hi ladies a new thread hopefully it will bring me my baby

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
kayzr · 27/01/2009 21:44

Thanks Star.

I have decided I hate our reusable nappies. They leak badly, Dylan gets awful nappy rash, they take forever to dry and I don't like having to touch wee and poo soaked nappies! I just want to cry about it.

ohsnap · 27/01/2009 22:08

Kayz, which nappies are you using?

ohsnap · 27/01/2009 22:08
kayzr · 27/01/2009 22:11

Bambino Mio ones.

LaTourEiffel · 27/01/2009 22:23

Kay, stop being so hard on yourself and buy a pack of pampers / huggies / tesco own etc!

Life is hard enough, if they suit you then fine, go for it, but I think you've been through enough. You may well find that when the number of nappies he goes through reduces you can contemplate them again. Decisions on nappies aren't 'forever', IYSWIM?

CD28 for me today, I'm really not expecting to get a BFP this month (though wouldn't complain obviously!) as only got two (albeit well timed) GOF's in due to time spent away with Nan last week. However....in my quest for a BFP I guess I'm allowed a little bit of symptom spotting - does trumping like a trooper, having a randomly runny nose and feeling ready for bed at 7.30pm count?

Thanks to everyone for your kind words on my other thread, it really did help to be able to talk. Nan's funeral date has been set, and I am so, so lucky to be able to say that I have no regrets whatsoever, I did everything I possibly could to look after both her and my family whilst she was in her final days.

LaTourEiffel · 27/01/2009 22:26

that's not very supportive or environmentally friendly is it.... sorry.

kayzr · 27/01/2009 22:29

I have decided to buy some disposable nappies.

LaTour, I have everything crossed for you. You are allowed loads of symptom spotting, I haven't been involved in symptom spotting in ages!!!!

I'm glad you feel ok about your Nan's death, we're still here if you need to talk more.

kayzr · 27/01/2009 22:38

Please go to this thread and read the letter on the link. It is the funniest thing I have read in ages!!!!!

LaTourEiffel · 27/01/2009 22:56

Cool. Perhaps the answer should be to try disposable for a few weeks as I said before, then maybe try the reusables again once the frequency has gone down - it might resolve the nappy rash issues and also it will be easier to deal with the messy ones maybe?!

I'm quite OK actually about it, in many ways its a relief that we were able to carry out all of her wishes for her and provide the highest standard of care - she was in her own home which is where she wanted to be, and she was treated with utmost respect and dignity. In my heart I know she knows that.

One of the guys that works for DH just came back from a month holiday visiting family in pakistan, he's brought back a gift for DS and his wife has sent me a gift too - a beautiful mobile / wind chime thing - and stupidly (and I really know its stupid) but it feels like a little gift from Nan - its made from shells and we used to go looking for them together on the beach .

ohsnap · 27/01/2009 23:54

Aw LaTour, that sounds lovely, and not at all silly!

Kayz, how are you folding the nappies and are you using the paper liners? The fold can make a big difference to the leakage and the paper liners mean you can fling the poo easily down the toilet! I used Bambino Mios to start with and got on ok but they can be frustrating when the runny poo is constant!

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 28/01/2009 06:49

Morning!

LaTour - good to hear from you. I'm glad you're doing ok. The shell windchime sounds like a lovely coincidence and I think that's a lovely thought.

Ohsnap - hello! How's things?

Kay - I'm still torn between whether to try reusables of some sort or natures own disposables (which are meant to be a bit better for the environment than most other disposables). I think Astarte is good with "nappy knowledge"...

I've got a meeting in Crawley all day today and then I've got the rest of the week off!! Yay!!! Also had good news yesterday that from 1st April, anyone starting maternity (or paternity) leave at Boots will get £100 of Boots vouchers! Looking forward to getting those!

lardybump · 28/01/2009 08:30

Morning ladies. I havent had time to catch up but just wanted to pop on to say I am fine. Labour started on Sunday night, went into hospital on Monday and they kept me in as only 26 weeks and the contractions were getting stronger and showed on the trace. However all stopped last night and they have let me out. Baby ok they put it down to my fall so need to take it easy....

Hope all are ok and that I havent missed too much news I am going to go back and read up now....

Cosmogirl · 28/01/2009 08:44

Morning all,

Diege - Hope everything went ok at the scan yesterday.

