hello everyone. LOL at all the hairy and pimples stories. and wow at all the knowledge on buggie and slings! I didnt get on with slings last time and am hoping that my trusty loola and maclaren wil see us through. We got dd's pushchair out the other day - she hasnt used it since the summer, and it felt really bizarre to be pushing one!

Exciting to hear that scans are coming up soon - good luck!

LittleFairySmile · 26/02/2009 16:29

Been catching up - also had to LOL at hair/spots stories, hormones have a lot to answer for!

I'm feeling really weepy today, keep thinking something is not right (hormones again) as I don't feel sick any more! Don't want to wish anything away, but it will be nice when I can feel baby move so I know it's ok!

BumpVLump · 26/02/2009 16:56

Hello all you hairy, spotty, and hormonal ladies.
I can not keep up with this thread...
Money worries= not goood. Think we're all struggling but if me or DP lost our jobs we'd be up sh*t creek. Hope we all come into happier times soon.
I am still getting the odd stonker of a headache (at least its not everyday any more) and taking the SPATONE iron supps religiously. My sickness also rearing its ugly head for the odd day or too- my GP says I am doing too much (my job involves shifts) not good for headaches or sickness.
Still just looking remarkably fat and not pregnant. Seem to be craving cheese and onion crisps... so maybe why Im looking so fat!
Valz I got an angel sounds doppler and have been listening since week 11...not for eveyone (my friend did not get on with hers at all) but I love mine, and after a missed miscarriage it is pure reassurance for me.

Nandos after months of teenage skin, I now have glowing skin on my face...but they seem to have travelled to my chest. How attractive. Mine looks like a big rash. And its not easy to cover with this even-more-massiver bust flowing out my bras.

Big hugs to all
xx

ScummyMummy · 26/02/2009 17:21

Gosh, know what you mean about being a hormonal wreck, lfs. Seems like all my reactive emotions are heightened atm. I go from weepy to elated to sentimental to irritable to furious with far less provocation than usual.

nellyup · 26/02/2009 17:25

olivo what's the Loola like? I'm thinking of that one.

Hormones - yes, all over the place! I found the stories about David Cameron's little boy very hard to read.

TaleofTwoCities · 26/02/2009 19:47

Yes, the loola looks good nellyup so be interested to hear more from olivo. It's reversible isn't it? I read somewhere that it's heavy?

OonaghBhuna · 26/02/2009 20:15

Ok had my 20 week scan early as I am 18 weeks. It was great to see the baby and relieved that everything looks so healthy.

We found out the sex....ITS A BOY! We are so excited and feel a bit like first timers again. I wont have a clue after having two girls!
My bump is huge.

Anyway I use a Kari me wrap around sling it takes a while to work out how to tie but its great really comfortable aswell.

I am a fan of mountain buggy we have a single and a double. They are so easy to push, l do reccommend them. They are cheaper on ebay. We bought our single in the US because it was far cheaper out there.

HeinzSight · 26/02/2009 20:24

How exciting OonaghBhuna, you're our first to find out the sex!!! Are you in shock after having 2 girls?

Updated list here adding your little boy on!!!

Wow, a boy OonaghBhuna that is brilliant. It must be a shock when you have 2 of the same to get the other! And you're 2 dds will no doubt dote on their little brother! I think we're going to find which it is at the scan (altho' of course praying first that everything is okay with baby). DS says he wants a brother, dd is too young to state a preference!

TaleofTwoCities · 26/02/2009 20:45

PS as everyone will say to you watch out when you're changing a little boys nappy! That's my first bit of advice on having a boy....

HeinzSight · 26/02/2009 21:16

Oh yes, I remember those nappy changing days with my 2 boys

Blimey, it's been busy on here! Hope all the ladies going through tough times are keeping well.

Updates here, well, I had my 13 week scan, and saw baby yawn and wriggle around a bit more - thankfully because I'm a bit older, I was worried about downs, and I've been told I'm very low risk, and that I wont need any further tests, which is a relief.

Had a little scare last Friday, but a scan showed everything was fine - got to hear the heartbeat for the first time too! Anyway, I'm all on track for the 22nd August, says the midwife.

valz - I have the Angelsounds Doppler (the cheapest one, I think!), and haven't heard anything yet - although this is probably due to having a retroverted uterus, and it slowly moving to where it should be - I'm at 14 weeks now.

I'm having a 22 week scan (sigh... so much longer to wait!) but it ends up it's on my 39th birthday morning, so that'll be a nice surprise! Still, only about 8 weeks to go... sighhh....!!

