Oonagh and Uki, congratulations. It is wonderful that they are the opposite sex!!! I would love to find out, but DH always vetoes it as he likes the 'surprise'. Last time we were all convinced it would be a girl as everyone seemed to tell us that.. and out popped meat and two veg . This time I don;t think I'm bothered, I love little boys as I am not a very pink person. But would also love a girl too.

Sarah - I am with what the midwife said, that is so horrendous it is something that should be reported. No-one in the medical profession should ask you/tell you to consider a termination.

VJay · 27/02/2009 19:44

Hi sarah I can't believe the mw said that to you. I come form Cheshire, but living in Scotland now, and I know they do nuchal scans at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, but you have to pay for them.

2HotCrossBunsAnd1InTheOven · 27/02/2009 20:20

Evening all. Very exciting about the sex Oonagh and Uki, giving me some hope for a girl as I have 2 boys already. I didn't find out with either of the 2 boys and in 2 minds whether to now. The baby will be loved and wanted regardless of sex but I will be sad if it's not a girl as this will be my last baby...probably... I believe that no-one is truly disappointed once the baby actually arrives but that it's more likely to feel some feelings of disappointment at the scan. Uumm tricky!

I agree Sarah - last thing you need is work woes. Hope it all sorts itself out.

Good luck to those with upcoming scans. Mine is a week on Monday so not long now!

kitkatqueen · 27/02/2009 22:58

Hormonal??? Oh you are just not kidding!! I also seem to have been visited by the sparkle fairy rather early this time and am cleaning for britain - just can't stop!!!! HEEELLPP!!

My poor house doesnt know whats hit it and at the same time I am so easily wound up at the mo its just untrue!!

Am looking for a new house too, which is exciting/sad/worrying all at the same time. DP has been working away 4 days a week for a while now and its not really working v well. He misses us and we miss him too much - he needs the job - its pretty secure and good pay so it looks like we will have to move. Trouble is my daughters school got mostly 1s in its ofstead report and I can't find anything close near his new job. Also have lived in my lovelly house for nearly 10 yrs, and even have lovelly midwife here... Dilemma!!!!!

Sorry to everyone who has money worries - it keeps me awake at night sometimes, worries me too that we will move and then he might lose his job.

Hope everyone has had a good day and isn't as hormonal as me. LOL!!

Oh, is my oldest daughters birthday tomorrow and she will be 5!!!!! Doesn't seem possible! Its gone by so fast!!!

VJay · 28/02/2009 08:37

Hi kitkat happy birthday to your dh, 5 is so big! My ds will be 7 later on this year, where does the time go?

I practically jumped out of bed this morning with energy, I've no idea where it's come from, but I will make the most of it until I crash out later. Looks like my house may come under attack too

olivo · 28/02/2009 14:25

blimey, i can never keep up with this thread!!

uki and oonagh, congrats on your girl and boy. I'm still tempted to find out but DH doesnt want to, so i guess we won't.

nellyup and taleoftwo, i love my loola! The frame on its own is not heavy, and the carseat clips on and fits into the car so easily. It is not heavy to push, it is reversible and it's easy to steer. it is quite heavy with the main seat bit on, but I am small and not strong and it wasnt a major problem. also, it all fits inot hte boot of my very small car. I think if i was getting one now, i would get the new one with the all in one handle so i could push with one hand.

i'm at the bursts of energy - I'm still really shattered but am only just getting ove the morning sickness and have also had a stomach bug ths week. plus dd is still up before 6 every day - yawn!!

trixymalixy · 28/02/2009 14:32

Congrats Oonagh and Uki. I don't think we'll find out the sex as we didn't last time. I don't really mind either way. Last time i secretly wanted a girl, but was convinced we were having a boy. Apart from a nano second of disappointment I have never given it a second thought. i love little boys, they're so cute and funny.

Sarah at midwife. Can't believe she said that!!

Got my blood test results in today and they were low risk which is a bit of a relief, although even if they had been high risk there would be no question of an amnio or a termination.

hope you all have a lovely weekend.

rightbobbydazzler · 28/02/2009 14:40

hi everyone normally im very sparky and optimistic but today please either skip this post or bear with me because im just posting a moan because my partner is bored of hearing it.

