Astarte · 31/01/2009 11:10

Morning...only just.

Have a birthday party today so busy trying to get a present etc.
Dh is grouting I do dislike seeing them with nothing to do

Glask I'm glad you can see the positives re: the rehoming of your cat.

I have my massages booked for Friday. I can't quite get my head round the fact we'll be in February tomorrow eek!

Hope you all have nice weekends.

Diege · 31/01/2009 12:45

That's great news KAYZ, I'm so pleased for you .
ASTARTE, is your massage to do with inducing labour, or just a well-deserved treat?
Have had a bit of a tidying frenzy this morning and feeling shattered but can only see more and more mess! I think I'll attack one 'problem area' a day, so that I don't feel overwhelmed!

tinkhashertinklet · 31/01/2009 16:20

Hi everyone. Gosh this thread moves fast! I only posted about 24 hours ago and I've had to read through three pages to catch up.

IDOB - sorry about your spa day. It's peculiar, though, isn't it - suddenly to have to adjust to being a pregnant woman and think about what you can and can't do. DH was about to sprint down to the garage last night for our usual Friday bottle of wine until I suddenly thought "Hang on...."

Nice quiet day today. DH is out with his dad, so I've been lurking in the library and in Waterstones reading all the pregnancy books....

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 31/01/2009 18:38

Phew!
I have cleaned bathroom, emptied 3 boxes still waiting from when we'd moved house, dusted & vacuumed all upstairs and sorted out some books.
DH has cleaned kitchen, walked the dogs, sorted recycling and done some gardening.

Once I'd done all my jobs, I had a nice warm bath.

We're now off for pub dinner.

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Diege · 01/02/2009 08:30

Morning!! I have date with Nadal in the Aus open final, but will be back on when we've finished our business (I wish!!).

lardybump · 01/02/2009 09:06

morning hope you are all well. I dont think I had a show I think I may have an infection .

TMI Alert please excuse the following, and dont read if having your breakfast:

My knickers are wet in the evening but I dont think it is waters as I can not feel it coming out. Also it is slightly yellow/green and smells!!!! Also when I go to wee there are little white bits in it....

I have midwife on Thursday so will be bringing it up with her.....

Anyway now I have made you all feel sick I will leave you in peace for a while and get my breakfast.........

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 01/02/2009 09:39

Morning- LB- i'd say if you think its an infection get it seen to earlier than thursday as they can cause bleeding etc... I'm sure it can be more damage to baby than to you... not wanting to scare you but my sister had 2 while pg and both times was put on AB's within 24 hrs of showing signs, she had bleeding as a sign too, but still had an infection, maybe best to be seen.

DH is off today so we have a few things to do, he's fitted the DC's new light shade already and is entertaining them on the sofa while watching the footy highlights!! Then we need to go to asda for some nappies and wipes as its baby week so they have exellent offers on- like 8 packs of huggies pure wipes for only £5!!! and i may also see if there are any other bargains to be had.

kayzr · 01/02/2009 09:59

Morning,

I had an awfully wierd dream last night. I was pg with twins and ended up giving birth in Glask's dining room with was lime green with a bright pink table!!! I must go to bed earlier than 1 in the morning.

Astarte · 01/02/2009 11:25

The white bits could be vernix LB, you need to go to the hospital and get checked out. Pop a pad on and see if you leak without going to the toilet, should smell sweet.

With the BH you've been having and the show I'd ay you were on your way!

Good Luck!

Astarte · 01/02/2009 11:35

Diege it's a bit of both.
Indian head for relaxation, full body (as much as anyway) for lymph drainage as I'm starting to retain a little water in my feet and the reflexology to set things in motion.

Can I have a quick poll ladies?

M/w has said they can offer me a sweep at 39 weeks onwards, which is Tuesday. My next CMW appt is at 40+1 but I could request a sweep before then, ask to be seen.

WWYD? Ring and ask them to do a VE this week, ask whether they'll do a sweep at 40+1, or leave it and wait and see when she turns up?

kayzr · 01/02/2009 11:42

I would want a sweep Astarte. I was so bloody fed up by the end I would have jumped at the chance for a sweep.

DH has decided to try and retrain as an electrican. He has said he'd like to retrain then move to New Zealand!! I don't think it will happen unless we win the lottery but it is fun looking at the house in NZ, they are completely different to houses you see here.

GruffaloSoldier · 01/02/2009 11:53

Morning all!

Diege - enjoy your time with Nadal

Astarte - I would go for the sweep. But then again I am really impatient!

