MrsY · 04/02/2009 14:37

Hey MsLucy any pics? We're waiting to hear from lbb, MarkStretch's Frankie is the latest we know of. Stanley was named a while ago, wasn't he? Any hesitation?

CatStar - remember you saying that at the meet. BTW, have you abandoned our fb group?

PinkTulips · 04/02/2009 14:38

have been tramping around outisde since my last post... we have a huge humpy field outside the front door and myself and the kids went adventuring up and down the field(with 2 cats and a kitten for company ). lots of climbing about and long wide steps and hoiking ds out of bogholes and the only result is that the kids are shattered. kung fu panda isn't anymore inclined to shift, have just downed more cumin tea, might stroll in and make a pot of RLT now and take a few evening primrose tabs... can't hurt right

Mrsy.... a friend of dp's told me while i was in labour that her middle name sounded like an old grannies name (abigail)... how he survived is beyond me! we still used it and i still love it and it suits her... the only reason it wasn't her first name is because i don't like gail or abbie and didin't want to be the mother who always corrects people who shorten her childs name

my mother told me after we'd named ds that she didn't like it and thought it was weird.... still used it and love it and it suits him down to the ground

wait til you meet her and then use whatever name you think fits.... don't let other peoples opinions affect you as no name is universally liked so there will always be people who like and dilike it.... just look at the baby name threads to see what i mean

good luck at the hospital dinky.... hope the roads have thawed a little for you to get there.

PinkTulips · 04/02/2009 14:41

welcom home mslucy

nkweto · 04/02/2009 14:51

Hello quick message..

Alexandra Nkweto was born 12.03am, 04.02.09. Safe and sound and 8llbs 11oz. We are now home and getting used to have two children!

Birth story to follow shortly... littlesez apologies, I know we were meant to buddy.. but I lost my phone!! Happily everything else went very, very well...

congratulations mslucy... have I missed anyone else ?

spottyshoes · 04/02/2009 14:54

I'm not too tolerant so having people comment on the names we have chosen would drive me to poke eyes out with sticks up the wall!

Welcome home Mslucy. Glad that lovely stanley is feeding well. Crossing my fingers for a calmer 2nd as well

Catstar is it you who desserted the FB group? I went on earlier to see what your surname was and you weren't there. I dont see anything wrong with double intials but with an S.S or a R.R you have to hope they dont have a lisp or can say them properly. Woger Woss may come in for a bit of teasing....although it didn't do Jonathan any harm

PT - what was the cumin tea again? Honey water and cumin? can I use powdered?

spottyshoes · 04/02/2009 14:55

and primrose oil???

spottyshoes · 04/02/2009 14:57

Congratulations Nkweto!!! and welcome baby Alexandra! Glad things went well and look forward to hearing your birth story

PinkTulips · 04/02/2009 15:06

congratulations nkweto at least someone had some birthing action on my due date

spotty; a spoon of cumin... i used powdered with ds as that was all i had and it was fine, although the seeds make a nicer tasting tea (that said it's not bad in comparison to some health teas i've tasted).... and a squeeze of honey just to make it palatable in boiling water.

evening primrose oil tabs were suggested earlier in the thread and i remember hearing it when i was preg with ds as well.... you can take them orally or if your brave squeeze them into your fanjo as close to the cervix as you can get.... supposed to act like prostoglandins and soften the cervix worth a shot

mumoverseas · 04/02/2009 15:07

MsLucy, welcome home. That was quick wasn't it? Didn't you have a CS? look forward to piccies soon.

Nkweto, congratulations. Gorgeous name but I'm biased as my eldest DD is an Alexandra (I will pray for you that your one doesn't have my ones temper but I guess she is at that age, 12 going on 21 )

so who is next then? I can't believe that the last few days have gone so quickly and my time will be up in just a few days. scary. right, off for bath, 24/grays/private practice and earlyish night in the hope that my bad cold will disappear by the morning. How daft is that, a cold in this weather (25+ degrees)

spottyshoes · 04/02/2009 15:15

Thanks PT - sounds gross just the ticket. Will start on it now

G'night MOS, hope you feel better soon

PinkTulips · 04/02/2009 15:22

am drinking RLT tea now and honestly the cumin tea is nicer!

have gone off the idea of drinking the whole pot of RLT as it's making me gag.... cumin tea more labour inducing anyway so might make some more of that.

hope the cold shifts for you MOS, a good weep at greys and PP should unbung you a bit (or am i the only sad hormonal freak who cries every time she watches those shows? )

Neeerly3 · 04/02/2009 15:32

have washed all my hand-me-down baby clothes and the three MINUTE baby vests i ordered from la redoute that arrived this morning - so my nesting is officially beginning....

catstar · 04/02/2009 16:00

Nkweto - congratulations!! a beautiful name and home so quickly. Hope this means all went well for you xxxx

I'm off to try to get onto Facebook now! I forgot I joined the group - I hardly ever seem to get on Mumsnet, let alone Facebook. Me and DH are going to have to timetable evening computer hogging!

catstar · 04/02/2009 16:01

Mmm - good point about SS and short tongue ... could be a Life of Brian moment ...

MamaGoose · 04/02/2009 16:06

I am now the mother of three! Baby girl born at home this morning. Weighs in at 4.15kg/9lb 1oz. 9hr labour - wasn't expecting that for a third child! All well. She was born in the birthing pool, not something I'd ever planned. Massive head like one of her brothers - 38cm! But no tears or stitches...phew. Am on my adrenaline high. No doubt will be knackered tomorrow.

Congratulations to Nkweto too!

PinkTulips · 04/02/2009 16:12

well done mamagoose what a great size! at least you didn't go too far overdue in the end and you got your HB... sounds like a great experiance

spottyshoes · 04/02/2009 16:15

Yay Mamagoose. Sounds a fab water birth (am very at these lovely HB's)

spottyshoes · 04/02/2009 16:17

Didn't realise Cumin didn't dissolve properly in boiling water. Oh well, will keep at it. How much would you recommend in a day PT?

spottyshoes · 04/02/2009 16:18

PMSL @ life of Brian memory Catstar. Please dont let that put you off though as Samuel is a fab name!

nkweto · 04/02/2009 16:19

oooh Mama Goose congratulations to you too !! Fantastic news

PinkTulips · 04/02/2009 16:25

lol, like i said, the seeds make a more tea like substance.. the powder is a bit odd alright

apparently you can drink as much as one cup an hour.... haven't dunk more than one or two cups in a day every few days myself but then it hasn't been working for me so maybe i should step it up a bit

spottyshoes · 04/02/2009 16:28

I'm re-christening you Putrid Tea lady

PinkTulips · 04/02/2009 16:39
