Clairedaz - the scans have a margin of error up to 20%... they tend not to tell you that!

We had another baby in work today. Was 9lb 11oz when born! Lovely he was, I got an extended hold. Forgot how lovely it is to stroke babies heads and have them grip your fingers. Good job I'm having one or DP would have been mithered to death tonight!

sarah76 · 19/03/2009 15:36

Ergghhhh....tried to eat Batchelors Pasta n'Sauce Macaroni Cheese and it was FOUL!!! Had to throw it away, the smell was making me sick. Worth a try I suppose. . .was hoping to avoid another trip to the Trafford Centre. DH has offered to take me tonight (to stop me whinging).

BabyBump2B · 19/03/2009 16:52

Thanks LittleFairySmile I generally think I look ok but after a bath, slathering myself with anti-stretchmark oil, I just can't believe how much my body has changed!

Good idea about the massage - my private medical covers some so I should def book in for one.

Thanks for listening!

cairns · 19/03/2009 19:35

babybump2b - I am also huge, well feel it anyway. It seems to have all appeared in the last couple of weeks, boobs and large tum.. I was also big in pregnancy with DS too... I think that is just my body. I must admit I would love to look glowing in pregnancy but I too have always felt such a big lump....

Struggling here a bit to be honest.. whinge coming. DH has been working soo hard recently that I never see him. I know I should be thankful that he still has his job... but it is really getting me down. He leaves at 7.30am and isn;t home until 9ish. and has just told me he will be working on Sunday too (Mothers Day hurumph!!) I just feel he does not care anymore as it is his decision to work the hours he does and he does not say anything nice to me at the moment as he is so obsessed with work, all he does is ask how DS is!!. My birthday was in January and DS was very sick a vomiting bug, so i did not really have a bday and we could not go out, but I was promised a 'make-up' birthday which has never happened.. I feel soo taken for granted right now.. ok whinge over....

also have suddenly got the nesting instinct.. the months of lack of housework due to MS have gone and have been on a bit of cleaning streak this week, bathrooms, kitchens top to toe.. garden tidy.. this new energy seems to have been chanelled somewhere.

Haribosmummy · 19/03/2009 19:43

Hi all!

I had my first appt. with my consultant today - it's the same chap who delivered DS so am feeling pleased that I am able to see him again this time. I've had one or two flutterings and heard the heart beat today but still largely not feeling that PG at all. I have bought some maternity trousers now, in the hope a bump might appear, but they just fell down, so I've got my jeans on again now!!!

I'm really sorry for those of you still struggling with sickness - I seem to have a cast iron tummy but am feeling very tired today, after tailing around London and then taking DS swimming!!!

BB2B - Couldn't agree more re. the stretch mark oil, I'm addicted to Bio Oil. I just love the stuff!!!

Cairns - I'm sorry you are having a tough time. How old is your DS? My DH works away all week (different time zone) so I don't get to speak to him much during the week, so I can empathise a bit.

Think an early night is calling for me!!

valz · 20/03/2009 10:01

well ladies, just on maternity clothes, ive been getting uncomfortable in the past fortnight in my own jeans so decided to go shopping last sat for some maternity jeans, peacocks was really the only store i was in that done maternity wear and the jeans where rank, the arse of them is ridiculous....very dissappointing. as i was so uncomfortable on sat, on sunday i threw on a skirt and tights which was very comfortable and on paddys day i wore a black dress with tights which was very comfortable also so i think i'll have to kit my wardrobe out with a few new dresses. i just wear tracksuit bottoms to work so im ok through the week.

but im just interested to know, where are you all shopping and what are ya wearing?

VJay · 20/03/2009 10:26

I'm wearing maternity jeans from mothercare and a maternity shirt from H&M....very comfy

hencath · 20/03/2009 10:46

Hi Valz,

I am struggling with jeans too. I found a fab pair of black jeans (over the bump style) in debenhams red herring collection that were £9 in the sale and they had a couple of nice t-shirts and blouses too. I have found bottoms in general very hard to find. There are very few maternity collections where I live and what there is tends to be really badly styled. I tried a pair of jeans on in Dorothy Perkins in a size 14 that were HUGE and the size 12 I couldn't get over my thighs - very annoying. Otherwise I have been buying tops in larger sizes from monsoon.I am usually a 14 so have been buying tops in 16/18. Hugely depressing but need extra room for enormous boobs.

