Having our usual chinese.

Quick poll do I have chicken curry or satay chicken?

GruffaloSoldier · 09/01/2009 18:38

I would personally go for satay chicken kay!

GruffaloSoldier · 09/01/2009 18:39

hi diege, charlie and choc factory does sound rather exciting, are you all going?

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 09/01/2009 18:43

show sounds good Diege!!

Kay- i'd go for the chicken curry myself!! but at the same time if i have chinese i normally have chickne and mushroom.

DD is being a pain in the bum and not eating her chips... they asked for chip butties when i got the curry for me and DH i didn't think about what the kids would ahve, offered them pie and chips, or chicken breast burger with chips, and they just wanted chip butties!! so they had a big barm with loads of chips on and ketchup all over the top!! DS finished in a flash, DD has barely touched it!!

I want her to finish so they can go to bed and i can have my curry- i'm starving!!

kayzr · 09/01/2009 18:47

I really don't know which to have. Might have chicken curry.

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 09/01/2009 18:54

satay kay

Diege · 09/01/2009 18:56

Chicken curry vote! GRUFF, dh is taking older dds as dd3 would flake out being up so late. Happy to stay in and watch CBB .
Right, must dash and get dd3 uo to bed before she susses out why the 'big girls' aren't in their pyjamas...

Diege · 09/01/2009 19:18

Right, they're gone! Thought I'd share today's purchases/deliveries... My Seraphine jeans arrived (the size zeros ) and they fit really well; am very pleased. Of course I'm having to hitch them up but after trying virtually every brand in all my pregnancies I know that the elusive perfect maternity jean is NOT out there! Have also ordered one of those dream genie pillows - anyone else have experience of them?
Right, fish pie and a bar of fruit and nut for me...Mmmmm....

kayzr · 09/01/2009 19:30

I went for curry. DH has gone to get it. I can't wait.

I am currently planning my garden. I have a horrible feeling I will spend a fortune on plants so I must try to restrict myself to buying a bit at a time.

Starshinetiger · 09/01/2009 22:23

Evening all. Hope you enjoyed takeaways, those having them! Thanks for tips on whole double buggy v. buggy board/walking. Think we're going to do with buggy board to start with and see how it goes - can always buy one if need be.

Kayz - think you're doing brilliantly with bfing. Glad you got some good advice from LLL. I think whatever bfing you do is good. Tips sound good and hopefully they will help.

Glas - glad you survived on such little sleep. And yay for DH purchasing Luna next week.

Diege - doesn't sound selfish at all, not like you planned the whole thing, but if you and DH get some time together for a few hours, while DDs are all well and happy, sounds like it is a win-win situation.

Tink - hmm, so I'm out then! Hope you're still comfortable.

So, couple of pieces of advice again please?!

  1. Am thinking of doing refresher antenatal course, partly to refresh myself on birthing techniques and partly to meet some other mums in this area - any thoughts on whether this is worth it? Will cost £70?
  1. Are you getting a new mattress for your Moses basket? DS didn't go in his a lot (slept in cot from about 6 days, as couldn't settle - later found out it was reflux), so wondering the consensus from you ladies?

Thanks!

lastboxoftampons · 09/01/2009 23:04

Hi all
don't have a minute to catch up right now, but just wanted to report that today's scan went brilliantly! Two arms, two legs, all sorts of little fingers and toes so amazing that there's so much detail in something sooooo tiny! Pleased also that my Downs risk is just under 1:15000.

OMG, I'm going to have a baby!

Hope you're all well!!

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 10/01/2009 08:44

morning

freezing here again brrrr

great news lbot

diege - bits soundsgreat had no experience of pillow sorry

star - have heard some bad things from my friends and on the net regarding buggy boards - when pushing buggy they make you arch your back, feet can bang on it. we did get one didnt fit our quinny and then found out that quinny warranty is not valid if you use buggy board as can prevent more wear and tear then if you dont use one.
we are going to sell ours on ebay. i am going to risk dd walking she will be 3.5 years @ the end of feb, she is tiny for her age and gets tired easily. she is @ nursery 3 mornings a week so shouldnt need to walk to often.

regarding refresher course - i would go for it doesnt sound like 2 much money

i wasnt planning on getting a new moses basket mattress hadnt thought of that.
dd only went in it for 3 months max.

i am not that comfy. especially lie down @ night hoping i have baby this wknd.
come on full moon

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 10/01/2009 08:45

dh is taking dd to indoor play area i am going to stay in the warm and watch t.v have lots of progs to catch up with

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 10/01/2009 09:15

Morning! Am feeling a bit more 'me' again this morning and not so down. May have been tiredness related as I slept til 8.45 this morning.

Tink - enjoy tv catch up!

LBOT - fab news about scan. You are going to have a baby!

GYO - can't wait for update on your 4-D scan!

kayzr · 10/01/2009 09:27

YAY!!!!!!!!! for scan LBOT!!!!!!!!!

We had another pretty good night, except DS2 woke DS1 and he ended up in our bed. Which wasn't too bad but I don't want it to be a habit.

You should always get a new matteress no matter how long they sleep in it. Something do to with spores and fungus growing on it.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 10/01/2009 09:36

LBOT- glad all was well at the scan!! it must all be starting to feel 'real' eh???

Star- we're not getting a new moses basket mattress and we bought ours used... we've just bought a waterproof mattress protector for it which worked out at at least 2 thirds less than a new mattress- the ones we looked at cost more than most new moses baskets cost these days!! rediculous, plus we tend to co-sleep a lot in the first 10wks or so anyway while i get used to beeding etc and get into a routine, so moses basket will only really be used for daytime naps if at all!!

