Ah! dinkymum, I think I just officered you on fb - tell me if I got it wrong!

catstar · 26/01/2009 21:35

OMG Dinkymum - I've been convinced this one's going to be early! That's it, we HAVE to get up in the loft tomorrow and get seriously organised! Now had a chance to catch up on thread and read your happy birth story !

Yes, Wisley is the RHS Garden on the A3 nr the M25 junction with the fantastic Glasshouse. It's a Butterfly House at the moment where you walk through with the butterfflies actually all around you. It was soooo humid in there I felt a bit nauseous. Would be a great place for a summer meet up, although can get stupidly busy at the weekend. They have a family room in the cafe with a soft play area, which we cleared today when people caught sight of Little O's skin . It's not contagious but I felt like she was a leper !!!

Mrsy - am impressed at your shoe count!!
I must admit I've never really been a shoe person - I wear a pair of shoes til they fall apart then move on. I could definitely be a bag person though if funds permitted...

LBB - how exciting! Sounds like you might have had something stirred up there. Hope DP got the cash ready for action....

Bugger - was just getting round to commenting on stuff (which never happens for me) but Little O has woken up and it's time to administer the latest dose of Piriton....

Getting excited about logging on in the morning to see what baby action there has been overnight....

littleboyblue · 26/01/2009 21:43

catstar Sounds like you had a good time.
Was going to say shame about the soft play, but at least dd could have her pick of what to do and where to go! Awful when people react like that to excema like it's contagious

thehouseofmirth · 26/01/2009 21:54

Do we think it is significant that we haven't heard from MarkStretch today?

dinkystinky · 26/01/2009 21:56

Dinkymum - lovely birth story and so strange that you knew you'd go early too! Hope all going well with you and DD and the little man.

Catstar - glad you got a nice day in today with Little O. Sorry about the idiots in the play area though, though as LBB says, at least little O had her pick of what to play with....

LBB - great news about your consultant appointment and sounds like the internal may have already kick started things for you. Check out if they're the real thing with the tried and tested warm bath test...

Pempe - bouncing on a spacehopper should probably do the trick for you too. Didnt mean to make you feel sad earlier - just trying to give you a bright side that you only have to wait until 7 Feb max to see your little one which has to be a good thing.

MrsY - most impressed at your shoe count (and your little girl's = even before she's arrived!). I think I own fewer shoes than madam!

chilledmama · 26/01/2009 22:30

Dinkymum-congratulations on your new addition and definatley on positive birth experience!

Really need to catch up properly but must go and have a big glass of water then go to bed.

Started ML now which is brilliant but have so much to do and can't be arsed...nesting doesn't really happen for me
Have garden wax and pedicure booked for tomorrow afternoon so need to take it easy in morning as will make afternoon a rush to get to DS for nursery finishing...

bought loads of shopping today including a potty for DS...he's not ready to potty train but seems to think they are good fun so got one in ASDA (£1). He sat on it for about 10 minutes before bathtime and kept saying weewee poo...if only he knew what either of those were

TinkerBellesMumandFiFi2 · 26/01/2009 22:51

I?m really pleased, Sîan fed lying down this morning for the first time, normally at night she likes me to sit up and lie her on my lap, leaning over her. Obviously this is awful on my back and I don?t get to sleep. I?ve kept trying lying on my side and last night she managed it, not only that we both fell asleep and I woke up to find she had relatched herself!

MW came out today, Sîan has lost 1lb but we?re not too worried because of what happened at the weekend and it was a different set of scales. She wasn?t impressed about the hospital; them trying to admit me; that they told me off for syringe feeding (?what did they want you to do? Give her a beaker??); or that they told me I needed to go out and get a bottle, she agreed with me that it?s better to not have one in the house if you don?t plan on using them.

Mum picked Tink up from the childminder and she (CM) told her that she had taken Tink to her friend?s house who has a daughter of a similar age. Apparently this girl is a little bossy and not a nice little girl, she said that this girl met her match in Tink! Without being nasty she stood up for herself and didn?t allow this girl to boss her around. The CM said she would have been pleased if Tink had smacked the girl but she can stand up for herself without it Mum pointed out that she has five cousins who are all quite loud so she?s well used to standing up for herself.

