A sparkling new thread in time for christmas

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
spottyshoes · 07/01/2009 19:28

OMG - night 2 of no feeding at bedtime and DS is upstairs with DH screaming mammaaaaaaaaar in a blood curdling way.

I hate this

spottyshoes · 07/01/2009 19:30

I've been helter skeltering all morning O&U

swampster · 07/01/2009 19:42

Oooooooh, spotty! Scar chat!

After DS1, my scar was pretty good - It healed really quickly, but when I was very tired or a bit run-down it often felt a bit tight and hot/itchy.

When they unzipped me for DS2, they cut along the same line. I think it was a bit less of an 'emergency' - DS1 had been in distress for a while before they got him out - and they took a hell of a lot more time putting me back together again with DS2.

I think it is much harder for the CS team if you have already had a CS - loads of scar tissue for them to hack their way through - but they did a really beautiful job.

The cut was a good inch smaller on either side, even though DS2 was a pound heavier. And it has never felt as tight/hot/itchy.

I certainly overhang a more than I ever used to and you don't catch me wearing a bikini very often. Maybe this time round I can persuade them to to a wee nip-and-tuck?

spottyshoes · 07/01/2009 19:49

Oh thats good then (not so much re the overhang though ). My scar is really neat atm but if I went for an ELCS again i didn't want TWO scars no matter how neat!

swampster · 07/01/2009 19:57

I am almost 41 - I am allowed an overhang!

MarkStretch · 07/01/2009 20:37

My name is MarkStretch, I am 30, and I have an overhang.

spottyshoes · 07/01/2009 20:41

Well then! when i'm as old as you 2 ol' crones i'll be allowed one too

oooggs · 07/01/2009 20:45

happy birthday LLB

I have been contracting all day - just a false alarm I think so I am off to bed

dh did make me pack my bag though - just incase

MarkStretch · 07/01/2009 20:55

LIMP AWAY SPOTTY! WE WILL HUNT YOU DOWN!

MarkStretch · 07/01/2009 20:56

Oooggs, blimey- hope you're ok!

spottyshoes · 07/01/2009 21:06

Ha - you can try lady but us 20somethings can hide in places you 30 & 40 somethings cant fit reach!!!!

Hope you're ok Ooogs and you manage to get some rest. If not a false alarm...GOOD LUCK!

dinkystinky · 07/01/2009 21:15

Oooggs - hope everything ok with you.

Spotty - giving up night feeds is horrible hon; would say it is easier if you can be out of the house for bedtimes (take a 20 minute walk or something) so you dont hear anything and DS knows you're not around so yelling for you is not an option, but its so bloody freezing out there at the moment you'd end up as an icicle. It will get easier, promise.

LBB - take it easy. Think you get more twinges etc if you overdo it, so chill out this evening (especially as its your birthday when you are morally obliged to chill out!)

Rosie - glad all is well with you and little one. Again, try not to overdo things and take things easy.

Markstretch - glad you're all prepared now, complete with your valeted car to welcome the little one!

swampster · 07/01/2009 21:23

Spotty - you can (try to) run but you can't hide - we will trap you with our pincer-movement precision - two to one - then we will SMOTHER you with our overhangs!

herbgarden · 07/01/2009 21:30

Someone told me that you can ask them to "tuck in " the overhang a bit when you have no 2 . My scar is pretty neat and it healed well but it twinged quite a lot for a year or so afterwards. Still doesn't deal with the big belly midriff bit though does it.

Talking of which, anyone see Claire Sweeney on that high calorie diet where she gained nearly 2 stone in 5 weeks last night - it's a lot of weight to gain in such a short space of time it but god I fancied that massive burger she had in LA.....made my mouth water ...I am loving red meat at the moment.

I just realised tonight it's only 18months til I'm 40. I quite fancied 3 kids but the rate I'm going I wouldn't even contemplate another for a good couple of years. And how do you cope with 2 kids and a pregnancy??? I'm knackered with just 1 to deal with.

idontbelieveit · 07/01/2009 21:36

idontbelieveit, 31, huge overhang. Hi guys. Happy NY and all that.
I have protein in my urine and am puffy like the marshmallow man so may be off to hospital soon depending on BP check tomorrow. Had just about decided on a VBAC as well . Keep your fingers crossed for me.

dinkystinky · 07/01/2009 21:38

Hope everything will be ok IDBI - fingers crossed here for you.

Markstretch - any more news from MrsY?

spottyshoes · 07/01/2009 21:40

ROFL Swampy

I knoooow herb, I wanted one too! Would have even settled for the 'minature' Mcchicken sarnie next to it.