Is anyone going to the Baby Show at ExCel this weekend? We're going on Saturday, hopefully it wont be too busy (we're going to get there early), so we can get a good look at things and build up our various wishlists!

sarah76 · 26/02/2009 21:33

Well, I talked to my (idiot) boss today and am going back to work Monday. It will be nearly 3 months that I've been offfirst the flu, then annual leave for wedding/honeymoon, then pregnancy-related crap when we got back. And I only started with them mid-October! Have spent more time off than there, but can't feel guilty about it because there is no work to do anyway. Wish I'd never taken the job, thinking of quitting, but need to work through all the ramifications of quitting while pregnant. Not least being the money issueDH earns a decent salary, but we are up to our eyeballs in debt, a lot stemming from the divorce and the time I spent unemployed after we moved.

I think even if I quit now, I'd still have enough weeks working to qualify for MA. If I can hang on until 25 weeks, the employer apparently has to pay SMP, even if I quit. I know there's no way I'm going back to this job after maternity leave--there would be no benefit to going back since I don't qualify for any of the occupational maternity stuff they have.

DH really against me quitting, but if I could think of some other way to bring money in he'd be ok with it. Sigh......

OonaghBhuna · 26/02/2009 22:20

HS and TOTC thank you! Yes still in shock!

HS thanks for updating the list

Uki · 26/02/2009 22:28

OonaghBhuna- CONGRAT'S on the boy

I have the exact opposite of you.

It LOOKS LIKE WE are having a...

GIRL

very exciting i'll need a whole new wardrobe after 2 boys,

we could do a great swap oonaghBhuna if i didn't live so far away!!!

TaleofTwoCities · 26/02/2009 22:34

Uki - that is also great news that it's a girl. Hmm, advice on girls - watch out - you're life is in danger of turning pink!!! (we are so pink here that I've started buying dd stuff from the boy's section!)

TaleofTwoCities · 26/02/2009 22:37

sarah76 sorry to hear about the work dilemas. Hope it all gets sorted out. Last thing you need is work problems...

OonaghBhuna · 26/02/2009 23:05

Uki - thats fantastic!!! I am going to do major clear out, I have loads of pink clothes!!! I have probably asked before but where are you Uki?

Oh, so exciting that people are finding out about the sex already! I'm hoping that this one will let us know - dd was a deliberate surprise, with ds we wanted to find out but he was in such a position he wouldn't let us no matter how much the sonographer prodded.

TaleofTwoCities yes, the Loola is reversible, definitely though I don't know about the heaviness. Must go and check out a real baby shop sometime soon and have a proper feel. I definitely want a reversible this time after spending most of my extremely talkative ds's toddlerhood yelling 'I can't hear you' over the traffic as I pushed him in his forward facing buggy.

nandos · 27/02/2009 13:31

oonaghbhuna, congrats on your baby BOY!
and
Uki congrats on your baby GIRL!

sarah76, sorry to hear abt your work problems.its difficult to decide wht to do at times..

bumpvlump, u said exactly what i could not describe b4.. i have clear skin on my face but now pimples are appearing on my mini bbs no one will realise except me n dh but still its really UGLYYY!
also i thought my MS has gone for couple of wks ago but it came again while i was taking shower and puked just b4 i came out of shower horrid..
btw am still out of UK and yesterday my midwife called on dh's mobile and hes in US atm and she said she wants to talk to me..i am in dilemma whether to get my checkup here itself or go back to UK. am 18+3 today and not far away from the anomaly scan, also cant wait to see the gender of my baby..

BumpVLump · 27/02/2009 14:45

Soo excited we are getting sexes already you lucky people!!!
WOW. Congrats to you both.
I think we are going to find out too but have to wait till 22 weeks...BOOOO!! Have promised myself I can buy some clothes once we know the sex (have had to REALLY resist those lickle babygrows...so cute!)

sarah76 · 27/02/2009 16:25

Congrats to Oonagh & Uki, agree it's so exciting that people are already finding out! I think my anomaly scan isn't til early April, feels like ages!

Going for triple test soon (they don't do nuchal scan up here apparently), and the week after I have an appointment with the consultant for the results. How often are you supposed to see the midwife if your care is shared? When I had my booking in, she said that due to being 'high risk', I'd be seen 'more often'.....but then when I booked an appointment with MW after my dating scan (as instructed), the MW (not same one) said I wasn't supposed to be there and they wouldn't be seeing me again until after I saw the consultant! She acted like first MW had made a mistake in telling me to come. Just so frustrated, I feel like I don't know what to expect.

This MW also asked if I'd 'considered a termination' because I was crying and upset about the nausea/being depressed. The more I think about that, the more annoyed I getesp because she didn't know me at all, didn't have my recordswhich would have told her this was a very much wanted pregnancy!

BabyBump2B · 27/02/2009 18:12

Oonagh & Uki Congrats on your Boy & Girl!!! How exciting about finding out the sex! We're booked for March 27 - DH's birthday and I CAN'T wait!

Sarah - what a horrible thing for the midwife to say.

Am so glad its the weekend I am truly over this week and February in general!

ScummyMummy · 27/02/2009 18:13

Ooooh! One boy and one girl so far. How exciting.
