Tree MUST Be having her bubba!!!!!! .... for her! for the rest of us!!!!

I'm having one of THOSE days. We had planned when OH gets home from work to go into ipswich, mooch around, maybe go to the cinema and have a lovley dinner, but for the first time in my life facing the outside world feels like too much!!!

Just had enough, am in (have had shower, so i guess this is my getting dressed for the day) OHs joggers and hoody, as only things that are really comfy, have gone from having no stretchmarks anywhere, to boobs being plauged by them in a few days, mainly on the underside, but still thought i'd got away with it. just feel an emmotional mess today, totally fed up with being a beached whale... and could possibly go another 5 weeks (assuming i went to 42 weeks!) ...That idea is all too much.

Want to sink into my big squishy couch, but far to afraid of bubbs becoming posterior again, or head popping out of pelvis or....Fed up of being plopped on this birthing ball, or sitting BOLT upright.

Feel like curling up in a ball and crying....even though i know i'm being ridiculiously silly!!!!!!!

Have sent OH a warning text that am in one of "those" moods... and if he wants to spend time with one of the boys- more than welcome. at least i KNOW i'm in a crazy woman mood!

yoohoo tree... where are you??

fourlittlefeet · 05/01/2009 14:56

ray, at least they are on the undersides and will shrink in when the boobs go down again. Bio oil will help too. I made it to 34 weeks no stretch marks and now have them marching purposefully across bump. Particulalrly unfair as I didn't get them with DD.

lol tree. give us the low down on clary sage please! am thinking of going to get some as I think I'm ready, but a bit worried due to vbac. was thinking smelling ok, putting on skin too much...?

LenniEd · 05/01/2009 15:34

rrrayray head up girl, not long now. And give yourself a break with that sitting up business a pregnant woman really should be lying down a bit more!! Be careful how much time you spend on that birthing ball too - more than 30 mins at a time isn't good for you, you'll be using your abs to keep yourself upright - my physio told me off about that. And as for living in OH's joggers - sounds like bliss. Keep it up. Now get yourself a big cup of hot chocolate, lie down on your squishy couch and put some crap on the TV, thats an order. And head is going nowhere with your stomach muscles/pelvic floor holding it in. That's for the lardy second timer that I am to worry about

Tree thank you - your false labour has kept us all going since last night. Only sorry for you it didn't work out, been there myself recently, PITA isn't it. It'll be back though, and this time you'll have a baby.

FLF - yep, know that ready feeling.

OP posts:
treedelivery · 05/01/2009 15:52

flf - Well, friends have burnt it infused but they had home births. I was thinking of sprinkling in around the delivery room.
I only got it yesterday, and put some on my coat, then dd as she thought it was perfume [figured being balanced and calm couldn't hurt a 4yo] but then I thik in the warm shops etc the smell got over whelming!! Stank!! Quite comical as all coats now in the wash.

I reckon some in a light oil for a back rub would be nicer [but seem to remember threatening death on dh if he so much as touched me 1st time]

Another mate said she had power tightnings when she used it so perhaps it did trigger last night. Sadly my own hormones failed to take the bait.

FLF will be next.....

Feel so weird, really feel she's coming soon but need my body to back me up. I never had any of this with dd1!!!!!!!!

treedelivery · 05/01/2009 15:55

rrrayray - you should lie on your side in a ball if you like my dear. On the side quite a good pelvic position in comparison to others. Have your lie down and a good sob, with hot water bottle and the remote control. LenniEd speaks sense!

stripeywoollenhat · 05/01/2009 15:56

rray - if it's any consolation, i thought i was going to get away without stretchmarks, but no, 38+3 i got out of the shower and thought 'oh, what're they?'... from my ribs along the top of my bump - a bit like i've been softly mauled by a bear....

tree, for you - but next time sure it will be the real deal

MsSparkle · 05/01/2009 16:37

Hello all,

5 days over and no baby

MM is second the osteopath. We took dd to that when she was born and i will never know for sure but i think that was why she started sleeping through at 7 weeks and has been a really good sleeper since. Plus she was never a crying baby, always content and happy. At £26 a session though it aint cheep!

Was twinge city again last night! I can see i am not the only one who keeps getting twinges and it leading to nothing

There is absolutly no room left whats so ever in my tummy, so when baby tries to move it hurts like hell. I have also suffered nasty backache for a couple of days and i feel like a whingy, grumpy old hag!

MsSparkle · 05/01/2009 16:37

MM i second the osteopath. That should have been

treedelivery · 05/01/2009 16:51

Can't believe we have got to the 5th with no babies!! December was busier for us!!