LB - good to hear from you. Sorry to hear you've been in hospital. I take it you mean 36 weeks though, not 26 weeks....surely no one wants to go back in time at this point! Not long till you'll have baby in your arms now and all this will seem a distant memory.

GYo - in response to your question mat leave countdown is going very slowly at the moment. 22 days still to work and have to work on my handover because internal cover has been found. Actually ready to finish now - nesting instinct has majorly kicked in and am madly trying to get house in order even though I have prob plenty of time still.

Another miserable and soggy day here. Hope all the wagon babies are doing well xx

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 28/01/2009 09:15

Morning All

Diege- hope all ok at the scan. Do pop in and let us know if you get a chance.

LB- glad you are ok after the fall despite the false labour. Hope you are resting now....

Hi Latour, good to see you back and glad you are feeling kind of ok about things.

kay- LOL about craving egg mayo Sorry to hear the resusables are causing stress. Maybe is worth giving yourself a break for a bit with some disposables... might be easier when the weather improves and you can dry them outside? (ok... might be a long wait!)

Hi Cosmo- hope you are enjoying the nesting instinct I keep having waves of tidying but am too knackered most of the time..

Ses- great about the boots vouchers. Also, meant to say, your DH sounds great for suggesting a solution for the tidying, he sounds like a star

Hi Ohsnap

Hi to everyone else... Ast, Tink, Nat, Star, Gruff, Glask and anyone else...

kayzr · 28/01/2009 09:32

Morning,

My SIL had a little girl yesterday, we found out via facebook. DH is a little bit upset that no one bothered to ring him.

DS1 is being the child from hell this morning. He has hit DS2 100's of times, put a cushion over his face, hit me and DH loads and throwing all his toys everywhere.

LB, I hope you are ok, get lots of rest.

Snap, We use the 'boy' fold for the nappies as that is the best fold for boys according to the instructions. We do use the paper liners but we change him downstairs as there is no room upstairs so we have to put the liner in a nappy bag.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 28/01/2009 10:18

Hi Kay, congrats on your new niece... bit weird that that havent told you though. Hope they phone with official news soon.

Sorry to hear DS1 is being difficult. DO you think he is still adjusting to DS2?

So tired today, can barely get off chair to make a cup of tea! let alone do a full days work at my PC... roll on mat leave...

Cosmogirl · 28/01/2009 10:37

Not really enjoying the nesting....it is blimin hard work! Also, have no energy either and nauseated most of the time so it is a struggle to get things done. Maybe it is best I am getting the instinct now with the pace I am going at!

Kayz - congrats on neice too! That is one of the things I don't like about FB. People put such personal info on there but in a way it is so impersonal. Not sure if that makes sense...

so tired today too...............

lastboxoftampons · 28/01/2009 11:09

Hello all

I havne't guessed yet!

Astarte - Feb 5th @ 12pm 7lb 7oz.
Diege - Feb 6th @ 10.00am 71b 8oz.
GYo - Feb 7th @ 07.30am 7lb 10oz.
Glask - Feb 8th @ 03.46am 8lb 1.5oz.
LBOT - Feb 8th @ 11am 7lb 4oz
Moos - Feb 9th @ 2.03pm 7lb 11oz.
tink - Feb 10th @ 12pm 8lbs.
Star - Feb 11th @ 4.15pm 7lb 12oz.
Kayz - Feb 12th @ 02:44am 8lbs 2oz.

Kay Don't know what to say about the nappy situation except that I wasn't really even considering reuseable so I would use the disposables if it makes life easier for you. So weird about your SIL and not getting a call! I would be definitely and slightly annoyed!

Ses that's great about the vouchers! Have fun spending them!

LB Glad to hear you're feeling better now, but it must've been such a scare for you. Please take it easy and rest as much as you can. I hope you've relaxed a bit after your fall. Sneaky {{{{hugs}}}}

LaTour Glad you're back and it's so good to hear you've got such a positive outlook. I don't think anyone could ask for better than what you, your mum and grandad provided. Take care and good luck with TTC this month. Symptom spot away!

Hi GYO!

No news from Diege today?

