morning!
weeeell, pains dropped off, woken by them occasionally in the night but not much there this morning apart from an uncomfy tightening here and there. Baby has moved ROA to LOA though I think so maybe that's what that was all about!! DH left the party an hour early in the end, just as well as he said he had to have the windows open in the car to stay awake on the way home! He has decided the baby is coming today, once ds is in bed but before midnight. Keeps asking me how I'm feeling in a meaningful way. I shrug.

FLF - how you doing? And Lenni?

Tree - glad you got a reasonable night, lucky you ordering tiles get your kicks where you can

Moose - hope you got a decent night

ray - how was the scan??

fourlittlefeet · 30/12/2008 10:55

Morning. Still here . Painful night and didn't get off to sleep until 5am. Why is it when you know you should relax and try to sleep that your mind goes into overdrive? I feel as if I've gone several rounds with Mr Ali as the baby kicked so much during the contractions. Woken at 6am by DD. Lovely. Spink looks like we are in the same boat. Bub also keeps moving from side to side so I think thats it turning as the head goes down, but don't understand enough about it!

Tree very jealous of your sleep and plans for today! I've got the midwife at 2.30.

fourlittlefeet · 30/12/2008 10:56

by the way in my early morning mooch on the computer I found a great contraction master. Not only does is record the length, but how often too! Good one to have to hand as they are very difficult to measure I've found. Can feel when they are coming on, but if the baby is squirming you can't quite tell when they finish.

stripeywoollenhat · 30/12/2008 11:27

morning all
sorry to hear about unproductive discomfort, flf - do you think they try to rotate themselves down? my small one seems to be trying to scrabble her way downwards... tickly and pretty uncomfortable.

my bump seems to have dropped quite a bit overnight. wonder if it's a sign....?

fourlittlefeet · 30/12/2008 13:54

oooh stripey. come and stand in line!

stripeywoollenhat · 30/12/2008 14:11

not really feeling much like standing, actually - on couch under lovely soft blanket with bad tv.... feeling really quite pathetic today, so i hope she has no plans to disembark immediately, don't have the energy and also a friend of mine who lives in canada is in town this evening so have to go to pub later - no time for childbirth today...

Hello all

Sorry your nights were broken - they sound very similar to the one's I've been having. Tightnings/pains till 5 or 6 am then nothing but a hung over feeling the next day. Hence I have the TENS in action.

Had a nap from 11 till 2 today. Such such luxury. Nice to sleep well. Bubs swings from left to right too, as long as its not head to bum like the bad old days of 30 weeks thats ok with me!

Havn't done much off my list, although dh has made good bash at the house. Shopping later me thinks. 2nd day on mat leave, so nice not to have work looming on the horizon.

fymandbean · 30/12/2008 15:22

hello all - I need to have a bit of a moan first my throat virus then bronchitis has now turned into a sinus infection (cue painful teeth and face). Went to the docs today and she insisted I go on antibiotics which I hate doing when I'm pregnant - I don't even like taking paracetamol.

Anyway to at the same time she checked me over and found I also have high blood pressure...she did it again and as it went down a few points she sent me home to rest rather than sending me to hospital . got to go back tomorrow to be retested after a day of antibiotics.

She thinks the blood pressure is due to the virus rather than the pregnancy IYSWIM but still not good.

On the bright side bubs is head down and nearly engaged - just needs to turn the spine the other way (I can never remember which way it is supposed to be) think he's currently ROA and needs to be LOA.

On the subject of TENS - I found it extremely useful (Elle Tens was the one I had). You have to just go with it, as it doesn't seem to do anything then you realise it is when you take it off! I managed labour with TENS and G&A last time and hope to do so again although this one should be a bit quicker!

Still no nursery and no bag packed! but DH is now taking over the business so will have a bit more time over the next 4 weeks (lets hope bubs isn't early!)

I may be nearly last on the list but I'm sure I won't be last - I suspect I'll be dead on time although did have a 'clearout' yesterday which worried me slightly - I'll be setting my bag packed ASAP!

LenniEd · 30/12/2008 15:31

Hi all, just checking in. Night much the same as Spink/Stripey/FLF/Tree - do you think we're all coming out in sympathy for each other??

Bouts of contractions and diarrhoea today. Called my Mum to get her to come up tomorrow so we've cover for NYE just in case.

Good to hear from you fym - hope you are feeling better soon. Hope scan ok rrrayray. No sign of Moose yet this morning??

Off to catch up properly. Be back later.

treedelivery · 30/12/2008 15:33

No sign of moose. Trying not to read too much into every half day gap in postings or I'll be knackered by the end of Jan!

EVERYone seems to be pooing lots. Cosmic bowel habbut synchronisation thing [like nuns and periods]??

treedelivery · 30/12/2008 15:40
moosemama · 30/12/2008 16:25

Here I am! Whasssup?

Sorry haven't caught up on thread, have awful tiredness headache coupled with sinus pain and have been feeling a bit sorry for myself today.

Had dreadful night again, despite DH sleeping on sofa and my having the whole bed, tonnes of pillows and a king sized duvet to myself. Ended up crawling round the bed pathetically trying to get comfy for hours on end.

Got a few little things happening but nothing significant really. Not sure if what I'm getting is BH or not. Really sharp nervy type pains that take my breath away down the sides of my bump much like I had a couple of months back. I seem to get them when I shift position, it makes turning over in bed a real pallava (sp?) and very painful. They don't really feel like contractions though, more like cramp.

Was supposed to get up early so DH could paint the bedroom ceiling today, but stayed in bed till 12.30 trying to sleep so that went out the window.

