regarding symptom spotting

i had bubbling abdomen instead of usual period pain, bleeding gums, just knew i was

kayzr · 28/01/2009 13:14

I need your advice.

I really want to go to Crufts. We went last year and I loved it sooooo much but Mum isn't going this year and of course I can't drive. DH doesn't want to go but is more than happy for me to go alone providing he isn't laid off today.

I will need to either get a taxi to Leeds for 7am or stay in Leeds overnight on the Friday. There is a coach from Leeds for £36 including admission. Then I will need to get a bus from Leeds to Malton, then a taxi home. I'm just a bit about coming home alone late at night on the bus. But I do really want to go.

What would you do?

lardybump · 28/01/2009 13:27

I have a quick question for all you cervix searchers (ohsmap and astarte I believe thats you) I am going to try and use my EPO caps tonight and I need to insert them close to my cervix, I have never been able to find my cervix and am having trouble now.

Someone suggested using a tampon applicator (but removing the tampon and putting the capsule in instead) will this do it?????

Sorry you are having such bad pains astarte is it siatica (sp?) hope it eases soon.

Star I know how you feel about LO's pushing bounderies at the moment dd is being a pickle too...

lardybump · 28/01/2009 13:31

Kay that does seem a lot of expence and effort for one day........

kayzr · 28/01/2009 13:38

I know, getting the train works out to be about £60. I might just have to wait until next year.

Astarte · 28/01/2009 13:40

Nope not sciatica LB. Pain is shooting upwards into my foof/bum

Ooh, cervix rummaging, a topic I like. I'm always rather interested in other people's too weirdly!

Wash hands thoroughly, squat on floor. 2 fingers under bump and up inside as high as you can physically go. Should feel a bit squishy with a hole of about 1cm in it.
Snip the capsule top off and reinsert fingers to place the oil.

Some women find it easier to stand with one foot on the toilet, but obv this requires a bit more balance.

OR......get Dh to do it for you

I have spoken to Dh today and told him I'm going to explain to him how to sweep my cervix at the weekend and then get him to do it for me.....he sounded horrified! hehehehe!

Not worth it for me Kayz, but I don't particularly like dogs.

lardybump · 28/01/2009 13:44

Thanks for that Astarte I will give it a go, except the capsules I have dont have a top on them so can I just make a hole in them instead or just put them in as they are???? I think dp will freak if I ask him to do it...

Morning Afternoon

I need help - serious help, will someone please sit me down, and explain to me in very clear words why it is not OK to iron the muslins for any child other than your PFB, and even the PFB is pushing it? I have just spent the best part of an hour, after already ironing a load this morning, ironing muslins, not only ironing them straight, but then folding them in some tit-arse way and ironing the creases in them And what I think is even worse than that, is that I did that because I am bored. Bored, and MN didn't even enter my head until I was half way through the ironing the muslins thing Surely to god there must be some medicine or drugs or chocolate I can take to make me better? Please? I can not spend my time ironing sodding muslins and forgetting all about MN.

LaTour, glad to hear you sounding positive considering, just be aware it could come and hit you like a hammer in the head, but you can deal with that if and when. Oh and, runny nose? I can't remember who it was LaTour, do you know by any chance?? Seriously, I have my fingers so tightly crossed for you, you bloody deserve it after everything.

No news from Diege yet?

Ast, sorry you are in such pain, and after all the blubbing I did at MW's over the last weeks of the pregnancy, I am sure one little episiode is forgotten about in an instant! Did she suggest anything for the pain? Codiene or anything like that?

LB, hopefully that little bit of a start will get things going sooner rather than later. Sorry can't help with the CP.

Kay, congrats on your niece Lovely news Seems to be babies everywhere at the minute!

Lbox, have you thought of the Canaries? Lanzarote is lovely (if you get the right spot) weather always lovely but not absolutely baking hot, and it is windy enough for watersports etc. Flights are good. Tenerife is good for the activites as well, but you have to watch where you go if you want a relaxing beach bit aswell, some of the resorts are just like Blackpool but warmer, but if you get a nice hotel the pool can give you the relaxation you want.

Right, time's up, there are muslins to be ironed DS2 has woke up and is singing to himself, DS3 will be awake in 10 mins for his next feed (he's like clockwork!) and I need a wee, thought I'd share Have a good afternoon everyone

Astarte · 28/01/2009 13:52

Are they just like a squishy tablet? Should be able to snip the very top off the outer layer.
Maybe pop them with a pin. I'm thinking that it could be tricky using 2 fingers to squeeze the liquid out at the cervix.

There's a saying up here, "shy bairns get nowt" have a go yourself and then say you've wasted so many trying to get it right it'll cost a fortune at this rate.

That would swing it for my Dh .

Astarte · 28/01/2009 13:54

YOU IRONED MUSLINS!!

still at least you didn't iron muslims...technically I'm sure that's worse

2beautifulgalsandasnowglobe · 28/01/2009 13:55

hi everyone.

Been busy again and missed about a week. Sorry have been reading but no time to post

Diege- looking forward to hearing your news, your now making me want to find out.

Tink- bracken is gorgeous and sounds like she is doing really well, you are back on track with your shopping too lol

Latour- sorry about the tough time you hae had recently. Your symtoms do sound very promising fingers crossed for you.

Snap- have you tested today?

