A sparkling new thread in time for christmas

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mumoverseas · 06/01/2009 09:24

yay! 8th February it is!
consultant was so lovely this morning and pretty much asked us to choose a date after 6th February. As 6th is a Friday (our Sunday) they probably wouldn't do it then anyway and we have a fete on our compound that day so went for the 8th (my lucky number) and a Sunday so DD at nursery that day and works well as then I'll be out by Wednesday night/Thursday morning which is the start of our weekend. Love it when a plan comes together!
Consultant was really positive ref the spinal block and no reason to think it won't work this time round and said DH can be there if spinal but not GA so hoping all will be well for spinal. I also told him about how much pain I was in afterwards last time and the nurses wouldn't give me anything for 6 hours as they claimed no doctors (was ramadam) and he was appalled and said he would not allow that to happen again and he would personally make sure drugs were written up on my chart. DH and I sooooo very happy and relieved now

LBB, glad your little one ok, I know what you mean, I have got a little 'short' with DD the last few weeks. They just don't understand how tired we are

littleboyblue · 06/01/2009 09:26

MoS pleased it went well with consultant, all sounds very positive. Must be nice having a definate date, so jealous!!
God, this is really happening isn't it?

mumoverseas · 06/01/2009 09:28

I know LBB, it seems real now, particularly since TBM has had her little one. 33 days to go! (so glad I'm not the last one due now!)

LittleMissNorty · 06/01/2009 09:28

Great news MOS - I certainly felt much relieved after talking it through with my lot and booking a date.

LittleMissNorty · 06/01/2009 09:29

how many weeks will you be MOS?

spottyshoes · 06/01/2009 09:33

that your l.o sleeps so early LMN we have moved to 1.30 which seems like ages away atm! I suppose I should be grateful that he naps at all though.

It's so frustrating isn't it LBB, DS is the same but even so I had to give a wee at your post!

I've suddenly puffed up seemingly overnight. My watch strap which was loose is now leaving an impression and my wedding rings are the same! Fingers felt a bit tingly last night too - hope it's not carpel tunnel again.

MOS - Good luck today, hope you get your date.

Mentalpup - Ready for no 2??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...... No

spottyshoes · 06/01/2009 09:34

Wow - took ages to type as playing with DS also! Congrats on the date MOS!!!

spottyshoes · 06/01/2009 09:35

Looks like a date then Dinky - you and me chatting away into March whilst all the others are on PN

fgpl · 06/01/2009 09:36

Morning all.
Managed to have a better nights sleep as dh away on business. So nice being able to stretch out properly and avoid human contact, which I am finding intolerable at moment. Poor dh keeps trying to cuddle bump when we're in bed and I can't bloodey stand it. Feel like stabbing him to be honest.
Woke up at 6 though so was able to put tv on and watch news without being moaned at for being awake so early.
Hope Mrs y's symptoms settle, or we be seeing the arrival of Feb baby no2. Its definately getting real now.
I broke my ankle last year so have found that I have one incredibly swollen ankle and one still normal. Looks so bizarre.
Is anyone else finding that they are getting irritated by fitted clothing. I keep having to take bra, socks jeans etc off.
Bought some washing powder for baby clothes yesterday but so far haven't put stuff in wash. The pile of baby stuff is still sitting ominously in the corner. Should get a move on.

littleboyblue · 06/01/2009 09:40

fgpl I have been living in pj's for months now (apart from when I go out) but can't bear bra, socks, sometimes even bottoms. Not long now though........

spottyshoes · 06/01/2009 09:48

Socks are definately annoying! Cant bear being hot or restricted atm

spottyshoes · 06/01/2009 09:50

Can I recommend a 5ft maternity pillow fgpl. Mine has lived in between me and DH for the past 5 months

MarkStretch · 06/01/2009 10:05

Morning all

No word from MrsY here, but will update you all if she texts.

DH woke up this morning and complained I had taken up more than my half of the bed all night and he had slept 'on an inch of mattress'.