I was thinking about going out Dinky as it does seem to distress him that I am in the house but not seeing to him. Maybe it would be better if I wasn't here at bedtime for a few nights but then I worry that the issue would still be there on the nights I decide to start staying in again. It might just delay that reaction for a few nights iygwim.

spottyshoes · 07/01/2009 21:42

Fingers crossed for you IDBI. Hope everything will be ok x

catstar · 07/01/2009 22:14

Hope good news tomorrow IDBI and you can keep you LO in for a bit longer. Just caught up with the thread and can't remember everything ! Hope everyone as well as can be.

I'm feeling totally unprepared for this LO and can't wait for my maternity leave to start so that I can concentrate on me for a while! I've got clients in from Trinidad next week and then I'm done . Finding it all a bit tough at the moment tbh.

Still, laying in bed at the moment surrounded by laundry that needs folding, but watching the Sex and the City movie - feels good!

I've got an antenatal class tomorrow afternoon - a sort of refresher course, although DD's birth 17 months ago still seems pretty fresh in my mind! Is anyone else doing any classes?

Had a midwife appointment yesterday and my blood pressure is pretty low which would explain the dizziness and nausea I've been feeling over the past few days. Good news is the baby has moved head down from transverse, so looks like I might have to push him out after all!

Anyway, it's way past my bedtime now and I have to write cards for DH's birthday tomorrow.

Catch you all later ....

idontbelieveit · 07/01/2009 22:53

thanks guys, will pop back tomorrow and catch up properly i hope.

mumoverseas · 08/01/2009 05:27

morning all. I've had 2 CS's although they were 10 years apart. The first one was very neat and I had stitches and the second one was also very neat but not quite over the top of the other one. That time (2 years ago) I had staples which really freaked me out as I was terrified of having them removed. I had to go back to hospital around a week after and the nurse could see I was worried and said not to worry, she was just going to test them and then turned to DH and said that he'd have to bring me back in a few days to have them removed as they weren't quite healed. I could feel her gently prodding and then she said, 'right, you're done, you can go' and she'd taken them out without me realising with no pain at all.
I know it will be a bit harder this time round as obviously I'll have DD who is 2.4 and so I won't be able to do any lifting etc but luckily she is at the stage where she climbs into everything herself now.
Anyone having a CS with a toddler just take it really easy and don't overdo it. I overdid it the first time 12 years ago when my DD1 was born as DS was 3 and the pain relief was so good that the day after I got out of hospital I took them out to a local park & farm and was climbing over fences etc. Didn't realise til later how much I'd overdone it.
Overhang - I'm 41 and have increased overhang each year (note to self, diet starts in 32 days). I did joke a while ago about them doing a tummy tuck at the same time as the CS and apparently it is possible out here in Saudi but I imagine I'd then have to have a GA for CS which I don't want. Tempting though....

littleboyblue · 08/01/2009 07:18

ooogs Hope you're ok and everything calmed down.....

idbi good luck today with bp check

catstar good that baby is moving into position

*spotty& Think I've missed a couple of bits, when you say you're stopping night feeds, is that bf? Because if it is and you are in the ouse, he can probably still smell your milk, so would be best to go out for a few nights. Says me who never bf, but a friend of mine used to express so her dh could do bedtimes and she had to go out as baby would obviously prefer to be on boob.
And if it's not breast, I'll just shut the hell up......lalalalalala

Right, had another awful night, went to bed early as he was watching Top Gun, but by 12:30 I was awake and couldn't get comfortable again, those cramps continued all through the night and baby kept doing something to my hip bone. Was also up with ds twice, think I mnaged to get back to sleep at about 5 and ds insisted on getting up at 6.
Then dp says, just go back to bed when he does. Like it's that bloody simple, the 2 hours I might get at midday will make uo for the 5 I lost last night and the night before and tomorrow probably. I've just remembered how tough it was being up all night with ds while dp pretrended to be asleep, also remember the amount of times I got close to telling him to f off out of my life if he wouldn't help me, really don't want to get there again.
Just to continue rant, he asked what I wanted to do with the single pushchairs we have, he suggested leaving one at my mum's and one at my dad's so when either of them have either child, they will already have the pushchair. I told him I thought we should keep one at home so that if on a weekend or something, he wanted to take one baby out, he wouldn't have to lug around the double. Then I remembered, he has taken ds out on their own 3 times in 17 months, why do I think he'll start helping more when there's 2 of them?

Sorry about that, need to get it out. That's better

spottyshoes · 08/01/2009 07:47

Sorry you had such an awful night LBB, hope DS has another 3 hr nap for you this p.m . Yes I was talking about bf and i'm just about to look at a swimming timetable to see if there is something I can go to tonight to get out of the house.

MOS at playfarm after hospital. Gosh that made me wince.

I wonder how much overhang has to do with TWO + CS's or whether it's more to do with having stretched bellies twice over any scar. I'm sure i'll be finding out soon enough

Catstar - yay for baby. I still have no clue what position this on is in but I have been guessing transverse alot of the time due to the pain. Hope s/he stays head down for you.
