So excited to be starting my first thread!!!

Just had a BFP this morning a couple of days before AF is due and according to FF, my EDD is 1st September 09.

I have one DD (March 05) and had MMC in late September this year, so a little nervous but really ready for this.

Looking forward to a few more people joining me on here!

i just cant read - sorry BigBang

undercovermummy · 07/01/2009 16:30

I thought that the MW appts were between 6&8wks and was surprised to find that they are now between 8&10wks. With ds i am sure mine was at 6wks and then dd was at about 7.

Had a very restless night and just couldnt get comfy. Sore back etc etc. Jeez how am i going to feel when i am the size of a house?!

bigbang · 07/01/2009 16:42

No worries! I prob should have added myself anyway- new to all this!

TrixieBelden · 07/01/2009 16:52

Hello nice new people.

*detoxdiva? is that 8-week scan on the NHS? I know so little about the way antenatal care is handled in the UK, I can't figure out if it's standard to get an 8-week scan here or not.

I've told a couple of close friends, because let's face it, if I m/c then I'll want them around to cry to anyway. And told my mother last week, so by Friday everyone within a fifty-mile radius of her will have heard the news.

cautiousmum - your m/c in August must have been so hard. I mean, they all are, but to be that far along...I'm so glad you've got a BFP to take the sting away this week.

No real nausea for me today and yesterday, just zero appetite whatsoever. Which is just so contrary to how I normally feel, it's quite unnerving! And I'm asleep on my feet. Counting the hours till I put DD to bed and I can follow right behind her...

cautiousmumtobe · 07/01/2009 17:18

My experience from being in MN antinatal clubs previously is that midwife care varies massively depending on where you live. Where I am, you have a booking in appointment and scan at 10-12 weeks then you don't see anyone until 20 weeks for that scan. After that, I think it's every 4 weeks but from 12 to 20 weeks is a massive gap. Last time, I went in to see my midwife at 16 weeks to get some requested bloods repeated and got a 'why are you here?' response from the midwife which was not great! Fortunately, I'm being looked after by the Consultant this time round so I know i'll get better care and extra appointments for reassurance.

The variation is a bit shocking actually. Last time round loads of people seemed to be getting nuchal scans on the NHS and I was in a panic cause that's not offered in my area. There should be a standard set of care which every Mum in the UK receives but I guess this is the NHS. Gutted you can't go private!

detoxdiva · 07/01/2009 17:18

Hi Trixie - no, it's a private scan that we've arranged with BabyBond. I had a missed miscarriage in Oct that wasn't picked up until my 12 weeks scan, and have booked this one as I can't face going to 12 weeks again if things haven't progressed as they should. I know what you mean - maternity care differs so much across the country - here I get a 12 and 20 weeks scan, but dd was born in Bristol where you only get 1 scan at 20 weeks.

undercovermummy · 07/01/2009 17:52

We get our booking in appt at 8-10wks, then a scan at about 12, then a mw appt to listen for heartbeat at 16wks then 20wk scan then i think its every 4wks after that for mw appts until you get to about 36wks when it goes to every 2 wks

TrixieBelden · 07/01/2009 18:27

Thanks, ladies - it really is baffling for me. That a nuchal scan isn't standard all over the country is especially worrying to one of my advanced age (ahem).

kookykid · 07/01/2009 19:11

Evening all and Welcome everynewBFP!

Lix if you're still around FWIW I conceived this pregnancy straight after my early m/c in November. (I completely ignored the advice to wait a cycle before ttc again !) Good luck!

I haven't even called the docs yet, but planning to do it tomorrow as I won't be at work (hoooooray!). Have no idea how it works here as I had DD when we were still in London and had 12 week and 20 week scans as well as monthly visits with the MW. (Also had several post-date scans, but that's another story!).

LittleRascal · 07/01/2009 19:27

Lix- glad u are lurking still. I did the same with my last one. (after my mmc at abt 10 weeks, we also started straight away and it worked)- so good luck and please keep us informed!

HellHathNoFury- you made me laugh with the kitkat and the terraced house!!!

We have told people about this pg as we are terrible with secrets!!!

KriKay · 07/01/2009 19:46

Hi there. Got BFP on Monday. Think Im due 13th September, so only 4+3, so early!

Have DD1(nearly 5) and DD2 (18 months).

This pg wasnt planned, so taking a bit of time to get my head around! Cant imagine having 3 !! Havent told anyone yet, I need to get used to the idea myself first!!

Not much symptoms, slightly sore BB, a bit sicky at times, nothing much, crampy. Hate the early stages, cant wait till further on!

