A sparkling new thread in time for christmas

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

LBB - cant hurt speaking to your neighbour in case you need to call on her in an emergency; though as takes a while for labour to get going (unless you're Laidback of course) hopefully you'll have plenty of time to get your mum over to yours to look after your DS and for your DP to get back.

Herbgarden - when had quick scan through the earlier posts wondered if "sherbert dib dab" was a euphenism for something . Then saw it involved 5 year olds... must get my mind out of the gutter...

Pluto - congrats on getting all your uber nesting done! Most impressed.

dinkystinky · 04/01/2009 21:50

I can beat you on the embarrassing blubbing stakes LBB - cried at Shrek 3 the other week.. how sad is that?

PinkPoinsettias · 04/01/2009 21:51

i sobbed because i missed my cat giving birth and i felt bad that she had to do it alone

she's a cat ffs... she's probably have been more annoyed if i'd been there!

then i sobbed at how tiny and pink the babies were and now i well up because they look like teeny little cats and i find it so overwhelming that they've grwon into teeny little cats from eggs and sperm in less than 4 months.

and sometimes i cry because one of them has just bitten my finger and it really freaking hurts

i take hormonal and over emotional to slightly absurd levels.... much to dp's vast amusment

Questionkid · 04/01/2009 21:54

So exciting that TBM has had her little girl - sounds like all is going well so far. Congrats TBM, can't wait to hear how things are going. Meanwhile will catch up on FB.

I'm back at home now - had a lovely relaxing time with my parents but missed DH too much and also felt worried about being 200 miles away from home in case anything were to happen. Feel relieved to be at home knowing the hospital is just up the road. And hopefully after tomorrow or the next day my hospital bag will be ready and all the clothes, blankets etc will be washed and ready to go.

MS - we're on maternity leave, how exciting is that!! It's going to be so nice not to have to get up for work tomorrow. Hooray!

I've also been getting lots of bump pains, interupted sleep etc.

Is anyone else getting lots of braxton hicks too? I seem to get them pretty regularly and it can be really uncomfortable.

Meant to say, according to the MW last week my baby is 2/5 engaged. I think that's a good thing?!

nkweto · 04/01/2009 21:56

lbb.. look at littlesez's photo's, i think that is the only way to see them...got to go to bed now.. am exhausted

littleboyblue · 04/01/2009 21:58

PP I'd cry at that too. Surely that's normal and not stupid pregnancy stuff, your cat is part of the family, no?
Congrats to your cat, how lovely.

dinky got a more embarrasing one, was playing in living room with ds the other day, dp came and put tv on and the sequel to Peter Pan was on, a cartoon where Wendy was all grown up and it was her daughters turn in Neverland or some crap like that, it was the last 10 minutes and I was in floods of tears, hadn't even watched it!

Dp tells everyone that I cry at adverts, and I don't. It's only the SMA follow on milk one where the dad is holding baby looking at mum out the window and saying how she has made him the happiest dd in the world or something........

littleboyblue · 04/01/2009 21:59

How do I see littlesez's photo's? Does she need to be my friendGoing back to FB now then

dinkystinky · 04/01/2009 22:00

Ok LBB - you win on the embarrassing blubbing front with that last one

Right off to bed for my nightly kicking from Squigs.. night all.

PinkPoinsettias · 04/01/2009 22:04

dp wants to watch 'the assassination of jesse james' on sky.... better be good as i can't sit at the pc any longer so will be stuck on the couch watching it with him!

night ladies... hope we all have a peaceful and rest filled one...... fat chance eh?!

littleboyblue · 04/01/2009 22:06

littlesez I sent you a friend request on FB as don't know how else to view pics. Hope that's ok.
Goodnight all.

littlesez · 05/01/2009 05:41

Sorry guys, i just assumed the pics would be up on tbms profile for you but thats what i see as she is a friend, if not just add me its sara ashpital (theres only one i think!)

laidback I had a dream yesterday that i had my baby and it made me emotional all day, my mum told me when she was pg she dreamt she gave birth to a litter of pups! I cried again last night because i dropped a glass?

dinky you are the thread title queen!

