Good luck MissH- Hope it goes well for you... looking forward to ditching the raspberry leaf tea and swapping it for champers.

Dog- Get well soon...it sucks being ill, especially when you are heavily pregnant and have kids to run around after

FLF- Definitely up for a coffee with all the entourage...if this one ever arrives..

MissJ- massage...pedicure...and a cream team [drooling emoticon] I am so ashamed at the state of my feet at the moment
Quite pleased DC will be an aquarian... and am in the same boat as far as names go...DP and I have lots of ideas but just can't agree. When DD was born all the names went out the window anyway and we came up with somehing completely different..

Tree- Sorry you've got stress over the JSA and all that...they can be...well..not very understanding at all I am at surviving on maternity pay after the initial 12 weeks is up...I'm a teacher so it drops pretty sharpish...DP been job hunting for about 8 months now...but not much happening in his line of work that pays anything.

Ooogs- Congratulations on the arrival of baby Luke!

Well, swimming was a disaster...DD loved it when she was tiny, but now, after a gap of about a year, she hates it, spent the whole time crying and clinging to me, so not really sure what to do about that.

Have had period pains/cramps since the sweep and a few sharp stabbing pains...but still no hardcore labour contractions...will be 41 weeks tomorrow and if anyone else suggests I have a curry/sex/long walk/ .......(add your own 'bring on labour'method here) I am liable to scream in thier face and storm off like a mad pregnant woman.

treedelivery · 20/01/2009 17:41

hkz- we're in very similar situations by sounds of it.

Can't believe you could muster up swimming energy!!??

fourlittlefeet · 20/01/2009 17:42

HKZ, if I were you I'd take a long bath, try and relax and get a good sleep tonight. If she has done the same for you, the rest will be invaluable! I'd also start visualising lovely quick and easy birthss . good luck!

Squirdle · 20/01/2009 17:43

Hello Ladies, I just thought I'd let you all know how dopey I am. I was reading through your birth announcement list and though 'Ooh quite a few have named their baby Jan!' Then I realised my mistake

Lennied - DS3 is Dylan Jacob...a mighty fine choice of nmae

treedelivery · 20/01/2009 17:45

Museli · 20/01/2009 18:57

Been quietly reading these 'Jan' threads every day for weeks now. Great to see so many have popped in the past few days. Am 41 weeks today and no sign of impending labour besides the odd tiny twinge.

Booked a sweep for Friday, but am getting to the point where I've kind of given up on the idea of having a baby, and feel like life might now just carry on as it was before - the past 9 months having been some kind of weird dream / distraction.

Loving swimming though (for 'swimming', read 'slowly pootling up and down whilst getting in the way of 'proper' lane swimmers'). Weightless bliss!

hkz know what you mean re: helpful advice for bringing on labour! (though I have noticed that, curiously, such advice often seems to be offered by men)

Anyway, having some reflexology tomorrow - you never know...

Books- Thanks for that...that's probably hit the nail on the head...she is VERY independent, so it would completely make sense that she feels frustrated. Will do a search for a pool, there are quite a few round our way.

Museli- Hope the reflexology does the trick

Tree- Its a pain in the arse...we always end being on the borderline or just over it for any financial assistance, which is completely fair enough, just makes things very tight. Hopefully DS will find a lovely sparkling shiny new job in about 12 weeks time...that would be perfect. On the plus side it will be great having him about when the new baby gets here. I get waves of panic every now and then but have decided not to worry (too much ) just yet.

Just had a bath, very achey and having some sharp pains.... shall settle down to holby on my big blue birthing ball and visualise my flower bud opening up

treedelivery · 20/01/2009 20:23

hkz - dd mostly hated swimming till she was 4. Think she was frightened and small. Now she's gone all developed and strong and like sit more.

Our financial frustrations are EXACTLY the same. I chucked the biggest hissy fit when they declined my sure start and milk tokens.

