A sparkling new thread in time for christmas

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PinkPoinsettias · 04/01/2009 17:07

having the opposite problem here this weekend..... sleeping endlessly, sat on my ass resting when not asleep and still feel exhausted!

poor kids are so bored of me at this stage i want to have this baby just so life can start getting back to normal for them

littleboyblue · 04/01/2009 17:09

Think most of us are at that stage now MS horrible isn't it?

LMN He is only allowed the crayons when I am there and we are scribbling together, but somehow I still manage to find them in the strangest of places. Think he must hoard them up his sleeve!

littlesez · 04/01/2009 17:28

HI ladies, have posted two pics on facebook of tbm and baby, tagged her in them so they are on her profile.

I cried in the middel of boots before just because i looked at a baby, whats going on! Reality kicking in.

lbb I am due on 15th Feb, but keep telling myself 1st March so I can try and get my head round it if she is late, or if she is on time will be a bonus!

littleboyblue · 04/01/2009 17:29

That's a good idea littlesez On ds's due date, me and dp were sitting on sofa, thinking come on then! Was such an anti-climax, the next 6 days dragged by.
Heading over to FB noe for a look at TBM

Neeerly3 · 04/01/2009 17:36

hi all - another permenantly shattered person here.....had a lie in most mornings over thsi xmas, DH has spoilt me rotten, but I am still ready for bed by 9pm the next night!

Popped into town this arvo, sans enfant, and bought a few maternity bits from peacocks - I am pleasantly surprised, cheap but very flattering! Also popped into Next and bought myself some flat work shoes for £8!

Is anyone else who doesn't know the bumps flavour finding it hard finding some nice clothes to buy for 'it'......the neutral ranges seem very limited - I want something cute and knitted to bring bub home in that I have bought. I know I will get bought loads and I have loads of pending handmedowns ragardless of colour, but I want to buy just one thing.......

littleboyblue · 04/01/2009 17:36

ls I'm being a thicko (again) where are the pics? If TBM is tagged in them, shouldn't they come up on my wall if she is my friend? Have looked on her wall/profile and looked on the discussion board and can't see them. Am I the dumbest person on the planet?

turkeyandherbstuffinggarden · 04/01/2009 18:26

Hi neerly - I don't know flavour either and have found it a bit of a pain on the last minute shopping front. I do though have lots of neutral vests and babygros, a couple of cardis from first time round etc which I'm hoping will be fine for the first week or so. Everything else is blue but tbh if it's a she and she's in blue for a couple of days it'll be fine. Small price to pay for keeping the surprise I wanted I s'pose. I bought a really sweet white fleecy soft all in one to bring baby home in from mothercare. When ds was born it was so hot he lived in vests for the first 3 months so most of my newborn neutral stuff is hardly worn at all. But, agreed it is quite limiting.

Spent my afternoon digging out and washing all the newborn clothes/blankets etc so like you MS I'm feeling a bit more prepared.

Ikea is now tomorrow so I can get a chest of drawers and other storage stuff and finally get everything I've washed either tidied away or packed in my hospital bag

I don't have any great urge to clean - just organise. I have a cleaner who comes on a Tuesday so other than the day to day cleaning, need to make sure I've not done her out of a job . I was still in my pj's at 11am today - DS has spent all day in his. I am becoming a slob but I have definitely got to that just can't be bothered stage and with the weather not even getting above freezing getting myself and ds out of the door is proving quite an effort...

dinkystinky · 04/01/2009 18:33

Evening all. DS is improving by the day so thanks all again for your kind words. Amazing how bloody resilient kids are. He loved telling his grandparents all about his trip to hospital though so obviously hasnt scarred him for life

Csec ladies: all my doctor friends (who have C-secs) have all had waxes done a few days before the scheduled event as they say there is no way they'd let a nurse with a bic razor anywhere near them, so MoS is giving doctor endorsed advice there!

Re photos after birth - there are only one or two that had me in and I look awful in those, so we didnt send any of them around (we sent one around with my dad and DS when dad came to visit us in hospital when DS was 2 days old instead - he was much less puffy by then too ).

Am another insomniac over here due to Squiglet - no sooner do i drop off than he starts his kickboxing routine. I swear he was doing a 360 degree jackie chan routine last night... Oh well, only another 6 to 8 weeks of this to go.

dinkystinky · 04/01/2009 18:34

Also - think DH is doing his nesting for me - he's just tidied up the living room! Long may it last...

dinkystinky · 04/01/2009 18:45

Oh yes, had thought for next thread name

"Fab Feb 2009: holy sh*t, this is it "

Sort of sums up how everyone seems to be feeling at the moment...

PinkPoinsettias · 04/01/2009 18:49

dinky.... this is the first time my nesting hasn't been able to keep up with the mess (thanks kids!) and i'm going mad... don't have the energy to do much but keep seeing 1000 and one jobs that i want done..... dp barely does the evening clean up though, he simply doesn't see the mess.

neerly, also don't know the flavour and absolutely hate white so have settled for lots of browny beige and blue stuff that are technically boys clothes... figure a little girl can be feminised fairly easily with a girly cardi on top of which i have several remaining from dd and tbh... it only has to do for a month or so until i can get out and buy lots of gender specific stuff (or if like the other 2 times i'll be in the shops within a week!)

