Sorry, just wasting posts experimenting. Thought with all the imminent arrivals we better start doing this.

mumoverseas · 08/01/2009 08:08

spotty you must be bored!
I guess we should all update our dates as quite a few of us have got CS dates now. Think there are 3 or 4 booked for 2nd Feb, someone on 6th Feb and I'm booked for 8th.
I still have no idea how to copy and paste etc (pregnancy brain still mush) so can whoever next updates change my date? Also I'm 41 now

littleboyblue · 08/01/2009 08:12

I'll do it, have to update my age too now!NEW ARRIVALS

Sorry, just bumped you up MoS so it still in date order

LittleMissNorty · 08/01/2009 08:23

Morning all

Thanks MOS and Swampy for your experiences.

Swampy, I too had my first CS due to "non-progression" and every time they tried syntocin, DDs heartrate dropped, so a CS was done - as a crash in the end .....the fact that happened to you twice has made me feel I've made the right decision re this one.

I've got an overhang anyway - even before the CS as I'm rather big anyway!

My scar is still numb 19 months after DD but itches sometimes, very odd!

I definately agree about not overdoing it after a CS.....I went a bit mad as well cos I felt fine and ended up bleeding for 9 weeks and had to have another internal scan and they think I'd split the internal scar and it was bleeding through my cervix......quite how I'm going to take it easy past the first couple of weeks when DH is home, I don't know.

We've just found out that DH isn't entitled to paternity leave.......he changed jobs in September and you need to be employed by the same employer for 39 weeks to be entitled....so 2 weeks unpaid leave....tight gits. Just as well I'm getting full pay until the end of March.

Ooooogs....hope things have calmed down and IDBI...hope BP is ok.

I'm quite puffy now....face, ankles and hands....off to MW shortly but sure its all just late preganancy stuff....wonder if this will be my last visit to CMW and next time I see her it will be post-natal????

LMN That's not good is it? You'd think they could turn a blind eye and let him have his leave. Heartless bastards!
We were lucky, dp was working for a sub-contractor for Network Rail, but NR wanted him directly so he transferred to them and 4 days later ds was born but they let him have his leave, which was nice.
I've decided not to leave the house today, far to tired and cold and pissed off. Going back to bed when dp gets in at 5 too.

I've just managed to have a bath without any pieces of apple, without the toilet brush and without any toys!!
Got to stop coming on here in the morning, ds is watching far too much telly!

dinkystinky · 08/01/2009 09:14

Morning all. Oooggs - hope all ok. IDBI - good luck for today.

LBB - sorry you had another bad night (remember, its your body's way of getting you used to sleep deprivation before baby arrives ...) - definitely take it easy today and get a nap in where you can (agree it doesnt make up for missed sleep at night times but is amazing how a power nap can recharge your batteries for the rest of the day - or failing that just dozing on the sofa while DS watches CBeebies and wrecks the flat is always good too!). If is any consolation, this baby likes to try to scrabble through my bump to my hip bones too - such an odd feeling.

Spotty, LBB and LMN - thanks for tidying up the list - put like that makes us all look like Runners and Riders in the Fab Feb Races . Fairly sure this runner will be coming in towards the end though as this baby is showing every sign of loving it inside as much as his brother did.... I think Herbgarden, Swampster and MsLucy are all going to be surging ahead though as they have C-secs booked for 2nd Feb... so exciting!

Spotty - when we had to get DS onto the bottle (when I went back to work when he was 6 months) that's what I did - got out the house for feed times and let him and his daddy have lots of quality boy bonding time. He eventually was fine taking it for the weekend - and then fine taking it from me after the weekend for a couple of days as he'd broken the association with boob/feeding. After a few days I then moved back to mixed feeding (had been expressing to keep supply up) with breast morning and night and he was fine too. After 13 months he rejected the breast in the morning and at 16 months didnt really seem to want to have the breast for a proper feed in the evening so we did the same thing again - DH came home early and put him to bed a couple of nights in a row while I went out for a run/to the gym (so I wasnt an option). It took him abit longer to settle off to sleep (think it was the novelty of having daddy at home for bedtime more than anything else though) and when it came to the fourth night and I put him down (wore one of DH's big sweaters so smelt more of DH than of milk) he didnt want the breast at all. I know your DS is older so may take a little longer to break the association but it worked for us, so you will get there in the end, but agree it is heartbreaking hearing them wail for you.

Catstar and Nkweto - great news that your little ones have swung into position! Sounds like its all starting to come together... hope you both get some you time though when mat leave starts before the little ones arrive.

LMN - that is such a shame about your husband not getting paternity leave. At my DH's work paternity leave is unpaid leave anyway, so my DH is taking one week holiday and one week working from home (which is what he did when DS was born and worked out ok though he did have a few conference calls with a wailing newborn in the background ) - if money is going to be tight, is that an option your DH might be able to look into? Re puffiness - my yoga teacher claims she can tell when a woman is going to go into labour by seeing how puffy her face, hands and feet are) - on the plus side, when it goes and you rediscover your cheekbones again, you feel like you're well on the road to getting your body back again... Speaking of getting their bodies back, has anyone dared weigh themselves lately? Weighed myself this morning and have put on 2 stone, which am actually quite pleased with as am a total heffabump at the moment so thought would be much more - looks like am on track for putting on the same amount of weight with this one as I did with DS......

