So excited to be starting my first thread!!!

Just had a BFP this morning a couple of days before AF is due and according to FF, my EDD is 1st September 09.

I have one DD (March 05) and had MMC in late September this year, so a little nervous but really ready for this.

Looking forward to a few more people joining me on here!

Nothing exciting to add today.

Got my mw appt 3wks today - still feels ages away!

detoxdiva · 14/01/2009 17:25

Hi - welcome to the new bfp's

Had first appointment with mw today - filled in a load of forms, talked about all the usual stuff - diet, tests, scans, which hosp etc etc. Said I wanted a homebirth if poss, and she said I would be an ideal candidate based on my straightforward pg and birth with dd - [grin - good news.

Also asked about an early scan on NHS - unlikely by the sounds of it as everybody who's had a mc asks! So we'll stick with our BabyBond one - 13 days to go!!

Still no symptoms here - not even the tiredness I had with dd. Very weird to be feeling so 'normal'

Snowfalls - I am in a similar position - have a work party a week on Sat. Only 2 friends know and I don't want it common knowledge until after scan! Am going to order 1 glass of wine and make it last...topping up with lemonade if needed! Have also instructed my friends in the know to buy me 'g&t's' - i.e. lemonade!! I think everyone sees through the antibiotic excuse don't they? Esp women - I'd be suspicious if I heard someone say that - maybe it's just me and my suspicious mind!! Can you just say it's your turn to drive?

detoxdiva · 14/01/2009 17:27

Either that or say you have a severe gynae infection.....no-one will ask any further questions

StealthPo09IsHere · 14/01/2009 17:35

Hi everyone
I fell asleep after putting DS to bed last night, think tonight will be similar!

lemonmoon · 14/01/2009 18:12

evening everyone and congrats to the new bfps

antibiotics are tricksy as an excuse - I last had them for a cold that turned into a chest infection if that helps. Given everyone's been ill that might help. I mostly just felt a bit breathless but the doc listened to my chest and judged me fit for the pills. Otherwise driving, or claiming something very early on Saturday morning?? Difficult - if it was a party you'd have a better chance of just 'accidentally' putting your drink down somewhere.

My friend just knew the other night when I saw her anyway, god knows how. She kept asking pointed questions about my cycle (she knew I'd come off the pill) until I just cracked.

StealthPo09IsHere · 14/01/2009 18:36

I'm going to see friends in early Feb, and doubt I''ll be able to not tell them!
Definitely agree with the leave your drink somewhere plan!

bigbang · 14/01/2009 18:45

I made one glass of wine last all night at a party last week, the left it (full) on the side as I was leaving. No one noticed/ presumed I had been having refills. I am a terrible liar and would have given myself away if I had made up a story!

pooka · 14/01/2009 19:02

Ear infection? That could be something that wouldn't require you to pretend to have a cough or anything. Alternatively, if you're a bit off your food anyway, a tooth abscess?

TigerFeet · 14/01/2009 21:24

Hi everyone

APrilMeadow you'll find that decloaking is actually rather liberating

I saw the GP today, he's referred me to the MW. I have my booking in appointment sorted for 10th Feb which happens to be my 35th birthday. GP reckons I might be considered an older mum because I will be 35 early in the pregancy - omg I AM NOT OLD . Apparently I may get an extra scan at 28-30 weeks which I don't really mind, I loved the scans with dd and would have gone every week if I could.

I have wondered about a homebirth but I'm not sure that dh is too keen. Also if I'm an older mum [harrumph] and I am also rather overweight, not sure if I'd struggle to get the medical establishment to support me. I may well ask about it at the booking in appointment, stick a toe in the water, and see what the response is. From both the midwife and dh.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 15/01/2009 06:41

I survived my work Christmas party by saying (honestly!) I needed to drive early the next morning. Also meant I got to leave before midnight

Pleased to hear telling parents went ok Aprilmeadow. We're going to tell ours some time in Feb once I've got a scan date. Still more early than I'd like but we've got a couple of close friends we want to tell and should really tell parents first.

Just thought I would add to my details, hopefully we will have a due date next Tuesday.

LittleCheese · 15/01/2009 10:17

Morning Ladies Hope you are all well

I nearly had a nervous breakdown this morning DH started a new job last month and has unfortunately had to have 2 days off sick earlier this week ( all three of us of had a flu like bug ) any way he has returned to work today (pay day) and I checked the online bank and he has only been paid just less than half of his wage. He has asked at work and apparently as he was absent without leave just before pay day and a new collegue as a precortion they have only paid him for half a month and they can give him no gaurantees as to when they will pay him the rest.

This is not good information to give a pregnant lady as we need that mony to pay our rent, I just want to sit and cry all day

PurpleCrazyHorse · 15/01/2009 11:14

Sorry Littlecheese - could you contact Citizens Advice and see if they can give you some info? I've used them before and they were excellent and even told me exactly what to say. Hoping you can get it sorted asap.

LJ29 · 15/01/2009 11:30

Morning ladies, sorry to hear the LC hope it works out. I have been lurking but not posting for a while. I have had a couple of episodes of light bleeding that have frightened the life out of me. Docs are useless and because I am less than 6 weeks won't send me for a scan. The bleeding is very light and pinky red in colour. No pain just mild discomfort, not wear near as strong as period pain. Still doing positive PG tests but am so anxious. Last lot was on Monday night but has started up again this morning. I know that there is absolutley nothing I can do and just have to wait and see what happens but its the not knowing that is driving me mad. I don't have a walk in EPU so can't even go there.

Just after some TLC really!!

StealthPo09IsHere · 15/01/2009 12:54

Oh LJ, that must be so stressful When will you be 6 weeks?

Snowfalls108 · 15/01/2009 12:59

Yipee,
just had a call from the hospital with my dates for appointments.
My checking in appointment is on 2 Feb and my scan is on 2 March.
How exciting.
Great to now know when something is happening. Can count down the days to then.

LJ29 · 15/01/2009 13:04

Stealth not 6 weeks until Saturday. I don't really want to go for a scan too early either only to be told they can't see anything. Going to keep an eye on it and then talk to midwife at booking in app on the 2nd when I will be 8 weeks. I have felt sick all day and nipples feel like they have clamps on them, lots of blue veins across chest and absolutely exhausted so plenty of symptoms and DH is trying to keep me positive. I have accepted that what will be will be as I am a great believer in fate its just the not knowing that is so frustrating.
