pleased that they found it early and are watching you so closely. But of course that doesn't stop you worrying.
I have to agree with mamamila and say its a good idea to start another thread as it would be nice to find someone who had also been through simillar...
OOnaghBhuna really glad to hear the lil' heart is ok.

MichaelaS · 11/04/2009 01:12

Thanks you two, I've been looking around and there are quite a few threads out there, and lots of info on the web. I'm going to try not to think about it until the next scan, and see how it goes.

The pessaries are progesterone and they're somehow supposed to keep the cervix from thinning any more or opening. I don't think i'll need bed rest unless it gets worse, i've been told to avoid strenuous activity but I can still walk and do gentle exercise.

Thanks for the support, i'll see how it goes. Baby seems very active and happy at any rate.

2HotCrossBunsAnd1InTheOven · 11/04/2009 10:32

MichaelaS - just wanted to add some support for you. It must be quite worrying but it's good that they are waching you carefully. I have a friend who was due the same week as I was with DS2. She had a similar problem I think and her DD2 was born 7 weeks early. She's completely fine and size wise is comparable to my DS2 (and has been for a while). She did know about her "condition" (for want of a better word) so was able to "plan" (a little!) for an early delivery.

I've been watching the car seat chat with interest. Ds2 is 2 tomorrow and in a Maxi Cosi Priori. DS1 is 4 at the end of May and is likewise still in the Priori (he's light and I think they are more comfortable than the boosters). I wanted to keep DS1 in his seat until after our holiday to Cornwall at the end of August. DH got the baby seat (the Maxi Cosi one) out of the cellar and has managed to get all 3 accross the back of our Passat estate. The baby seat is behind the passenger seat. I thnk it was tight but all 3 seats are in - hooray!!! The Rodi XR (DS1's next seat) isslightly narrower than the Priori so we should be ok...

Happy Easter evryone - hope you are all having a good weekend. Too much chocolate here - and there will be birthday cake tomorrow. Glad I am pg so less guilt!!!