As of last night, we finally have a crib! As predicted DH was totally useless with the flatpack, swore blind he didn't have all the pieces, declared the instructions incorrect and that all the parts were labelled wrongly. He then proceeded to attach the ends inside out and on the wrong ends and attach the base without the side bit that clips onto the side of the bed! At that point I got involved by giving directions from the sofa and the whole thing was built in under 30 minutes! Unfortunately it is now in the living room as we don't want to put it in our room until the ceiling is painted - oops! (Living room really aint that bit either and already full of Christmas Tree and birth pool bag!)

Just taken delivery of a Graco swing for little one, DH's lovely lovely Great Aunt ordered it and had it delivered direct for us. She is such a sweetheart, our favourite member of the family. Had a swing for both boys and couldn't have survived without it especially when DS2 had colic and would stop crying when we put him on fast spin iyswim. It also meant we could eat a meal together without one of us having get up and down to the baby continuously or have them on our knee.

No excessive or unusual pooing to report here as yet!

treedelivery · 30/12/2008 16:32

Get pooing. Its what we do here.

Glad someone else has a swing - I got nothing with dd1 [was very very tight] but got one for this one as figured it will be abandoned for longer periods as I deal with dd1 on loo etc.

Thought we had a labourer then moose! But we have an asembled crib which is as big an achievement I feel.

No one's sleeping this is crazy. How come we can sleep in the day?

Have done zero zilch about party tomorrow. But am busy trying to upload pics to mumsnet. Clear priorities.

MsSparkle · 30/12/2008 16:42

Hello,

exciting to hear of all the possible contractions! FLF i was convinced you would come back and say you had given birth in the night!

I had some mild "contraction" feelings last night. Nothing major and there was no pattern and it lasted until about 1am. Felt crappy all day too. Just want this over now, my due date is tommorrow.

Does anyone else get fed up with well wishing phone calls from people asking if it's here yet/are there any twinges? I know they mean well but they are pissing me off.

fymandbean · 30/12/2008 16:45

hey ho - well hopefully I'll be better with the antibiotics soon! I can't believe I've had a virus thats so far gone on for 21 days!!

Also not sleeping well - forget about the virus! my hips ache and I'm up peeing every hour..... got a few BH but nothing like you other 'nearly labouring' ladies thank goodness!

Am on the raspberry leaf tea - don't know if it helped last time but if it did I'm trying to do the same!!!

treedelivery · 30/12/2008 16:49

fymandbean - this thing that has gone round has knocked everyone off for a month. Been really weird. Think antibiotics should make sinuses better quite quickly.

Hopefuly your BP will have calmed down in morning too!!

No bag packed here either. Actually, no bag.....

moosemama · 30/12/2008 16:50

I don't get that either, why can I not fall asleep all night, then find I can drop off in the morning only to be woken regularly by the boys playing with their new toys (or fighting with each other)?

Sorry pooing just not happening! In fact I'm sure I'll know when labour has started because of all the lovely trips to the toilet every 5 minutes!

Don't reckon I'll be going into labour any time soon. Due date is Saturday and going in to discuss/have a sweep on Monday first thing if favourable, but she just doesn't seem that interested in coming out at the moment.

My sister, the one who hasn't been speaking to me ever since I got pregnant and has 'ishoos' around the whole 'you're pregnant and I'm not' thing called and left a message on answerphone at 3.00pm out of the blue to say they are over here at Mums house from the other side of the country and would like to visit! No notice at all, and us all still in PJs with a blooming crib and baby swing in the living room! Then half an hour later Mum called with exactly the same message saying would we go round to hers as my Uncle and his family (who we never see from one year to the next and don't really know) are there too! Fortunately DH took control and called Mum back to tell her I am completely exhausted having had no sleep for days and days and am either in bed or resting on the sofa and am definitely not up to either visitors or visiting. Both DH and the boys have come down with colds now too and we would really rather not take DS2 out in his current condition. She sounded well narked but at least we got out of it all. Last thing I need is more family stress at the moment.

Sorry rant over! Families, can't live with 'em and well ..... can't live near 'em apparently either!

treedelivery · 30/12/2008 16:58

nice work dh!! great he could deflect it all for you.

How is ds2?

moosemama · 30/12/2008 17:08

DS2 is actually not too bad really. Thanks for asking. He has a runny nose and is off is food again but no sign of a cough thank god and seems to have retained his appetite for chocolate and mince pies! (Like mother like son!) I have actually resorted to medised for the first time ever as he was having such broken sleep I had convinced myself he would go downhill really quickly again. A couple of good night's sleep seem to have done him the power of good.

Unfortunately DS1 now has the cold and is a real one for 'man flu syndrome' so had Daddy up in the night 3 times for more snuffle babe, a drink of water etc etc. DH has it too now but it seems to be a fairly mild one so should hopefully pass fairly quickly. Hoping I don't get it as I seem to have developed a tradition of god awful sinus infections 3 New Years eves in a row and would really like to avoid that this year! Sinuses are painful, but definitely not infected at the moment, have been trying to take evasive measures with lots of steam, karvol and hot drinks and baths.

Haven't seen all that much of the boys over the past couple of days as their new toys have been relocated to their bedroom from the living room and DS1 is totally obsessed with his Funkeys computer game stuff. (Much swearing from Daddy though as the darn thing has all sorts of bugs in it and he has spent a lot of time sat at DS1s desk trying to sort it out!)

ps another tens tip! Get two sets of pads and spend some time adjusting the first set so they are in the most beneficial position. Then mark your back with pen - this means you can take them on and off if you need to and get them back on in the 'right' place. Each set of pads will go on/off a few times before the sticky goes completely.

fymandbean · 30/12/2008 17:43

oh and have been with DH 16 years.... married 8. it does seem a long time!!!

TALLULAHBELLE · 30/12/2008 17:43
