When I clicked on the link for the lovely Belly Bandit I noticed the tab it opened was entitled New Mum Gifts. If anyone buys me that as gift after the baby is born I will beat them to death with it.

MarkStretch · 22/01/2009 22:15

DH is on the 5th of 6 night shifts and I am so bored of being on my own.

I would gladly swap the novelty of the whole bed to myself and all the pillows for an evening of adult conversation!

I just tried to paint my toenails by sitting right at the edge of the sofa, placing one foot on the birthing ball and flicking the nail varnish in the general direction of my toes. Fucking useless.

laidbackinengland · 22/01/2009 22:17

Evening all, no sign of baby here... due date tomorrow.Feeling nice and relaxed and well looked after by DH and my mum , who spent all day doing useful things like cleaning the computer screens, ironing and making chicken soup !

All my boys have long hair and I love it ! They have also been known to have hair slides and bunches at home for a bit of fun .My PIL think they look like girls (see my profile)...but I think they look like cool surf dudes .

LMN, glad they let you free at the hospital.

Any more news from Pempe ?

Ooggs, great that you and Luke are at home. Would love to see a picture and hear how it went when you are feeling up to it.

laidbackinengland · 22/01/2009 22:18

Mark Stretch - sounds like you need your Dh's excellent beautician skills ??

McDreamy · 22/01/2009 22:19

Ohh I have got a stinking cough and cold - sympathy hugs please but don't come too close

laidbackinengland · 22/01/2009 22:21

Big hug Mcdreamy (using industrial gauntlets to avoid contamination)

MarkStretch · 22/01/2009 22:22

Yes he has promised me painted nails and a shaved 'area' on Saturday night. And I want fish and chips with a gerkin now thanks to Mslucy!

Grump, grump, grump.

onwardandupward · 22/01/2009 22:29

er, ladies, I think we'd better stop talking. Not a sign of a baby on this thread yet, and we have promised to achieve at least 2.

lbb, back on that washing machine. Let's get your baby out as a matter of fab feb pride.

OP posts:
MarkStretch · 22/01/2009 22:32

Yeah but Onward- Pempe is off doing the business now and IDBI will be popping one out on Monday...

Can we keep talking now?

MarkStretch · 22/01/2009 22:33

OH AND BY THE WAY I MEANT TO TELL YOU ALL EARLIER THAT PINEAPPLES ARE ON OFFER IN SOMERFIELD!!

Forget the airmiles for once, they're on £1, think of your cervix...

littleboyblue · 22/01/2009 22:52

Haha O&U If my baby came now, we could have named this thread the one where they're all called Luke!

I went to bed an hour ago, but had to get up as my mind started going over everything that's happened over the past 9 months in terms of care from the NHS and now I have the fucking ump and want to scream from the roof tops!!!!!!!

Yes, Pempe and IDBI get a move on with those babies, and Oooggs give us all the lovely details on what it's like having your little man at home, def need some stories to make me smile.
Although picturing THOM beating someone to death with a belly bandit is quite amusing

MrsY · 22/01/2009 23:02

Hi all.

I HATE going to the hospital. My BP was 150 over 108 at the MW and it got higher at the DAU. There was no protein in my urine at the MW but in hospital an hour and a half later U had 2 +'s, so I now have to go in every other day. They took more blood to check for pre-eclampsia, again, and told me the warning signs of eclampsia and placental abruption (just to raise my BP even more). They think they might induce me, but either way, I think plans for a nice quiet home birth might as well be shelved!

Glad to hear that you're home as well, LMN - let's hope today was a bit of a blip!

LittleSez and herby and others discussing blocked noses - I spoke to my MW about it, and to a pharmacist, and they both said that actually the water vapours do more good than the menthol...

Anyway - I'm bloody shattered, so I'm off to bed - catch up with you guys tomorrow...

swampster · 22/01/2009 23:34

Belly laughs aplenty here - I'm sure MS must have namechanged and is on there somewhere.

MrsY, I got a humidifier here when I had terrible congestion, asthma and panic attack last winter - I think it saved my life! The one I have (Turmix) is out of stock, but loads of others.

mumoverseas · 23/01/2009 06:29

morning all, no new arrivals in the night then?
No news from Pempe?

Mrs Y & LMN, glad you are out although a pain having to keep going back. LMN, is it any wonder your BP goes up if you have all that crap just trying to park. I guess thats one positive thing about Saudi, I can't drive so its DH's problem and he just drops me off at the door and parks

Catstar, hope your DD gets better very soon, its terrible when they are ill and we are not 100% isn't it. Like you say, difficult to pick them up and cuddle them at the moment.

Thanks for whoever started the ham, eggs and chips craving. Thats one I just can't satisfy now Oh well, going to an aussie day barbie at lunchtime on the compound which should be good although I do get a bit suspicious about what exactly is in the sausages

hope everyone has a good day with not too many aches and pains

littleboyblue · 23/01/2009 08:06

MrsY How rubbish. Every other day? I suppose at least they'll catch anything quick if something does happen.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you though that you get your home birth.
Swamp Thanx for that guilty secret link. I've read 1st page, very funny, laughing out loud already! Off to read the rest before I have to take ds to play group.

littleboyblue · 23/01/2009 08:20

That guilty secret thread is a bit sick in places, no? Some very strange people out there. I have done a number of things I'm not proud of with a number of different people, but nothing involving twix-ice creams, and lolipops, what sickos!