LB- sorry for fall and time spent in hospital, hope you are now being waited on. Take care of yourself.

Astarte- sorry for pains, did you ask the midwife if she would do a sweep or did she just offer?

Kayz- use disposables if they make you happy and your life easier. I would go to crufts, you deserve to treat yourself, buses do seem scary at night, but just take your mp3 and a book you will be fine.

Lbox- not sure where to recommend to go? How far do you want to fly? I agree the bumpy safari ride at 5-6 months does not sound comfortable. Egypt is a good suggestion, i w ent to the canaries when i was 32 weeks pregnant with DD1 it was great got a tan for the photos you burn easier when pregnant and i got a horrible heat rash too but just relaxed.

Glask- congratulations on the Nephew! Has your sister got over the shock yet. I hope she kept all the reciepts of things lol. Does it make you nervous that they may have got your DC3 wrong?

Hi to everyone else.

Took DD2 to softplay this morning, then been on bidding on used nappysite! Trying to get an assortment of recommended nappies to use for DC3. Been have dreams or should i say nightmares about this bloody reusable nappies (like i haven't got enough to worry about)!
Had to different companies over now for quotes for shipping. its expensive! Keep thinking is it worth it! We aren't taking any furniture or electricals just basically boxed stuff, photos, kids stuff, toys, clothes, cuddly toys, bedding, tent, shoes etc and its going to cost around £2000??? The stuff isn't particularly expensive stuff, but more sentimental!

See midwife next week, seems like a lifetime ago since i last saw her, have my little list of questions i keep thinking of!
We are emigrating in 2 5 months and 2 days!!!! Think i'm more bothered about that than giving birth! Mind you i have been having horrible dreams and just worries about the birth and me needing a caersean.....

Sorry for the waffle...

lardybump · 28/01/2009 13:56

Right I am going to give it a go then.... NJ i washed and ironed all my new muslins as well, how weard is that.....

kayzr · 28/01/2009 14:00

Nat, I just can't believe you!!! I don't even iron their clothes!!!

DH doesn't want me to go to Crufts he wants to save the money for Goth weekend which I understand but there is another goth weekend in October so we could save from April to Oct for it.

kayzr · 28/01/2009 14:44

I think I may have a solution to my problem. I can get a 16-25 railcard which means the train is cheaper. It is my birthday in April so I am asking my mum if she will pay for my train tickets as my birthday pressie!!

DH has just gone to work, I am dreading getting a text from him as they are all having to see the bosses today regarding their jobs.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 28/01/2009 14:59

Hi 2BG- how is your bruised behind?

Am sat here giggling about Astarte's ironing muslims comment...

I've washed all 12 of mine- muslins that is- but hadnt considered ironing them...but now we are talking about it....... .

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 28/01/2009 15:01

Sorry- am crap

Hi Nat, Tink, Ast... its one of those weird afternoons of feeling only semi conscious!

Astarte · 28/01/2009 15:12

LB have you rummaged yet?

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 28/01/2009 15:13

Question for Astarte - know we've covered this before but what is your prefered brand of resuable?

I am going to do a trial once Gyo-ette arrives. Nappy lady suggested Teddys or Flexitots with motherease wraps...

No idea what is good really, suppose its trial and error and personal choice but good to hear recommedations. Also good to hear honest reality of it being hard work (thanks Kay- glad to hear its not all about feeling pleased to be environmental)

thanks

kayzr · 28/01/2009 15:13

I think I told you but might not have(post pregnancy brain) but we were hoping to rehome a rescue puppy. We had a homecheck on Sunday and I just got an e-mail and WE PASSED!!!!!!!!

We can have her!!!! I am so excited and poor DS1 doesn't know whats going on as I just gave him a massive hug and kiss. He is now cheering and shouting "naughty Mummy"!!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 28/01/2009 15:14

ahhh Hurray Kay!! Great news

lastboxoftampons · 28/01/2009 15:20

Ses you around? Just wanted to let you know that I saw the Icoo targo on a website that also seems to have a shop here It's in Wincester though...

kayzr · 28/01/2009 15:20

I have just put a couple of pics of the boys on my profile. They are off my phone so not that good.

Astarte · 28/01/2009 15:43

I consulted the nappylady website as well but didn't follow the recommendations she gave. I went to Flamesparrows (MN'er) site bumfluffnappies and got her advice as well.

My favourites are Swaddlebees organic cotton velour shaped nappies in one size here
They've lasted absolutely ages and I've never had nappy rash...ever. I've just bought sage green and pink (Tink ) for this baby.
In fact if you'd like Gyo you could have a few of ds2's to try out if you like?
If you go for wool wraps or fleece then the skin is able to breathe and doesn't get wet/sweaty which caused the rashing.

Flame only recommended what she thought I could cope with.

I'll be honest I found the BMio a complete pain in the arse and actually tried to use them again for Ds1, but failed miserably and went to Nature disposables. Ds1 was such a heavy wetter and the BM's just couldn't cope with the flow. The wraps were PUL and kept the dampness against his skin.

The washing was never a problem for me just dry-pailed them and washed at the end of the day. You just have to have enough to not fall short.

Go ask Flame, she's lovely! Tell her Sorky sent you

kayzr · 28/01/2009 15:46

DH has lost his job!!! It's his last day on Friday

Astarte · 28/01/2009 15:46

Ah! those are lovely pics