Funny how my baby is due next week and my body seems to have noticed, I was nesting yesterday and I?ve been clearing out too

Oh and my back is killing in a cross between yesterday?s nesting and Tesco only having one scooter working and that had a flat battery so I had to walk around

Laidback sounds wonderful! Actually I can?t complain, my parents are fantastic and his don?t really bother with us.

Herb she looks lovely! How is life with a newborn going?

To those of you listening in to your baby, there is a change in the heart rate during contractions, I think that?s what would worry the hospital, do you know when it?s a normal increase, how high it should go compared to a distressed baby?

Pempe how annoying! You?d think with the distance they wouldn?t mess you around so much.

Neerly one thing that I was told to remember with PGP is the irony of keeping your knees together will help if paracetamol doesn?t help, try it as a course as though it was AB or something, then try co-codamol, again as a course. If that doesn?t work you need a prescription for something stronger.

Catstar what is it with men? Mine thinks he needs lots of time out, he goes to work and doesn?t see that is time out from the house whereas I?m here all the time looking after his two daughters and unable to go anywhere and I don?t get to go out with friends or have a weekend away.

LBB I?ve never heard of that before, what a cool idea! Glad they were able to get some money to you.

Coco I was booked for 38 weeks. It depends why they want to do the CS. They didn?t want me to labour on my scar so they booked me in earlier, if they don?t mind and are happy for you to go into labour first they will book you in later. I think the piece of rope is probably not necessary if you don?t have any other problems, it took me a week to be able to move alone but I was suffering from my back and that?s what gave me the problems, first time I was fine after a couple of days and that was with a bad back (but not as bad as it is now).

mumoverseas · 27/01/2009 04:11

morning all, no more arrivals? No one heard from IDBI?

Pempe, what a pain for you and DH. Thats one of the problems being overseas and a long way from everything. Not too long now though.

LLB,how on earth did you snap his card? Pretty good how bank sorted out him getting money, never heard of that before.

MrsY, must go and look for that shoe thread. I'm a bit like you when it comes to shoes but am gutted I can't do a count at the moment as the majority of mine are back in the UK (although saying that I've probably got about 20 pairs here in Saudi). I did have a bit of a count a few years ago with DD and we stopped when we got to 50... The way I look at it, no matter how much weight I put on, or lose (mainly put on!) my shoes still fit

TBM, good to see you are training the litte love ref feeding. Can't have been easy on you/your back/you sleep having to sit up all the time.

Anyone heard from lardy after her nasty fall a few days ago? hope she is ok.

Right, off to get DD ready for nursery so the houseboy can walk her down. DH has also booked for carpet cleaners to come in this morning and do the lounge and dining room carpet which was disgusting. Very odd the price they are charging, 153 saudi riyals. 153? weird figure. Exchange rate is really bad at the moment, around 5 riyals to the pound whereas 2 months ago (and for the last 3 years I've been here its been 7 to the pound) getting expensive to live here now

Ref Wisley, meet up there in summer sounds fabulous. I used to go there occasionally when my mother stayed and they do really yummy cake (mind you we will probably all be dieting by then!) We are just trying to sort out dates for me to return to the UK which is harder than we first thought. Originally I was going to fly back towards the end of May for DD's (the one in UK) half term. However now we will have LO too DH doesn't want me flying back on my own with him and DD and prefers me to wait and fly back with DS who will be a huge help on flight. Trouble is, we can't find out when he can leave school after his GCSE's. School keep giving us different dates which is a pain and no he seems to think he can't leave until the school breaks up on 1st July which seems odd if he doesn't have any exams after mid June. I want to escape before July.

Right, really am going now, look forward to more new arrivals soon!

littlesez · 27/01/2009 06:40

Yeah! another baby congratulations to herbgarden, amy and family xxx

MarkStretch · 27/01/2009 07:59

Morning all.

Midwife came yesterday and took my bp which was 140/100 so she sent me up to delivery. Her words were 'if they offer you the chance to get him out today I would take it!' so we frantically threw bags in the car and arranged childcare for dd.

Got into hospital and bp had come down slightly, the put me on the CFM and baby was a bit sleepy but ok. Then they noticed I was contracting every 5 minutes. This went on for a couple of hours. Then the Dr came and said we could go home and come back today as we have scan and consultant booked.

Midwife on delivery offered me an internal to see if the contractions were doing anything, but then withdrew her offer as she said if I had had a show then there was a risk of infection.