I have found maternity clothes a real problem. They seem to be far too large at the moment and normal clothes just dont fit right. I love clothes shopping normally but am finding this very difficult. I know that there are a lot of high street retailers that do have maternity ranges but none of them do unless you live in a large city or like to shop online. I dont like to shop on line as I am fussy about fabrics and like to try things on first. I know I am moaning but it does drive me mad, and also why is it that just because you are pregnant suddenly you are meant to be wearing horrid shapeless and uncomfortable bras that make your boobs look like they are large triangle flaps? Anybody have any recommendations for bras that give you more shape and support (I'm a 38F now)?

Glad to hear people are getting over morning sickness - isn't it great being able to open the fridge again? I have my scan on 30th and very excited although don't want to know what it is yet.

However have been plagued with horrible eczema and can't stop itching, popping to GP today to see if I can have anything stronger for my sore and bleeding arms, tummy and legs.

Have been feeling baby moving a lot over the last week which is very reassuring. Feels a bit like a twitch, like when you get a twitch in your eye - its the only thing I can relate it to

BumpVLump · 20/03/2009 10:56

Hi all,
Im feeling a lot better. Most days the headaches are going...
Had my anomoly scan. Lovely to see, but all in all a bit dissapointing as scan lady seemed in a big hurry and mumbled through most of it. Was SO looking forward to it after so many mums told me how amazing it was, and DP said he couldn't understand a word she said.
All fine though which is the most important thing. She was very cagey about the sex, but thinks it is a GIRL. Which we are V V happy about.
Think we may try and do one of those 4d ones later on- any one done one of these before?
Also felt very unpregnant and small in waiting room with all the lovely bumps surrounding me. Have started to stick my tummy right out to look more pregnant!
Hope all you ladies ok today.
TaleofTwoCities, Nuttygirl, LeninGrad - How'd your scans go?

Hawkmoth · 20/03/2009 11:03

Maternity clothes - I have some HUGE Dorothy Perkins jeans, some WHITE Red Herring jeans, which fit lovely, but are WHITE!!! My fave are black pants from George. I had to go to the HUGE store at the City of Manchester Stadium but at £12 they are worth it, very smart and outstandingly comfy.

Topswise, I'm in various maternity vests since everything is normally so short, with a cardigan from New Look, also have a big cardie from Monsoon that will do when it gets warmer.

I think I only need a couple more things, some smart blue jeans and some smart tops. Going to risk Marks and Spencers, but HAVE checked where they have Maternity wear in stock (Manchester), customer services very helpful.

I probably should buy online and not try on in changing rooms, but I like going out and being a normal person!!!

ameNbump · 20/03/2009 11:21

Morning all. Haven't posted for ages. Have been really poorly with my kidneys...Vomming every hour/no energy etc (i'm nw lighter than i was pre-pregnancy)

BUT On the plus-side it meant i had to see the MW, so got to hear the heartbeat The MW found it straight away, and it sounds like a sturdy little thing, despite it's Mother's inept kidneys

And on the plus plus side, my amazing DP has been in OUR flat the whole time, looking after me

It's my first day back at work today, so am a bit wobbly, but i don't think anything could crush my mood today.

How has everyone been?

Axx

Haribosmummy · 20/03/2009 11:38

AmeNBump - what a lovely treat for mothers day!! YOu have your DP living with you!!!!

I like Mamas and Papas stuff, also Formes and Isabella Oliver. (Isabella Oliver's stuff is great but horrendously expensive so I buy mine from ebay ) it's lovely quality though and I've never been disappointed with it. For DS, I had a lovely pair of formes jeans (again from ebay!) which I (stupidly!) freecycled. but for now, I'm still in my usual clothes...

