MS - me too re the weeing
McD - me too re Obama
Loved Arethra singing the national anthem as well.

LBB - i would use cream rather than shaving as small cuts could get nasty infection in hospital, just a thought...

Congratulations Ooogs!!

littleboyblue · 20/01/2009 18:34

idbi That is true, didn't think of that........Right will get scissors out for a trim and get some cream tomoz I think. Thank you! I don't need any more infections of any kind whatsoever!!!!

herbgarden · 20/01/2009 18:35

KT good - that's more like it - I went to the library yesterday and stocked up (our library stocks most of the latest bestsellers so it's fab) and have even put a trilogy in my hospital bag (I'll be in a few days).....

LBB - I agree with you on the empty threats line.....although DS had a bit of an out of character moment last week when we went to the soft play and kicked an older boy for no apparent reason.I was mortified, he was hysterical but it was chucking it down and I couldnt' face taking him home again. I told him to say sorry and he's usually really good but refused.I felt soooo embarassed - apologised to mum etc but we went in . DS then kept asking where the little boy was so he could say sorry....not my normal approach as I'm pretty strict but since I've got this pg parenting authority has gone out the window a bit

littleboyblue · 20/01/2009 18:42

Me too herb tbh, ds has been getting away with a lot more than he normally would or that I originally intended at this age due to pregnancy, but I haven't got the energy to do things as properly as I'd like all of the time. I don't expect people to leave parks or play centres or anything for aggressive behaviour at this age at all, having the parent telling them it's wrong/naughty etc is sufficient, but if you do make the threat, follow it through. I didn't mind at all that the boy stayed in the park, it is a public place after all, I just think it sends mixed messages to both children (not that my ds is at a stage of that kind of understanding) aqnd I wonder how this dad ever expects his son to behave in a manner he is happy with? Oh well, not my place to judge I suppose.
Saying all this, I did it at the meet the other day, ds was throwing Catstar's dd's books on the floor (cs was kind enough to let him look at them) and I told him of he did it again he wouldn't get the book back, he did it again I put book on my lap out of sight and when he started screaming again, I gave it back to make life easier in the hope he'd stop so I've done the same as this dad haven't I?

idontbelieveit · 20/01/2009 19:01

i'm finding parenting a toddler extremely challenging at the moment. We had a tantrum this afternoon that lasted 1 and a half hours it's even worse cos i feel like i've wasted today and we only have 5 days left. I
t started cos i was feeding dd and heard the window cleaner arrive next door so wanted to shut the blinds so he didn't get a pregnant belly and boob combo. She didn't want mew to put her down while i shut them but i couldn't do it one handed.....then it was just unstoppable. Culminating in her following me upstairs when i had to go to the loo and weeing over every step, then attacking me while i tried to clean the stairs....oh man, i sound like a really shit parent now. I tried several times to get her to use the pot before this but she was too angry....
Feel better now i've vented. She's been such an angel for the last week or so as well, i wonder if the general stress of my appointment on monday and having my mum looking after her has effected her.

littleboyblue · 20/01/2009 19:07

idbi sorry you and dd have had a bad day. It must be quite hard for them though, they must be able to pick up on all our worries and anxieties add that to the fact that mummy has changed and them not knowing why and not knowing what's happening, it must all be so difficult for them. You don't sound like a shit parent at all!
Think we're all having a rough time being so late in pg and still trying to control toddlers, hopefully everything will settle down for everyone in a few weeks.

MarkStretch · 20/01/2009 19:26

Oooh I'm going to an NCT group for heavily pregnant ladies on Friday.

I loved my old NCT group.

I wonder if any of them are MN'ers. Should I should 'FANJO' or 'MOULDY SCANDAL' in the middle of drinking my latte?

dinkystinky · 20/01/2009 19:49

Evening all. God TBM, cant believe we got through the last thread in 10 days! Wonder how long this one will last...

Welcome KatieBlindsNest - hope all is going well with your pregnancy.

IDBI - sorry you've had such a challenging day today with your DD; hope tomorrow is one of the good days for you.

idontbelieveit · 20/01/2009 19:55

or affected her, for the pedants amongst us!

It is crazy how much anger she can spew forth at the moment. I managed to get her to snap out of it by calling her the scream monster and getting her to chase me around the kitchen. The problem with the humour approach is that you never address the behaviour issues properly, maybe they're too young for that though (i hope!).
Tomorrow WILL be a better day!

pinkspottywellies · 20/01/2009 19:58

Happy Birthday to yoooooooooooooooou, Spotty!!! Just covering all bases in case you miss my text or fb message

MS - how about mouldy fanjo

Congratulations Ooogs!! Another baby! It's all getting a bit real now. I might have to stop popping into this thread - you're scaring me!

