Astarte · 25/01/2009 21:23

We discovered camping last year for the first time and trust me when I say I'm a hotel kinda gal, but we loved it!!!
I was 10 weeks pg at the time and hoiking for England, but I still loved camping.

Gruff I think it was needed.

Well, BH are becoming a bugger on a night, so I've taken the executive decision this evening to have a Sorky-sized glass of wine to help me sleep.
BH have stopped and I may well have sent my baby to drunky-sleep , but 'desperate times.....' an all that.

My god it tasted fantastic!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 26/01/2009 08:09

Morning everyone one

Cant believe its monday again! Weekend flew by so I didnt get a chance to get on.

Scan went really well, thanks to those who asked (think Ses and Ast)- got really good picutres and 15min DVD of mini Gyo stretching and waking up. All quite amazing. We need to scan in the pics as they are hard copies but they are so clear.

LB- sorry to hear of your accident, hope you are feeling better by now.

Hi Ses hope you had good w/e- saw your other thread but really not sure about what the answer is, hope someone helps in the employment section

Kay- did you decide on your hols? Camping sounds great fun- my sister regularly goes with all her kids

Astarte - how are the BHs? Did the wine do the job? I had a glass on your behalf too last night, hope its effect helped too . Keep getting way too fond of glass of wine, keep forgetting Im not really supposed to have it, as Im pouring the second glass ..
Have you let the DCs in the pool yet?

Hi Gruff- how was your weekend with visitors?

Tink- glad all is well with DD2 and she is feeding well and hasnt lost wt. Also good to hear you are back on the shopping, Enjoy mother care!

Hi Kooky- how are you feeling? Have you told anyone yet?

Hi everyone else big wave to Nat, Star, 2BG and anyone else I've forgotten!

Latour- if you re lurking, hope you are ok at the moment. thinking of you.

Phew. Right off to get some breakfast

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 26/01/2009 08:13

Wow that was a mega post! ok so not got breakfast yet....

Meant to say, we went for a tour of the maternity unit on sat. Im still undecided whether to have HWB or go for hospital....

Thing making me want to go to hosp is the support after regarding feeding etc. Is this really a worthwhile factor? Also options for pain relief are there should I want them!

Thing against hosp that the water pool might not be available which would be really disappointing... need to decide ASAP and organise pool hire if are doing it....

Sorry thinking outloud there....

Morning,

GYo, We have decided not to book anything just incase he doesn't pass in time. We are going to go camping or stay with an old family friend in the Lakes. I honestly need to win the lottery, I'd love to live there.

I really wanted a water birth with both boys but I haven't had a chance yet. With DS1 there was someone else in the pool and with DS2 we didn't get chance to order one in time as I decided to go for the HB. I really recommend a homebirth as it was much more relaxing.

DS1 was in and out of bed again last night. I think the novelty has worn off. But he didi end up falling back to sleep in his bed. We just ignored him and let him cry it out.

Wow Cosmo, single digits is exciting!

Gyo - glad that your scan went well and yu finally got your dvd. cant wait to see pics Hope rest of your weekend went well.

My weekend was very good thanks Gyo. My sister and hubby came down and we went out for a meal in Farnham (The Darjeeling) and it was good food. Just had a great time with them. my sis is 12 years older than me but it never feels that way, we get on so well and our DH's do too

Got the morning at home, then nipping to Farnham before work starts with a pick up from nursery at 12noon.

Just want to be on maternity leave now though!

Morning...I nearly flounced off MN for good last night , another thread that I have now hidden, not you guys.

Gyo glad the scan went well. I don't think I'd have had the confidence to have a HB, nevermind a HWB, for my 1st child if I'm really honest.
I think I wanted to 'know' I was safe in hospital IYSWIM. But after the awful, traumatic birth I ended up having, I vowed I would never go to hospital again.
I would imagine what you need to decide is what matters most to you. If you def want a water-birth, then I would hire a pool and stay at home where you're guaranteed to have access to it.
If you want as many pain relief options as possible then go to hospital where epidural etc is available.
On the bf'ing support issue, I would've thought it's something to discuss with the m/w next time you see her. Ask her what specialist support is offered.

That glass of wine last night was delish, but meant I was awake from 4am this morning feeling dehydrated .
I was very tempted to have a second glass as well

The hypno cd is rather good at giving me a good nights' sleep though.

Diege · 26/01/2009 09:53

Hello! Not had a chance to get on over the weekend, and now in the midst of puking dds and lumpy sheets - eek! Have told work I won't be in today as dd2 is still sick, and tbh I cannot face the 4 hour commute on 3 hours sleep.
Not had a chance to catch up, but wanted to show my face!
Hopefully catch up later!

Astarte, thanks for asking. I am around lurking, making sure everyone is ok but not really posting. Not really any time to post at the moment as I am up to my eyeballs in work right now. Only got 5 days left till Mat leave now and there is so much I have to do first!

Glask - Congrats on becoming an Aunty.

Hi everyone else, sorry not able to do a long post and say hi to you all individually.