LittleMissNorty · 23/01/2009 08:21

Morning all....

MrsY.....hope all is ok....I've woken up with a blinding headache and MW is now coming to me to do BP checks but I'm worried its going to be high and they're going to admit me....38 weeks in a couple of days so will probably deliver if they do...strange as I'm only a week away from my date anyway, but I'm mentally prepared for the 2nd Feb....not any other date (even though I had DD at 38+3).

DD has woken up with a runny nose and got the misery's....all I need.

Ham, egg and chips sounds scrummy....might have to do that for dinner, have a maple glazed ham joint in the fridge and a dozen organic eggs.....

Hope everyone else is OK.....keep calm LBB....don't want your BP going up!

MOS....can you not eat what you like when on compound and follow the rules off compound? Barbie sounds good....wet and cold here...

LittleMissNorty · 23/01/2009 08:21

A lot of it is bollocks I think LBB....good read though

KT1983 · 23/01/2009 08:24

MrsY Sorry to hear your having such a stressful time at the moment, but like lbb said, its good that they will be monitoring you closely, I know a pain in the arse, but better to keep Healthy & well for you and bubs xx

Still no sign of a baby from me - Although last night, I think I wee'd about 7 times in one hour - I was wondering what the hell was going on...
Not just little trickles but 'am I ever going to stop weeing wees!'

I also had a bit of a cry for no apparent reason last night. I think the new house, new enviroment - being bombarded by DP's family already is getting to me.
I know his family are only trying to be nice & help me settle in, but they are constantly on the phone, asking me over, wanting to call by blah blah blah. Im not used to it & I know when Little Miss arrives, its just going to get worse. Dp got very cross with me as he couldnt understand why I was blubbing soooooo much

Oh well, today is another day, off to the pool for a relaxing swim then im going to treat myself to coffee & cake in town. Chocolate Muffins always help the mood swings

Have a good day Ladies - Wishing all CS babies are firmly staying put & all those willing the days - Hoping we have some signs today x

littleboyblue · 23/01/2009 08:27

LMN The more I read the more I think, surely no one could actually do this, think about it, but no way do it!
Very funny in places though isn't it? Imagine if they all were true though? How can you have a twos-up with a bloke and his Dad?

I really giggled at all the, I turn my MSN status to offline so noone knows how much time I spend on, and I pretend I have to go to the toilet so I can eat choc in peace, etc etc, all the things most of us do (?)

LittleMissNorty · 23/01/2009 08:30

MMM I do that as well (MSN thing) and eat something in the kitchen so DD doesn't see me ....and spend far too much time on here.

I am bloody expert at doing a whole days housework between 4pm and 5.45pm when DH gets home from work, including lunch for the following day, preparing dinner and generally tidying....

mumoverseas · 23/01/2009 08:36

LMN, fingers crossed your BP isn't up when MW comes but at least she is coming to you and you don't have to go to the hospital. Take lots of deep breaths just before she arrives. I know what you mean about being set on your date now but I guess earlier would be a bonus?

shut up about the bloody ham! we can't get it here as its 'haram' (forbidden) Pork and alcohol are totally banned here, unlike in some of the other ME countries like Dubai/Bahrain. Occasionally people do drive to Bahrain and buy real bacon but its very risky smuggling it back to Saudi and we know of people who have been deported for smuggling back alcohol.

KT, have you managed to get out an meet anyone in your new area? Any ante-natal classes or have you found out about mums and tots for when LO arrives? You need to try to meet some new friends of your own (and then you can have an excuse when the in-laws want to pop round!)

MrsY · 23/01/2009 08:42

Morning all -

The annoying thing is I feel fine - although I've also woken with a headache. I don't mind the extra appointments, especially as most of them will be the MW coming to see me. I think because she's already a good size (!) they might well get things going early, but I'm only 35 + 5, so not really sure I'm ready to be a mum. Having said that, I'm desperate to meet her!

Plus each consultant says something different, so who knows what the decision will be - I really don't want to be in hospital until my due date, which was one option suggested yesterday...

Swampy that thread is hilarious! Spit-roasts with footballers, snogging Bill Clinton and peoples DC's not being there partners? Oh my! I feel rather inadequate!

mumoverseas · 23/01/2009 08:47

Mrs Y, maybe yours and LMN's headaches are due to stress? I know its a real pain when you have bad headaches and can only take paracetamol. I find they don't work for me so I use tiger balm which I just rub on my forehead and that works. Not sure if you can get that in the UK but you can use other stuff from the chemists (something called 4head) I think or other herbal remedies. Might be worth a try if you can get it.

KazzaL · 23/01/2009 08:48

LMN - hope everything goes ok today, I always feel a bit guilty that I;ve had 2 really easy pgs with only SPD to contend with. But then that make me a bit annoyed that DH hasn't had to cope with me taking residence by the loo for the first few months and all the other things. He just doesn't appreciate how easy he's had it.

catstar - fingers crossed your LO has improved overnight, sounds pretty serious, just what you don't need when you are this pg.

everyone i wokr with (the whole company + all the financial advisers) have gone to london today from all over the country for our annual company meeting at the O2. I politely declined to attend unless they could find a way to get me there (from Gloucestershire) so I would have access to the loo all the way

swampster the belly bandit looks like some medieval torture, why would any woman put herself through that