Hi Glask - I was thinking of going to baby event at Asda too. DH is planning our day and it involves lots of clearing out but Im hoping we will fit that in.

Kayz - we had a very late night too as had friends over for dinner but I slept so solidly I cant even remember any dreams. I even slept through two alarms!

New Zealand would be fab Kayz, thats definitely on my list of places to visit. Id rather go there than Australia! Its good to have dreams and goals even if they seem unobtainable

kayzr · 01/02/2009 12:06

It does look amazing. Some of the houses have amazing views of mountains covered in snow.

GruffaloSoldier · 01/02/2009 12:11

My friend and DH emigrated there a year ago but came back after a year as missed family over here too much. Her dh was from NZ though.

kayzr · 01/02/2009 12:13

My cousin has been offered a job in Australia but he doesn't know if he is going to go as his girlfriend isn't to keen on the idea. I think I would go and then if I didn't like it, I could just come home.

GruffaloSoldier · 01/02/2009 12:32

Yeah definitely - you just dont know how you would be until you try!

tinkhashertinklet · 01/02/2009 13:51

morning

saw midwife dd2 weighs 8lbs7.5ozs so above birth weight
so have been signed over to hv now who comes on thursday.
midwife checked my stitches etc all good

new zealand looks beautiful i luv mountains etc

GruffaloSoldier · 01/02/2009 14:00

morning tink! that sounds good then, well done to both of you!

Diege · 01/02/2009 14:24

Afternoon! Nadal was great . Really, a wonderful match although dds weren't quite so convinced .

LB, I would get that infection checked out. It sounds a bit like thrush which I've always had myself throughout pregnancy (moreso at end) and recall the white bits in wee, as well as strong yeasty smell . Best to get it checked out and treated, as if it is thrush (while harmless) will get passed on to baby who may get it in their mouth.
ASARTE, I am a wimp and maybe because I've never got beyond 39 weeks (so never had that 'get it out of here' feeling) would try and avoid sweep. I get quite anxious towards the end about labour, and don't want it to start any earlier than it has to!

KAYZ, I hear NZ is beautiful, though if it's snow topped mountains you want then come to Wales

TINKS, good news about Bracken . Always good to get passed over to the HV, though don't have a lot of time for them myself! (long story).

Hi GRUFF! Hope you feel rested after your long sleep . Dh is just back from Lake District so hoping to get a nap after v.early start with dds.

Oh and a coupke of questions that someone might know the answer to?
First, can anyone recommend a good book on labour, esp one that looks at it as a natural process, birth as non-medicalised etc?? OK, so no doubt will be having epidural no.4, but at least want to dip my toe in the natural/active birth waters and see what all the fuss is about

Second, my placenta at the scan was anterior, and have been reading that it's linked to breech babies? Does anyone know anything about anterior placentas?
Right, still in dressing gown, better make a move!!

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 01/02/2009 14:26

Hello all

Diege - your man did well!

Tink - that's great that Bracken's above her birth weight!

Kay - both Australia and NZ seem beautiful and appealing but each in v different ways. Nice to have dreams and you never know what might happen!

DH and I are planning a wkend in London. Ok, I know it's not that far for us but he's said he'll pay for us to go and see a show and then stay the night in a hotel for my birthday in a few weeks time. I've been looking on lastminute.com and they've got The Mousetrap tickets so we may do that.

Astarte · 01/02/2009 14:34

Glad everyone is okay

I'm not sick of being pg yet, weirdly, just pootling along really. In previous pg's once I've hit 37 weks I've been restless to start labour, but I really do think that the Natal Hypnotherapy cd is the reason I'm still quite calm and patient about it all.
I highly recommend it!

I think I'm going to wait until she comes on her own.

Diege I would say 2 books are worth looking at:
Sheila Kitzinger's, Birth your Way.
Janet Balaskas, Active Birth.

GruffaloSoldier · 01/02/2009 15:14

Diege - I would say anythhing by Sheila Kitzinger! I have 'The Experience of Childbirth' and have found it very good.

Ses - hiya!Me and Dh are hoping to go and see Thriller in a dew weeks before baby comes along. We got theatre tickets for xmas off family. we were actually going to book today!sounds god. its a good chance to do things that will all of a sudden be a bit more complicated in about 10 weeks time for us

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 01/02/2009 15:24

Hi Gruff
You're so right - seems v easy to pop up to the West End at the moment but that will all soon change

It's v cold and windy here, although the snow has stopped falling. I've lit a fire so feel quite snug now.

I'm 26 weeks today. The 2nd trimester is going so quickly!