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 26/01/2009 10:52

Morning!

Just back from seeing GP. For some reason they substitute the 25 wk MW appointment with a GP one so that your GP "feels involved". Does that happen for anyone else?
Anyway, all ok except a small amount of protein in urine so she's sent that off to be tested incase there's an infection. I have to phone for the results in a week.
FHB was 144bpm - isn't that borderline on the girl/boy theory?
She also did Fundal height measurement which was 25cm and seeing as I was 25 weeks yesterday, I think that was spot on!

Playing - good to hear from you. Only 5 days!!! I hope you've got a good internet connection at home!

Astarte - glad you haven't flounced. There are some really odd threads out there at the moment...

Diege - sorry to hear you have a house of poorly DDs. Are they trying to distract you from thinking about your scan?? Not long...

GYo - glad all went well with scan. I'm definitely going to the hospital to have this one but am also seriously considering H(W)B for a 2nd.

tink - 1 wk already!! She's getting her shopping training in early though!

Kay - sounds like you did the right thing with DS1. Difficult to let him cry it out but he'll get used to his bed.

Hello everyone else!!

NatalieJane · 26/01/2009 11:47

Good morning

Hiya Playing, had been wondering where you'd got to! Glad all sounds well, and only 5 days to go! and

Ast, link to thread please And always, always, ALWAYS have a soft drink before bed, best is something with high sugar, full fat coke is good.

Glask, huge congrats on your first nephew!

Diege sorry for poorliness, hope things turn around soon.

Sorry (again) if I've missed anything - brain is mush, I couldn't even add up to 57p yesterday...

Had a good weekend, DH worked Saturday morning, when he got home I nipped to town for lonesome shopping and hair cut, which was lovely! And then yesterday DS1 and I had our eye tests (£160 later I am the proud owner of new glasses, or will be on Thursday when I pick them up! Oh how we cheered! ) then nipped to Next (gave Tink a wave on the way in!) meant to get DS1 4 pairs of trousers, came out with clothes for everyone to the tune of £182, and then did an online tesco shop for £146 - DH was a bit grumpy last night, no idea why! Hopefully next weekend will be a bit cheaper!

We've got my mum coming up on Thursday and then either Saturday or Sunday (they haven't confirmed yet) my nasty horrible sister (did I tell you all what she did when my mum came up to stay with us when I was in hospital? ...not that I hold a grudge or anything!) and her DH and their 3 kids are coming up, with my other sister and her fella, so we're going to have a bit of a full house methinks!

Oh just remembered, GYo, glad the scan went well and you got the DVD OK this time

Right, I am going to make a brew and some toast or something, I've been up since 5 and I haven't eaten yet, I'm starving!

tinkhashertinklet · 26/01/2009 12:07

glad scan went well gyo

hope they get better soon diege

ses glad appmnt went well

nat - you are doing me proud
the clothes in next are irresitable

lastboxoftampons · 26/01/2009 12:11

Hello all!

Glask congrats on your nephew!! That's such a funny story! Note to self - count fingers, toes and check all bits when the LO gets here!

LB So sorry about your fall That must've been traumatic for you both, but like Moos said, your DD will not remember the incident at all. My nephew fell from the back of a pick up truck onto the road - poor thing had a huge bump and road rash on his head, but wasn't/isn't any worse for it. Hope you're feeling better

Astarte Was giggling at you transferring your money to off-shore accounts And glad to hear you enjoyed your glass o vino!

GYO So glad your scan went well and was worth the extra trip! Can't wait to see the pics!

tink I really don't know how you manage to get so many things in Next! I've been in and couldn't really find much of anything I liked - although was looking at boys clothes for a friend's new baby - there must be much more for girls. I won't let myself look as I'm convinced this LO is a boy!

Diege Very of your massages! Enjoy!

Ses haven't had a minute to read your thread, but will try to! Hope you're well!

Hi Kay, NJ, Playing, 2BG, Gruff and everyone else!

Today at 14+3, I am wearing my first official pair of maternity trousers! They have a demi panel and are well covered, but the elastic waist is heaven! On another note, this weekend I mentioned to DH that I thought I would probably stop working at the end of June, about 3 weeks before my due date and he couldn't understand why I'd plan to stop so early We'll see.....

Very quick flying dash - had lovely weekend away in Edinburgh Friday to Sun - drove up and down (well DH did - although I did then have the job of keeping DS amused when he was awake). DS coped admirably with the journeys!

Have only had time to read last few posts, but from what I've gathered...

Playing - lovely to "see" you, good luck with last week.

LB - sorry to hear it sounds like your DD had a fall - am sure she won't remember it! Hope you're both okay now.

LBOT - congrats on 14+3 and maternity trousers. I had 3 weeks off before due date with DS and it was just right amount of time (am taking 5 weeks with this one though ). DS arrived 4 days early and by end of 3 weeks was ready for his arrival, but really glad to have had the chance just to relax and get prepared in those 3 weeks.