Hope everyone's well. (By the way some people from the FB group have sent me a friend invite. I hope I don't offend anyone by declining but I'd only get confused as to who's who cause I don't really know you guys very well. I do appreciate being able to pop in and join in with you though )

spottyshoes · 20/01/2009 20:13

Hi Katieblirdsnest from a fellow 24th'er

Herb - your DS has excellent taste in names (not the Helerskelter one)

I pee, wipe, wait 5 seconds, pee again, wipe etc...repeating as necessary. It's a cleverer, less smelly take on MS's version

Talking of pee, I must give the new thread the obligatory
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

spottyshoes · 20/01/2009 20:17

Hi PSW, thanks. I haven't been on fB yet and haven't got a txt - we seem to have dodgy mobiles tho sometimes dont we. TBH I've had a pretty shit day today so going to bed now and start again tomorrow (may pretend it's my birthday again too!). See you at toddlers x

MarkStretch · 20/01/2009 20:33

I just sit around in urine stained pants.

pinkspottywellies · 20/01/2009 20:51

Oh about the wee thing. I find drinking more water helps (odd I know!) Last week I thought I was maybe heading for a UTI cause I was constantly needing to wee and it was only a dribble every time. I thought I'd try and flush it out and actually I didn't need to go any more often or anything but it just didn't hurt and I weed a decent amount.

mslucyisbeached · 20/01/2009 20:57

I wee like a horse

pinkspottywellies · 20/01/2009 20:57

What, standing over straw?

mslucyisbeached · 20/01/2009 21:04

oh yes.

give me a nice mouldy bed any day.

pluto · 20/01/2009 21:17

Congratulations Oooogggs. I expect you are wallowing in lovely post-birth bliss and snuggles - or sleeping - right now but we all look forward to hearing from you when the time is right.

Today I have: put 4 loads of DS's old baby clothes and bedding in the wash. Cleaned the car seat. Looked at all the pram covers I have washed and now forgotten how they go back on , cried at Obama's inauguration spent £189.00 on getting the oven fixed collected a little foam matress for the crib - result - I have been been doing extreme worrying about this, been to the loo about 15 times and met DS half way home from school - he walked home on his on for the first time and looked so pleased and proud when he got to our meeting point

Tomorrow I'm going to get acquainted with the iron and see the MW, who I expect will be sending off for a scan to confirm what we both alreadty now - baby is still laid back in transverse position and cs is on the agenda...

thehouseofmirth · 20/01/2009 21:19

Gosh, I go away for a couple of hours and there's not only a new thread but a new baby!

Congratulations Ooooggs! Can't wait to see some photos of the little chap!

Spotty happy birthday! Hope you had a good day.

Welcome Katieblirdsnest. I think we're neighbours - I'm in SW20.

Am 37 weeks tomorrow and beginning to hope Baby Father Christmas knows it's OK to emerge soon. I hve been so lucky with lack of annoying/unpleasant symptoms and still don't need to go to the loo in the night but am sick of waking up with achy hips and also I'm really not liking the way he spends each evening poking my lady bits.

MarkStretch · 20/01/2009 21:33

Can anyone else feel their baby doing 'practise' breathing?

Mines been doing it all night in between massive boughts of violent hiccups and I don't like it.

MarkStretch · 20/01/2009 21:33

Sorry that should say 'practice'

thehouseofmirth · 20/01/2009 21:36

I can't feel the breathing itself but can certainly feel the resulting hiccups which I thnk are quite cute!

MrsY · 20/01/2009 21:46

MS - I'm now pretty relieved that you didn't come to the meet - you might have weed on my cake!

I had a sniffle at the inauguration, but surely it wasn't the national anthem that Aretha sang - it was half our national anthem FFS!.

If I was ooogs, I'd of been tempted to use Barack as a middle name! What an historic day to be born!

I've had such a mad day. Every time I sat down the phone rang, or there was a knock at the door, or I needed a wee or I dropped something and had to spend fifteen minutes trying to bend down to pick it up!

Luckily my lovely husband came home and has been looking after me like an angel! I even got a footrub!

chilledmama · 20/01/2009 21:48

hiccups only cute for first minute or so then it just annoys me.

OOOOGGGGGSSSS-congratulations on new arrival.

Katieblirdsnest-welcome.

bedtime!!

littleboyblue · 20/01/2009 21:54

OMG, the hiccups, all of the time! I can't feel breathing either, just lots of hiccups and lots of very restricted movements iykwim.
I have the worst ache in my woo-woo, the only way to describe it is like when you first get into a new relationship and spend all weekend in bed with your new boyf, that kind of swollen achy feeling, also the pressure on my hips from the big belly is driving me mad!! Oh well, will all be worth it and quickly forgotten when I see that little boy.
Having a soppy moment where I'm picturing what he'll look like, if he'll look like me and my side like ds did or if he'll be more like his dad from day 1, thinking about how much different it'll be from last time, I didn't hold ds much at the hospital, it took a few days at home to fully hit that I'd had a baby. Imagine this time to be a bit different and as I know we'll prob have to stay in, I should think I'll take full advantage of it just being the 2 of us before we come home.