The poor love, I CAN'T HELP IT IF I'M WHALE LIKE!

onwardandmerrilyupward · 06/01/2009 10:18

Am here too

Ready????? Well, I've bought a rock-a-tot car seat.

THat's it.

Am assuming that all I really need is a blanketor something to wrap the little baby in...

(a friend just handed down basically a complete 0-3month wardrobe, since she knows she's not having more children. So it doesn't matter whether this turns out to be a boy or a girl, it'll be wearing sleepsuits with blue trains on )

Apart from that, stinking cold, regular hormonal madness, bump the size of a boeing nose cone. All normal

McDreamy · 06/01/2009 10:23

Have you all bought maternity coats? And if not how on earth do you keep warm in the mornings esp those of you on the school run? I was freezing this morning but my coat just wouldn't do up

dinkystinky · 06/01/2009 10:26

Dont worry Spotty - am sure you and I can chat enough for 30 or so

MoS - glad you got a date and your plans are coming together. Great you have such a supportive consultant too - going back sounds like its worked out for you.

LBB - that's the reason I dont shower/bathe when its just me and DS (so I become dinkyevenstinkier at those times!). Tis a phase, will pass (my mantra)....

Markstretch - tell DH he can always go kip in the nursery...

spottyshoes · 06/01/2009 10:54

Yep - this one too O&U, will live in boys stuff regardless of gender! I'm sure plenty of friends and rellies will take pity on the poor little girls and buy something frilly and pink

fgpl · 06/01/2009 10:59

Just been for a lovely relaxing bath while ds was absorbed in cbeebies. Or it would have been until he heard the bath running, dashed upstairs and said "you having a bath mummy?" then ran out and reappeared 3 seconds later starkers with an armful of toys including pirate ship and got in the bath with me. Oh well.
Going to the library with him now to change his books, or at least to try and get him to part with the sodding pirate/dinosaur themed books we have had since August. I am losing patience with him now correcting me if I gt a word wrong as he knows the words off by heart.
I haven't bought a maternity coat, I have been wearing dh fleeces. Look most hip and trendy but so what.
MoS glad you got your date. I am going next Friday and am desperately hoping they won't make me wait much past 38 weeks for Cs.
How many weeks will you be, Did I miss that bit. I don't think I could stand the disappointment of waiting much longer, as am geared up for end of Jan really. On Sunday I had left dh and ds in the car whilst went into Laura Ashley to look at the sale stuff, which is still too outrageously priced, Came out and couldn't remembe where the car was. After what seemed like an eternity found them but was in floods of tears by this point as Dh didn't have phone with him. Couldn't even speak. How unhinged is that?
Am liking the idea of large pillow to go inbetween us in bed. Must look into that today.

laidbackinengland · 06/01/2009 11:36

My hands have swollen up a bit today . It's like typing with sausages attached to my fingers . Just marking here to return later, off to buy more school jumpers before school resumes tomorrow.

Love to MrsY, hope all ok.

MarkStretch · 06/01/2009 11:42

I am still wearing my coat from last winter. Luckily it's a red wool coat which is sorting of fitted across the boobs and then flows downwards. However, I can't do it up anymore and when I turn sideways I look like a sofa.

So I too have been wearing a long black wool scarf down the middle to cover the gapes.

Either than or I just wear loads of layers.

Today I am sporting a fetching style I like to call my 'Tanya Branning' look.

Black tracksuit with elasticated waist tucked into fleecy boots, long sleeve black top underneath, no makeup, hair scraped back, bags under eyes, ginger ex-husband. (Except that bit)

littleboyblue · 06/01/2009 11:44

fgpl How sweet about your ds getting in the bath with you.
Ds has a dinosaur book too, Dinasours Love Underpants and when he gets up from nap all screaming, it's the only thing to calm him down. Now I know it word for word I find myself resiting it if he gets ypset when we are out. Who's the loon in Mothercare saying "Dinasours were all wiped out a long way back in history......"
I wear dp's work fleeces too. He's had to order some more as he now has a big old pouch at the front....
Just waiting for ds to fall asleep so I can climb into bed. Yesterday he was asleep in 6 mins, might take 45 today.

