Hi everyone

Welcome to everyone's new arrivals! Not long to go for everyone else!!!

I've started the post natal thread, so can't wait for it to start filling up

We are both fine but abit worried about Darcies weight as shes losing more and should be gaining weight as she is 2 weeks today! but we'll see

motherpeculiar · 14/04/2005 10:03

Hi everyone

Finally got a name (Esther Una) and have now posted the birth story. Be warned - it's long. You may need to set yourself up with a cuppa and some snacks before you start. Alternatively ignore the detail - all the relevent info is in the first paragraph anyway!

take care those of you still waiting. It'll happen soon. Look forward to seeing those birth announcements.

No action here yet ....rather worringly though I seem to have developed an insatiable appetite and can't stop eating!

Knackering myself out each day by taking dd out to various softplay centres etc as feel guilty just vegging at home with her in front of cbeebies! After all it'll be ages before we get to spend as much one to one quality time together....she seems to really understand the concept of the new baby though and has apparently been boring the staff to death at her nursery (Mon & Tues - my blissful days!) with constantly repeating "Mummy's having a baby".

Due date on Monday so here's hoping that this one will duly oblige as dd did almost 3 years ago.

Good luck to those who may be going through labour/early labour at the moment.

Lucy99 · 14/04/2005 13:08

Well it's my due date today and still no sign of an impending arrival. Decided to shop the baby out so am going off to buy things and get my nails done. The alternative is another day spent watching other women giving birth on discovery health and freaking myself out about the pain of childbirth!! Hope everyone with new arrivals are having a lovely time with your little ones and that the rest of us will be joining you soon! x

leggymamba · 14/04/2005 15:55

Roobie - I can also be found with my head in the fridge for most of the day - my excuse today was for cleaning it but had to finish the old chocolate off rather than let dd get too fat!

My dd has confuse everyone at nursery (she still goes 4 days a week!) by telling them about bucket in mummy's tummy (she can't say patrick - the boy's name). Although when she's eaten all her food quite often it's so bucket can have some.

Welcome to Ester Una (another lovely name)

Emmalina · 14/04/2005 16:17

Have not been keeping up with you all since finishing work as my PC at home is broken - so annoying as it is a great way to pass the time, inlcuding those moments of insomnia .
Anyway it is lovely to hear about the babies arriving. I am jealous as I have had enough now and want mine to come although not due until next Wed. Everytime he moves it is really painful, like there is not enough room for both him and me, especially in the bladder department.
Anyway, glad to hear the fellow home birthers have managed to stay at home and had the births they wanted. I see that you have had them all in the pool, but I decided not to bother with one, which I hope I don't live to regret.
Congratulations to everyone who has had their babies. with great birth stories too, and hang in there everyone else. I hope the people having the on off contractions have got somewhere finally.
Best wishes to all and I hope to get back to the internet cafe soon to catch up with the latest. They don't have a toilet, which is a severe hitch for a 39 weeks pg lady with a baby grinding on her bladder . In fact I am off home to the loo right now.

leander · 14/04/2005 16:18

Hi all, no word from Verso since Tuesday so I think her announcement will be next.
Roobie I am also due Monday so I'll race you to the finish line.It will probably be you as i have nothing at the moment.
Been to the midwife this morning and everything is ok she told me that the head wont engage till actually in labour, everyone has started that "ooh you look like your ready to go anytime" Its really annoying.Cant be arsed to do ANYTHING at the mo and can just about walk ds from the car to nursery.

qsack · 14/04/2005 17:36

hi everyone, just an update really. due last saturday, still nothing. saw MW today, she did a stretch and sweep (mmmmm.... lovely), said that my cervix was well and truly closed and not looking likely in the next few days. bit disappointed but nothing i can do about it. got an induction date but really don't want to be induced. what's people's experience of induction, is it much more painful than if you go naturally? went into labour naturally with DS1 while i was in hospital waiting to be induced.

hi 006, thanks for your words of wisdom! got an email from a friend who said that her induction wasn't too bad either and it all happened quite quickly, so i'm all up for quickly rather than 10hrs of contractions every 2 mins .....
absolutely no reaction after the sweep yesterday, not that i'm surprised! off to london tomorrow for BIL birthday so hope i can hold out till then!

starshaker · 15/04/2005 15:12

well today is my due date but dont think anything happening yet. been told by a lot of people that sex can bring on labour if it was gonna work how long after sex would it be any1 got a rough idea or know from experience

qsack · 15/04/2005 21:18

hi starshaker, i think the whole thing about sex bringing on labour is totally diff. for each person. for me with DS1 we tried everything and nothing brought on labour! a friend of mine swears by sex to bring it on, but then she got BH's from about six months everytime she had sex so i guess her body was particularly sensitve to it. I have read that it has to be frequent sex to have any effect and i'm guessing that it will only help if you're nearly there anyway ??? i'm sure others will have other thoughts!

Merlin · 15/04/2005 22:43

Hello everyone!!! Finally made it home with Ryan from hospital today!!! Will post on birth announcements shortly. Just had a quick scan down and I can't keep up with all the babies - huge congrats to all and there are some beautiful names too. Thinking of everyone still waiting - good luck!!!

Roobie · 15/04/2005 23:02

Thought I'd take advantage of my insomnia and post an updated list of arrivals..... hope there's plenty of action going down this weekend!!
