well my wee niggles are a bit more painfull and can time them to about 7 mins but still not lasting very long just had a bath to see if it helped and it hasnt gonna wait till after my tea then phone labour suite and see what they say. prob another false alarm but hey ho never mind

I've got 8 days to due date and I am so distressed by my legs and feet. The oedema is now worse than ever and I can hardly stand and walk now. I only went out for an hour today and came back seriously aching and swollen. Sitting at the PC aggravates it like nothing else. Sick of lying on my back with feet up as the weight of the baby then cripples my hips and spine. And sets off acid reflux. The relief I get from it is only marginal. I can't win! ggrrrr!

Seeing m/w on Tues and as the bp and urine have always been fine, just expect that will be told to grin and bear it.

yep, loads and loads. About 3 litres a day?

I get severe pain in the lower legs and knees when I try to stand. So taut it feels like the skin will burst. I also get pin prick itching all over the legs for a while till the circulation gets going through the legs. The tops of my feet get so swollen they itch like mad at times. It must be comical to watch me try to rub foot lotion on them to soothe. then I limp around for a while like an old woman needing a hip replacement till I 'walk' it off. Upper legs also get taut w. water retention too.

Poor you Alux .... I'm sure you already know all their is to know about alleviation but all I know about oedema from friends etc is to drink loads of water, rest for periods of a time on your left hand side (to encourage kidney drainage or something) and avoid salty foods. Then when not resting make sure you exercise plenty (sounds easier said than done!).

Sounds like you're havign a rough time Alux, hopefully you won't have to wait much longer. I also got severe odema at the end, but I had the babies a week later. It really was unbearable, I had to lay on my side most of the time with pillows between my legs to get comfy. You really have to try not to walk anywhere as it aggravates it. I think it cleared up within a couple of weeks of having babies tho.

Morning all,I think Starshaker went off to hospital last night,she said she phoned the del suite and i think they told her to go in (I could be wrong i cant find the thread it was on).Alux sorry to hear you are feeling so lousy the last weeks are the worst,Well iam due Tomorrow/Tuesday and have nothing zip zilch zero.I spent yesterday doing my windows and curtains with my mums help and kept having to sit down so I suppose My mum did all the work really.I am taking ds to a birthday party this afternoon which I am not looking forward to 5 hrs in a room full of small children is not my idea of a fun Sunday afternoon.I have had to arrange for bil to take my ds to nursery and my parents to pick him up next week cause I cant fit behind the wheel anymore

I wish I could just get up and do the stuff I WANT to do, leander. Like finish preparations for DD. I can do stuff for about 30 mins then feel totally knackered because of these legs. Other than that, I would feel fine! MIL is v. overweight and I will never feel exasperated at how slowly she walks anymore.

One good thing has come out of it, DH made breakfast in bed for me this am. He is being generally helpful with the laundry and tidying up. I knew he always had it in him! Pity he works away in Scotland during the week.

well went up to hosp when contractions were 7 mins apart and quite painfull was there and monitored till 1am the contractions still coming 7 mins apart but getting stronger and more painfull they then sent me home. i now have no idea when im ment to go in (was told when they every 10 mins) still getting them about 7 mins apart. am starting to worry that im gonna leave it too late nex time and bumps will be born in house or on way to hosp

congratulations to all the new babies and really hope those of you who are suffering in the last weeks have your babies really soon. i'm now 8 days overdue, have tried everything, loads of walking, cleaning windows, stripping and varnishing hallway and sitting room floors, mowed the lawn, weeded the flower beds ...... can't really find much else to do!! oh and plus the other stuff, sex, rasperby leaf tea etc. haven't done curry's or pineapple. are they really any good?

Just popping in to see how you're all doing - sorry to hear of everyones's problems - just hang on in there! Weird to think that my little poppet is a whole week old today!!!!

still sore got up a few times in the night with the pain but got back to sleep (i think) just had a bath and feel a bit less achey even though still getting the pain

Are your contractions still regular?Have your waters broken or had a show?With ds i had a show but waters didnt break and didint go into hospital till cons about 5 mins apart and it still too 7 hrs then so I wouldnt worry about leaving it too late.xx

yeah still regular had a show about 2 weeks ago (am almost pos it was a show)waters still fine. even asked the mw in hosp if she would break my waters if i paid her lol. got consultant tomorrow to see whats gonna happen next hope they just take me in on wed

i nearly kicked the doc in his face when he was breaking my waters. Told him I loved him afterwards tho

qsack, have you tried reflexology? i've been told that that works. if it does, let me know cos' i may need it soon too

Still hobbling around but having DH home on the weekend and him being helpful with what needs to get done around the house has helped my mindset. I was in tears on Fri night over the discomfort of these legs.

I am currently 39+2 but NO signs of labour yet. No bh's, no back pain, no cramping periody pains or niggly pains, no show etc. Never thought I would want some of them. Having a sinking feeling she will be late now.