DS was so cute last night - he was playing music on his little piano for the baby when I got home from work - telling me "baby like this one" - and then showing me (and my bump) all the balloon animals he and his nanny had made and describing them to baby. Made me melt with happiness

onwardandmerrilyupward · 08/01/2009 09:23

Hello spotty - have you already cut out the night time breastfeeding? Because if not, I'd advise cutting that out first, and the daddy taking charge of night time unless there are tragic cries coming to your ears, and still doing night time and morning feeds if wanted. My feeling personally is that I won't mind putting two children to bed and having morning snuggly lie ins, but I want to avoid "tag teaming" if at all possible. Message me on facebook if you want to talk details about how we've been doing things here

lardybump · 08/01/2009 09:52

morning all. A quick question for you all before I rush out for the day. I am starting to was the baby clothes and was wondering if I should swap my washing powder to a non bio like fairy like I did with dd when she was a baby???? At the moment we are using a bio one!! What do you ladies think??

dinkystinky · 08/01/2009 10:07

Personally, would switch to one like Fairy non-bio Lardy (just because newborn skin can be so sensitive) and to a sensitive conditioner like Fairy sensitive if you use one.

lardybump · 08/01/2009 10:10

That is what I thought Dinky thank you..... Right I am off now for most of the day, I will pop on this evening after mw appointment.

catstar · 08/01/2009 10:26

Dinky - that's so cute about your DS singing to the bump! I sometimes wish Little O was a bit older so she knew what was going on with my bump, but then other times I'm quite relieved!

Lardy - I too would use a non-bio one. My DD has eczema so we use Surcare anyway so I will go down this route with the new one. It's not great for getting out stains so sometimes I have to do a hot wash with a bio powder.

LBB - I had a bath with DD last night and won't tell you what made its way into the water .... Let's just say I couldn't move fast enough !

spottyshoes · 08/01/2009 10:28

Ha - not just me that had to post that list several times then! But where is the Bold on the headings?? Come on lets not be slack

DS usually sleeps through or settles himself at nights O&U so it hasn't been a problem but if he does wake DH will be going to him. Thankyou, would appreciate a little FB post if you have time as any tips very welcome.

Thanks for your experience Dinky, that sweater idea seems a good one. I think I'm going to give it a week of DH putting him to bed, he goes out on Monday's so I will have to do it then and will use the jumper trick. Do either of you think me still feeding in the morning and nap time is going to hinder things? Would it be better if I just stopped altogether?

spottyshoes · 08/01/2009 10:30

Neerly - where is TBM?

I'd use non-bio too lardy

PinkPoinsettias · 08/01/2009 10:50

[sigh] dd was in the bed in the middle of the night again crying because she was cold.... spent all night on my back, head fallen off the pillow, her asleep on my arm and dying of thirst. woke up to hear ds downstairs chattering at dp at 7am so then had him sitting in the bed with me chattering and occasionally pretending to doze off for 2 hours til dd woke up. so tired and achey i could cry and every time i stand up for the last few days the bump contracts which is starting to wear a little thin.

would happily kill someone for a decent mattress in a huge size!

ooogs, hope things calmed down, although you're almost 37 weeks so maybe this is it?! eek, can't believe we're having full term babies already!

waiting for the roads to defrost a little before driving to town for the shopping.... not in the humour for it but might as well do it today in case it snows tomorrow... it's looking very likely.

LittleMissNorty · 08/01/2009 10:57

bugger, bugger, bugger......BP is up and I have to go to maternity day care for monitoring all afternoon....

just as well DD is at nursery today.

Bargain of the day.......5 pairs of huge black full knickers (sexy ) at Matalan for £2.50.....

neerly you need to update my list of 8.26am which is the most up-to-date

littleboyblue · 08/01/2009 10:59

catstar Nice!! We've been lucky so far and have never had a nasty in the bath, a bit of wee but nothing worse.

I used fairy non-bio and comfort pure fab soft with ds. I have since switched to daz-don't even know if that's bio or non and tesco cheap fab soft. As there are no allergies or skin probs in family, I've decided to stick with the cheapo brands unless ds2 has any probs and will switch then if need be.....

Called DAU back for urine result. Guess what? There is an infection there (was clear on dec 23rd) so they told me to go to gp for a curse of trimethoprim again, I told her consultant said about low dose for rest of preg, she said it wasn't on file and to go gp, I then asked about glucose and she said they didn't take enough bloods to test for it, so have to have that done again too.
I have really had enough of all this now

Gonna give ds his lunch now, he's having tuna bake and get ourselves back into bed.

PinkPoinsettias · 08/01/2009 11:06

my god lbb.... that hospital sound like a joke!can you ring the consultant and ask him to put the suggestion for low dose abs on your file so they do that instead?

PinkPoinsettias · 08/01/2009 11:09

LMN.... see it as an opportunity to sit around for the afternoon doing nothing, albeit in the DAU hope everything is ok, high bp on it's own is fairly normal in late preg so don't get too stressed about it.