Hawkmoth - I like white jeans... they are cool for the summer!!

BumpVlump - It made me to think of sticking your tummy out. I might try that!!!

Hencath - Hope you get something for your skin...

Well, I'm back off to enjoy the sunshine!!

HM

Hawkmoth · 20/03/2009 12:00

The white jeans should be alright in a couple of months, will just have to carry extra baby wipes so that I don't get DD's handprints all over them.

HeinzSight · 20/03/2009 12:25

BumpVLump, I'm glad everything's OK with bub, but what a shame the sonogropher rushed through

Good luck to TaleofTwoCities, Nuttygirl and LeninGrad with your scans today

OP posts:
TaleofTwoCities · 20/03/2009 13:23

Hi all, had scan this morning. Only took about 10 mins but the main thing is all looks fine and it's a BOY - very excited about this! I thought I spotted the bits on screen so it came as no surprise. Ds (4.9) is v. excited as he says he likes boys best and wants to name baby after his best friend.....also good because dh, who was less than keen on the idea of dc3, preferred a boy. DD and I are getting used to the idea of being outnumbered. Even the 2 cats are boys.....

Good luck Nuttygirl and LeninGrad, hope it went well. Congrats BumpVLump.

nuttygirl · 20/03/2009 13:50

Maternity Wear - I've got a pair of black trousers and a pair of grey cords from Mothercare (only cos they're the only place I can get short length stuff, the quality is pretty crap). I also got a pair of cargo pants from New Look. Tops I love H&M, especially because they seem to make me look more pregnant and not just fat iykwim.Have a couple of cheap tops from New Look (2 for £10). I got a lightweight trenchcoat from Tesco (not maternity but was cut right to fit a bump under)

AmeNBump - sorry you've been ill. Hope you're better.

Congrats to the others who've had scans today and good luck for those still to have them.

Well we had our scan. Despite me drinking plenty of water (I have a sore throat so have been drinking more than usual) my bladder wasn't full and baby was v low down. It filled up a bit as she was doing the scan but baby was quite happy being as low down as possible and curled up into a ball. She managed to check everything she needed to and it was all fine. Then she turned the screen to us and pointed all the bits out - it had it's head tipped forward onto it's chest, and it's legs right up over it's head . Despite much poking, prodding and wiggling of the scanner thingy it was very very lazy and only kicked once...even then it literally kicked and then went back into a ball . So we don't know the sex - it feels quite wierd as we found out last time, seems a bit surreal. It didn't surprise me really cos when the mw listened for heartbeat at 16 weeks it was right down behind my pelvis and didn't want to play.

sarah76 · 20/03/2009 14:59

Social worker and psychiatrist just left. No promises as to medication change, they are speaking to a consultant and will let me know next week.

Tried to phone for my physio appt for the SPD, but no answer, even though it's the right time of day.

Need to talk to CAB about quitting job now and getting Maternity Allowance vs. staying and being off sick and getting SMP. The way I'm reading it, MA seems like the better way. And I would stop being hassled by my annoying boss.

Maternity clothes--none yet! Just a larger size pair of jeans I bought at Lane Bryant in the U.S. in January. They should stretch for a while. Still haven't gained any weight, and don't appear to be any bigger. But I'm starting from a size 22 and an apple shape to begin with, so this is apparently ok.

nuttygirl, am smiling at your description of the uncooperative baby.

ameNbump, glad to hear your DP is now with you!

hencath, I share your maternity bra woes...mine (40DD) used to look so nice in their underwired, balconette bra glory. Now I have 'large triangle flaps' as well!

Hawkmoth · 20/03/2009 15:11

Sarah, I'm sure the time you are on SMP will mean your MA won't start until you are 36 weeks. If you are only getting statutory pay for six months, you won't have to give anything back. Take the money, and maybe your boss will grow up a bit. They shouldn't be hassling you while you are on the sick. Ask them to write to you if they NEED to contact you.

Lucky people getting scans, it's funny how the weeks seem to be ticking by, but the scan seems just as far away!

