GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 10/01/2009 17:29

Hi Everyone

am behind again...

LBOT- hurray for the great scan! so pleased for you... You are definately having a baby! Such an exciting feeing

Glask- hope your DH is ok

Tink- how are you doing? any more twinges? I cant believe you are so close, seems like yesterday you were 11wks!

Ses- enjoy your evening out, very annoying that the dress didnt arrive though will you keep it anyway? I got a nice dress for my annivesary dinner that I thought I'd wear only once but I will try and get a few more dinners out of it yet! Any excuse to go out

Hi everyone else

We are just back from a mammoth "baby day". Went for our 4D scan this morning. It really was amazing. The pictures were so clear of the face- have uploaded one to my profile and it all went really well and we didnt see any bits by accident! Though we paid for DVD of recording but it doesnt work, its all fuzzy with no picture at all so we need to ring up and see if they will re do it.

ALso been and ordered our buggy and other bits from shop today and will order cot and other bits online tonight. All exciting now.

WEirdly I've been really close to blacking out when lying on my back yesterday and today (at the osteo yestertday and at the scan today). Anyone else had this?

Apparently its called Supine Hypotension and is effect of blood not getting back to heart properly. Very scary as I've never been so close to blacking out before makes me feel so odd... can only find two references to this on MN!

wow mega post... sorry!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 10/01/2009 17:35

Star- enjoy mothercare shop. HAve you got a nice list?

Re moses basket\ crib mattresses. Has anyone found a protector of the right size for it? We cant find what we need for our crib. Also should the plastic sheet only cover bottom half so vent holes remain clear|?

Anyone heard from Nat?

Fab pic GYo - makes me want a 4D scan now! Think we need to save money though - things are mounting up. Went to Kiddicare in Peterb today and ordered a white cot bed. Was good price in the sale. Just need to do a bit more online price comparison before we order the pushchair/pram system.

Had anti-D yesterday and wasn't painful - which was a relief. Midwife wouldn't tell me what position baby was in as said 'it is too small to tell'?!! Went over to friend's house in the evening though (she is also a midwife) and she did a quick tummy feel for me on her sofa and said the head is down at the moment, so am pleased with that and hope it stays there! Was surprised it was down as have been feeling movements low, but I guess that could be the baby head-butting me....

Good luck Tink and Gin - hope there's not too much longer for you to wait.

GruffaloSoldier · 10/01/2009 23:39

star - enjoy mothercare shop

Cosmogirl · 11/01/2009 10:54

Morning all,

GYo - meant to say yesterday, couple of people (yoga teacher and midwife) have mentioned to me about the lying on your back thing. Apparently the weight of the baby presses on the vena cava (sp?) and this, as you say, can stop blood pumping around properly and make you dizzy etc... Doesn't seem to affect me but then again I don't spend long on my back and am constantly tossing and turning from left side to right side to my back throughout the night.

GYO - your scan piccie is just fantastic! I showed DH and I think he's quite keen to get one if we can find one at a good price. Do you mind me asking where you went and how much it was?

Hello tink, Cosmo and anyone else lurking!

We're just back from our dinner&dance/night away. Was a good evening - even got asked to dance by DH which doesn't happen v often as he's not really the dancing type! Had to wear the Blooming Marvellous jersey dress but there was quite a mix of ladies dress so I didn't feel too out of place.
It's getting to the stage where I feel that it looks obvious that I'm pg but lots of people don't seem to realise - I guess especially if they've not met be before and haven't anything to see change IYKWIM. Half way through the evening last night, a couple of people exclaimed that they couldn't tell I was pg! I wanted to retort with "Do you just think I'm this fat anyway?" but I restrained myself! They probably just didn't want to make any assumptions!

Later today we're off to see my bf, her DH and my godaughter who are down from York visiting her family. Haven't seen them since my day trip up to see them in October so looking forward to another good evening.

Hope everyone else is having good wkends

Diege · 11/01/2009 11:50

Morning!Trying to get motivated to get some marking done, but you know how it is...dh has taken dds to MIL's but rather than inspire me to work I just end up flitting round the house doing anything but the work I need to do!
SES, glad evening went well , and sounds like you have a good day planned today too.
GYO, I have been wracking my brains about the mattress protector thing you mentioned. Have never come across a plastic one before. Think (from memory) mine either have a zip around fabric cover that I have then just put a fitted sheet over, or are just the mattress itself that I've put 2 sheets over (may be making this up!). One tip I did find useful was placing a flat sheet over the top half of the mattress horizontally, securely tucked in, as babies tend to posit bits of milk up and then you can change the top bit of sheet only (probabaly not described this very well!).
Brillian scan piccy too - I don't think I've ever seen one that good!
Bad luck TINKS on full moon not doing its stuff. Baby obviously has other plans! Hopefully this time next week she will be with you!
Hi COSMO! Must be good having a midwife friend . My sister is a midwife and she has had the odd feel of baby's position in past pregnancies, and she is really rough ; think she's getting her own back for all our fights over the years...
Hope everyone is well. Would be good to hear how things are going NAT if you are lurking and get the chance to post xxx

kayzr · 11/01/2009 13:03

Hello,

That is a great scan pic GYO. It is so clear.