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 06/01/2009 11:47

Morning.

Had a rough night ( as did DH ) i woke up just before 3am with the worst period pain in my lower womb left hand side and my back. I tried to get back to sleep but they carried on coming in waves starting mildly and getting really painful about every 12 mins to every 18. I seriously was in so much pain with each one so i gave the delivery suite a call after one hour of this (was told to as CS is only 4 weeks away now). Anyway went in at 5am eventually when they were starting to tail off ( typical ) and they did the usual monitoring and of course i didnt get a single pain or tightening whilst i was there ( although there was a bit of activity but nothing significant on the trace contractionwise ). Two hours of these pains were enough to convince me that it wasnt round ligament pain though - its my 4th and i know what a bloody contraction feels like!
Anyway am very glad that they stopped for whatever reason, poor DH has had to take the day off work and ive not long woken up ( we didnt get home till half 7 ) but feel exhaused still. God that was scary and soooo painful but rather wished id left it the two hours to call hospital as was wasted journey ( in -8 ) and they would have been stopping by then.

MrsY hope you are ok - i had PE in my first pregnancy and it was a scary time so fingers crossed for you.

I didnt really buy a coat either - i am plus sized anyway so all of my coats fitted me and i never wear them done up just a scarf to fill in the gaps - got to say though its just so cold that im doing an awful lot of staying in atm anyway!

MOS congratulations on your date, its very exciting They gave me the choice between Friday 6th and Monday 8th, needless to say i plumped for the 6th as it cant come soon enough for me. Anymore dramas like last night and ill be terrified i wont make it to the 6th!

littleboyblue · 06/01/2009 11:51

rosie sorry you had rough night. Glad you ok and everything calmed down.

Neeerly3 · 06/01/2009 12:00

rosie, thats scary, certainly sounds like things were kicking off - maybe baby was pressing on your cervix and causing it to soften? I assume they did an internal and you hadn't dilated? Good excuse to do nothing all day now!

I haven't bought a coat, although fell in love with a wrap type one in Zara (couldn't justify £110 though), which I could have worn after baby too...i just wear my wool Next one with a sleeveless wrap cardigan underneath - that covers my belly but doesn't have arms so doesn't bulk out my coat IYSWIM.

Baby is annoying me now, i never been this pregs before and I starting to think I don't like it! Head twisting about and making me need to wee, feet doing a tap dance on my stomach and ribs, and hands punching my kidneys! Just feel enormous and like I am walking with a water melon between my legs - totally unlady like, plus to top it off, can't wear heels, so I look dumpy now as I am only 5ft 2.

My hair is looking OK though, one bonus, hands are like sausages, took my wedding ring off about 2 months ago......GOD LISTEN TO ME, I bloody wanted this baby! STOP WHINGING WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!

PinkPoinsettias · 06/01/2009 12:08

o dear... looks like there was a mass swelling of fab febbers last night.

i still can't get my rings on since having ds so happily have no way of noticing if i swell up even more

fgpl... i can never wear bras beyond about 6 months pregnant.... it's done wonders for my boobage as you can imagine i find even a bra 3/4 sizes too big on the chest still feels like i'm being squeezed, underwirdre are slightly beter but had to give up even them a few weeks ago except for dashng out to the shops or playschool (i'm enough of a mess when i go out without boobs flapping all over the shop!)

no coat here either... have been meaning to buy one for years but i'm always either pregnant or still fat from being pregnant and refuse to pay for a coat that will be useless in a year..... that said if i'd bought one when preg with dd i would have gotton 4 years out of it

freezing here too.... dp has been all manly and chopped up the xmas tree for compost and firewood so lord knows he'll sit on his arse for the day now! it's nice having the house back to normal though, normally i hate the decorations coming down but they were making me antzy this year with baby imminent.

in the no sleep club here as well sadly, horrible heartburn, back ache, bump ache, whole body ache.... 4 weeks left and it'll all be over though..... fingers crossed anyway. lord knows if this had been my first preg dd would still be an only child!!!
