So excited to be starting my first thread!!!

Just had a BFP this morning a couple of days before AF is due and according to FF, my EDD is 1st September 09.

I have one DD (March 05) and had MMC in late September this year, so a little nervous but really ready for this.

Looking forward to a few more people joining me on here!

Evening all - welcome to all the new BFP's. So many of us on this thread now.

Still no symptoms here at all - not even the tiredness that I had with dd and my mc pg. Clearly I'm not imagining being pg, but it feels strange to feel so normal - HeadFairy said her symptoms were worse with her mc pg which I can agree with, so trying not to worry about things too much

Have 1st appointment with mw on Wed (will be 6+5) to fill in all the paperwork and get my notes. Then it's just a case of waiting until my hospital call me for my 12 weeks sacn (have private one in 2 weeks). Am keen to have a homebirth though so will be asking lots of questions about that.

cautiousmumtobe · 12/01/2009 20:07

Hi all. Congrats to all the new BFPs and welcome.
Scardy and Andi - not sure if you are still around but I am so, so sorry for your loss.
I saw the dr on Friday and got the number to phone to make my booking in appointment at the hospital but they are not booking Feb appointments yet - typical! They're going to call back when they are. Bet I end up having to ring back cause they forget. Seems like so long to wait for 'real' confirmation.
No real symptoms here - sense of smell has gone mad though and really can't face loading the dishwasher. Well, that's what I tell DH anyway.

Snowfalls108 · 12/01/2009 20:52

oo the MS has kicked in with a vegence. Supper went down, and then came straight back up again! Lovely.

TheTickListQueen · 12/01/2009 20:53

I had gestational diabetes with my DS pretty much from the start so was on a strict diet the entire pregnancy. Not much fun especially when I got to the hungry stage, could never fill up. The not putting on much weight was good though as I didn't suffer much at the end of the pregnancy, no aches or pains.

Off subject, I need help. Have to go to a hens party in a couple of weeks dressed as something beginning with D (bride's initial). Anyone got any ideas?? Worse bit is I'll be sober so don't want to look too much like an idiot.

pooka · 12/01/2009 20:59

I'd make a dunce's hat with a big 'D' on it. And wear normal clothes!

pooka · 12/01/2009 20:59

Or a donkey.

LittleCheese · 12/01/2009 21:27

Stretch · 12/01/2009 21:29

Erm...hello?

I did a test about 3 hours ago and it's a BFP! We didn't plan to have the next quite so soon, but, hey, here I am! I am exactly 5 weeks pregnant, so I think that's 14th Sept.

DH is still

I am 27, have DD1 (nearly 7) DD2 (3 1/2) and DS 8 months. We were planing on trying for the fourth next year!

In between DD2 and DS I had 2 m/cs, so I am very worried about that, or will be when it sinks in!!

My last 2 births were homebirths, so hope this one will be too.

Hope I am welcome here! Sorry for the ladies who have had m/cs I really feel for you.

undercovermummy · 12/01/2009 21:36

Wow i cant believe how many newbies we have! Welcome, welcome

Stealth,i doubt many, if any will know who i am anyway but need to have a different name as a RL friend knows my username and its not common knowledge yet

Bratnav sorry to hear about your job - that really sucks. Can they legally look at your emails? I'm not sure they can..... unless they had cause for concern.

Am of you ladies getting your booking in appts this week, i have mine on the 4th Feb which seems like a life time away.

Back is killing me today, might have something to do with the amount of time i spend on the internet every day though.

Am pretty sure i have gone up a size boob wise already, so darent think what i will end up with

TigerFeet · 12/01/2009 21:51

Oh lord I hope my boobs don't get too much bigger, I'm already a J cup

Congratulations Stretch

I like the idea of Dorothy but if you're looking for something easy then I'd go with doctor. Not sure how easy it is to get hold of ruby slippers!

bigbang · 12/01/2009 21:51

Hello Stretch and welcome!

TickListQueen could you go as Dolly Parton?! Or a damsel? You don't have to be in distress!

GracieGirl · 12/01/2009 23:01

Evening all!

I'm jealous too of all who have appointments. I saw the Gp at 5 weeks, the system in my area is you leave your details on an answerphone and they ring you back "in the next few days" with an appointment. They've not rang me back yet 2 weeks later, I've left 3 messages now. I'm off work on Friday, I'll be almost 7.5 weeks then, I think I might just turn up at the clinic and try and make an appointment face-to-face.

bratnav · 12/01/2009 23:04

Gracie, that is terrible. Have you tried calling the HVs at the surgery, as they are in contact with the MWs a lot, they might get a message passed on to them?

TheTickListQueen · 12/01/2009 23:14

Thanks for the ideas, more than I came up with. LOL at Dolly Parton, no way have I got the waist to pull that one off even when not pregnant.

