Yes, another one who doesnt like the new format much.

Kay - good luck with that form, why on earth do they make them so long and complicated?

LBOT - I have just found a way round my ban. I have a friend who is on a snow day so we are meeting for coffee. Apparently I am allowed out if I am supervised . Honestly. I do know though if I just go out regardless sods law I probably would fall and hurt myself and with my dodgy back and hips I'm not the best walker right now in normal conditions.

lastboxoftampons · 02/02/2009 14:03

Oooh, yeah, PLaying I just remembered about your SPD. At the risk of sounding like our overprotective families (my mom is now emailing me telling me the same!) do try to be careful!

Our building is closing in a half hour, so I'm off home for some cocoa and the TV!

LaTourEiffel · 02/02/2009 14:10

NJ where do they learn these things? I guess your DS1 has a bit to answer for?! DS is just simply gorgeous at the moment, starting to ask to use a potty for a wee in the mornings too.

Can I borrow everyone's 'already a mum' experience and ask about the whole, graduating-a-toddler-from-a-bed experience? Everyone / thing I've spoken to / read says leave it until they're climbing out (it'll never happen, he's too idle, that's what he's got mum for) So when do I do it or do I just leave him in until I need the cot space? He's 2.2 btw.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 02/02/2009 15:17

Hello

Still snowing here, reckon we will be completely snowed in by tomorrow!

Although, I am very impressed, had a delivery of nursery furniture planned today and it arrived, poor delivery drivers looked a bit exhausted! Very impressive customer service!!!

Latour, hope someone can help with your toddler to bed query.

NatalieJane · 02/02/2009 15:34

Hoorah, I've made it back twice in a day, figured anyone deserves a MN break after going out there, it's like a blizzard, worst I've ever seen it in all the years of being here, normally takes less than two minutes from our door to the school door, today more than 10 minutes, I was very nearly late!

GYo furniture arrived, very exciting It all get's very real when they already have their own little space in your house!

Tink, enjoy your drive out, be careful though!

La Tour, not sure I'll be much help with cot to bed thing, DS1 never (and I do mean NEVER) had a full night in his cot, we bought him one of those kids beds that looked like a fire engine when he was about 18 months (it had built up sides so he couldn't fall out) in a bid to get him out of our bed, it still never worked, he was about 4 I think by the time we could safely rely on him to stay in his bed! And DS2 is still in his cot, though must admit the question has been playing on my mind as to when to get them bunk beds, he likes to get into DS1's bed for a cuddle with him just before we put him in his cot, and we can see from that he has no idea where the edge of the bed is, so not sure I'm brave enough he's quite ready yet!

Looks like my break is over, again!

See you again at some point.... probably when the kids have grown up and left home.....!

LaTourEiffel · 02/02/2009 15:53

I'm so pleased I spent ten minutes defrosting my car this morning...I don't think I said that I skated drove half way up my road and then thought, I'll just ring the garage and check they've sorted the courtesy car out, before I make this trek, and lo and behold, they couldn't find my booking anyway...so I came back home.

Now I'll have to spend another ten to fifteen minutes defrosting the car again to go get DS in a bit.

It would be nice to get him early so that I could take him out into the snow for a little bit - wish I could find his blasted wellies!

kayzr · 02/02/2009 16:17

LaTour DS1 is in his bed now and he is 2 in March. He goes to bed brilliantly, but he sometimes gets out of his bed in the night.

Starshinetiger · 02/02/2009 16:24

What a funny day here. Trip to station first thing. Was then working and just finished conference call when childminder dropped DS off - he was inconsolable and had really pussy eye, so I thought - ah well, a reason I didn't get to go into London today. Seems he has conjunctivitis in right eye and seeing as premolars are coming through, which gives him runny nose and sore bottom the little man is really going through the mill. Ah well, have antibiotics for eyes now - trust DH to notice that the name of antibiotics is Fucit(halmic) - no brackets in real one obviously.

LaTour - still grinning about your BFP! On the bed thing, you might find it just goes really smoothly. DS started potty training early Oct and then a week later we went on hols - he was too big for travel cot, so we had just booked ordinary bed - we got a bed guard thing which we took with us and he's been in a bed ever since. I don't think he was ever going to try to climb out of cot and he still doesn't get out of bed on his own accord - just shouts for us, which is good in its own way. We had a cotbed, so it's just his cot converted to bed, but at both his Nanny's houses he sleeps in ordinary sized bed but still with bedguard on. Hope that helps.
We're due 8-10 inches (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) tonight - so we'll see what tomorrow looks like. Right, had better concentrate on DH and DS if I'm not actually working!

Astarte · 02/02/2009 18:06

kayzr · 02/02/2009 18:17

I've just woken up DH went to the shop and I was sat on the sofa with DS1. DH came home to find us both cuddled up fast asleep. That was at about half 4!!!

LaTourEiffel · 02/02/2009 20:08

Oh Kay, you must have needed that! How lovely to snuggle up with DS1, I bet DS1 enjoyed it too

DH is cooking pasta, DS and I made bolognese sauce, DS helped stir and mangled up some mushrooms (I peeled he 'chopped') figured the size and dimensions probably isn't important so in they went!

ohsnap · 02/02/2009 20:10

I got my wish, we have about 1" of snow and it's still falling The girls have had a lovely time playing in it, DD2 has been much better today but her temp started creeping up again at teatime I don't know what's causing it, tis a mystery

for your poor DS Star, conjunctivitis is a bugger isn't it?

LaTour, we put DD1 in to a big bed when she was almost exactly 2 because she was climbing out, but DD2 is still in her cot at 23.5 months and doesn't climb out even though I always leave the side down so she can. I think we'll leave her in until either she starts climbing out or when she's too big for it. It's easier for me if she stays in a cot for longer, I know she's not going to fall out and it's less washing for me!