Im tired/shattered and full up with cold and my headache is now in its fourth day. im finding the pregnancy hard because it wasn't planned (im still very very happy about it) but i can't get any rest because of my 3 year old and little 7 month old baby whos not sleeping through yet (up four times last night) im desparate for sleep for getting rid of this cold and for some sun.......
arrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhh! tears...... etc
ok thats a little better now....

VJay · 28/02/2009 14:45

Poor you rbdazzler, that sounds tough. Can dp get up for just one night with the baby? I would beg if I was you, you just want one full nights sleep then you'll feel so much better I know. I'm sending you a {{{{{hug}}}}}

rightbobbydazzler · 28/02/2009 14:57

unfortunately ive made a rod for my own back as its always just been me that has got up to him so now he just has to turn over and im hardwired to wake up!
DP is a good making me hot choc and took DS to the park this morning but yes its def sleep i need. i know it'll all look very different if i had 8 blissful straight hrs..... thanks for my hug :-)

LittleFairySmile · 28/02/2009 20:42

You guys write so much - have caught up a bit. A girl and a boy already - wow - are we adding those details to the list?

Can't believe Sarah's mw. COMPLAIN!!! LOUDLY!

rbdazzler I know what you mean about waking when you hear DC. DH sleeps through and when I complain, he says 'you should wake me' - but really he's such a heavy sleeper, so bad at waking up, the few times I've done it, it took so long to wake him and he was in such a grump it really wasn't worth it. I get up and get back into bed quicker than all that! Can anyone have both DCs in the day for a good 4 or so hours so you can nap then? Can't think of anything else.

Hi everyone else!

kitkatqueen · 28/02/2009 22:19

rbdazzler If it helps any I have been seriously considering spending the night at my MIL's because I really need just 1 full nights sleep. The thought of no interuptions just silence and flat out sleep is just something I long for, knowing full well its highly unlikley!!

Also this baby wasn't really planned either - well, we planned to try for another baby in about a year so i'm just trying to look on this as an early surprise!!

DP and DS have both been ill and DS's floor is currently covered in towels in case he vomms again(easier to clear up) and both dd's keep having nightmares ( too much cheese???) so truely i really do sympathise. I just keep thinking that in a week or 2 everything will be different again and i will feel better able to cope.

chin up rb - it'll be ok.....

sarah76 · 28/02/2009 22:53

Cheers everyone, when MW said that I just sort of mumbled something about my DH, think I was too surprised to get really annoyed about it at that moment. I thought about complaining, but don't think I'm going to as a) can't remember her name and b) don't want to get a reputation with them for being 'difficult'. Plus I just don't need the stress. Weird, normally I don't wuss out on stuff like this, but I just don't have then energy.

Today was particularly bad, have barfed after every meal. Kind of unusual for me as I usually only have one session a day, and I can usually make it upstairs to the toilet. Had to yak in the kitchen bin twice! The third session was particularly undignified, as I managed to get it in my hair, down my arm, and the final insult.....puking so hard I peed myself!

kitkatqueen · 01/03/2009 11:26

sarah76 - Good show!!! most people have to wait until after the baby is born to get covered in vomit and wee at the same time!!!

Once the baby is born you can blame any incidental coatings on your person on the baby under the heading "mummy badge"!!! ( even if it wasn't the baby Shhhhh!!)

You poor thing tho' hopefully the sickness will recede a bit soon...

sarah76 · 01/03/2009 13:34

kitkatqueen --- well, I've been known to be a bit of an overachiever!!

Seriously though, I think I need to start doing pelvic floor exercises. During the whole of December I had a really nasty case of flu, and coughed so much and so hard I started weeing myself. Started wearing what DH and I affectionately call 'piss pads' for a while, but once I stopped coughing so much it seemed to get better. Now am wondering if I've just got a really weak pelvic floor, thinking pregnancy/childbirth will make it a lot worse!