..Lets hope Feb is VERY quite....

treedelivery · 05/01/2009 17:24

Here we go again...won't be the boy whale who cried wolf though. I am determined.

Packed the clary sage at 3am too [when newly woken dh was ironing babygrows - I clearly went a bit batty].

Feck am going to have to open the bag to get the clary sage. That's going to lead to fiddling with stuff and counting vests and having panic attacks about numbers of knickers....

tinkwantsherbaby · 05/01/2009 17:30

hopefully u will have your baby soon miss sparkle
good luck tree

chefswife · 05/01/2009 17:48

hello ladies.
hope all is well.
i just cut and pasted the list and changed my birthing date.

i have a question about breastfeeding... well, expressing. how long does it take to fill a bottle. i spent 15 minutes on the pump last night and barely expressed a mouthful for DD. she has been 'grazing', constantly wanting boob, (at 3 weeks i think this must be sort of normal). i'm worried i'm not producing enough milk for her to have a good feed. i wanted to start expressing a bit to allow DH to feed her at midnight but it didn't appear to be working, me not the pump. and i can't return the pump because of hygiene reasons and they cost a bit. i don't flow like i hear other ladies, no grand streams of milk squirting everywhere. midwife says i'm fine but damn, my nipples are taking a beating. she was on the boob from 4 to 7am today. just grazes. any tips on more flow. i've read the usual but sometimes people find other ways too. are there foods that promote milk production. i eat pretty well.

congratulations to the babes!

DH said something funny last night. he was looking at DD , then turned to me and smiled, shaking his head, and said "i can't believe you pushed her out your vagina!". ah... the miracle of birth.

Aw Tree sorry things didn't progress.

Ray have to add my support to Tree and LenniEd. Had several midwives assure me that one of the best positions for late pregnancy is to lie on your left side with a pillow between your knees. Have also been told by the same midwives that you should always choose sitting over standing and lying over sitting whenever possible. Don't be so hard on yourself you need some tlc.

MsSparkle £26 is cheap! Its £45 per session round here.

Went really strange for a while after I logged off, shaking, dizzy and crampy. (That didn't happen last time I had a sweep, so think had more to do with exhaustion than anything else.) Had to swallow my pride and call Mum to come round and supervise boys. Fell asleep for all of half an hour then lay on the sofa under snuggly blanket for most of the rest of afternoon and am now feeling much better (other than not being able to put my right foot to the floor due to agonising spd).

Having the odd weird shooting pain around bump but no sign of contractions or anything suggesting things might be moving. Looks like I'm here for the long haul.

Hi chefswife I'm sure you are producing more than enough milk for her. Expressing can take a bit of time and practice to get the hang of and some ladies find it easier than others.

Try releasing the suction and repositioning the pump until you get a better flow. Also, try to remember to mimic the sort of gulp and release rhythm of a baby feeding rather than just pumping away trying to get a good flow going, that way your body will respond better to the pump.

Have you tried expressing from one side whilst feeding from the other, that can help increase the flow of milk from side you are expressing.

Are you using a manual or electric pump btw. I have heard a lot of people get on much better with manual to start with as they can get a better feel for their natural rhythm and be more in control of the process.

treedelivery · 05/01/2009 18:02

If you express at the end of a feed you wont get much as you wont have refilled as it were.

Forget now anyy notion that the frequency and quantity of feeding relate to how much the bubs gets and if it is enough. It's much more subtle than the formula milk and so the 2 don't compare. Wet nappies are all you need.
The pump might not be terribly effective yet as 3 weeks is fairly early to be expressing to replace feeds iyswim.

I'd have taken a good 3 sessions to get enough for a full feed when I bf dd1, that was till about 3 months [tries to remember back...]

Expect her to feed 2 to 3 hourly, but to be very unhappy if she can't smell milk/you especially at night. She's designed to survive, so her programming tells her that the dark is dangerous [animals hunt at night] and the quite is dangerous [some bugger forgot her and left her in the cave].

if you need to replace a feed - express in the evening, to demand the extra milk, you have high prolactin levels at night so will respond. Your body will then deliver the milk prob 4-12 hours later depending on your own body. Then you express it.
Always work to replace the feed you missed, by expressing, particulary as you are not quite established yet. Otherwise your body will make less - supply and demand.

Once the body is established its much more flexibla and you can move the goal posts much more easily.

Hth, do say if makes no sense.

fourlittlefeet · 05/01/2009 18:14

chef have you been on this site tis awesome for all things breastfeeding. Also this thread is helpful.

treedelivery · 05/01/2009 18:16

Ahhhh evening prolactin surges. Am really hoping they make me a bit horny. Poor dh..