Nat - yay for shopping on Sat pm. I'm so impressed with you out and about on your own 1 month after Mikey's arrival - it gives me hope I might cope with 2, but still not convinced

Diege - sorry to hear of sickness, hope you're all recovering quickly. Waved your direction as we drove past on M6 this weekend.

Kayz - sounds like you're planning a holiday, which sounds lovely, hope you get something booked. By the way, don't know if this will help, but we have an issue with DS not wanting to go to sleep - he goes to bed, has stories, milk, etc, but then we say goodnight and come downstairs, then he calls - Mummy (on repeat) until I go back up. DH came up with this trick (which I see as cute and not as my DS being too easy to fool ) - he tells DS "Your teddies are really tired, but they can't go to sleep until you do, so close your eyes and cuddle them and then you can all go to sleep". Now, admittedly, DS screws up his eyes in a totally non-relaxed fashion and it maybe has more to do with us having been back up to him to say go to sleep, but it does seem to help - may be worth a trick. But then, DS does have conversations with his teddies too - I personally think it's cute, but think it may lead to an imaginary friend!?

GYo - glad for good scan, v. exciting.

Sorry to anyone I've missed - waves to Gruff, Tink, Glask, Ses, 2BG, Kooky - but have 3 weeks until mat leave, so work is manic and am trying to train up new Assistant (who will be working with my mat cover), so doubly-busy.

P.S. Did buy Babasling in TK Maxx on weekend - decided as not getting new pushchair, could afford Sling - was my rationale to DH anyway

Diege · 26/01/2009 16:27

Hello! Just popping on while dd2 doses on sofa - probably have seconds!!
Have had a brief skim through. Wow LBOX 14 weeks ; I seem to have stood still for weeks while you are catching up! Great news on mat clothes - it's a whole new shopping experience!
NAT, you may have told earlier, but what was it your sister did when you were in hossy?? [nosey]. Great going on the shoppping btw
ASTARTE, enjoy your wine! I think you deserve it. Have you managed to have a go in the pool yet?
TINKS - back on good form I see . Can't believe you resumed normal shopping duties so soon, although having said that I do remember myself hobbling into baby monsoon 2 days after birth (the problwm with not findig out the sex!!).
Hi PLAYING! Good to hear from you, and just a matter of days until mat leave - enjoy!!
SES, I don't think anything will distract me from tomorrow's scan. I would say I am a cautious optimist in life, but there's something abiut scans that make me so nervous. I have decided to def. go, but feel so anxious havn't been able to eat properly these last few days, nor sleep too well. I am totally expecting at least one soft marker, as that's the way it's always been, but won't be on to post the news until Wed eve as off to London for meeting straight after scan.
Right, I am off to watch DND to take my mind off it - and maybe a quick look at Rafa in the Australian open

Hi STAR, x-posts!

Starshinetiger · 26/01/2009 16:39

I'm not really here - i'm a figment of your imagination, really I'm working...
Diege - my DM is in Melbourne currently visiting DB and DSIL and she is at Open today (or was, with time difference?) watching Nadal - i've been instructed to "watch out for her on tv" - think she forgets I work full-time and it will be 8pm earliest tonight before I get a chance to switch tv on - shall have to try and glimpse her in highlights. Do let me know if you see a mad english 60-ish yo woman in the crowds!

Diege · 26/01/2009 16:47

Ooh STAR I'm so jealous . I am sure there will be lots of mad looking, drooling women in the audience of all ages . Oh and I am also not here - 'working from home' I think they call it

Evening,

I've just found out a lady I know died Friday night. It was a heart attack and she was at the bingo when it happened. She was in her late 60's early 70's.

The permanent staff where DH works had a secret meeting today. DH is pretty worried as he is agency staff. He is worried they have been told the agency staff are being laid off. But I don't think they can do that, if they are going to lay off DH and the other agency staff surely they can't tell the permanent staff first.

Stupid recession!!

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 26/01/2009 19:15

Kay - how sad about the lady that died. Heart attacks can be so sudden and such a shock. How did you know her?
I agree, the meeting for the staff where your DH works would be unlikely to affect him but everything is so unsettled at the moment. Is he still on 4 days a week?

Star - I'm not fussed about Nadal but am of being in Australia and of watching the tennis!

Do you remember how last week DH and I had a bit of a discussion / misunderstanding about being messy and things we do to contribute to general upkeep of the house?
Well I have to say he has been really good recently. He cooked dinner Sat and Sun and washed my car without me asking him to. He's also v diplomatically just suggested that next weekend we both spend some time tidying up the house.
I have Thurs and Fri off work this week as holiday and he said he could have asked me to do some then but didn't, however if I felt like it, I could make a start. He then complimented himself (in front of me) about how tactful he was getting!!!

Anyway, I'm off out in a minute but will catch up tomorrow if not later.

She used to work at the supermarket I work at. She used to come in everyday and everyone knew her.

The 4 day week starts next week. It won't be too bad but his hours have been changed as well. Instead of 7-3 he will be doing 5:30-2:45 and then instead of 3-11 he is doing 2:45-midnight. So even earlier mornings and later nights.