So DH and I came home, walked for and hour and a half, ate a curry and had sex......and the contractions went away again.

Cue me

So we are back up the hospital again today...

(DD is furious the baby hasn't come, she had told her entire class the baby was coming)

MarkStretch · 27/01/2009 08:00

I WANT HIM OUT NOW

Pempe · 27/01/2009 08:02

morning everyone, hope you're all ok
Have woken up this morning feeling completely unrefreshed due to upstairs neighbours having loud, exuberant, bum-slapping sex last night. What a lovely way to be roused in the wee hours.

Any babies or exciting contractions for anyone?

Pempe · 27/01/2009 08:04

Ooooh MS good luck for today. Fingers crossed.

mumoverseas · 27/01/2009 08:09

MS, good luck, hope he comes soon. Try everything today, pineapple, hot bath, hot sex, hot curry? Hope it works.

Pempe, maybe your neighbours are trying to get a baby out too?

Pempe · 27/01/2009 08:27

MOS not sure if spanking is doctor-recommended....surely that's sending the baby the wrong way?

mumoverseas · 27/01/2009 08:37

and potentially child abuse?

rosieposey · 27/01/2009 08:46

Oh MS what a pain ( try and keep calm because of your bp! ) Really can sympathise with the 'i want him out now' Good luck for today though

LittleMissNorty · 27/01/2009 09:01

Good luck for today MS

Have caught up but forgotten everything I was going to say ....baby brain!!

Bum-slapping sex....god, sounds far too energetic...what a way to get woken up You still in Athens Pempe? You staying there now till LO comes along?

MW today for another BP check, but thankfully, she comes to the house now and I don't need to haul myself and DD out to the clinic.....fingers crossed I don't need to go to DAU again....can't face that today.

LBB - good news about induction....hopefully has put your mind at rest..

Might have to go back to bed soon....

dinkystinky · 27/01/2009 09:04

MS - sounds like he's on his way out. Best of luck for today!

Pempe - hmm, noisy neighbour sex - nice (bet its making you even more homesick)... curiously enough I was kept awake by sex last night too - 2 bloody urban foxes mating in the street outside our house for hours in the middle of the night (everytime I was about to throw something at them they moved to behind a car as well so didnt have a clear line of fire)...

MrsY, LMN - good luck with your appointments today...

littleboyblue · 27/01/2009 09:08

Morning all, still here and still up the duff. Crampings stopped just after midnight. Did think about doing the bath test, but thought better not incase it was real thing and waters went and I didn't realise.......They said I won't be encouraged to bath too often now (will obviously still shower )
chilled what a bargin, potty for £1. That's how I plan to start ds get one before he's ready and just 'practise' and have it around so he gets used to it.

The cash thing was a bit strange, I thought he was having me on when he said he had a magic code to use....He got the cash and left £150 on my nightstand this morning. I woke up and felt like Julia Roberts!!
I am a bit heavy handed and rammed the card into the chip and pin machine whilst I was hooking the shopping bags over the pushchair
TBM Fantastic about Sian's feeding, def sounds like she's getting the hang of it. And go Tink!!!! Good girl for sticking up for herself
MS Good luck today, hope they can get bub out sooner rather than later. If just for your dd's sake

dinkystinky · 27/01/2009 09:09

Oh my god - have you seen in the news about a woman delivering OCTUPLETS in California (she thought they were septuplets)??? How is that even possible?

littleboyblue · 27/01/2009 09:11

OMG dinky. Here's us with one, could you imagine carrying/delivering 8!!!!!

laidbackinengland · 27/01/2009 09:15

Good Luck MS !

Looking forward to baby news....

The text/phone calls have started here already and I am only 4 days overdue ! " Any news?" " Have you had that baby yet? "... Very annoying. Otherwise am feeling quite relaxed and still enjoying a bit of a pause before the baby arrives.

mumoverseas · 27/01/2009 09:16

EIGHT! bloody hell, are they ok? I miss having 'proper' news here. Sometimes I long for a real newspaper

McDreamy · 27/01/2009 09:20

Just heard that on the news too!

MS I have my fingers crossed for you today - how frustrating

Really hoping that some of you ladies with on/off crampings/contractions etc meet your babies really soon.

DH has gone off for his over night stay this morning. Hoping nothing kicks off for me just yet. My new kitchen floor is being laid as I type - hopefully kitchen back to normal today