Am also fully princessed out here being waited on by dh and getting sleeps when needed. Am also hoping for the 12-16 weeks job arrival! So similar.

treedelivery · 20/01/2009 20:23

btw Hello Muesli!!

lambskinmmm · 20/01/2009 20:24

Hey ladies..

I went to my 40 week appt on Thursday, huge, fed up, tired of the wait on mumsnet.
An hour later it was bye bye non intervention bequtiful homebirth, hello pre-eclampsia. I thought my world had caved in. I'd never even read about it, or considered it, just thought "nah; wouldn't happen to me".

ACTUALLY it hadn't at all, we had an absolute blast in the labour ward, decorated it with rugs, cushions, wall hangings etc: etc: , took in musical instruments, sang and had a laugh... i had 2 fantastic midzives that embraced our approach and rode along with us.. (the community ones I want enamoured with at all, but thought it was the price I had to pay for the homebirth that was so important to me).

I had a perfect llittle boy within 24 hours xhich was the best 24 hours of my life. We had a blast.

Conclusion ... especially for anybody who is in the mindset I was about hospitals... it's not where that's important but how.. and that can be best facilitated by people, not places.

So back home and SOOOOO happy to not be pregnant, but nursing engorged boobs and a bad back instead haha.

Good luck all of you that still have to go.

Lots of love.

hkz · 20/01/2009 20:36

Congratulations lamb! Sounds like you really enjoyed labour, glad it was such a positive experience...its all pretty amazing! Good luck with the boobs!

Tree-Its reassuring to know that your DD likes swimming more now. it must be to do with confidence too and feeling more self assured.

treedelivery · 20/01/2009 20:37

Thanks lambskinmmm - I rather thought you were going to say you woke up and t'was all a dream after the music playing bit!

Sounds like you had good fun, we have a postnatal thread if you want to go bag a bed on it. Babies there range form few days to about 6 weeks I think!

lambskinmmm · 20/01/2009 20:42

where do i find it?

treedelivery · 20/01/2009 20:46

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/673052-January-09-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-and

Thats our postnatal ward/postnatal wing of the homebirth house depending on delivery

LooseyC · 20/01/2009 20:48

Congrats Ooogs! Luke is the name of my DS so I think your choice is fab obviously.

Good luck MissHairspray - please give me a review of the disco ball experience!

Tree, sorry you are having a rotten time, hope you and others get some decent rest tonight at least (or a baby! One or the other...)

Hi Muesli - know what you mean about seeming like life will just go on like this. I go to quite a few baby groups (and I am huge) so everyone is always surprised when I turn up again the next week, and the next, and the next... and I'm not even due until Thurs! I'm going to be such a nightmare to live with after that especially as the whole family keep on ringing to see if anything has happened - aaah! They are driving me bonkers at the moment.

Thanks Lambskin, glad you had such a good experience. Mind you if anyone I knew turned up and sang I don't think I would be too pleased as I know what they sound like!

elkiedee · 20/01/2009 21:02

hkz, maybe a bit far for you, but Tottenham Green has a "beach" type pool. There are Wednesday morning free play in the pool sessions with someone leading songs for toddlers. I know someone who used to bring her newborn and leave him in the buggy by the pool while taking her two year old in, though I'm not sure I'd do that. I'm hoping to take DS2 swimming but unfortunately a lot of the courses and those play sessions will start at the wrong time for us, as he won't be 4 months until the end of May/early June.

fymandwhenisthisbabycoming · 20/01/2009 21:03

Hello! Well done on those babies! they're coming thick and fast now!

No more pains today, just soreness and twinges.

on swimming, I think it;s a good idea to get a pool they can put their feet down on... also our fab swimming teacher says that mums must show no fear/anxiety as soon as you do they do too - and it is soooo true...

Just checking in quickly for new arrivals.

Congratulations Tink Ooogs and Lamb hope you are all recovering nicely and babies are all doing well.

rrrayray · 20/01/2009 21:52

OOOOgs and Lamb- congratulations.

Nothing new going on here, Due today, but she is far too cosy and not coming today obviously!!

Got accupuncture session tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed!

treedelivery · 20/01/2009 21:58
