I don't know whether this makes sense Kay, and I have never fed anyway, but ...
I don't think there's anything wrong with BF when you want to and FF as well. Maybe you need to decide though on balance, is this the right thing or is it just making you feel worse? If you can continue both and feel positive about it then I think you can. If you just end up beating yourself up then maybe decide the right thing to do for you is to FF.

I don't know if that helps and as I say I feel a bit silly making suggestions when I have no experience myself, but just wanted to try and help.

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 13/01/2009 18:48

Actually, blow all my silly ramblings - chocolate is always a good answer!

kayzr · 13/01/2009 18:50

I thought I had made the decision to BF but it is so hard. I just want to BF him so much but it is so hard.

(Just don't tell tink!!)

Astarte · 13/01/2009 19:07

Can we help at all Kayz? Is it worth possibly offering him the breast before each feed?

sobbing is sometimes the only thing to do

kayzr · 13/01/2009 19:14

I do think I might just give it another go and offer him the breast before each feed. I don't want to give up without knowing I did all I could.

Astarte · 13/01/2009 19:21

You could try to restimulate the supply. Put him to the breast as often and for as long as you can and it should return pretty quickly, just keep feeding the formula until he starts to take a good bit of milk, then you could maybe offer the other side before the bottle too.
You might just have to be careful about his latch so you don't get sore nips.

I hope you get some peace from whatever decision you make Kayz.

kayzr · 13/01/2009 19:26

I'm still leaking loads so I think my supply is still there and I'm having to express a lot due to the pain.

I might start waking him during the day to get him to feed better.

Diege · 13/01/2009 20:20

Great advice there KAYZ - agree it does seem like you still have a good supply, and offering breast before bottle sounds good advice . As does king-size whispa bar
Good to hear from you SES We were all worried about your dress . Glad that you haven't lost out anyway, and have an occasion to wear it for too. Oh and on celeb front you have to admit that we're talking strictly Z-list here
Astarte, at 6 (though I'd rather 6 than 5 I think as I have a thing about odd numbers!!!). As the senior member of the wagon (I think?) at 39 in May, age is a consideration for me,as is 3 bed house, but if I'm totally honest it's the sickness that is the real decider to stop. No-way I can put everyone (most of all me) through all that again, and 4 seems a nice neat number to stop at!
Right, need to clean kitchen then bed for me. Speak tomorrow from work hopefully.

Hope you get a good sleep KAYZ and that things feel a little better in the morning xxx

kayzr · 13/01/2009 20:25

Oh yeah I forgot about Diege's celebs!! A wag, JK and Ciaran!!!

On night 4 of 7 of my Ciaran fest!!! Thank god DH is on lates!!

LaTourEiffel · 13/01/2009 20:41

Hi everyone, I need help.

I've been on a waiting list for ages to go to a dental hospital for review for treatment under sedation. Since having DS I've had quite bad gum disease and whilst its better, its certainly not great. I'm also horrific at the dentists, uncontrollable nerves... so, needing a deep clean below the gum line fills me with dread (can't manage a basic scale and polish ) so...

My dentist arranged for a referral to a local dental clinic that can carry the treatment out under sedation.. not GA but a drug that will relax me enough to be able to have the treatment and I've been waiting for the appt since July last year.... (laT wonders if she's ever mentioned this on MN... anyhow... ) I finally had my appt today.

They x-rayed my teeth, not one of those horrible 'bite on sharp bit of plastic' x-rays, but a nice pain free 'x-ray machine rotates around head' x-rays.

So, I need four fillings replacing, an extraction of a root that is infected and has been left from work I had done about 20 years ago (!!!) as well as the gum deep clean that I was originally referred for.

As I'm quite 'anxious' (read highly stressed and nearing pass out point when anyone so much as prods me in my mouth) I will have this work done under 'sedation', not a GA, just a drug that will 'relax' me enough to enable them to do the work.

So, do I start TTC? Or do I wait for this appt? I'll need three in total. Why is this happening to me? PG must happen to people and they'll just sort it won't they, and delay the treatment till after the pg? I'm not in any pain, and I've been waiting for this appt for about 9 months already, so it can't be that urgent, right? What would you guys do (please remember back to before you got your BFP's to when you were desperate to be pregnant).

I'm sure life shouldn't be this hard.

Sorry for constant me, me, me posts, really I am.

kayzr · 13/01/2009 20:46

Get GOFING WOMAN!!!!!!!!

You were very right when you wrote "PG must happen to people and they'll just sort it won't they, and delay the treatment till after the pg?"

I need some work doing soon and they just said they would do it when I have had DS2.

I too hate dentists!!!

kayzr · 13/01/2009 20:53

Sorry if I was slightly OTT!

But go for it!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 13/01/2009 20:57

What a dilema Latour. Can you get the dates of the appts up front?

If it was me, I'd probably carry on ttc and see what happens. Maybe I'd consider some alternatives to drugs like natural therapy e.g. hypnotherapy to help? If you find you are pregnant when the appt comes you may feel differently and want to get it done.

Not sure this will help but I've been in similar (long story) situation where I've used valium and other drugs pre- pregnancy. When faced with same situation once pregnant that I couldnt avoid, I found way to deal with it naturally and now Im thrilled to realise I dont need the drugs how I thought i did...

Hope you find right solution.

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 13/01/2009 20:58

Definitely not OTT Kay! I completely agree!

LaTour - I know I would be ttc anyway. Have fun and good luck!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 13/01/2009 20:59

Hello Ses- not "seen" you for a while. Hows things?

LaTourEiffel · 13/01/2009 21:03

Thanks guys... not sure how much persuasion DH will need...

Mwah Kay!

kayzr · 13/01/2009 21:06

Most men don't need much persuasion!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 13/01/2009 21:08

LOL true Kay. Mine still complains that I got pg first try. Reckons he was conned out of "practice"

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 13/01/2009 21:10

Not bad thanks. My foul mood last week lifted and I've seen a bit of my bf, her DH and my godaughter (Gd) the last few days which has been great. Gd is 3.2 and sooo cute. When we told her I had a baby in my tummy on Sunday she got all excited and started stroking my tummy to make friends with the baby! Then before she came over today she asked her mum if the baby would be there! Had to explain we had to wait a bit longer!

Also really cute is that she calls me "my Sarah"!

Such a shame they live so far away in York and v scary that I might not see them now until after I have the baby!!

LaTourEiffel · 13/01/2009 21:11

Ses that's very cute. Kids are great!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 13/01/2009 21:13

THats very cute Glad mood is better. Funny how pregnancy makes you feel great then moody etc.

Right- off to bed as I'm in london office tomorrow so leaving at 6.30am.

lardybump · 13/01/2009 21:14

Evening all..... I have physio tomorrow yay.......

I also have found this pg very hard. With dd i sailed through it and loved every second of it. I bloomed all the way through.... But this time I have suffered really bad and it has knocked me for six... I will not be having any more, I am just glad that my first pg was not like this one...

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 13/01/2009 21:30

G'night GYo!

LB - seems that the first pg is often easier.
I think I need to bear this in mind as DH and I are already talking about when we might start ttc DC2! Once this one arrives we may change our minds. However I'm definitely older than average for having DC1 as I'll be 36 in a month

Ok, I'm rambling now...!