I'm really down today. DP has heard nothing jobwise, I'm starting with a cold/throat infection or something, DD is going on holiday with my parents tomorrow for a week and I will miss her like hell, plus DSDs coming tonight and they're hard work at the best of times. To top it off, DP's exW is fecking about with the divorce again. It should have been sorted last autumn but she's such an evil controlling cow that she takes every opportunity to hold things up.

I might be being stupid wanting DP NOT to be married to her when I have our baby, of course, it should only matter that we love each other. Well bollocks to that, I'm really knacked off.

hencath the triangle flaps had me laughing out loud there, good description. im a 32f normally and my cup size dosent seemed to have increased but im finding my bras are tight and uncomfortable so i was hunting for bras on saturday two. but pregnancy seems to have brought with it tiny pimples on my chest and back and when i went to fit on the bras i got pissed off at the sight of them and left the change room half huffing with myself. has anyone else took these pimples? i thought the hairy belly was bad enough.

my belly button is ever so slightly turned inside out but ive just discovered if i put a finger at either side and push in it pops right out, its so weird.

Glad to hear all scans are going well, so envious i have to wait another 3 weeks, used my doppler again last night just to keep me going for a while. im shocked at how many are finding out the sex of their babies. most people i know never ask so they have a wee surprise at the end, mind you secretly like myslef it probably kills them not to ask.

still no movements for me yet...te wait continues.

Enjoy the weekend ladies, its absolutely gorgeous here today as it has been all week so heres hoping for an equally good weekend. my god another week nearly over, this pregnancy is flying!!

Hawkmoth - How old are your DSDs? I have 2 DSDs (11 and 14 now), I am very lucky and get on well with both of them (most of the time!!)... We have the DSDs this weekend, which I am a bit surprised at, as it's mothers day and usually their mum makes a big fuss about it.. I actually am wondering if it's got to do with the fact we have DS this year and she wants to know what we do... It's a really horrid feeling having to deal with your partner's ex, isn't it? I get on Okay with DSD's mum now, but it's not easy and her level of madness hostility is really quite shocking given they have been apart for over 10 years now!!! Hope your DP gets the divorce sorted soon.. WIll you get married soon after or wait a while?

Valz - I will def. find out the sex of the baby. I did with DS and (for me) it made bonding with him so much easier / better.

Leningrad - That's exactly how I feel. Lots of people don't think I'm expecting, even when I bring it up in conversation!!

MichaelaS · 20/03/2009 19:36

Hello all! I haven't posted for ages, and haven't had a chance to catch back up with you all, but just wanted to say hi, glad to hear it's going well for most of you, and hope the rest of you are feeling better soon.

I'm 18+1 today and starting to feel movements too, if i'm sitting quietly or lying in bed. it's GREAT! next scan not until 9th April (21+0) so I have a while to wait.

How exciting some of you are finding out the sex- we haven't decided yet if we want to know or not. Am goign to leave the decision up to DP as I don't think i'm that bothered and it would be nice for him to have something to do/contribute IYSWIM, I think he's feeling a bit left out now I can feel movements but he can't.

take care all!

LittleFairySmile · 20/03/2009 20:53

So glad all today?s scans went well. BumpVLump sorry scan was so disappointing. Let us know if you do go for 4D one (we are toying with teh idea, but don?t want to know gender, and they are very clear scans, a friend had one and you can see everything!) TaleofTwoCities glad all looks fine! Nuttygirl I bet all that poking and prodding was uncomfortable! LeninGrad I don?t suppose a low placenta at this stage is any real concern at all.

Valz I don?t have much maternity stuff, but what I do have came from Mothercare or Asda George when I was pg last time. I have some Blooming Marvellous stuff I brought a few weeks ago (but they are in receivership so be careful if you buy there, you can?t take it back, as I found with faulty jeans!) and I also have a pair of Next jeans that have been lent to me by a friend, but they are slim fitting and I prefer the more roomy, generous cut! Can?t justify to myself spending out on clothes that I will only wear a short time, I just have to remember to get one pair of jeans in the wash while the other are on.