So DH and I have always wanted to go to South Africa, but we've been involved in a big house project that's eaten up all of our time and money. We're just beginning to see the light and are trying to plan a holiday. DH wants to go to SA, but I don't see any point in going if we can't go on safari, and I'm not sure I'd risk it at this point. I feel really bad, like I'm letting him down, but I actually had to explain to him that aside from potential disease risks (although that's not what I'm mostly worried about as I know we can go to non-malarial areas and I'm pretty up to date with vaccinations) there's the heat, the sheer pace of a safari holiday (early starts, etc) and the bumpy jeep that are all not particularly compatible with a 5-6 month pregnancy. Anyway, any one have any ideas of where to go instead? We're looking for something fairly romantic - relaxing, but not just sitting on the beach all day (I would love it, but DH can't sit still and makes it very hard for ME to relax) so some exploring, water sports, etc. Any ideas?

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 28/01/2009 11:54

HI LBOT

Saw your other thread on the safari.... not sure where else to suggest....been thinking of alternatives....

Somewhere like eygpt might be good, you could sunbathe (utter bliss!!) and DH could do scuba/ snokelling/ quads in desert maybe. Only you might need to be very careful to avoid getting holiday tummy there (but thats the same for anywhere really)

Egypt isnt that hot in April either so might be good time to go. Flight is about 5.5hrs so not complete torture!

Good luck with your planning I was hoping to do this (holiday before baby) but in the end I wasnt really up to it. Really hope it works out for you.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 28/01/2009 11:55

Diege- are you lurking...? Hope all ok at scan.

Thinking of you

Starshinetiger · 28/01/2009 12:01

Kayz - totally agree with LaTour and others - why not give yourself a break and use disposables for a little bit to see if it helps. You can always go back to reusables if you want, as LaTour says, it's not either or. With DS, I tried for a couple of days with reusables, but kept disposables on at night for example (much to my shame the reusables never really carried on for v. long and we went with Tescos own disposables after first few weeks ).
Also, on DS1 - DS is similar at the moment. Really tries to push boundaries with kicking and hitting, so we just try consistent approach of telling him it's not nice and using naughty step if he persists. Can't honestly say it's stopping him, but it has reduced a bit (seems to be worse this week, but he is cutting his pre-molars, so I expect he's uncomfortable). He's also started this week bursting into tears if he doesn't get his own way. I know it's no comfort and doesn't help you, but just wanted to let you know you're not alone and I think it's pretty standard toddler behaviour, especially with DC2 on the scene - do remind me of this when our DC2 arrives and if you do find any useful tricks for dealing with it, please share!

LBOT - think Diege said she wouldn't be back online until this evening as she's away in London - shocking wagon behaviour if you ask me, going for scan and then scarpering for over 24 hours with no news!

LB - sorry to hear about early labour, glad you are okay now and hope you are able to take it a bit easy.

LaTour - sounds like you have a fantastic attitude. Please symptom spot away - I think it's exciting for the rest of us (helps me recall a time when tiredness and heartburn weren't the only symptoms I had!)

to everyone else - Nat, Gruff, GYo, Cosmo, Glask, Ses, 2BG

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 28/01/2009 12:07

hi Star, thanks for reminding me about Diege

Sorry for excess worry there Diege- must be the hormones

kayzr · 28/01/2009 12:20

We have disposables!!! I feel much happier about it, might not be great for the environment but neither can using the washing machine at least once a day!!

I am going to mums tonight so I will have to wait to hear Diege's news. I think it is a boy, just to surprise them!!

Astarte · 28/01/2009 12:20

I would just go to disposables Kayz, be easier for you.
I gave my BMio away, they are they worst nappies I've ever used. They aren't a very good advert for using reusables if anyone else is thinking about it.
There are much better makes out there, PLEASE don't buy BM (sorry that doesn't make things any better for you Kayz)

Glad you're okay LB and that baby is still in the right place

Fingers crossed for LaTour-they all sound like rather good symptoms btw. I found Tink was a rather useful resource when symptom-spotting, she had loads of interesting links to obsess over look at

Seen m/w this morning, in so much pain with baby being engaged I couldn't get up onto the bed thing and ended up shamefully shedding a couple of tears. The shooting pains up my bum and fanjo are worsening, but strangely enough my pelvis is holding rather well.
Next appt for 40+1, but I won't be going, not after todays episode.
That S&S at 39+1 is looking good atm.

Sorry for the 'me' post. I do hope everyone is okay

tinkhashertinklet · 28/01/2009 13:09