Come on baby Tink you must come at 8 tonight!!

I'm having a lazy day today, I blame it on the weather.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 11/01/2009 13:48

GYo- great pic- how clear is that??!! I managed to pick up a matterss prottector for our moses basket from TKMaxx of all places, it was reduced to only £3... its almost just like the fitted sheets, but it has a 'breathable' plasticy feel material on the underneath of it... i've never seen them before though.

DH is ok today, and was actually ok for the majority of yesterday afternoon so i think it may have just been something not agreeing with him.

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 11/01/2009 15:12

i will tell her kay that she must come tonite

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 11/01/2009 15:13

have just been to next
had to get out of the house going insane. just about managed.
bought dd pink slippers and baby cute brown pram shoes

Diege · 11/01/2009 17:12

What are you like TINKS . You'll be stopping off on the way to the labour ward for a last look!
Hi GLASK, good tip about Tkmaxx, may take a look.
Hello KAYZ! Lazy day here too - have got nothing done at all. Will have to cram tonight (after I've watched deal no deal forst of course ).

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 11/01/2009 17:37

Hi Diege! I'm another Deal or no Deal addict. Just about managed to restrain myself from Sky+ing it Good luck with the cramming.

Tink - is there no stopping you?!!

Glask - glad the d&v didn't develop.

We're just off out for the evening so catch you tomorrow!

GruffaloSoldier · 11/01/2009 17:41

Hello everyone!

I have been lurking but have made a major start on operation:clearout! We have been clearning stuff out all day, I definitely have started nesting much to DH's delight (he usually has to do everything ) So I am really enjoying the motivation.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I got to get on with my tidying but might be back on later

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 11/01/2009 17:53

i did manage to stay away from next for a little while.
lets hope this baby comes soon will be bankrupt
i didnt spend lots though slippers were only £3.50 and baby shoes £5
i luv deal or no deal, i found noel in his halloween devil outfit quite sexy lol
well done gruff my nesting is dreadful 2.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 11/01/2009 19:38

Evening ladies. Have been lurking a little throughout the day but been very lazy.... am still in my PJ's!! i'm exhausted today.... think my 19hr day on friday has caught up with me!!

have spent most of the day with my 'lists'!! I've narrowed about 10 sheets of A4 lists into 4 lists... one is projected holiday savings, one holiday costings, one is another big verbaudet order and one is my 'baby list'. I'm also addicted to chocolate and coke again!! have had 4 bars (2 mini bars) of chocolate and a mini bag of maltesers and drank about 1 litre of coke today!!

DH is at footy at 8.30, sets off about 8.15 and i think i'll be in a shower and straight to bed... thats if i can be bothered to shower first... something tells me it could be left till morning .... i mean- i dont smell or anything, had a shower last night, just feel horrible being in PJ's all day!! haha!!

Can't wait to get my pram next week!! DH was going to buy it on friday for me but we're going out on friday evening now, which is when he was going, so i think it'll be a week tomorrow and we'll make a day of it. Going to pay off another big chunk of our holiday then go to the mamas and papas shop and buy the whole lot of the luna and accessories!! just can't decide what colour really....

i think my fave is the mandarin but i do like the cress.... i love the colour of the tulip but think it screams 'Girl' just a bit too much, and feel it may be a little 'chavtastic'.... votes between colours ladies please?? we saw the mandarin in-store and i do like it, DH likes the cress but i'm a little put off about putting a girl in a green pram- how much of a bad steriotyper am i!!?? I will be getting the matching parasol and changing bag too in which-ever colour i get... and if going for the mandarin will buy poppy footmuff and if buying the cress will be getting leaf footmuff

Argh decisions, decisions!!

kayzr · 11/01/2009 20:59

I wanted the Luna and I wanted the mandarin one. It is gorgeous in RL too. The tulip is nice too though.

It is the 2nd night of 7 nights of Most Haunted live and DH is on lates this week. I am going to get so scared!!

lastboxoftampons · 11/01/2009 21:56

Glas I like the cress. IMO, girls can always go in boy colors, but not necessarily vice versa. I know it's stereotypical, but I guess that's just the way we're programmed. I wouldn't go for the tulip unless you know this baby is going to be a girl (don't remember if you do!) and your son won't ever use it (although he's a bit older now, right?) Pink and green go well together, so if it's a girl you can always use some pink accessories to girl it up a bit!

GYO amazing pic! Think I might have a 3d scan when visiting the states later in the pregnancy, although DH is not likely to be there, and I'm not sure how he'd feel about me going without him. Would be a lovely day for me and my mom though!

Ses sounds like you had a lovely time - sorry about the dress though

It's all sinking in here - have put my picture in my profile (although it's just a pic of a pic, so not great, don't have a scanner at home). Have reported back to most family, although I keep telling DH to call his Dad and he's just procrastinating Would think he'd be excited about telling him! Stupid men!