Where's LB? If you're there lurking I hope you got on ok at teh Dr today.

Oh, and LaTour?...........

Congratuations!

kayzr · 02/02/2009 20:11

It was lovely, he normally wriggles too much to have a proper cuddle.

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 02/02/2009 20:52

Hi! Hope everyone's enjoying the snow. We had 11" at 10am and it then carried on snowing all day until about 7pm!

Kay - what a lovely way to spend a winter afternoon!!

LaTour - I'm still for you!!

Ohsnap - hello!! Glad you got a bit of snow. Guess it's even more unusual down your way than it is here in Surrey!

Star - in all the years I've been dispensing fucithalmic, I'd never noticed that about it's name! I'll never think of it in the same way again! Bit like the tablets for heart failure that are in the shape of a heart but if you turn them upside down they look like someone's backside! Always makes me chuckle....

NJ - good to "see" you! Please ensure your DSs realise how important MN is! We miss you when you're not around!

tink - hope you made it to Tesco ok

LB - hope things with you are ok and that you saw your GP and got some reassurance.

Playing - I'm with you on the new MN - just not so user friendly. Can't really see any benefits!!??!

Hello everyone else - GYo, LBOT, Diege, Gruff, Astarte, Cosmo, Glask, and.....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2BG!!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 02/02/2009 21:16

Hello Ses! Did you have a nice snowy day- love your wintery garden photos We took a few that i should upload.

Hello Ast, Ohsnap and anyone else who has popped on tonight! >

Im feeling rather useless tonight.. - DH getting on doing nursery and I've not done any of it, feeling rather left out! A;l probably for the best since he is doing DIY stuff that makes me knackered just thinking about it! He is great for getting on with it, ensuring its done and isnt complaining but I just want to help and he wont let me - tells me to go away! Suppose he might feel its his contribution- I am growing baby, he is making its room...

Diege · 03/02/2009 08:42

Morning! Did catch up last night but now of course have forgotten most of it! Good to hear from you NAT - we do miss you! Thanks for the boy congrats - still sinking in here (dh thinks he has been very clever )though the purchase of boy clothes is very much making it seem more real! We have also sort of decided on a name. Dh is set on 'Benjamin', which I have to say I do like (esp Ben)but probably not as unusual as my forst choice would have been (I like names that no-one else seems to - Felix, Noah, Theodore). At least I have my middle name choice (Llewellyn - I'm Welsh and it's my dad's middle name). So Benjamin Llewellyn for now!
LB, hope you are ok - have been thinking about you, and hope you got to see the GP.
SES, can't believe you had so much snow! . My work sent an e-mail round saying people should leave early at their discretion - so of course the place was emoty by 3pm . Rained in the night so only bits on lawns etc left now.
Has being pregnant sunk in yet LATOUR?? .
Morning to everyone else!

lardybump · 03/02/2009 08:48

Morning all.....

Went to gp and he had a look. Could see the discharge and took some swabs. I have to go back on Thursday to get results and any treatment... He was very nice and put me at ease so dont think it is anything major...

Lovely name diege....

playing after my fall I am not aloud out the house unless dp is with me (at weekends only) as spd is making me far to unstable and cant risk another fall.... I want to play in the snow as well.....

kayzr · 03/02/2009 08:59

Morning,

LB, Glad your gp was nice. Sorry you can't play in the snow. I know when we had it before xmas I stayed in except for my MW appointment as I was worried about walking on it with my spd. Did you have it with DD?

Diege, It is the same here. If you look out of out front room window you would never know it snowed all day yesterday.

Diege · 03/02/2009 09:12

Hi LB! Glad you got your appointment and was reassured .
KAYZ, we're forcast more snow Thurs/Fri. The dds are disappointed that it's 'gone' but still feel there's enough left on the neighbour's lawn to scrape together a snowman tonight!

lardybump · 03/02/2009 09:18

Still lots of snow here.... I had no SPD with dd kays infact i had no problems at all. I loved being pg and glowed all the way through.... I was still working 14 hour days upto 2 weeks before she was born...... This pg has been so differnt and so much harder.... Still Karma says that the labour is going to be a brease as with dd it was a nighmare.....

kayzr · 03/02/2009 09:26

Same here LB. I loved it with DS1. I finshed working at 35 weeks but only because I had holidays I needed to take. But with DS2 I was exhausted all the way through, had SPD and awful heartburn.

We have also decided with the HV that I was probably on the borderline of gestational diabetes. I didn't have enough sugar in my blood to have it but must have been just under it.

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 03/02/2009 09:29

Morning all!

LB - glad your GP was understanding and reassuring. Hope it all calms down for you.

Diege - Benjamin Llewellyn is great

Kay - did DS1 sleep ok last night after his afternoon nap?

As for the snow... DH still couldn't move his car this morning so looks like we're set for another day at home. The snow hasn't disappeared at all and every so often we get another lot fall. I'm going to venture out at some point to the petrol station round the corner to see if I can get some bread and other basics as we're running out!!

kayzr · 03/02/2009 09:42

Yeah he did actually Ses. He woke us up at 7 by playing in the bathroom with his bath toys. We were quite surprised.

BTW your dogs are so cute and I am so jealous of all your snow!!

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 03/02/2009 09:47

Just noticed that you'd seen my piccies on FB! I think the dogs are cute too (but then I'm biased!) That having been said, I wouldn't go near dogs until 4 yrs ago when I met DH and he already had Jessie (the balck and white one). It was a case of love me, love my dog and then when we moved in together we got Lucy as a puppy and I was smitten

Snow might start to disappear today - I've just spotted a small patch of blue sky!