I cant sleep, wake up desperate for loo but couldnt get back off not sure staring at a bright screen is gonna help but hey at least i dont have work. I really feel for all who havent finished for mat leave, i dont know how you do it. Im actually going into work this week but only to observe, so its not the same because im choosing to go in. spending afternoon with my assisant coach to hand everything over today too.

xxx

MarkStretch · 05/01/2009 07:40

Morning!

I have been awake since 5am too Littlesez (have requested you on FB too)!

Woke up for a wee, then tossed and turned until getting up and making tea/putting washing on at 6am. DH was most surprised when he came in. I had even topped up the goldfish water!

We have SNOW! Only a bit at the moment but it is due to snow all day here and not get much above freezing. We have dd's friend here playing for the day and my car is going into the garage so I'm planning on doing some cooking and hospital bag packing in my warm house. Brrrrrrr.

littleboyblue · 05/01/2009 07:47

Morning all. It's been snowing here too. Looked lovely this morning before everyone started going to work.
Does anyone else get the worst pain in ribs whaen pee? Very odd.
Have that scan this afternoon, I'm very excited.
This is the stage I went on mat leave last time, couldn't have gone on much longer so hats off to those of you sticking it out.

LittleMissNorty · 05/01/2009 08:08

Morning all .....I'm sleeping so badly and DH moaned at me that I snored all night....couldn't have been all night, cos a fair amount of it was spent getting up and going to the loo

This is my first proper day of mat leave as well, so hopefully DD will have a nice nap later on and I can relax in the bath

My house is a tip......

McDreamy · 05/01/2009 08:11

I also had a terrible nights sleep. Just couldn't get comfy and drop off. Have woken up to a covering of snow though so will be out with the children later to try and build a snowman!

DH starts his new job today after 3.5 weeks off. I will miss my mid afternoon nap

McDreamy · 05/01/2009 08:12

Anyone got swollen legs at the end of the day? Mine were really bad last night, deep sock marks! Will have to keep my feet up a bit more today

LittleMissNorty · 05/01/2009 08:17

We've got snow as well....just a couple of cm though.....although its snowing atm.

I haven't suffered too much with swollen feet this time....last time I carried during the Spring and Summer and my feet were a nightmare!

You obviously are doing too much and need to rest up!

Good luck to your DH McDreamy....I hate starting new jobs!

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 05/01/2009 08:27

Morning from snowy Swindon Hope you all had a great weekend.
Spent mine doing the girls room - bought them a loft bed and made it a bit more habitable whilst DH put up the bed
Going to have a fairly easy day today mooching around on mumsnet and a bit of general housework (as had such a busy weekend) but nothing too taxing, wish i had something exciting to tell you but apart from being v v organised ( not like me at all!!!) i have not much of anything exciting going on to speak of.
McDreamy, nothing swollen here yet ... am surprised though as i always used to lose my ankles at around this point in pregnancy but then again all of my pregnancys have been summer ones so maybe thats why. LMN is right ... take it easy!

mumoverseas · 05/01/2009 08:41

morning all. What is sleep? I've not been getting that for weeks, so awful isn't it. I'm tired, but just can't get to sleep or if I do, I have to get up for the toilet run about 4 times a night. Like someone else said, it is natures way of preparing us for the sleepless nights we are going to get!

Snow! how lovely, shame we didn't have that when back in the UK as DD hasn't seen it.

Just looked on facebook but couldn't see any piccies of Sian I'm sure she is gorgeous though and we'll get to see them soon.

Have started the washing and ironing of some old baby clothes and blankets and guess I need to think about packing a bag soon. Although I'm officially the last to drop (28th Feb) we have a hospital appt tomorrow and should get a date for the CS and if DD is anything to go by it will be around 3 weeks early. It will be lovely to get a date so we can start making arrangements for care of DD.