GracieGirl · 12/01/2009 23:23

Bratnav, the midwives in my area don't work from the GP surgery, they are all at one clinic. I might ring the GP tomorrow see if he can suggest anything. Otherwise I'll be there on friday to get in the way!

lemonmoon · 12/01/2009 23:48

Glad to hear I'm not the only one whose plan to lose weight before getting pregnant didn't work Since this is my first all my excess weight is down to biscuits not babies but I'll follow the experience of you all who've done it before and try not to gain too much. Chances are if I just eat healthily I might lose a couple of christmas chocolate pounds anyway...

Gracie - I'm shocked that you haven't been contacted yet. I'd be beside myself...

Bratnav that really is a bummer about your job, but I'm sure you'll be entitled to something maternity wise. Fingers crossed for the job hunt.

HeadFairy · 13/01/2009 01:07

Hello everyone, sorry I'm a bit behind with posting, I'm on nights at the moment so I'm on a 12 hour delay to everyone else!

I did try and lose some weight before getting pg as I thought it would help me increase my fertility, it did work, I lost about half a stone in the summer but after my miscarriage I kind of lost my way. Lots of consolation chocolate! I didn't put too much on thankfully and I guess it didn't affect my fertility too much as I got pg with one bd and a God awful cough and cold!!!

I managed to put on 3.5 stone last time but I did lose 2.5 stone of that in the two weeks after ds was born so I guess lots was water, lots was fat too and I didn't really shift the final lot until ds was about 8 months So this time I'm going to be careful about not noshing too much. I was really bad last time, though it's hard not to comfort eat when I'm on nights. I made myself some lovely popcorn to take to work as the temptation to tuck in to the chocolate is too great. I put a tiny bit of golden syrup, a tiny sprinkle of sugar and a dash of ground cinnamon on it.... lovely!

As far as morning sickness goes, just the odd bout here and there. Never sickness just retching which isn't very pleasant. It's the tiredness that gets me more, not just because I'm on nights but massive waves of exhaustion even though I slept pretty well today, a whole 7 hours which is quite a luxury for me, even when not on these crummy shifts!

Anyway, I'm rambling. I don't know when I'll make my docs appt, probably for Monday morning as ds is at the childminders and I'm off work so it's a little easier.

Right, I'm off for some popcorn Take care everyone

undercovermummy · 13/01/2009 08:45

I had horrible indigestion last night. Was awake from 1-2 thinking i was going vomit and also had nasty tummy rumblings. Ds woke at 4.30 and it took 2 hours of fidgeting before dh took him downstairs.

This week i am on a healthy food diet. Too much stodgy crappy food has gone through my system and not enough fruit and veg. Not sure how long i will keep it up as i am no good and always give in to the naughty stuff!

Gracie, that is pants that they havent got back to you with an appointment. I'm lucky that the mw's have clinics at the gp surgery on tues, wed & thurs pm's.

cautiousmumtobe · 13/01/2009 09:51

Undercover - I had awful indigestion when pg with DD. For some reason, I found that drinking milk really helped as gaviscon just made me want to be sick. Not sure if this was my bodies way of making me drink pints and pints of milk but it definitely seemed to work.

mama2leah · 13/01/2009 11:20

how ru guys plannin to lose weight?

cautiousmumtobe · 13/01/2009 12:13

To be honest, when I was pg with DD the ms did the job for me. But when I was pg in the summer before I had an MC I was eating all the time to combat the ms. It worked well for not being sick but not so good after the MC when I then had to deal with the aftermath of extra weight! I've managed to shift some of it doing weightwatchers but was planning on losing more before getting pg again but hey, I'll take the good news of the BFP anyday over losing a few more pounds.
I guess the best way of dealing with it is to snack on fruit etc instead of chocolate, and biscuits but let's face it, when you've gotta have chocolate a banana just isn't going to help!

Snowfalls108 · 13/01/2009 12:29

I can't see how I'd gain weight at the moment! Everything that goes down either comes up or seems to go straight through at a rate of knots. Sorry TMI!
Reckon that this could be the best diet ever. Food is just uninspiring - and I normally love my food!

TrixieVix · 13/01/2009 12:51

Morning all!

Nothing new to report here - still finding it a bit strange to think I'm actually pg! Touch wood, no MS as yet, although suffered badly with DS, so am expecting it again. For those that are suffering, at what stage did it begin?

I did a conception indicator thing this morning, and it said 2-3 weeks, so that makes me 4-5 weeks doesn't it? Bit gutted that I'm not further on (although didn't really think I could be as we were still being careful up until Boxing Day, which I think is when it happened....sorry if TMI). Am now frantically knicker checking and am paranoid somthing bad is going to happen. Can someone please reassure me this is normal!!

Don't really feel anything at the moment, am having niggly feelings in my tummy (it was this that made me do a pg test) like a kind of churning feeling, and am needing the loo a lot more than usual. I'm majorly tired too, which I suppose now I've written them all down, means I have got one or two symptoms eh?! AND, I'm really off balance all of a sudden - I've walked into my desk twice today and fallen against the door frame!

How is everyone else feeling?

I too was supposed to lose 3 stone before getting pg, but hey - am ecstatic to have my BFP, so the weight can wait