DH was supposed to be working today but he's off, he's not feeling well- i hope he's not catching this 'novo virus' thing... one of his staff went ill with it last week so i'm terrified he's gonna get it and pass it onto me and the kids!!

Dont think i have much planned for today, just some housework as per usual, some washing, drying, putting clothes away etc... wash last nighs tea pots as i was feeling tired by about 9.30ish... though i lasted till 10.15- a good 19hr+ day yesterday.... i could have done with more sleep this morning though but was up again at 6am!! Dont feel so bad though. DH is also off tomorrow, wondering wether to take DC's to indoor play or swimming.... but depends on how DH is feeling i suppose.

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 10/01/2009 09:48

Morning Kay & Glask

DH came home ill yesterday with d&v and I was worried about norovirus too Glask. I dosed him up and he says he feels much better this morning. Hope your DH recovers quickly from whatever it is.

Glad mine's feeling better as it's our black tie do tonight. Only thing is my dress still hasn't arrived!
I may have to wear my black jersey dress from Blooming Marvellous with Ted Baker purple shrug. Would probably be under dressed but I think I'll get away with it being pg...

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 10/01/2009 09:55

I gatehr that virus could be pretty bad if you caught it while PG- and at the same time if the kids both got it i'd ahve a hectic week ahead looking after them all!!

fingers crossed its just a little tummy bug, or something he's eaten.

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 10/01/2009 10:11

Glask - I had norovirus a couple of years ago and it was awful . I can imagine if pg you'd feel even worse. There is evidence to suggest though that it doesn't cross the placenta though and so the baby isn't affected. Hope your DH doesn't have it though anyway. I know it's obvious but just be really careful with hygiene and make sure whole family is drinking plenty of water.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 10/01/2009 10:22

i'm considering going out for the day to avoid him!! i'm really worried about batching it and being ill and either having to cope with the kids or have the DC's catch it and have to care for them... dont even wanna consider all 4 of us having it!!

kayzr · 10/01/2009 10:30

Go shopping Glask!!!

I have decided I am not cultured or could even be remotely posh even if I wanted to be. I want to take DH out for a meal on Valentine's day so I had a look at a couple of Michelin Star restaurants near here and I don't really like anything on the menus. We always go to the same Cantonese place which is gorgeous but I thought we could have a change.

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 10/01/2009 10:37

Kay - for the first couple of years we always went back to the cheap little Italian where we went on our first date. It was perfect! Unfortunately 2 yrs ago our friends had joint hen/stag do there and the stag got us all chucked out. We haven't been brave enough to go back! I normally get 2 meals out in 2 days as my birthday is 15th!!

Glask - shopping sounds like a good plan!

kayzr · 10/01/2009 10:51

We probably will end up back there again. Just be nice to have a change.

Diege · 10/01/2009 11:04

Morning! Agree with others GLASK, I would get out for the day!
STAR, I think a refresher antenatal course sounds really good - not a bad price either. They offer refresher ones on the NHS here, although they are always booked up. Sounds good, if only to meet new people!
TINKS, I think there is something in the full-moon thing, although (as with most things to bring labour on) think it would only work if your body was ready? Oh and while I remember, there's a really good sale on in the 'Clearance' section on the Uttam London website. All clearance items are 3 for 2, and already heavily reduced. Got dd3 a lovely dress, kaftan, t-shirt and leggings for summer, all for under £20 (free delivery too).
What a pain about the dress SES; where was it from again? It's a shame you're not round the corner or you could have borrowed my IO! I'm sure anything black dressed up with a shrug and nice jewellary will look gorgeous .
KAYZ, I would stick with Cantonese, or else have another look round at menus etc? Not worth the Michelin places if you're not keen on the menu, as all you'll remember will be how much you spent and that you didn't really like it!
Can't remember who asked about moses basket mattresses, but we always get a new one just to be safe. Just a cheapy from Toys R Us ((£8 or so), although the latest research from SIDS is that the mattress thing doesn't make any difference after all...still, for £8 not a major hardship changing it .
Not sure what the plans are for today. The house is freezing even with heating on as I had to open the window a crack in the night to get rid of dh's garlic breath...

Starshinetiger · 10/01/2009 11:40

Morning all. Sorry you are feeling uncomfortable Tink, hopefully baby will arrive soon. I remember that my labour with DS started with me being up at about 5am, 'cos I couldn't get comfortable - was downstairs with hot water bottle and watching baby programmes - little did I know at the time that it was labour!
Thanks for tips on buggy board though!

LBOT - yay for scan, is so exciting and, YES, you are going to have a baby!!

Kayz - Cantonese for Valentines Day sounds good - I'd always go for something you know you both like that trying something new you're not at all sure about. Doesn't mean you're not cut out for being posh, just that you know what you like!

Glas - sorry to hear DH not well. Agree you're probably better off going out with the kids and leaving him to it. Fingers crossed it's just a bug or something he ate.

Ses - sorry dress hasn't arrived. Wrap dress and shrug sounds lovely though - also, if you won't need the IO dress for anything else, you could always return it and put the money you've saved towards a lovely dress for after pg!

Thanks for recommendations re antenatal refresher, am going to go for it. Not sure what my boss will say about me being out on Monday morning at such short notice, but they have to give time off for antenatal courses and seeing as she was on hols last week and our team is leaking people faster than a sieve, so I've been covering lots, think it'll be okay.

Going to draw up list of things we need for baby and go to Mothercare tomorrow - have a 10% discount voucher which expires tomorrow - v. exciting to have an excuse to shop

Right, have just cut DH's hair, now had better get on with cleaning and tidying, so can enjoy a day off tomorrow.
Have a good day all.