Dinky, so glad your DS is recovering and didn't seem too put out by his experience.

Herbgarden, are you on facebook as I couldn't see you? Think we are 'buddies' ref the birth announcements so we need to exchange details. Don't worry, you won't have to phone Saudi, I have kept my UK mobile so a text to that is the same as a normal UK number and it just costs me. If you are not on facebook I'll give you my email address on here and we can then email phone numbers etc. Getting very real now isn't it?

Anyway, enjoy your snow those of you that have it. I'm cooking a roast today as my DH's friend is coming for dinner and have already made a key lime pie and chocolate muffins for DD and DS. Think I will be a little pile on the floor in a few hours (wonder if this is my version of 'nesting' as I don't do the washing and cleaning anyway as the houseboy does that?)

dinkystinky · 05/01/2009 08:47

Morning all. Dusting of snow around our way too and as am looking out of the office window now, its snowing in central london again. So glad Squiglet is not due to come just yet!

LittleSez, Markstretch - I too was awake at 5 (annoyingly Squiglet was letting me sleep but pesky burglar alarm down the road woke me up then impossible to go back to sleep so spent an hour just enjoying snuggling under the duvet) - must be an obligatory pregnancy thing. Those of you on mat leave today, enjoy the duvet as much as humanly possible!

McDreamy - had that swelling thing in my last pregnancy towards the end (only coming up to 34 weeks now so expecting it in a couple of weeks and am obsessively checking for swelling in my fingers on a daily basis to figure out when to remove my engagement and wedding ring). You could try lying on your back with your feet directly up a wall to reduce the swelling (safe to lie on your back if you do this) or just massaging your ankles 3 times a day which will also help with the water retention. Sorry you're losing your afternoon nap

Only 4 weeks left at work and then mat leave starts. Cant wait as tube was back to its usual sardines tin again this morning....

littleboyblue · 05/01/2009 08:49

Dp has just called from work, there's supposed to be 6 of them on this job and only one other person has turned up so he can't get out for the scan. Gutted. I told him this morning just to call and say he couldn't go in but no he doesn't like to let people down. Can't believe he can't come.
Bugger, now I've got to get the bus, and it's so cold. My bro is coming to the house to be with ds so at least that's something.

MoS request Littlesez as a friend, the pics are on her wall. Have just seen them, Sian is a little sweetheart!

dinkystinky · 05/01/2009 08:50

Hmm, MoS - those desserts sound delicious!

I think you need to make sure that LittleSez is your friend on Facebook (I couldnt see them till I did that) - then if you look at her photos there are the tagged photos of Sian on there. She looks so cute - and alot like her mum I think from the photo of the 2 of them together...

LittleMissNorty · 05/01/2009 09:06

Ahhh shame about DH not getting to the scan LBB ....

Dinky, I admire you for working till 38 weeks...last time I was on my knees by 36 weeks and this time I was more than ready to stop at 33 weeks. I love my job and am doing bits and bobs from home, but do not miss the early mornings and 40 minute drive.....how you do a packed tube journey is beyond me.

LBB / MOS, don't think you are on my FB friends list....going to send a request now.

then I am going to get off my backside and empty the dishwasher and tumble dryer.

littleboyblue · 05/01/2009 09:43

dinky 38 weeks! Wow, good for you.
Just accepted your friend request LMN your lo is a cutie too isn't she

littleboyblue · 05/01/2009 09:52

Dp is coming to scan now! Yay!!!! His line manager who is off for a few days called him to wish us luck for later and when dp said he couldn't go, his boss has said he'll give the big boss a call at about 11 saying that I've called him as dp left phone at home and that I've said I think baby is coming so he can leave and will then tell them it's a false alarm.
Not sure why I couldn't have phoned dp directly, and not really sure why he just can't say they need to check baby's size on a scan?