Am still feeling very sick today, and strongly considering not going back to work tomorrow as planned. GP has already said he'd sign me off if I needed more time. Have lost four pounds in the last two weeks, but read some recent studies that say it's ok to lose weight during pregnancy IF you are very obese (as I am).

rightbobbydazzler · 01/03/2009 13:46

kitkat vjay fairysmile thank you :-) today is another day and i feel a bit better my headache has finally gone and my lovely friend just came round and did the washing up :-)

regards help my MIL lives 3 hrs away (mostly seen by me as a positive thing ;-)) but my own mother lives in france (not a postive thing) so i guess thats why i feel so ground down as little to no on tap support BUT my mother is on the ferry today and will be here at 9pm tonight after an abscence of 8 weeks so the cavalry has arrived hooray!
what a difference a day makes...........

sarah76 id miss work tomorrow and put my feet up.........
hope everyone else is feeling fine today.

LittleFairySmile · 01/03/2009 16:01

sarah - IMHO you should take the time off work if you need to!

Hi everyone else.

nuttygirl · 01/03/2009 19:15

sarah - I'd miss work too. at what your mw said.

rbdazzler - glad to hear your mum is coming and that you're feeling better.

well went out shopping yesterday, got back with a bad head which just got worse. Started eating tea and threw it all back up before I'd finished eating. Niiiiice . Used the potty to throw up in while dh got me something else - he came back with one of our pasta bowls so sent him back with very loud instructions to "get me a bloody bucket you idiot" . Anyway phoned the mw who said it was probab;y due to tiredness cos i haven't been sleeping well and she told dh to make me have a day in bed today and to run about after me all day . Am feeling much better for taking her advice!

fruitymum · 01/03/2009 20:52

hi all, sorry to hear so many of you are having a hard time with sickness and lack of sleep. My nausea went about week 16, off for bloods on \tuesday - first appt with mw so hopefully they will come back ok.
Those of you will children - have you told them about the pregnancy yet? I thought I'd wait at least 'til after the wk20 scan - just in case....
Hope you all have a good week - with lots of flutters and no barfing!

nuttygirl · 01/03/2009 21:05

Well so much for feeling better. Ate tea and have had diahorrea (sp?) since .

We've told dd but I don't know if she fully understands. She has picked some names though - her fave being Tractor (whether it's a boy or girl), Choo Choo (for a boy), Tea (for a girl), Babeeee (for either) and, when asked what a nice girl's name would be...Daddy!

ScummyMummy · 01/03/2009 21:54

Tractor is a great name, nutty! Sorry you're feeling under the weather.

Poor you, Sarah- hope you feel better soon. Agree with the others- surely there's no point in barfing all over everyone at your work!

I keep having a total energy crash in the early evening and needing a nap.

Does anyone know if it's safe to eat cooked camembert? I really fancy dipping new potatoes in a baked box of it- yum- but know that raw it's a no no... I thought I read somewhere that cooked cheese was ok but can't remember where to check it out.

TaleofTwoCities · 01/03/2009 22:00

Think you can Scummymummy! See here

We have told ds 4.9 about the baby coming. He understands but seems uninterested!

DD at 2.4 can answer correctly the question 'what's in mummy's tummy' but think she's just learned that's the right thing to stay having no understanding of the implications

TaleofTwoCities · 01/03/2009 22:04

...right thing to say

ScummyMummy · 01/03/2009 22:28

Oooh! Thank you for finding out this brilliant news for me, taleof2cities!.

Hawkmoth · 01/03/2009 23:10

Tractor! Brilliant! My bump is going to be called Guinea-Pig. I knew it was a mistake letting DD name the gerbil Butterfly - it was a precedent I didn't need!

Told DD about 11 weeks I think, after reassurance scan. She had to come with me for my 12 week scan anyway, and I had to be able to explain to her why I was so ill and tired all the time. She's 3, and kind of gets it, but asks a lot of questions, like "What's babies?" and "How do you get milk in your tummy for the baby?". She calls it 'our baby' and thinks it will be sleeping in bed with her like her baby doll!

Why haven't we ALL stopped being sick? I brought up about a spoonful of froth today, vomiting so hard it gave me black round the edge of my eyes!