LittleMissNorty · 04/01/2009 19:53

Love the new thread title

MarkStretch · 04/01/2009 20:18

Am glad everyone else is feeling knackered! I just snoozed on the sofa for an hour while dd bounced on my birthing ball chattering away. I think I may have grunted answers but I can't be sure.

Thank god I don't have to go to work tomorrow!

DH is on nights and I am missing him being about. He also has a run of 5 night shifts the 3rd week in January, he only works 5 mins up the road and can come home at a minutes notice but for some reason I'm really nervous about things starting and him not being here.

I have decided my plan should things start off is to stay at home for as long as possible until I can no longer manage the pain, and then go in, therefore hopefully reducing the amount of time in hospital. That is my plan, it remains to be seen if it will actually happen.......

nkweto · 04/01/2009 20:37

MS. I think we have an identical birth plan (assuming baby swings round into the correct position !)

Dinky, glad to hear DS has recovered from his trauma.. sounded scarey. love the thread name..sums up my feelings lol

Littlesez.. photos are great.. and as i said.. i cried.. I will be a big blubbery mess when everyone starts popping!

MS.. exhausted here too... really wish I didnt have 2 weeks left at work.. which is not much in the general scheme of things but seems like a long time

lbb... will definately try the baby oil trick...

All of you doing baby clothes buying, sorting and washing.. very impressed I must get on with it!

littleboyblue · 04/01/2009 20:44

herb I've now realised that ds's clothes might not be much good as he was a summer baby.
I wanted to have a pj day today but didn't have any loo roll or washing powder so had to go out. Was freezing!

dinky glad your ds is ok.
Love the new thread title

MS My dp is on nights the week the baby is due and am very nervous about that. He gets sent all over so won't even know where he'll be. Been thinking maybe it'd be a good idea to chuck some stuff in hospital bag for ds just in case I have to take him with me, you know like a drink, some snacks to keep him happy, a book or 2 and a toy.........And told my mum to pack herself an overnight bag so she can come over quickly if need be.

littleboyblue · 04/01/2009 20:45

nkweto where are TBM's photos? I can't find them!

PinkPoinsettias · 04/01/2009 20:55

lbb, do you know any of the neighbours well enough to say 'look i probably won't need you and if i do it will only be for and hour til my mother gets here but is there any way you could come round to sit with ds if i go into labour?'

most people would be really flattered and happy to do it.... and a nice bottle of wine and some chocs stashed in a cupboard for your mom to hand them as they head home would help enormously as well i'd imagine!

i also can't find TBMs photoes

turkeyandherbstuffinggarden · 04/01/2009 20:57

lbb sounds a v.sensible idea to me and at least then you won't be worrying when you least need to that you've thought of the important things for him....I think I'd do the same if I was in your shoes.

Dh is watching the best of Top Gear- clashes with Lark Rise which I wanted to watch but felt a bit mean insisting as I have the next 2 days to myself and can probably sneak some telly watching in !...

Must retrieve my final load of washing/drying from the machine. That thing has been going ALL day.

laidbackinamangernocribforabed · 04/01/2009 20:59

Evening all. This weekend I have mostly been nesting too. Also getting some 'ripening' pains that I remember getting for the few weeks before I had DS3... Off to search for TBM's pictures too.

littleboyblue · 04/01/2009 21:01

The only neighbour I know (only lived here 6 months) is the lady downstairs, don't know her terribly well, she is due her first baby on 27th Feb so we only ever talk pregnancy and babies. I'm sure she'd be perfectly trustworthy but not sure as she so late in preg, although I'd do it for her.
Think if it did come to it and she came up to sit with ds, I'd be worried about him, how he was dealing with being left with a relative stranger iykwim. Although he does seem to recognise her if we bump into her outside and is happy and smiley to her and he doesn't really have a prob with strangers after the initial silly shy face. I might talk to her in the week, see what how she feels about it.

PinkPoinsettias · 04/01/2009 21:07

sounds like a perfect arrangment as you can offer some babysitting in return once her lo is born

pluto · 04/01/2009 21:08

Nesting big time here. New study is ready and lovely. DH spent all morning putting together an IKEA desk which is great and I did two trips to the tip / recycling and spent an hour tidying up the garden and shed. Babe's room is piled full of all its stuff plus some furniture we want to try to sell before we can put cot together and really get everything straight.

Back to work tomorrow for a fornight then babygros can be laundered and hospital bag packed. It's all getting quite exciting isn't it?

laidbackinamangernocribforabed · 04/01/2009 21:38

lbb to see TBM's photo's you need go via littlesez's photos , I have just had a look, she is very sweet !!

laidbackinamangernocribforabed · 04/01/2009 21:42

littlesez, I had to smile at you weeping at the sight of a baby in Boots, I am ashamed to say I welled up at the sight of a ewe feeding a lamb, and I remember sobbing some time ago watching a giraffe giving birth to a baby giraffe (a giraffelet ? or more likely a foal ??) . It is just all so amazing isn't it that we grow these babies inside of us and then they come out as wonderful little human beings ? [ sighs in awe at mother nature]

littleboyblue · 04/01/2009 21:45

I just cried watching Look Who's Talking.