Look forward to 'talking' to you all over the next wee while!!

Oh, how do you add your stats to the list?

Heatherxx

scardypants · 08/01/2009 09:02

hi everyone,

I've been feeling unwell the last couple of days. Not morning sickness, just not right. I also had more brown spotting last night

I'm terrified I'll get bad news in the EPU tomorrow. I still have pregnancy symptoms, sore boobs, tiredness etc but because I had brown spotting already and was told it was old implantation blood I know this must be something new.

I'll post back tomorrow.

Hope you're all keeping well.

undercovermummy · 08/01/2009 09:12

Scardy, i'm so sorry that you are having to play this nasty waiting game, it must be unbearable. I have my fingers firmly crossed that you get a positive outcome tomorrow. Sending you lots of hugs x

scardypants · 08/01/2009 11:21

thanks undercovermummy

8am tomorrow seems like an eternity away. My mind keeps changing from panic to strangely calm. Every time I feel a bit sick or feel the soreness in my boobs I think it'll be ok then I remind myself that with a MMC you can still 'feel' pregnant for some time.

I'm trying not to think about it too much but it's hard.

All I can do is wait and pray.

I'm going to spend the day getting lost in tv and MN and hopefully go to bed early tonight and get to tomorrow without too much upset.

scaredypants, wishing you all the best, i hope it will be just some weird spotting and you'll go on to have a lovely pregnancy.

it's quite hard in the first trimester, i think we all do a lot of worrying.

as for me, i'm just praying my ds goes to sleep for a nap soon, as i'm dying for one myself. he's just been chattering away in his cot for an hour.

TrixieBelden · 08/01/2009 15:39

Poor scardypants, the day must be just creeping by. I really hope the spotting is nothing. Hope there's something absorbing on TV.

Had to have a nap this afternoon before I became a danger to myself and others. Sooo sleepy. I went to the gym and yoga, thinking it would wake me up a bit, but just the opposite. grrrr.

kookykid · 08/01/2009 16:33

Scardy - I am so sorry you are feeling so worried. Hopefully the scan will reveal all is well. FWIW I had no morning sickness with DD, just felt tired and that something was 'different'. Also the fact that spotting is brown rather than red is a good sign. Thinking of you.

I am sitting here eating a massive portion of toast and peanut butter... eating seems to help the sicky feeling pass. Feel so much worse than i did with DD!

LittleCheese · 08/01/2009 16:40

Hi Ladies, Hope you are well.

Scardy I hope you arnt too worried and things sort themselves out quickly.

I was hoping for a bit of reasurance today, I went for a job interviewearly september when I wasnt pg and had just stopped tying, they have now offered me the job and I have accepted and start a week on monday, however I have not told them im pregnant and im feeling quite nervous about telling them. I know nothing bad can come of it im just a worrier.

kookykid · 08/01/2009 16:47

LC - you don't have to tell your employer for AGES! And Congratulations on the new job!

andi0411 · 08/01/2009 17:15

Hi everyone- thanks Bigbang and Cautious for the advice but it looks like it's over for me. I have started bleeding and have 2 more very neg PT's. Do you think it was a very early MC ie/ one I wouldn't have even known abouot were i not TTC? Please don't feel too sorry for me because in a weird way I see this positively- at least something is happening for me and actually this happened to me before I conceived my son. The bleeding is not as heavy as my period normally is but I only bleed in pg if I am losing or have lost the baby...with my son I never bled once. Good luck ladies I'll watch out for you and will hopefully be joining another lovely group very soon.
Andrea xx

LittleCheese · 08/01/2009 17:36

Andi sorry to hear that, I think the early MC you mention might be known as a chemical pregnancy (dont quote methough)

undercover I know what you mean about not being able to sleep, I am finding it so difficult to get comfy in bed and i dont even have a smidgin of a bump yet so im not looking forward to sleepng when im bigger

kookykid · 08/01/2009 18:00

Andi sorry to hear about your bleeding.
In Novemeber I had a very similar situation to you. We had been ttc for about a year and finally got a BFP 2 days after AF was due. A couple of days later I started bleeding. It was so early in the pregnancy, and as you said if we hadn't been actively ttc I might not have even realised I was pg. I then got pregnant straight away. Don't know if there's any truth in the "you're more fertile after a m/c" but it seems that it was that way for me!

Good luck with ttc and come back and let us know how you get on.

bigbang · 08/01/2009 20:33

Andi, really sorry to hear that. I admire your positivity and as you say hopefully you will be back joining another group soon, all the best.
